Briarsong sighed slightly, She hadn't wanted to be so harsh on the Apprentices...But they needed to understand the full extent of thier actions. If they werent properly punished now- they'd be likely to do it again. Crowstrike nodded silently, He agreed with the punishment the apprenticed would be given and had no qualms with the extent, though he was thankful Ashstar had mentioned that thier mentors could briefly relieve them of thier duties to train. Sootpaw was slightly relieved, the punishment could have lasted the rest of the time they were apprentices, She could handle a moon of it. The small she-cat turned to Owlpaw, and smiled meekly at him, as if to say 'It was fun while it lasted?'

With his head lowered and ears half-flattened, Owlpaw followed the patrol with a sinking heart. All of that punishment - he didn't get it. They hadn't gotten into actual danger, and yet the moon-long punishment felt a little harsh, to him. Did it mean they wouldn't be able to play, or that they wouldn't be allowed of camp without their mentors? Probably. His nose wrinkled and he glanced to Sootpaw, blinking at her briefly before he looked forward.
Ashstar walked ahead, pausing from time to time to scent the air, ears perked up and listening. His tail became very still at some point, and his pauses began more frequent - like he had caught scent of something, but couldn't quite detect what it was.
"What is it?" Snowfoot asked cautiously, from where she walked alongside the two apprentices. It seemed that she would only be calm of mind if she kept a careful eye on them. The tom ahead of them glanced back, eyes narrowing thoughtfully as if he couldn't quite figure out what he was trying to keep track of.
"Fox scent, nearby. On the move," he said, eventually. This only made Owlpaw's heart sink further; they were in more danger than he had thought, and now the guilt just continued to rise. He lowered his head and did not miss that Snowfoot moved closer to them, didn't miss Ashstar push on further forward. Was it because he had multiple lives? That had to be it. He could afford a few swiped from a fox - none of the others could.

Upon hearing of the fox’s presence nearby Crowstrike moved the the flank of the apprentices, and gave Sootpaw a reassuring nod. Briarsong dropped to the rear of the group, insuring that all sides of the apprentices were guarded. Sootpaw looked at Owlpaw, it was clear she was afraid, and trying her hardest to act brave. She sniffed the air cautiously, just as Ashstar had said, she could smell the Fox. She turned from Owlpaw to Crowstrike and let out a nervous sort of giggle, she couldn’t quite help it. Knowing that a giggle was inappropriate at this point in time she quickly apologized.

[ sorry for taking so long ;v; i didn't have much muse for this, but i should be back in full swing now~ ]
The giggle caused Ashstar to flinch and he glanced back to the apprentice - there was a sharp reprimand on his tongue, but he let it die there. There was no point. The apprentice was probably as nervous as everyone else was, and so he understood. If he were in their position, he'd probably be overly-nervous, too. As it was, Ashstar felt relatively confident. There were four trained warriors, and he hoped that the fox would not take them on.
Green eyes flashed at them from the bushes and for a moment, he saw a brief flash of fangs. Ashstar hissed briefly before he growled low in his throat, fur along his back rising along with the fur of his tail. In an effort to appear bigger, he arched his back a little.
"It's coming in--" Snowfoot's words barely registered before a skinny flurry of russet hit him like a hurricane, slamming him to the ground. Ashstar's claws unsheathed immediately as he was tackled down, and he yowled in pain as the mouth came down on his throat.
The tom - still early days in his leadership - had not yet lost a life, but he supposed this was what it felt like. There was a laced edge to his vision as the vixen threw him aside and he thought good, it's distracted. Perhaps his warriors would take advantage of the situation as he recovered; though as his vision went grey, he saw that Snowfoot was rooted in place, eyes widened and ears pinned. Owlpaw was huddled next to Sootpaw with equally wide eyes, mouth parted in surprise.
Their attacker, herself, was skinny as anything and clearly nursing cubs; but her fangs remained bared and her tail was bushy. Though weak in herself, she certainly held plenty of fight in her.

( "I hope you'll be okay uvu" Thank you <33 I'm fine though~ It was sad, but I'm alright aND I'M BACK //woot woot sorry if it's a little short ;u; )
Asterpaw - Vixenpaw
The tom had smiled at the sight of the bird vanish. Though, he did feel a somewhat sense of uneasiness. What if the bird was to return and attack him? Or even worse, Vixenpaw? He didn't want to admit such a tragic event, and so, he began to walk forward, wanting to leave the area. Besides, soon someone will realize they're both gone. That wouldn't be good if anyone discovered they weren't in camp. Passing by the opposing feline, her question caught him off guard, and so he paused and turned his warm gaze towards the troublesome Vixenpaw. Asterpaw tilted his head at the female, not knowing how to reply. Her query had made him slightly shrug. It was embarrassing he had made a noise like so, but he did scare the bird off, right? Feeling a boost of confidence, the apprentice thought of an amazing reply.
With a smug grin, he simply stated with closed eyes and his chest puffed outwards, "I told you, I'm the bird whisperer."

[ welcome back, twilight~ it's okay ^^ your post is fine.
hallo, sparkly~ i have some characters open if you want ]
She wanted to get off this mountain before anything else happened - and though careful, her pace was relatively quick and she didn't respond until she felt a little more safe. Vixenpaw padded across the smooth ground at the base of the mountain and turned to throw a look over her shoulder. Scared by a big bird, she thought bitterly, that's definitely what a warrior would have done. Gotten scared. Her nose twitched and she looked forward again. A patrol must have been here recently - she could smell a few cats. That wasn't good.
"You sure are," she said, her tone aiming for teasing - but falling flat halfway through. Truth be told, she hadn't thought much about what a problem her size could be until this moment; did that mean that when her trial happened, she was going to have to deal with large birds trying to take her away, too? She hoped not. She was still growing, after all. Just...not as much as she would've liked.
The delicate she-cat shook her head and began to trot towards the forest, tail lashing back and forth. Her ears were half-pinned and though she seemed to be quite content in thinking that she was good at hiding her emotions, it was clear enough that the bird had unnerved her.
"We should probably get back. The patrol might double-back and catch us, so we should try to cut around the outskirts of the forest. I know a way to get into camp from around the back," her gaze was fixed ahead, but considering the lack of other cats around, she was obviously talking to Asterpaw. "Should bring us out near the elder's den. Come on."

[ sorry for vanishing. here's a starter. ]
By the time that Feathersong had finished sorting herbs and had ensured that they had enough of most of the herbs, he could hear owls in the distance. This told him that it was night-time. With a moss-ball in his mouth, he padded out of the Medicine Den and towards the Nursery, tail swishing back and forth behind him. He paused momentarily before he pushed past the vines that covered the entrance, ears perked forward. The scent of the den was pleasant in itself; even now, as a young adult, he could remember the moons he'd spent there.
For a moment, he seemed lost - the moss-ball in his mouth confused his scents and his lack of sight did not particularly help. After what felt like too long, he found his way to Beetleshade.
"Hello," he greeted, dropping the moss-ball on the ground. "I brought this for Tawnykit with the spare moss I had," it seemed like a decent enough idea. A harmless toy that would, hopefully, please the kit. "How are you doing today?"
He sat down and let his tail move back and forth slowly. Truth be told, there were many excuses he could often think of to come to this place - it was just nice. It had a good atmosphere.

Talking to mothers and their kits seemed to be one of the more peaceful jobs that he had to do. Feathersong nodded along to Beetleshade's words, twitched his ears as he listened to the sound of Tawnykit playing. With one paw, he sought out the moss-ball before he batted it gently to see if that would entertain the kit. He always had to leave it up to his mentor to see if the kits were growing properly; it seemed that, once they hit a certain age, they began to protest against him poking them around.
"That's good," he mewed. "I'm doing relatively well. I will admit that I've been having some trouble with a semi-territorial rogue near a patch of catmint," one of his ears twitched, almost with irritation - but his usual calm nature won out. "But it's nothing I can't deal with. Is there anything I can get you, Beetleshade? If you want to get some fresh-air or anything, I'm here to help in whatever way I can."
He just wanted to make sure that the queen wasn't too stressed. There had been a case he'd heard about many moons ago; something about a queen rejecting her kits because of stress. If he could relieve any of that potential abandonment (though he supposed Tawnykit was old enough to be okay, by now), then he would do what he could.

For a moment, he counted back, trying to figure out Tawnykit's age. There were so many things that he found himself taking longer than he would've liked to admit - eventually, he exhaled and shook his head.
"She's a few moons old, Beetleshade," he said softly. "Kits grow quicker than you'd think. I'm sure Burntpetal could keep an eye - or if you want, I can get Poppytail here or I could stay here. Sometimes you need to take a break, even if it's only for a few moments."
Feathersong really didn't want any cat to overwork themselves. He twitched his ears as he listened to the sounds around him and shifted his weight from one side to the other.

"Perhaps..." Beetleshade sighed. She flattened her ears to her head nervously. "I just don't know if she'll do something miraculous, or perhaps get hurt or something, and I'll be out of camp when it happens." She explains, her tone agitated. (Sorry about the short post. )

Feathersong was aware that queens were prone to worrying. He tilted his head and thought about it. At Tawnykit's age, she was probably at an in-between in milestones unless she caught prey, which was...highly unlikely. That probably wasn't the best thing to tell the mother, though. He exhaled slowly through his mouth and tried his best to smile.
"Nothing will happen," he reassured her firmly. "She seems content to just play," he hoped. He couldn't see to confirm his words. "And if there are cats keeping an eye on her - which there will be - then she'll be okay. I understand your worries, though."
It seemed that as a Medicine Cat, he'd learned to take on the worries of others as if they were his own - but that was why he was there. To be an open ear and a source of comfort as well as just the cat who worked with herbs. It was a nice job, all things considered; he got to know the other cats of the Clan more easily than, say, a warrior would.
"As a Medicine Cat, I'm all but ordering you to take a few moments to yourself - you don't have to go outside. You can come into the camp with me, or you could even come to the Medicine Den. But you do need a rest, Beetleshade. Looking after a kit is hard work and sometimes you need to take some time to yourself. She's old enough for you to do so."

( Oh, okie! Thank you )
Asterpaw - Vixenpaw
Asterpaw had followed Vixenpaw, observing the area with close, sharp eyes. It was true, he was still slightly concerned-- and freaked out-- hence, he kept a close look out for anything in the surrounding area. Asterpaw was slightly confused on what the real goal was now. They were supposed to go up, find a quick route, but now, they were heading back down. It was odd that he had wanted to go, but perhaps it was due to Vixenpaw encouraging him with her sly phrasing.
The plain colored tom internally groaned at her words. The way Vixenpaw had spoke-- it wasn't like her usual, vexing manner. He couldn't help but think it was because of the bird that flew overhead the two. She was a small in size, and she could've been easily taken by the predator. A silent huff escaped through his hot nose, knowing that she was being completely different than her original state. Asterpaw, honestly admitted to himself, that he didn't like that she was so upset. Although he did decide to dismiss it, Asterpaw wanted to say something similar to "I wouldn't have let it get you", but instead, he held his tongue.
Her words echoed in his mind. Now thinking about it, he had caught the scent of the patrol. It was better that they hadn't caught the two just yet, and hopefully it would stay that way. The tom was slightly hurt at her odd attitude, but he didn't judge, knowing she was on edge. Asterpaw nodded in reply, knowing she wouldn't be able to see it unless she turned back around. He did pick up his pace, but gently spoke. "Are you okay?"

She really didn't want to leave Tawnykit, but could see that Feathersong had a point. She didn't want to become too stressed to properly look after her kit, did she? She sat up straighter. "Okay," She mewed. "But only for a little bit." That was an acceptable compromise for the she-cat.

Briarsong nodded proudly before turning back to face towards the fox. Crowstrike, noticing the fox was distracted, hurled himself at the flank of the vixen, attempting to knock her off balance, though while he had the chance he buried his claws into her. The tom was of substantial size, though he was still much smaller than the fox... Sootpaw watched, taking this chance to watch how the warriors fought, she didn't think she'd have to fight but she wanted to up her chances in battle by learning what she could in this moment.
(( Any of my characters could take some damage, though Crowstrike can take some real damage probably to one of his eyes. ))

Truth be told, Vixenpaw had thought that she was doing a rather good job at hiding her tenseness. When she was called out for it, she turned her head to glare at Asterpaw; but again, it fell short and she simply shot him a blank side-glance. She walked relatively quickly, pausing every time she heard a sound. There was something in the distance that she couldn't quite pick up - and she definitely didn't want to find out what it was, in case it was the fox. "I've never seen them before, only heard of them," she stated bluntly, pausing to scent the air. With her tail, she gestured for the other apprentice to follow as she padded quickly along the edge of the forest. It was weird to see the grasses becoming shorter until they gave away to rock, "y'know? They're bigger than I expected." Already, as they walked, she could scent the familiar scent of camp. It wasn't quite as comforting as she had expected, but it was, at least, something to know was safe. Vixenpaw hesitated before she gestured again and began to pad around, finally pushing her way through the grass to approach the sides of the camp. She slowed in her pawsteps and hesitated briefly, before she whipped around to Asterpaw. Fire lit up her eyes, a sharpness that hadn't been there a moment before. "You don't tell anybody about this - the bird - alright? They already think I'm weird, they don't need to think I'm a coward, too," her voice was low, near-dangerous - but more importantly, it was almost anxious-sounding. < | > Glad that the queen had come to her senses, Feathersong nodded and rose to his paws. He took a moment to take in the ever-changing scents around him before he padded towards the entrance of the den, pausing briefly to readjust himself so that he could head out and not into the wall. Once outside, he took a deep breath and swung his head around to see if he was being followed. "Do you want any prey?" he asked, tail-tip twitching. "There's a lot of it, since quite a few cats have been out hunting. I can smell a fawn over there, too." He wanted to make sure she had things to distract herself. It was no good, over-worrying about a kit; time passed far quicker than queens often expected, and apprentice-ship was an independent sort of thing. It would do Tawnykit no good if she became a -paw and still had Beetleshade worrying too much after her. < | > The vixen swung her head around and lashed out, seemingly at random. Her tail lashed back and forth as she shook her entire body, snarling and snapping at the cat who had latched his claws into her. She bucked a little and stumbled where she stood.
Snowfoot had no experience fighting these things - but she only hesitated for a moment before she glanced between the two other warriors and chose to follow Crowstrike's lead, biting down on one of the fox's back paws. She received a nasty kick to the chin and was shoved away briefly before she returned, instead choosing to attack the tail.
Where he had been pushed down, Ashstar remained, motionless. Owlpaw glanced at him before he looked at Briarsong and Sootpaw and, after a moment's hesitation, he mimicked them. It wasn't much as far as it went, but he wanted to be of some use and he hoped that this would be enough. The vixen continued to snarl and thrash, with no aim other than to harm and possibly kill. She seemed to know that she was outnumbered, and yet she still didn't give up. It was likely that her nest was nearby, and that she was protecting it.

@ sparkly: i think i've been more than fair. you say "sorry for short post" - it's the same length as your others. i was waiting to see if they'd get longer and actually be a paragraph, but they're not. you need to post more, i've asked for a paragraph that gives material to work with, and you don't do that. this is a semi-advanced roleplay and it says so in the rules. you have been actively breaking those rules.
@ zombie: okay!
