Falconfang sighed fondly, smiling softly as he padded towards the camp entrance, following Cinderpaw. He still remembered being an eager, excitable apprentice - And he loved those memories. He quickly reached the camp entrance, and he glanced around, looking over at Cinderpaw. He exited the camp, and looked around for danger. The tom hoped that there wouldn't be anything, but he just had to be on the safe side of things. (@borderline Here.)

( Snowfoot would do just fine ^^ )
Asterpaw - Vixenpaw Camp
The dark tom had flinched to the sudden words spoken. His warm optics has rose up to look at the approaching feline, and they widened in surprise. Never had he actually expected someone to approach him, nonetheless Vixenpaw. She had always chose to hang with ones who were younger or older than their age. Of course, Asterpaw had to confess, he did enjoy the company, but it was completely unexpected. He couldn't recall any times he had held a conversation with the female. Hesitantly, he forced a smile. Although this smile was placed onto his features slowly and sloppily, due to being tired, it was broad.
"Hi Vixenpaw." He sleepily mewed, holding back another yawn.
Asterpaw, beginning to come to his senses, observed the female. She appeared to be innocent, but he had a feeling it was something way beyond that. He took notice to how careful her walk was when she was close to finishing to approach him. The thought of her attempt had made the male cringe internally. Taking attention to her sitting, Asterpaw hummed quietly. "Which is..?"
The sight of her grinning had caused him to pin his ears against his head, knowing that her proposal wasn't going to be as great. Of course, he should've known, even if he was half asleep, that Vixenpaw was indeed troublesome. His paw was lifted to his short muzzle, and a pink tongue began to brush against his toes. He would occasionally, in the brief amount of time, pause his grooming to flex his paws, allowing his sharp claws to sheathe and unsheathe; a habit of his when he was listening.
Asterpaw ears were perked straight up as he tried concentrating on her words, even though he had known he didn't want to hear her ridiculous suggestion. Just she had gotten to explaining her suggestion, Asterpaw had froze: pink tongue sticking straight out of his chops, paw sticking up right next to his tongue, close but, never touching. He narrowed his amber eyes at Vixenpaw, slightly disapproving in her suggestion. "Late graduates aren't that bad. Going through the trial can be difficult, and finding a 'better' route is practically cheating, no?" Hesitating, he put his paw down firmly, tilting his head at the apprentice. "Besides, it could be dangerous if just the two of us went."

[ it's okay zombie ~ ]
Her head angled to the side a little more and she squinted thoughtfully. Tall ears twitched thoughtfully, and for a moment, the she-cat was in a world of her own; a world of thoughts, swirling around in her mind as she studied Asterpaw. Vixenpaw was a cat of sly thoughts and charming words, with promise to grow into a formidable warrior from her clever tongue alone. Her tail-tip twitched as she studied her fellow apprentice, and she wondered, briefly, if things were affected by being trained by a kittypet. Bravery had to be partially lost due to that, right?
"It's not cheating," her whiskers twitched, and she stood up to stretch. Her front half bowed down to the ground, her forelegs stretched out as did her claws, and for a moment, she looked, perhaps, very much like the animal she had been named after. "If you don't get caught," she amended her own words, oversized fangs bared briefly.
She didn't like the idea of being average, of being a late graduate. Vixenpaw wanted to be the best, wanted to prove her worth; cats were wary of her because of her so-called skill, for her odd past; she didn't want to disappoint MoltenClan, and, for some reason, being average rather than better was worse than failing entirely, in her opinion. She was as fiery as most suspected her of being, though perhaps her strong ambitions promised for trouble in later life, if she didn't mellow down. Because, after all - she didn't want to just be one of the best. No. She wanted to be the best, which meant pushing past the others and standing tall, which meant showing her worth in a blaze of glory.
Even if it was dangerous.
"Of course it'll be dangerous." the she-cat's eyes rolled up as if to say what do you expect? before she settled down again, this time in a standing position. "There's a rogue fox pacing the territory," though she wasn't at all concerned about that, "and the mountain is dangerous. The difference between this exploration and a real Trial would be that we can leave at any point in time."
Besides - she'd heard that it was the upper-section of the mountain that held more perils than the rest.

I wasn't going to interject in this situation, but clearly you're not reading what X told you. He told you that he couldn't respond to a response that was simply "he walked" and this response - if you take away all the padding - is simply "he walked". Just because it is longer does not mean it's a good response. There's no meat to it and he can't respond to it, so please oblige by the rules.
Sure, the rules state that the minimum is a good paragraph, but it also includes something your partner can respond to. This will only get you a one liner in response. Please fix it.

Asterpaw - Vixenpaw Camp
He watched with careful eyes. Of course, she was attempting to convince him to go. Asterpaw knew she was clever and sly, but he knew she wanted trouble. Although, he had to admit, he wasn't scared to go but it was more that he wanted to keep his pelt before becoming a warrior. However, he was nervous. What if they truly came across something? What would his adoptive sister and mentor say? What would they think? His tongue brushed over his teeth in thought as he watched Vixenpaw was observant orbs. More importantly, Asterpaw wondered what Vixenpaw was thinking. The way she was watching him had made Asterpaw uncomfortable. He shuffled his paws slightly to dismiss the sudden feeling.
Asterpaw was listening, but he couldn't help but continue to observe the apprentice. Once she finished her sentence, a small sigh in disappointment escaped him. The blue feline closed his eyes shut as he put his muzzle towards the ground. Of course she would say that. Now that he thought about it, Vixenpaw wasn't that bad. She did seem troublesome, but maybe she would help him lighten up a bit more. After all, he had been tense lately. Her words seem to echo in his mind and he couldn't help but mutter, "It's still cheating.."
The attitude of Vixenpaw made him purr slightly. Sure, she was troublesome, but she was definitely something else. It seemed, to be a troublemaker, was in her nature. Deep down, Asterpaw could help but feel that there was something beyond that. She definitely held potential, yes. But there was something more than that. Asterpaw just.. couldn't put his paw on it. With a small smile, he came to a realization that should've talked to her sooner. That was to conclude his thoughts, and when male blinked, he broke from his mind.
Noticing the roll of her eyes, Asterpaw stood incorrect of his growing opinion. Perhaps there was just sarcasm he had saw. Although he was much more awake than before, he was still too tired to smirk at his own thought. He arose and, instantly, a small yawn took a chance and escaped from his jaws. But once hearing Vixenpaw's more.. casual announcement, he groaned. "Alright. A fox roaming around. That's always fun." The male muttered sarcastically-- more to himself. Asterpaw begin to walk forward, towards the mouth of camp.

Vixenpaw replying to Asterpaw
In her opinion, there was a fine line between cheating and checking something out. It (technically) wasn't against Clan rules to go out to the mountain; she'd seen (and heard of) warriors leave to go up to the mountain when they wanted to catch goats, or go to the mountain to get feathers for their beloved ones! There were plenty of reasons to go to the volcano and, while her intentions were not exactly innocent, it technically didn't count as cheating. After all - if they didn't go up to the Lake of Lava, then they weren't following the Trial route, were they? It seemed logical to her to try to map out some sort of vague idea of a route at first. The amount of cats who failed it...intimidated her, to be honest.
Her grin continued on, ears perked up and tail swaying back and forth. To be honest, she didn't exactly expect Asterpaw to go along with her (mildly foolish) plan - and yet! And yet. She watched with mild surprise as the other apprentice began moving and she hesitated only briefly before she padded along delicately, tail held high in the air.
Success, she thought, a soft purr rumbling through her chest. As she pushed through the entrance of the camp, she wondered what would lay in wait for them. The tom's muttering was picked up by her keen hearing, and she laughed softly - a mischievous sound, no doubt.
"It's fine," she said. "You're with me - I'm like, the fox whisperer," her tongue stuck out as she said this, as if mildly displeased by the idea of being such a thing. Vixenpaw shook her head a little and pounced forward. Despite her smaller paws and stature, she appeared quick confident to move quickly; she held a long gait and took bouncing strides from time to time, thus resulting in her pace becoming quick. "If you really want, we could like, hunt or something. As a cover, in case we get caught."
Though...the fresh-kill pile looked a little full - she decided not to mention that, and instead paused, paws on a fallen log, and turned to look at Asterpaw. Her eyes glinted, and her chest was puffed out; it was clear that she was ready for the adventure ahead, even with the dangers they would likely face.

Asterpaw - Vixenpaw
Asterpaw eyed the apprentice's movements with warm eyes. He was slightly embarrassed she had caught onto his muttering, but with a small smile, he looked down. A breathy laugh escaped the male, hearing her small, reassuring joke. Fox whisperer, He scoffed internally. Vixenpaw was an odd character, no doubt. Looking up, Asterpaw could only acknowledge how he was walking-- Long, subconscious careful, strides due to his slender legs. He never felt himself bounce though, maybe due to his elegant balance, of course that never meant he wasn't bouncing though, but he was much more upright when walking. Never taking his attention away from Vixenpaw, the tom began to observe everything around him. "Alright."
Yes, he had looked at Vixenpaw for a moment of time, but before he knew it, Asterpaw turned his interest to himself. His dark pelt had shone and although it was wiry, which he had taken note of, it had still looked neat. Asterpaw felt pride surge through him. A trouble of the pupil's was taking care to his pelt. When he had looked down, at his paws, he noticed Vixenpaw's on a log. Not realizing he hadn't stopped, the sudden feeling of him tripping and landing on the floor with a thud made him huff. Somehow he had resulted on his back, looking up at the female with wide eyes. It didn't last long though, as he narrowed his eyes at her in thought. Of course, it was definitely look he didn't like. Maybe it was the fact that he knew he was going off with Vixenpaw and, possibly, to get into trouble. He murmured, "I don't trust that look.." Quickly perceiving that he was still on the floor, Asterpaw jumped upwards and shook his pelt. A soft, embarrassed sigh escaped him as he directed his orbs down, avoiding her eye contact. "Let's just go already."

Vixenpaw replying to Asterpaw.
All of her potential appeared to be something that would no doubt appear once she came into her prime; though she held absolutely no promise for being larger than she already was. She'd made peace with that (sort of), and accepted it in stride as it meant potential for other things, probably. She didn't know. The world was full of mysteries and why she was small was not one of them. Probably parents, she had thought, the first time she'd considered it.
She squinted at Asterpaw with her grin widening. Her laugh rang out softly at his words - let's just go already - and she hopped from the log and continued her pace at a quick trot, tail held high in the air. The scents of the forest passed her nose, promising that prey was as plentiful as ever and that the fox scent was stale, but ever-present. She wondered if there was a way to chase it out - but decided against it, as it sounded dangerous and a little unnerving. Vixenpaw shook her head and continued her pace to the looming mountain.
With the cloud layer almost (but not quite) covering the top, she wondered - was it hot, or was it cold? The Lake of Lava promised that it would be very hot, but the cloud layer was supposed to be cold, right? Or, she wondered idly, was that why the top of the mountain steamed? She didn't know, but as they drew closer to the mountain, she knew that it became a little warmer. The familiar open-land of the base of the mountain held the wide, warm sunning boulders. It was tempting to remain here; but her mission was a dangerous one, and she turned her head to look at her companion.
"What do you think is on the mountain?" she asked, simply to fill the silence. "Aside from lava and goats, I mean. Do you think birds of prey are more common there?"
As if to answer her question, a long, intimidating caw came from somewhere high-up. A little intimidated, Vixenpaw looked up and tensed. I could probably be carried off, she thought, though she doubted it. She was close enough to adulthood, right? Birds of prey didn't go for adult cats. Probably.

( It's fine really! I was delayed a bit yesterday as well. So I apologize for that too c: )
Asterpaw - Vixenpaw
The sound of laughter erupted his ears, and he couldn't help but let a puff of air out through his nose. Was he embarrassed that he fell? Yes. It was completely idiotic of him too. They were supposed to be hunting. Hunting for a faster path up to the mountain. That required keen eyes, and to which, Asterpaw apparently didn't have. What caught his attention was the smell of the outside of camp-- the forest. He did catch the scent of fox, but he wasn't too worried because it wasn't as fresh. Looking over to the dark ginger apprentice, Asterpaw watched with bright eyes.
Caught off guard by her question, Asterpaw turned his amber gaze towards the mountain. Opening his mouth came a cry of a bird which stunned the blue male. He certainly didn't make that noise, and he looked around to find the bird, but to no avail on spotting it. "I'm sure there is, especially judging by that noise." He had to admit, he didn't like the sound of the bird, but he wasn't all entirely intimidated. But he was still aware of his surroundings, prepared for anything to happen. Asterpaw turned his cranium back towards his fellow apprentice, and couldn't help but grin at Vixenpaw's tensed form, which brought him out of intimidation. "You're not scared, are you?" The student paused, his voice that was coated with a teasing manner was now completely abandoned and replaced with a reassuring, protective tone. His goofy grin still plastered onto his face, "If you think it's going to grab you, it will have to go through me."

[ @ zombie: ah, that was nice of the police officer! how did she escape? :0
@ twi: it's okay~ i'm relatively slow from time to time & some days i just don't feel like rping, so there's no pressure c: ]
Vixenpaw replying to Asterpaw.
The fur running along her spine rose as the bird cried out again, and she wondered if that was the true danger. Not the potential exhaustion or the constant climbing, not the short time frame - the predators. She swallowed thickly and shook her head, crouching only momentarily before she pounced upwards and climbed up to the start of the path, to speed the process up. Once she was settled on the rocky path upwards, she turned to look at Asterpaw.
"I'm not scared," she said, though her voice was an octave higher than usual. "It is not going to get me. I'm not that small."
I am that small, she corrected in her mind, but decided not to say out loud. Vixenpaw enjoyed the illusion that she was more mature, more elegant than she truly was; she enjoyed being able to use certain aspects of her appearance to her advantage, but she had to admit - there was definitely a problem in being the size that she was. Though she held reasonable doubt that the bird would swoop down to catch her, she was still glad of the company of another; it certainly helped that he was larger than she was, and had to look like a threat when viewed from above.
"Come on," the she-cat mewed, turning her head to look up. "We're definitely not climbing all of this, but I think we can make a decent amount of progress. The path only goes so far, I think."
