(To stall for time while I try to write this monster, I'm going to share my secret weapon for characters. The Percy Jackson musical. It kills. And the music is really good for character inspiration.
Like just this song alone helped me get through all of my girls.)

Lizzie O'Connor xx Prologue
Friday, June 1st, started out like a normal day for Lizzie O'Connor. The young girl was sitting on a crowded bus full to the brim of screaming children. Had it not been for the headache pounding at her temple, the Oracle would have been right there screaming with them. It was the last day of school after all, and after the final bell rang, she's be on her way to camp. Maybe she should have been more aware that morning. Maybe in hindsight there's a thousand solutions we'd overlooked. But Lizzie went on with her day like every other 5th grader, signing poorly formatted yearbooks and expressing excitement for summer.
It wasn't until after school that Lizzie noticed anything weird. Her headache had yet to subside, and as the young girl reached to unlock her front door, she thought she overheard a raspy whisper. "Mis- Mis- Missing." Whipping her head around, Lizzie thought she caught a shadow move out of the corner of her eye. The hairs on the back of her neck rose as she heard the voice one more time, this time from directly behind her. "Find me," it exhaled. "If you dare." Shivering, the young girl turned slowly, but no figure stood behind her.
Slipping inside her house, Lizzie felt her fear start to ebb away. Climbing up to her room, she waved at her mom who was reading through an old newspaper.
"When you're done packing, I can drive you to camp," Lucie O'Connor called over her shoulder. "I just have to stop by the shop and pick something up." Her mother sounded sad, like she always did when discussing camp. She knew her mother would rather keep her close and not send her off to camp, but Ms. O'Connor was a strong believer in letting her children make their own choices. If Lizzie felt like it was her responsibility to go to camp every summer, than she'd stand by her daughter decision.
"Alright mom," she replied, her voice still shaky. "Give me ten minutes."
She was done packing in five. Sitting on the steps, the Oracle thumbed through all her winter notes. Quick little visions, weird feelings, strange voices, ever weird encounter she'd had while in school was written down. There hadn't been much- which was odd. Normally she'd have at least one day that she'd be bedridden by visions. Sighing, she closed the blue journal. What would you do Cailin, she questioned. All I have to go on is a bad feeling. Like I'm slowly slipping on the edge of a building, but still haven't realized I''m going to fall.
Lizzie knew the answer to her question. Her sister would go to camp. Her sister would ask for advice, strategize and try to get to the root of the message. But she was not her sister. Plastering on a fake smile, she climbed into her mom's car, waiting for something important to happen.
She knew something was wrong the second she saw camp. The journey had been rather benign. She saw hellhounds weaving between trees, other monster seeking easy prey, but none strayed close to their tiny car. Camp, however, seem to have an aura of crisis around it. Slipping quietly behind the magical border, Lizzie crawled her way to the Big House. It was there that she heard the news.
Twenty. Twenty camper were missing. The voice from earlier echoed back in her head. Maybe she should've told them that the campers were most likely in danger. Shattered their dreams that they were all just late. But she couldn't bring herself to do it.
She retreated to her cave, glad to see the welcoming pots and sculptures that she'd been so proud of. She wasn't sure how long she'd stayed in there, working through pages of notes, trying to figure anything out. All she knew was that the sun was setting when her hand involuntarily moved to her paints. Picking up a brush, her feet carried her to a blank section of the wall. She dared not breath. Her hand started moving. Up and down. Left and right. Forming words.
Her hand stopped, and her eyes went back in focus looking at the verse she'd written. "Hello Lizzie. Want to play?" Shaking, she dropped what was in her hands, and stumbled backwards, tipping over a table of jars. They all went crashing to the ground, but more concerning was that when the Oracle's eyes looked back up, the words were gone. Vanished, as if they'd never been there. All she could do was whisper,
"Something is terribly wrong."

Nivea Jordan woke from her sleep with a jolt, her pulse racing and her breath shallow. She couldn't stop having nightmares, images of horrible things happening to her friends racing through her mind like a record. Twenty campers. That was how many were missing. Twenty friends she couldn't protect, twenty demigods who could be in danger - or worse.
Bringing her knees to her chest, the daughter of Poseidon curled around herself, leaning back against the tree she sat under. She could see the camp from where she sat, and usually her brother Jaime was here with her. But he was still asleep after their sparring session the day before.
Lucky Jaime. At least one of us can sleep without nightmares, Nivea thought bitterly. She loved Jaime, truly. No one had been like family to her in the way that he was. But sometimes she was jealous of his lesser-godly parentage. She felt like being a daughter of Poseidon sometimes made her more of a target, more prone to visions of the death of those she couldn't save.
Just like she couldn't save that little Apollo girl the last time she'd returned home. She could still see the girl's determined face, the acceptance in her eyes. Nivea knew it wasn't her fault. In their line of life, demigods were killed all the time. That didn't change the fact that it still hurt, though.

Fallon Wood The silence was heavy in the cabin. She sat alone, as always, right on her bed, gripping the picture in her hand. The image was taken in Costa Rica, back when she was young. A woman held her tightly, taking the selfie with a smile on her face. But she was gone now, there would be no more of her smile outside of pictures.
But now she wasn't the only one.
Twenty half-bloods have disappeared, two of which belonged to the very cabin that Fallon Wood sat in now. Her half-siblings were missing, and she had no idea what to do about it. Slipping the picture back in with the others, she grabbed her camera and made her way to the door, rubbing her bracelets. Fallon may not be the most friendly of people, but her siblings were her family. In fact, they were the only family she had after her mother's death. Just because she didn't care to talk to anyone didn't mean she wasn't always aware of their presence.
A presence that was now gone.
Trying to calm herself, Fallon stepped outside. She knew the camp by heart now, living there full-time for years now. Not like she had anywhere else to go. Her grandparents would lock her away to be "normal" like that was a possibility with her being a demigod. No, this was the only place she could be, and especially now with the missing demigods, missing family, it was still the safest place for her.
