Angelique ran a hand through her messy waves, picking up her leather bag again and putting the sketchbook she had dropped back inside. Slipping it over her shoulders, she went down the stairs and rounded the corner into the kitchen. No one was there, thankfully, and she went into the fridge to see if anything was inside. She wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't.
There was no perishable food, but she did spot a cluster of water bottles. Grabbing one, she headed out the front door. She didn't know where her Dad was, probably handling the other kids, and didn't really see any reason to tell him where she was going. She wanted to explore the neighborhood, see if she could find some places her and the rest of her sisters could enjoy.
So when she stepped out the door, her Father sitting on the porch steps was a surprise. Wasn't he inside a couple of moments ago..?
It was growing dark out, her favorite time of the day. The hidden purpose of her walk was to let her ability loose and allow her to communicate with a few shadows she could coax out. Plus, she wanted some time to practice.
"Um.." She shuffled her boots awkwardly on the wooden porch as she stood behind him.
"'M just gonna go for a walk, y'know..?" She mumbled, looking at anything, anything but her Dad.
X walked ahead of her and onto the lawn. It peered into the darkening streets before looking back at its favorite human and its ancestor. It gave a little huff of impatience, wanting to go interact with other creatures of the night. It blinked, the hundreds of eyes appearing all over its body before disappearing in a second.

Lawrence watched as everyone dispersed, then smiled. A perfect chance. As Angelique headed downstairs, he waited a few moments, then began to follow. He had seen that strange thing at her feet when they were moving in, but had yet to get a chance to ask about it. Perhaps it was just some strange cat, but he hadn't seen it again and there had been no mention of a family pet. Making his way downstairs, he slowed as he heard her voice just outside the front door talking to someone, and he surreptitiously leaned against wall beside the door, just out of sight, but close enough to hear what was going on.

Lyle blinked turning his attention over to Angelique, "Hello there deary." he smiled in a greeting, "Going for a walk?" He raised a curious brow, "Well..." He gazed out seeing as it was getting darker. This was concerning him slightly, but he too knew that she would be okay, obviously..... "W-Well.... as long as you don't stray too off.." He considered with a tad of concern in his voice. "I-I...I could always tag along if...." His voice trailed off glimpsing over at X, he knew she would be okay, but still he cared for her well being deeply. "If-If you want..." He stated, "If not that's fine... go out and don't get lost."

She hadn't noticed Lawrence trailing after her. On a normal day, maybe. But her body was filled to the brim with energy and if she didn't leave that house, well.. her ability might let loose. She couldn't imagine her father trying to explain to the others why there were black butterflies flitting around each room, or why there was a disfigured creature standing in the living room.
She walked down the steps so she was in front of her Father and bent down to scoop X in her arms. It made a yowling sound and batted at her hair, wanting to leave as soon as possible.
"You don't have to, if you don't want." She shrugged, holding X close. "I don't want to bother you.." She trailed off. Sometimes when she used her ability around him, he seemed.. off.
There was an awkward pause as she hesitated, wanting to say something but not finding the right words.
"I'm sorry.. about earlier. Just.. you brought up Mom and.." her brow furrowed. "I don't like being in a new environment and being pressured to do things I don't want." She muttered

Lyle kept a calm expression as he allowed his daughter to express herself. He knew this transition was hard, especially for her and the abilities that she wielded of the dark. He stood up and wrapped his arms around her to pull her in. "Give it time, okay? Just... please.... give it time, and take the space you need." He encouraged gently. "If you really don't want me to join you on your walk, that is more then fine, but just know that you nor anyone of your siblings will ever be a bother to me." He added.
"I will put up with any trials that come our way, and over come them just to see each and everyone of you smile. We've made it this far, and I'm certain that we will be able to slowly overtime transition through this together." He pulled away from her and jumped down the porch to meet her at ground level. "-but as I said, you will never be a bother to me, nor will X..." He paused to gaze out, "This has been a rough day, and I have every right to worry about all of your well beings. In this case I know the consequences of your stress, for that reason I always will be here for you. Even when you leave to walk your own path, i'll always be here to listen to your sorrows, and struggles to remind you that you can and will overcome it all." He placed a hand on her shoulder. "So with that in mind, may I have the honor of accompanying you?" He smiled encouragingly.

(Shining could choose for the powered kids, and for the unpowered kids I was thinking that their dad died 5 or 6 six years ago.)
Anna bent down slightly and hugged Ro, before smoothing her hair and thinking for a moment. "Well, do you remember if you put him in with your other animals or with your bedding and lamp?" She asked, realizing that she didn't remember exactly where her daughter had finally decided to back her bear. "I think both boxes should be brought inside, anyway, so why don't we go have a look in the moving truck?".

Angelique inwardly smiled at her Father's hug, embracing the warmth it gave her. When he was a single parent, life had been extremely stressful for everyone. She had to get a job at a flower shop, much to her distaste because she hated socializing and everyone was so cheerful there, to help support with all of the bills they were receiving. But her Father continued to act as if nothing wrong, keeping a cheerful aura in their home. But when he met Anna, his energy increased tenfold.
In a way, she should thank the other woman for making her Father's life somewhat happy again, giving him some other pleasure besides his children. She'd never admit to Anna's face though.
X gave another yowl of protest when it was trapped between two warm human bodies, clearly uncomfortable.
She smiled down at it and rubbed her thumb over its head soothingly, glancing up as she listened to her Father speak. There it was again, his encouraging attitude. It was a blessing, really. With all of the abilities in her family, it was hard not to feel like an outsider to the rest of the world. Dad had always been there for the girls, always soothing them and telling them that their abilities were not made to make them feel alone.
"Thanks Dad, really." She smiled slightly, her mood lifting. "And yeah, I'd love for you to join me."

Lyle nodded positively, "right then, off we go." He gently shooed her along the back with his hand. "Where ever you feel best to explore and I'll follow. Then if you get lost we'll find our way back together." He lightly joked at the thought. "I'll just text your sister to let her know that the pizza is on its way and paid for." He quickly tested Skylar to let her know. After he put his phone away and followed along. "Now, on the topic there is a place I found that you might like, it's a slight walk but I'm certain you'll like it."

Ro looked at her mother and her brows furrowed as she thought. "I think I put him with the rest of his friends," Ro told her mother as she took her hand to start to lead her to the moving van. "Let's find Beary, Mama," she said excitedly. She beamed at her mother and pulled her along with her.

X had jumped out of her hands as they started to walk. Its body began to stretch and mutate until it formed into a large cat, similar to a lion. This would make walking easier for X. It wouldn't have to walk four steps to catch up to only one of Angelique's.
She turned to him as they walked, her eyes bright with curiosity. They were another feature that made her feel closer to her Dad; their eyes were the same.
"That was quick." She commented thoughtfully, "Can we go?? You know I don't mind the walk!"
Her tone was eager, she sounded as if she was a four year old in a candy store and was just told she could choose whatever candies she desired.
She could feel her neck starting to prickle and goosebumps racing up and down her arms. This usually happened when shadows were nearby, ones that were quite eager to communicate with a person of the Living.
She rubbed her arms to rid of them, inhaling lightly to control herself and wait until the said spot her Father had mentioned.
X looked at her, brushing its side against hers when it noticed her discontent. She smiled down at it and rubbed its mane, reassuring it that she would be alright.

"HaHa!" He followed after with a rather childish laugh, he couldn't help but appreciate the childlike side of his kids. That's what made them, then. To him, they would always be his little girls. "Yes of course we can go! The night is young, and I'm certain that we'll find quite a bit. Though it will involve a small walk through wildlife at the end of the road." He waved acatious finger.
His attention turned back to X. Stable..... good.... reliving... He thought, then turned his attention back to the landscape before them. Her shadow abilities always made put him on the edge, but it was more for a different purpose then she may be thinking for. It's just a shadow.... She was blessed enough to have that and not the other form...... "I-If you feel like you are a little overwhelmed let me know...and don't hold it in until the last second, please..." his voice held compassion and concern for the well. Being of his daughter. They all had a place in his heart, and he couldn't bare to see them suffer.
"Anyways... we'll make our way for that special spot in no time. I'm certain that we'll approach it and you won't realize it." He chuckled at the thought.

Angelique looked back at her Father, a small smile settling on her face again. "I've got you and X, that's all I need for protection." She mused, even though her Father had never shown if he had an ability. Still, he had quick thinking that had gotten her and her sisters out of trouble many times. "Don't worry, alright?" She said softly, trying to appease his worries. He had enough to begin with.
She knew he said that because it had happened before, her holding everything in. It was during the time when her ability first came forward and she was at a loss on what to do with it. She hadn't told anyone though, not wanting to seem weak. She lasted five days with no sleep, the shadows always whispering and hissing in her ears until finally, she hurried into her Father's room for him to quench her fears.
"A little wilderness never hurt anyone, we'll be okay." She shrugged, sending him a playful glare when he commented that she wouldn't know the place as soon as they stepped into it. "I'll figure it out." She sniffed, indignant.

(Relax! The movie delivers like it should. It has something for everyone, character, plot, moral, and humor. Let me tell you though the darkest thing that they will say is simply "killing people" but it's never shown, just mentioned as a mishap in one conversation.) (Let me tell ya the characters are entertaining. However the romance in my opinion lacks, but that was sorta needed to drive the story. Other then that you will enjoy it.  )) "X and myself huh? If anything X will be doing all the fighting." He lightly joked, yet couldn't help but twitch every now and then when X stared. He kept his shivers to himself though, as this wasnt going to stop him from having a pleasant time with his daughter. "Even though you have X you need to continue controlling your common sense, and keep a firm view of reality. X is just one of many shadows out there, and I assure you there are many types of entities out there stronger, and in some cases act different then how X and you bond. You are blessed to be able to manipulate shadows, and communicate but others are cursed with shadows that emit nothing but fear to those around them. In some cases that shadow feeds off the fear of the host's loved ones. It makes showing emotion difficult, for that type of shadow will take advantage of their host's emotions to simply cause fear and havoc." He pulled her in close. "Then there is the shadows of once living... who we have yet to consider..... we don't know what they want nor why they come to contact with the living. Yet they take advantage of one with abilities such as yours to carry out their deeds, even at the cost of possession. Yet... it's not easy to possess one with the abilities to manipulate shadows because of the intense mental training one must endure. However... I encourage you to use your abilities to keep the ones you cherish at bay. All the unnatural and unexplainable things that happen to people can be avoided if you and X take action , or assure thAt wandering soul that this is no place to mess with." He lectured, while walking alongside her; his expression calm and appreciative of the night sky. "Telling me not to worry only makes me worry more, kiddo!" Lyle slightly nudged her in a jokingly manor. He knew X was protective of its master, and yet he couldn't help but wonder if X disliked him in any way. "Oh... Well maybe head a little north west from here." He hinted as trees began to grow in numbers. They were approaching the nearby woods, and it would only be a small matter of time before they made it to the clearing. |

Skylar shook her head. ''I haven't been in the basement, no,'' she admitted, eyeing the door warily. Shadows and darkness were Angelique's thing, not hers. She didn't mind X-- she couldn't talk to it like she could most animals, but she could somewhat sense when her sister's shadow-creature was around, since it was esentially a creature-- and she wasn't afraid of the dark, but typically dark places attracted nasty things like spiders, which she could communicate with and greatly disliked. ''And I don't feel like going in there now, so don't ask!'' She added sharply.
It was then that her phone vibrated, and she pulled it out of her pocket; her father had texted her to say that he was going out with Angelique and that pizza was on its way. Part of her felt faintly jealous that her father and sister were spending time together, but she ignored the feeling, going to sit in one of the dining room chairs that the movers had brought in.

Angelique listened to her Father's lecture. They weren't uncommon, she was used to them. It was safe to say that her ability was one of the more dangerous ones among her siblings. That kind of pressure was exhausting and was what caused her wary nature. Possession was something he had discussed multiple times and it was a subject she was anxious about. She was still young and didn't have as much control over her ability as she would've liked.
"I know, Dad.." She trailed off, her brain muddled with thoughts. She desperately wanted to ask him why he knew so much about this topic, his knowledge was extensive. But she kept her mouth shut, not wanting to prod into anything that wasn't her business.
"'M just really grateful that I have the both of you." Angelique admitted, looking down at X before glancing at her Father.
"Yeah yeah, I'm going." She grumbled, heading into the tree. At this time, she was glad she had thrown on an oversized sweater before her venture outdoors. Bugs were attracted to her, but she was not at all attracted to them.

Lyle paced after her, curiosity now picking at him. He was used to lecturing not only his children, but his students as well, and yet he couldn't help but admit that his own children would eventually be annoyed with his own lectures. Perhaps he over-did it this time, but for that same reason that he was her father, he would be willing to lecture them all over and over again until they were all sick of it. He shook that side thought out and decided to bring up his curiosity.
"What's with that tone, young lady? It seemed unfulfilled. Usually when you tell me that you know something, it seems ratherannoyed. This time it sounded like i haven't fulfilled your desire for knowledge. Come on now, speak up and tell me your troubles." He encouraged.
He gazed up ahead to keep a clear eye on the clearing. They weren't too far from the clearing he wanted to show her, on top of that the waterfall would be close as well, and illuminating a green fresh glow from the moss in the rocks under the water, reflecting from the moonlight. The clearing in particular that he wanted to show her was a large grassy patch, by which the trees overlapped one another, hardly allowing any sunlight or moonlight to penetrate through at almost any hour. He considered it as a place to show her since, she enjoyed the cool shader spots. On top of that the little moonlight that did penetrate through, seemed almost gorgeous.

Angelique took her lip between her teeth, unsure of what to say. She greedily wanted to know why, why he knew so much about her ability. But he could've just looked it up, right? In order to help his children? It seemed like something he'd do, he was a teacher after all and was surrounded by knowledge constantly.
She considered lying to him. She was a teenage girl, it was something she'd done before. But she had never lied about anything that dealt with her ability, it seemed wrong to hide anything that had to do with something so important.
"I was just wondering why you know so much, that's all." She nonchalantly answered, shrugging her shoulders. "But it's probably because you're surrounded by books all the time, no?" Angelique added, covering up the true question that laid underneath.
She absentmindedly petted X's mane, distracting the anxiety that seemed to be radiating from her. She didn't want to upset him with her question, she was just geninuely concerned and confused.
Trying to turn her attention away from their previous topic, she allowed her mind to wonder about where he was taking her. She strained her ears, trying to find even the slightest hint. She was met with the small sound of a trickle of water, barely heard among the rustle of trees and chirping of crickets.

Now that sort of question was something he wasn't expecting. Yet her posture and tone, when she asked the question said it all. Perhaps... this is one of many questions she's been holding in..... once we start this line of questioning it's only a matter of time before we reach the one question I don't want-b-but it's also my job as her father to secure that she is safe and well. Should i not help ease her troubles, then it'll build up making X capable of who knows what.....
Lyle smiled and paced ahead until he was in front of Angelique; then he turned around and began sliding across the forest floor backwards on his toes. "Well... I guess you can say it was through knowledge. Every part of the world has a different way to approach shadows. So collecting the different forms of knowledge I sorta pieced together the overlapping parts to conclude what I know." His voice was calm, and overjoyed at the simple thought of onowledge. Yet for the next part his voice changed to a more intrigued tone, "On top of that, the more detailed information was provided by your gradnparents. Apparently someone else in the family has an ability similar to yours. So.. it almost seems like a blood thing." He slightly tilted his head, at the thought, to indicate his questioning for who else may have the ability.
He stopped and held it his arms when he came near the edge of the water, where the waterfall was roaring over his back. The green moss on the rocks almost created a green glow from the moon's light. "Now this is kinda what i wanted to show your sister, Skylar but then .." He pointed to his right "two clearing down from here I found a large patch of grass, and trees overlapping each other that the sun hardly ever penetrates the clearing. It almost appears to always be a cloudy or almost no sunny day." He explained. "Thought you might like the clearing up ahead, because of cool steadiness provided." He cheerfully added , as he walked away from the edge of the water.
