Leo "It is my duty to protect you." ◢ ♚ ╸◇╺ ♚ ◣ It was the little misleading creature in front of him that could seem to drop the temperature at will. Those shadows around him, he disliked them. But he put up with them because he cared about the twelve others that he lived with, that he commanded, that he called his friends, his make-shift family, their Celestial blood being what held them so closely together. Growing up in a separate world was difficult, but it also had made him more fond of each and every one of the zodiacs. Sure, he didn't say a lot, but when he spoke, it counted.
That was the whole reason why he was here. There wasn't a thing he didn't pick up, not the room temperature seeming to drop, not the tension that was in the room. He could feel it, the air heavy, like a strained wooden plank that could snap at any moment. The fear he felt when seeing this small individual, the burning desire to protect himself, to do something other than stand there and do whatever the little creature-no, not even creature described him accurately. He was a monster, a demon the devil himself. He would do whatever the little demon asked of him, just to make sure everyone was safe.
Of course, there was that feeling of another's eyes on him. Not Shou's, but the other person's. Greed. He had met more than a few of the others, he knew most of them by name. Kenzy Sakura was one of them, the incarnation of Envy. So this must be Greed, one of the other male ones. He knew of Gluttony too, and Greed was far too handsome to be Gluttony. However, he didn't know this one that was filled with avarice's name. He swore he might have heard it once or twice, but the name didn't come to mind. To keep an eye on Libra, maybe's he'd learn this one's name. Maybe not.
The primary focus of his, however, was Pride the Arrogant. What a fitting full title. Every single one of them had a title like that and Tadashi knew them by heart. Pride the Arrogant, Envy the Jealous, Greed the Avaricious, Gluttony the Voracious, Lust the Lascivious, Wrath the Furious and, lastly, Sloth the Indolent. Every single one of them had a name, a general color and an animal. Pride was the only one of them with three; the horse, the lion and the peacock. Lust had two animals; the snake and the cow. He was well accustomed to them all and knew which ones they countered. Envy was after the Gemini twins, Lust was after Scorpio, Greed was after Libra, Gluttony was after Pisces, Wrath was after Aries, Sloth was after Capricorn and Pride was the direct counter to Leo himself. While he didn't know them, he knew about their sins, what they were more likely to do, what they were more likely to be after and their likely form. Of course, he didn't know what they'd actually look like until he seen them himself. And he had seen pretty much every single one of the sins at one point or another. Maybe he didn't know them, but he had seen a glimpse of them once or twice at least up to this point. And this individual whom was nearby as well, was most definitely Greed.
Tadashi gave a small hum at Pride's statement, nothing really showing at it. To be honest, his mind went over everyone's name, trying to figure out who might be the one to notice that he was gone. The twins? Perhaps, since they already had seen him going out before. Maybe Kohaku? The sign of Scorpio seemed to be all over the place and concerned about everyone in his own special, amusing, way. Perhaps Haru or Natsumi? They were both pretty observant. Ah, who could say? Maybe it was Hotaru or Hideki for all he knew. He didn't have a question nor an answer for what Shou had stated.
A simple, short hum was given once again at the slight warning. "Ah." Once again, not a word wasted. This was where he tended to go, and while it wouldn't be an answer that someone would find suspicious (at least that Tadashi knew of), being that he put on a front that he was pretty close with Shou and nearly attached to him whenever they were elsewhere, anywhere but in full privacy, there was still the possibility of someone being too smart for their own good. And a question about anyone not liking Shou would definitely raise suspicion to say the least.
For some reason, a completely crazy and irrational idea came into his mind.
"How about you come visit?" It would almost be safer. It was more believable that someone so tiny and cute as well as childishly adorable would want to go visit his "close friend" before school, perhaps ask about school-work or anything like that. Besides, keeping your friends close was one thing, but perhaps having your enemies closer wasn't too bad of an idea. If Shou considered the zodiacs amusing then they still had time before he grew bored. Of course, they hadn't really done anything to interfere with him and his little group. When the time came however... what would they do then, when their own shadows weren't safe?
Even so, it wasn't like their house was hidden to Shou. He already knew where they lived, it seemed, and was very observant of how everyone acted. Their strengths, their weaknesses, with those shadows of his, he could probably see anything and everything he desired. They were not, under any circumstances, safe from Pride and his Shadows. He was already there to begin with, so there was no way of avoiding it. Bringing his physical misleading body there made no difference. If he really wanted to, he could have killed them all in their sleep many times over by now.

[ okay but in all seriousness rip everyone. pride is literally everywhere and he's so powerful... good thing the zodiacs are pretty powerful too. then again... still, rip everyone. up against the seven they're... really at a disadvantage.
they're apparently similar in a few different ways. how ironic. ]

Greed "Greed may not be good, but it's not so bad, either. You humans think Greed is just for money and for power, but everyone wants something they don't have." a v a r i t i a — ❦ ❦ ❦ —
“How about you come visit?”
Had he lost his mind? Had he been hypnotized?
Had someone put something in his food the other night? Had someone cooked something so badly that his mind was clouding up and he was losing his sense of judgement?
The sudden bizzare inquiry made him halt, and he eyed the Lion incredulously with his eyebrows slowly furrowing together. He surely must’ve lost his mind, there was no other way to explain it. If his ears were still functioning properly, he was inviting the Shadow - the monster of them all - over to his home.
It left him wondering whether if the Lion was slowly cracking underneath the pressure, even though deep down, he could tell that in truth, Leo wasn’t; his eyes were still too clear and protective and adamant for him to have shattered. Sure, if he paused to think, the circumstance made sense to some degree; Pride was aware of where they lived and he was able to see everything and anything with that irritatingly omnipotent eye of his, so either way, there was no point in trying to hide from him while exerting an unreasonable amount of effort. After all, what was to come out of hiding from something that was already there, waiting and watching?
Nevertheless, the question had still caught him off guard. He was watching a lion inviting its worst nightmare to its den, to where his family lived.
What an interesting turnabout this was.
But that thought vanished when he glanced down, only to spot the large, vacant eyes of the Shadow change; a hardened glint had formed in his hone-brown orbs that hadn’t been there merely seconds ago, and the soft stretch of his lips disappeared instantaneously. “I’m not sure I understand what you’re talking about, Tadashi.” When he spoke, his voice was no longer light-heartedly sweet, but laced with undesirable ice. Everything about his expression that had made him appear to be a meek porcelain doll vanished as if it had never been there in the first place. Right now, he was the container of living hell itself.
“I’m already there, right beside everyone. I see the Gemini twins sitting on the roof surveying everything, I see Scorpio outside waiting for you, and I see Pisces thinking, not too far away from where it stands. I see Virgo and Capricorn conversing and laughing, and I see Sagittarius cooking with that human of yours, all oblivious to their own reflections right beneath their feet.”
He watched, half-mesmerized and half-horrified as a gentle curve took possession of the devoid doll’s lips once more, radiating with raw malice. The meaning was all too clear, spoken through the undercurrent of the words:
Since when did I have to ask for your permission to visit?
All around him, he felt something pulse through the shadows - whether it was ire or irritation, he didn’t know - as they moved in a deliberate and aggravated manner. They clamped around the Lion’s ankle and wrists like the little teeth of a piranha, and Greed knew that the Shadow was applying pressure to his back that would most likely make him feel as if his spine would snap and his whole body would be wrenched out of shape. The Lion wasn’t the first victim to have felt Pride’s glorification firsthand; thinking about it alone made him feel another round of nausea. Even so, he wasn't entirely certain; the display could have been for show, or, it truly could have been the real thing. If it was the real thing, he was definitely a little sympathetic of the Lion.
Then, abruptly, like an air vacuum coming to a stop with the press of a button, the shadows vanished without a trace, leaving their side entirely. Air seemed to ram back into his lungs in a split second, and if he had been human, he was certain the force would’ve sent him reeling backwards.
Letting go of the hem of his sleeve, Chiba Shou took a step forward with a chillingly endearing smile taking ahold of his lips; he could almost swear that he saw flowers growing around the smaller individual’s head. “If I visit, I’ll be able to meet all of them in person, won’t I?” Twirling around, he watched as the honey-eyed individual then said: “I wonder if there’ll be snacks; it’d be nice to eat and give them my attention one by one. Yusuke, let Kenzy know about this, okay?”
Great, he was dealing with one crazy dastard after another. It was everything he’d just simply wished for on a Monday morning.
In that moment, however, he was just thankful that he wasn’t Pride’s enemy.
Without swiveling around, the short and innocent youth bounded over to their entryway and held the door open for the Lion, holding the door using his foot. But it was strange; for such a small individual, he had an abnormally long shadow, and his delicately loving smile did not quite reach his eyes. “After you, King.”
Scorpio "Supporting another's success won't ever dampen yours." resilient, dramatic, wise, passionate — ❦ ❦ ❦ —
He was pacing back and forth in front of their house restlessly with his hands behind his back.
His eyebrows were furrowed together, though to see his current circumstance from a third-eye was, he imagined, more humorous than anything; unless the air around him changed deliberately, he tended to be exteriorly effervescent for a myriad of matters, after all. It made it difficult for most to perceive when and what he was thinking, unless they were, by any means, on close terms with him.
In any case, he came to a halt when he heard a calm voice from his side say, “You’re giving me a headache, Kitamura-san. Stay still for a moment.”
Glancing over his shoulder, he saw none other than Haru sitting on one of the rocks dispatched near their home with a notebook and pen in her hand. Her concentration and attention was intently focused on the papers lying on her lap, and for that moment, he saw the sharper aspect of her personality emerge; her dark eyes were piercing, calculating, and her hands seemed to be machined with little wires that allowed her to write precisely, without wasting any movement. If he hadn’t known her for who she was, his impression of her most likely would’ve been an impassive figure.
Bounding over to where she sat, he peered over her shoulder as he said, “Whatcha writing, Haru-chan? Hey, Haru-chan?” He glanced over her other shoulder. “Ha~ru-chan!” He was genuinely curious about what she seemed to be so deeply concentrated with; it wasn’t often something could make the dark-haired villain individual lock in a long trail of focused thoughts, after all. He silently noted that her handwriting seemed to accurately reflect her character to some degree, as it was neat and compact, whereas his remained organized and elegant (if he said so, himself).
He thought he caught a glimpse of something that hinted the writing to be something unrelated with her academic strive, and it stirred even more curiosity within himself. He was just about to read the first paragraph when he was cut off, because she’d gently tapped his head using the very same notebook to make him stay still instead of moving around so much. He abided to the quiet gesture while rubbing his head (it didn’t hurt, though, it was just an instinctive effect).
“It’s not something for your innocent eyes to witness,” she said, closing the item and resting it on her lap.
To this, he huffed indignantly as he melodramatically rested his hand on his chest, indicating himself, while the other remained planted on his waist. “I’m older than you, if you haven’t noticed.”
“I suppose so, yes,” she said as she tapped the end of her pencil against her lips. “All right, I’ll change my wording, then: it’s a secret.”
“Haru-chan, you always seem to have a lot of secrets,” he said with a tilt of his head before enthusiastically adding, “but you know that? I have secrets on my own, too!”
“Like?”
“Like……”
“…”
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw her mouth twitch, and he was certain that she was fighting a smile. Noticing the change of her expression also allowed his own lips to curve subtly, almost reflectively. Good, it didn’t seem like she was depressed, as serious and grave as she’d looked just a few moments ago. “Well, I should get going,” she said as she slowly rose to her feet while tucking the papers against herself. “It doesn’t seem that Tadashi-san will be here anytime soon.”
“You’re not gonna wait a little longer?”
“I have some things I want to look into,” was all she said as she glanced over her shoulder to eye him with a genuine tug of her lips. “Besides, being the villain I am-” Oh crap, had she read his thoughts? He saw the glimmer of non-serious mischief in her eyes. She’d definitely read his earlier thoughts, “I think it’d be best if I kept my distance from the twins for the time being. Running into them with an ending to a conversation like that would most likely only do worse.” For a moment, she seemed to remain still, as if she were debating about whether if she would speak or not, hesitating momentarily. Finally, he heard her say, “If he doesn’t come back soon, don’t come in too late, all right? With this temperature, you’ll catch a cold.”
And with that, he was left alone. Rubbing the back of his neck, the corner of his lips quirked once more as his thoughts briefly flickered over to her last words that surely translated into a: thank you.
Plopping himself down where she’d been, he eyed the scenery displayed in front of himself, silently admiring the view. It was a scenery he was too familiar with, so much that he was sure he could confidently announce that he’d be able to draw a picture of it without having to take a glance at it. Closing his eyes, he leaned both of his hands behind himself and rolled his head once. A part of his mind wandered back to the conversation he’d shared with Virgo, and he let his perceptive warm brown orbs rest on his home. Their home. It would certainly be nice if, one day, they could all take a trip somewhere together, free from all the duties that were being expected of them. He was worried about the rest of them, particularly Leo who, he imagined, felt a great deal of responsibility over them.
Personally, he didn’t believe that this blood of his was a curse. It was daunting, certainly, and a large responsibility to burden, but one that was, he thought, something that needed to be done. And what point was there if he despaired and grasped at the idea that this was a curse? Nothing. It would only drive him to self-pity, of self-wallowing, and once you pitied yourself, your life became an endless nightmare. At least, that was what he believed. If he could do anything about it, he would stay as far away from that path as he could even in the future, and hopefully, he’d be there for anyone who needed a little push.
Anyhow, it was a farfetched mirage for them all to simply leave freely together, but hey, a guy could dream, right?
He was so immersed in the thought and the orchestra of birds before himself that he almost didn’t realize that something felt a little off; but it was there, lingering in the air somewhere, a touch of something that felt simply as if it didn’t belong. Silently, he straightened his back once more while slowly, very slowly, he raked his hand through his own inky hair. Perhaps his mind was running wild, or perhaps he was still half-asleep.
But he didn’t think that he was imagining the size of his own shadow which stretched abnormally further than it was supposed to. Even the merry song of the larks paused, like someone had simply switched a flick off with a short movement of their index finger, and, call it bad timing, but he felt a cold breeze sweep past his cheek, caressing yet sharp as a razor's edge. Eyes widening just the slightest bit, he rose to his feet. Was this happening to anyone else who was outside? Was he still not fully awake? No, more importantly, did this mean anything? He was about to face the house again, when he picked up the sound of feet against the ground instead. Turning his head in the direction of the sound, he noticed that there wasn’t just one silhouette heading in their direction, but two. One was - his shoulders loosened a little - most definitely Tadashi, but he didn’t recognize the other one at all.
And when he glanced down at his feet, he noticed that his shadow had reverted back to the normal way it was before.
♠ / ☾ ☽ ☾/ ♠
“Kisa-chan!” When the young man dashed over to the two, he jabbed his index finger at his very tall leader with his eyebrows slightly furrowed together, though his expression possessed a rather bold and amiable smile as always.
“You’re late! Where on Earth were you?” It was a gesture and a smile that was quite familiar and familial both ways by this point for those who’d been together with Kitamura enough (and even for those who weren’t all that entirely close with him, they were most likely prone to become quickly adapted to his gestures). He hadn’t changed one bit, it seemed, from the day he’d interacted with them. “Satou-chan and Taru-chan are both in the kitchen right now.” It was then the Kitamura’s brown eyes flickered over to meet those of the seemingly young golden-haired individual, and he retracted his outstretched arm to rest it on his waist before glancing over at Tadashi. “Ah, and this is?”
“Hey, hey, this must be Ko-chan, right? Right?” The golden-haired youth tugged the hem of the Lion’s sleeve as he indicated the black-haired zodiac with a point of his finger. His large, honey-brown eyes were kind, and it accompanied his voice exceptionally well. A soft smile had stretched across his features as he watched the taller male in front of himself. “He fits your description perfectly, Tadashi.”
“Hm?” Scorpio raised an eyebrow. “Kisa-chan talked about me?”
“He did, he did.” But before Kitamura’s hopes could be raised, however, the golden-haired boy smiled very sweetly and said:
“Annoying.”
“Boisterous.”
“Loud.”
“Has slightly long black-hair with an equally irritating face.”
By this point, the Scorpion was collapsed on the floor; the weight of the words seemed to really strike him down. “Kisa-chan,” he then said as he resiliently sprung back up, whirling around to face the King of all Zodiacs. He gave a melodramatic wave of his hand, which he soon rested on his chest, as if he were standing on a stage, reciting a line as an actor instead of, well, himself (unfortunately, that was just how he was as a whole). His brown eyes twinkled, livelier than ever. “So that’s what you’ve been thinking of me this entire time?" Despite how light-hearted he was being, it was evident in his choice of words that he was being cautious; any words that tied in with their identity was left out in his flamboyant speech.

Leo "It is my duty to protect you." ◢ ♚ ╸◇╺ ♚ ◣ There were moments, like these, that unimaginable terror would course through him. Sometimes not even caused by this bone-chilling effect of the air, but rather, just that feeling of him being there, noticing the shadows at home while everyone else was messing around or training, or nearly tripping over them at school. These shadows brought his life to a living hell that he had been experiencing for what seemed like an eternity. Moments like this one seemed to always last too long.
"I offended him", Tadashi thought as he felt the temperature of the room become freezing cold, the pressure making it nearly impossible to breathe. He held his breath as he felt those shadows curl around him, going up his spine, the cold touch making him arc his back out of complete instinct. He hated the feeling of those shadows. Of course that statement would have offended him, this was Pride, the most egotistical monster to exist.
For a few seconds there, as Tadashi raised his chin, looking down at the small individual, he clenched his jaw tightly, turning his hands into fists and concentrated on why he was even here. Ignore the cold, the terror, everything else in the room. He didn't care about Greed, nor did he care about Pride. His dark eyes stared down at Shou for a few moments there, with a hardened look in his eyes. He matched that tension, despite the fear in him nearly making him tremble, it was also a bit of anger.
"Do not bring them any harm," he silently thought, biting his tongue. If he were to surely say that now, someone would most definitely be hurt, whichever one was-... the easiest of them all would be the twins or Kohaku since they were out alone. He wasn't willing to let that happen. The brothers depended on one another and Kohaku brought a pocket filled with sunshine wherever he went. He didn't want to bring them any risk of being hurt by this ruthless creature. Not yet. His hands were tied (literally at this moment) and he couldn't say much... but once they discovered their counter, what would happen then? What could he do? Nothing for them. It was their own battle to fight, just as this was his own to fight with the little devil himself in front of him.
No response came from him as this moment seemed to last longer and longer. This sickening monster in front of him was good at maintaining an adorable form, but right now, the chilling way he was acting, there was no mistake and no hiding who he was. Nearly brought him back to the first time they had met. Tadashi remembered it vividly, just as he had started living with everyone else, all the other zodiacs. A bright and sunny summer day, the shadows were especially darkened due to the bright amount of light. He had gone off on his own for some errand for the Gemini Twins, to get them more protein since they were such picky eaters and refused to eat something without seafood or some sort of animal meat.
That was when he met him. Out by the shopping market, with a few other people. This adorable little boy whom seemed much younger than he actually was, the way that his shadow was abnormally dark and there was a chilling feeling about him. There had been two instincts; to fight or run, initially. But then they met eyes, from several meters away and he could tell without words that he was not to run. Shadows moved around his ankles and legs and he had nearly shifted into Celestial form just to fight the little brat, unsure of if this was a fight for his life. Funny enough, he lived. He didn't fight. And they talked. For some reason, he had put on an appearance to be "friends" with the demon. The Lion and the Shadow, friends. How disgustingly amusing.
Still, the challenging tension in the air from when they first locked eyes, the sun becoming unbaringly a bit brighter and the shadows even more chilling and darker, it had made most people around them uncomfortable and even a few weaker souls who coughed, the tension making it hard to breathe, just like this moment here. The darkness and the light had seemed to find one another, the first of the pairs to find them, which caused an immense amount of stress. When Tadashi got home, he was abnormally tired and extremely tense and yet... he hadn't been able to sleep that night, or the next few nights.
He was doing this for his family, to protect them. He was doing this to keep them safe. He was doing this to keep an eye on the little devil himself. The tension, the pressure, the fear, the wait. His dark eyes didn't blink, they didn't move from Shou's, they just stayed there, wondering how long this was going to last or if, maybe, he pushed a little too far with such a statement. It was an idea to have him over since he was already there, but he should have specified. The message was clear, he wasn't asking for Shou to come over out of his own permission, rather, he was asking for permission to have the little demon come over physically.
Hiding from something that was already there was pointless. Besides, he wanted everyone to meet the demon himself. He was going to pay attention to everyone's reactions closely. probably even more than Shou himself, and make sure that everyone was fine with him. Because the poor soul or souls who didn't... they would be under Tadashi's watch at all times, there would always be some sort of reptile around the house to keep an eye out for him. Almost made him wish he could have dragons at his summon. What an amusing thought for a fairy tale. Despite the uncomfortable way he was held, despite the pressure and a bit of pain, he still stood silent without too much emotion crossing his face, his eyes holding a fierce protective fire within them, merged with the shadows of fear. But that was it. He didn't speak, he didn't move, he merely stared.
Just like that, the shadows, and the pressure, were gone. That look of malice and the show put on by the thing that he was pretty sure made the term "living hell" a thing, was gone and there was an adorable and cute look about him once again. Similar to Greed, Tadashi was so sure of this boy's figure showing flowers around him. He blinked a few times and then it was gone. Still as a rock, the only thing that Leo the Lion did was take in a deep breath and let out a small sigh of relief that he hadn't offended Pride's ego too badly. Even so, he was cautious with anything and everything to do with this little devil.
"Yes." Tadashi's wording was slight and simple, precise and to the point. He watched with darkened ironic amusement that such a tiny, cute body held the source of evil within it. Not wanting to turn down an offer from Pride (he did that once and it was not a fun time), he left first, glancing behind him to make sure the little monster was right there with him. There was something in him that would have liked to had a little brother like this, someone to keep around that was undeniably cute. Someone to protect and guard more than the others, not out of his bond and his duty, but out of pure spite just for him. On the outside, Shou was everything that he could want in a little brother. But he was far from what he ever desired on the inside. "The path to our house is dirty, you'll get mud on your pants. Would you like me to carry you there?"
Worded even more carefully than before so he didn't accidentally provoke Shou again. Before they left for his house, however, he bought a few sweets from the market so that Shou would have some when they got there, not trusting the others to have eaten nearly everything in the house by now. Ah... he was getting to be a bit late, wasn't he? He could say he went out to buy a few things and then met his friend on the way.
Before he knew it, he was walking back home and there was Kohaku there, quick to bond over to him. So Pride had been right; Scorpio was outside waiting for his return. He noticed that he had gotten poked in the chest but didn't really react to it at all. "Shopping." What a simple reply that could get any suspicion out of the way, though he tended to rule Kohaku out for being one that was suspicious of his activities. That seemed more like a Gemini or Pisces thing. "This is Chiba Shou," was what he stated, once again, straight to the point.
Looking down at Shou, he raised his eyebrows a little. It was hard to believe, if you didn't have your Celestial blood boiling in you telling you to attack, that this little thing, this adorable boy that was his age somehow, was Pride the Arrogant. The beginning of evil, the devil himself, the creator of all torment, pain and suffering. "Yes." Once again, a simple, straight-forward answer to Shou's question about Kohaku.
A few nervous beads of sweat appeared on him and he felt the temperature in his body drop as he shut his jaw at Shou's description of Kohaku, this not being anything like he would have wanted their first meeting to go. He wanted to immediately shut down those statements and such, but he couldn't. Shou was right here in front of his home and he couldn't be more terrified, hiding his tension and worry quite well. He watched as the dramatic man in front of him wavered around with unamused eyes like this was an everyday normal thing.
"Work on how loud you are at night." In other words, an indirect yes and no at the same time, up for interpretation. He spoke more than four words, which was pretty impressive. Of course, he tended to talk around Shou a lot more than usual. Without really thinking any of it, he could feel the wind cut past him and gave a sigh. The twins were up on the top of the house and didn't seem pleased that he brought seemingly a human with him, the cold rushing wind pretty much being unwelcoming.
And yet.
"Oh? What's this?" "Tadashi, you brought home a grade schooler." "You aren't a kidnapping perv, are you?" "Tch, and you call yourself our leader."
One glare back at them shut them up with a bit of a shocked and stunned sound from them both as they put up their hands in submission. Their nervous laugh seemed to settle him down, make him a little more relaxed for the two of them. They moved around in front of the two and both leaned on Kohaku, one for each of his shoulders.
"So you're one of Tadashi's friends, huh?" "I'm surprised he's got any friends." "He's pretty terrifying to look at." "A small child like you would normally be afraid of him." "He's really a big teddy bear, though, isn't he?" "A lion with the soul of a lamb."
Unlike normal, he didn't seem bothered by the slight hint of his zodiac, though he might have normally given them a look to cease such talk. Right now, he looked down at Shou and gave a small hum. "It's cold outside. You'll catch a cold." His dark, yet gentle gaze went up to the three in front of him. "Get him a cup of tea." The twins blinked and glanced at each other before looking back down at the small boy next to him.
"Sure thing, sir!" the Gemini twins stated at the same time and went back into the house. He blinked after them, watching. Unlike normal, they seemed curious about this person, about Shou. That slightly worried him and also made him a bit curious. He'd make sure to say pranks are completely off limits.
"Kohaku." One of the few times that Tadashi called him by his name. "Make sure the twins do not get up to trouble." At this rate, he'll speak enough for the entire week. It was a bit tiring, but nevertheless, it was his job. To protect everyone, after all, was the duty of Leo the Lion. The King of the Zodiacs. He glanced down at Shou and then back at the house. There was slight hesitation, a bit of fear in him, but he stepped forward, ready to act on a moment's notice. He had to make sure the guest was pleased, after all.

[ dude, go for it! when you have a nice new aesthetic to your profile it feels... kinda like you just took a shower after a long while of not being able to? it's ... like camping when they have no showers, essentially! and when you finally do it feels really nice and satisfying.
but do what you would like! perhaps that is just me. i'm supportive either way! ]

( i'm finally done with her cx sorry this took so much time! )
• Kikuchi Ren -- sixteen -- female -- Aquarius -- she will most likely respond to any nickname -- ×× If an animal were to be chosen to best represent Kikuchi Ren’s appearance, it would most likely be a small doe, and there’s no denying the idea given her large, sanguine toffee brown eyes that usually glow with a certain degree of calm amicability. To that end, it’s this young individual’s gentle features, pleasant smile, and natural (not to mention genuine) affinity with others that generally elicits a fairly favorable impression of her, some of the noticeable traits being that she comes off as an unassuming and level-headed young woman. And for the most part, they’re absolutely right. Standing a little below 5’3” with a small face and cropped mocha brown hair, it isn’t impossible to say that Ren may be, at times, mistaken for a young lad, especially given that she does tend to dress androgynously most of the time. Her voice is also notably at a slightly lower octave than most females, thus making it further possible for others to think of her as the opposite gender. Upon second glance, it’s noticeable that she possesses characteristics such as long, dark lashes, small, slender hands, and a petite frame. This heavily suggests that she hasn’t been built for strength, as her thin legs indicate a speedy runner rather than a physical powerhouse. Now, when she’s alone by herself, however, or just woken up from a period of rest, she’ll look drastically different from her usual appearance; maybe it’s the drowsiness that gets to her in the mornings, but her hair, which usually remains groomed, will look disheveled as if she’s walked through a storm and messily fall over her eyes. It’s also more than likely you’ll run into her with her large, black-rimmed glasses when she’s reading something, though for the most part, she seems to be able to last through the day without them perched on her button-like nose. While she is academically smart and driven, quietly studying in her room for most of the time, she’s a part of the music club. Her specialty aside from studying is playing the piano; it is in this that she can be seen as extreme as she gives her tasks or objectives everything she’s got, accomplishing it until it's thoroughly done. ×× ×× Accepting, consistent, and hardworking. What else is there to say about this young individual? Ren’s strongest characteristics may be her calm nature, mature outlook on life, and responsible attitude; she’s straightforward, yes, sometimes a little too straightforward to the point of being very blunt at times (they’re usually never said with any bad intention), but she’s trustworthy, tolerant, and brave. While she isn’t a crusader who will dive into everything and anything, her courage and overall personality make it so that she isn’t afraid to speak out against those who are even in the position of power, and she’s more than willing to utilize her bravery for the benefit or safety of others, though this has and may still result in consequences regarding her own wellbeing. Level-headed, she's capable of making practical decisions during difficult situations, though, of course, there are exceptions. Stoic and individualistic, Ren’s lips remained sealed like a zipper when it comes to a) regarding secrets and b) complaints. A whine or word of complaint isn’t an option for her, and she’ll take an unfortunate circumstance with as much stride as possible. However, it is also this strength of hers - her individuality which was crafted at a very young age - that also serves as her weakness, as she does not turn to others for help even when it is direly necessary; this has lead her into dangerous situations before, and it certainly won’t be the last, much to the horror of those around herself. It has also made her, believe it or not, a rather solitary individual when she is separated from the people she feels comfortable with, as she resorts to figuring things out by herself and herself only rather than depending or relying on someone else for aid. While she genuinely strives to be considerate of others and has a natural affinity with them for most of the time, she is more reserved than outgoing, more quiet than loud, and more introverted than extroverted. These may seem like good attributes to her overall character at first glance, but it’s this sweet demeanor that usually makes it easy for her goodwill to be taken advantage of or manipulated, and with her subconsciously lone personality and habit, you’d never know that she was unless she explicitly states it. This causes Ren to deal with the struggle of bottling things up and finding ways to relieve them to the best of her capability. It’s also worth noting that she may come off as an apathetic individual at times, especially when it comes to making decisions. All in all, Ren is, by no means, easily swayed or charmed, though she is an appreciative individual and is not very picky regarding many things; she's a bit of an oddball, all things considered. She’s someone who's easily forgiving and definitely an individual who is willing to see people for who they are beyond the boundaries of status, gender, and occupation. ×× •• crush •• family •• she’s afraid of absolute darkness and this may be why she has a difficult time restfully falling asleep •• -- { @.alastair }

♠ / ☾ ☽ ☾/ ♠
How amusing.
How truly and undeniably, amusing this all was.
They were enemies, the leaders of two separate whole entities that represented the ultimate opposites of one another, and yet here the Lion was with his knee metaphorically bent with his head bowed. He couldn’t even raise a single claw in response or complaint; not with the strength he currently possessed, not with the many weaklings it’d taken control over.
He could already feel the corners of his lips tug softly with a streak of twisted amusement gyrating in his abdomen. How so very delightfully entertaining.
He could see it in Tadashi’s hardened eyes; the way how adamant he was about protecting this little makeshift “family.” Though he kept his face as a blank slate, pretty and calm and sweet just like that of a porcelain doll, he was certain that he was feeling the urge to raise an eyebrow or furrow them together. He didn’t understand the Lion’s determination and devotion to these particular group of individuals. Why risk so much and humiliate yourself for the individuals who would either succumb to darkness or die? Why was the Lion going as far as to risk his own life for that of those who would surely wither away without his presence in the first place? The creatures, all twelve of them, were in the mercy of a cycle they had been born to unaware of, a curse that would eventually plague them and their minds.
And they were in his mercy, as well.
There was no denying the rush of power that pulsed through his veins when he saw their vulnerable forms flicker past his gaze; Gemini, Scorpio, Virgo, Pisces, Capricorn, Sagittarius, Aquarius, and even Leo, who he admitted to prizing just the slightest bit above the rest, as he had not yet directly interacted with them and they had not yet offered him something entertaining enough for him to consider their value. They were oblivious even now, living in their own world, isolated yet connected, different, and yet the same. Their very lives were juxtapositions.
A strange, indescribable sensation followed afterwards. It was a spark - a small, dim, and dull thing that lit in his chest, but he could not quite touch upon what the feeling necessarily was. Ah, yes, perhaps this was what they referred to as curiosity for the Lion’s steadfast loyalty and determination.
I wonder just how many of them would be willing to do the same for you, little cub.
As they walked in the direction of the Celestial House, he could hear and see quite a few things; from their own shadows, he could see a small family of birds chirping mellowly as they delicately danced around their nest, as if they had not yet decided how to sit down. He could hear the rustle of plastic from the small bag Tadashi had bought, filled with candy from the market (which had made him wrinkle his nose a little from the sheer human current that passed to and fro like a chicken without its head). Though, had he been normal, he wouldn’t have been able to see Tadashi’s current expression from the position he was being held, he saw straight into the concentrated, wary, and sharp eyes of the tall zodiac.
So he was being careful, was he? It made sense, he supposed, but he still found the idea egregiously ridiculous. Besides, if he had wanted to kill them, he would have already done so when they were all asleep, vulnerable and completely open to any ambush.
There were still too many little entertainments that were necessary for them to be discarded all at once. Yes, he’d do it little by little, bit by bit, like a child slowly plucking off the feathers of a bird. Each and every taken feather would surely increase the rawness of despair.
“Work on how loud you are at night.”
“But I’m extremely quiet,” he watched as Scorpio protested with the same liveliness to his eyes and voice (for the record, he wasn’t, especially when someone was there to entertain him). He was too familiar with the individual and his mannerisms; the way he spoke and the way he gestured at those he felt comfortable with. Leaning his weight on his right foot with his hands innocently clasped behind his back, his head slightly tilted, and his lips taking on a soft smile, he let his eyes silently trail over to the animated face of the black-haired zodiac who said, “It’s Katashi and Satoshi who-”
“Oh? What’s this?” “Tadashi, you brought home a grade schooler.”
A grade schooler?
Eyeing the twins who leaned against Scorpio, he stood on his tip-toes with a pout stretching across his face. “I’m not a grade schooler,” he said as he shook his head, causing thick locks of his golden hair to bounce around a bit. He was familiar with these two, as well. At least, he was used to seeing their faces; it was a like simply watching a picture in his head move in front of his eyes.
Grabbing onto the hem of the Lion’s shirt, he glanced up at the tall individual’s face before letting his attention return back to the twins. “Tadashi’s nice,” he stated with childish assurance and naivety before smiling sunnily. Hadn’t Greed once told him that there were flowers around his head when he made this expression? “Mhm! He’s a big teddy bear. He’s an important friend, you know.”
When they finally disappeared back into the house after receiving a swift command from their leader, his attention slowly and leisurely turned to ‘Kohaku,’ who seemed to have perked up at the sound of his name.
“I’m surprised, Kisa-chan, it isn’t often you call me by my name.” He watched as the young man’s sharp yet warm and curious brown eyes moved to meet those of his own. A small smile had taken ahold of the zodiac’s lips, he noticed, as he said, “he must really be an important guest, then, hm? You can count on me; I’ll make sure that Ren keeps an eye on them, too.” Flicking a stray strand of his inky hair away from his face and smoothening out any ruffles that could be there he stretched his arms, he soon glanced over his shoulder, over at Tadashi.
“Ah, right, I almost forgot; is there anything you need, Kisa-chan? You should get some rest with him. After all, it isn’t easy bringing back a friend from the morning, is it?”
But instead of waiting for a reply, he’d already swiveled around with a small wave. “Let me know if you need anything, Kisa-chan, Chiba-kun.”
Watching the three figures disappear, he smiled sweetly.
It seemed like he had a few animals to keep his eyes on in this house.
