"Drinking hot chocolate," Ash replied and sipped her hot chocolate in reference. "I just got done hanging out with Chase and was on my way home, but..." she shrugged. "I'm not sure I'm ready to head home."

"I already know I'm Mia's best friend and always will be. First of all, I don't have much competition. Second of all, we share one car and I keep the keys on me, so she knows I'm her ride," Sophia said, her eyes flashing towards he girl across the table from her.
Mia rolled her eyes. "And so humble about it too."
"Anyway," Sophia said, glancing between the two boys. "Do you guys know what you want? I say all four of us get an appetizer to share. I haven't eaten much today," she said, opening a menu and reading it from top to bottom.
"I have an idea!" Mia said. "Since we're probably gonna drag you guys along on every date we go on, why don't all four of us get to know each other by talking. Jace? Do you want to go first? What do you like? What are you good at? What are your hopes and dreams?" she asked, looking over towards him.
She couldn't tell if she was amazing or terrible at this whole matchmaking thing.
"Why don't your start? Or Mason? I mean, you two are the ones on a date," Sophia pointed out.
Mia shook her head. "Nah. Mason and I know a little about each other," she said. It was practically a lie. She couldn't tell you much about Mason. "You and Jace know like what? Anything?"
"Well, we chatted at the party," Sophia said.
"About?" Mia asked.
Sophia frowned, unsure what they had talked about. She shrugged. "Sure. I guess. Why don't we order first? Then Jace can tell us about himself."

Jace was in a world of pain at the moment. Throughout Mia and Sophia's conversation, he had sat in complete silence, mouth slightly agape and trying to come up with some kind reply, but completely unable to.
He kicked Mason under the table and Mason grunted, but otherwise didn't reply. He did, however, shoot Jace a mean look before smiling pleasantly at the girls.
"Well, the gentlemanly thing to do would be to let you two pick out the appetizer, isn't that right, Jace?" Mason asked, all smiles and politeness.
"You have no idea what to pick, do you?"
"Not a clue. I don't even know what half of these things mean." Mason's eating out experiences ended with Subway being the fanciest place he had gone.
Jace rolled his eyes, but since he was already being picked on to speak about himself, he figured why not put Mia on the spot?
"Mia, what do you recommend?" Jace asked with a smile.

"It is," Arlo agreed with a quiet voice. He didn't want anyone to hear them, but he definitely agreed with her. The waiter returned and Arlo pointed at the menu item he wanted and the Waiter turned to Keilana. (So this is super short so I could just finish up that idea but do you want to skip to the proposal so they can stop being awkward and uncomfortable? And it would also be great if you could do the restaurants workers)He {Oh yeah we can skip! And I'll try to RP the workers. Hopefully I'll be online more tomorrow...}

Mia watched Jace and Mason's silent interaction, only looking. Towards Sophia when Mason spoke. She then looked at Jace.
"I'd recommend the cheese curds. They come with a great buffalo ranch sauce. If either of you have something against cheese like my weirdo brother, then I'd go with the mini tacos. They have a little bit of bite but a lot of flavor," she said, not at all disturbed by him putting her on the spot.
"I agree with that. Especially the part about Jack being weird," Sophia said. She turned and gave Jace a big smile. "But it also depends on if you or Mason have an opinion. We don't want to force you guys to choke down something you don't want to eat."
"That's a good point. I, however, can't wait to see what Jace has to say about himself," she said, flashing a cheeky smile in the direction of the other boy. For a minute she forgot she was supposed to be setting up Jace and Sophia and was just having a good time with the other three people at the table.
Then she shook her head. "Or we could get two appetizers. Jace and Sophia could share one and Mason and I could share the other," she said. Sharing food would be good for Jace and Sophia. Right?
"Either way we better decide because there's a waiter heading in our direction," Sophia said, nodding towards the man walking towards them with a notepad in his hand.

"Is there trouble at home?" Luke asked putting his phone away. He wondered if something was wrong or if this was just a feeling. There were a few times where he didn't want to go home.

"I don't want to make a choice." Jace grumbled, dumping it all on Mason.
Mason rolled his eyes and then smiled at the waitress as she walked over. "Hello, we'd like the cheese curds. Thank you very much." He said, looking her up and down for a moment before a kick from Jace in the leg reminded him that he was supposed to be on a date with Mia.
The waitress had noticed Mason looking and smiled back at him. "Good choice," she winked and then walked away to put in their appetizer order.
"Alright, now that that is all settled... let's get back to Jace!" He was excited to throw Jace under the bus, so to speak, and make the poor, awkward boy talk about himself. Mason smiled at him. "Go ahead, Jace. I believe Mia thought you should talk about your skills, hobbies, dreams, and career goals? Anything else that you would like him to add in, Mia?" Oh, this was way too much fun.
"There isn't even anything else to add." Jace grumbled. He pulled nervously at the edge of his beanie, readjusting it on his head like he did when he was nervous. It was one of the biggest reasons why he refused to ever part it. "Well I, uh, I play the guitar... and the piano, drums, a little bit of the violin and harp... and I can play a little bit of the clarinet, trombone..." he stopped, realizing that this was just getting sad, so he cleared his throat. "I'm best at the guitar, though."
"That's true. He can play anything you ask." Mason piped up, trying to talk Jace up in a nonchalant way.
Jace rolled his eyes and ignored Mason's comment. "My whole life is just... music. I would love to have a recording studio so that I can help young people like me make something of themselves. And... that's it." He smiled awkwardly since that was it.
"Great!" Mason said cheerfully.

((Hello, Aurora! =3)) "Okay, do not mess with Kris or Jordan." Drake looked at both of the girls, making a mental note to always try to be on their good side. The last thing they needed was their apartment being broken into by some crazy cousins, bent on revenge because Drake had gone and done whatever it was that this other dude had done. "Alright, I see. I get it." He nodded his head in complete understanding. "Guys have the exact same kind of scale for women, based on several very important factors." Alright, so maybe Drake was a being a little bit over dramatic. Sure, Mason had taught Drake about The Scale, but it really didn't have a lot of important factors. "Why actually yes, I do. Sunglasses will show you just how cool I can be. Even if they are pink or have unicorns on them." Drake had pulled off both in his lifetime, because why the heck not? He stood up, laughing at Jordan's eagerness... and the fact that he was the same way. "Alright, let's go!" (XD It's all good. I thought it was your turn on the Jordan/Kris/Drake thing but it's not XD) "Well, that's great, honey. I just wanted to make sure you were happy," Arlo said, a grin on his face. It looked like he was in love, right? He made conversation, called her a weird name, and was making plenty of eye contact as if he were lost in her eyes. "Mine's been good. A bit busy, but I wanted to get everything out of the way so I could just relax and have dinner with the woman I love," he said, fiddling with his napkin. This place was way too fancy for him to be comfortable. He'd also spent his day watching many proposal videos. "That sounds about right," he said, barely noticeable. It seemed like the best time. "Make I take your order?" a well dressed waiter asked, approaching the table. Arlo glanced at Keilana, answering for both of them. "We'll take this appetizer," he said, pointing at he picture. It was some long French name he couldn't pronounce, but the description sounded good. "And then we need more time to decide on the entree." "Of course, sir," the waiter said, writing down their appetizer and walking away. "Sorry I ordered the appetizer without asking you. I just figured it'd look like we knew what we were doing," he said with a shrug. "Anyway, we should probably pick out our meals. Go for something not super expensive in case we don't get r free," he said, his voice quiet st the end so Keilana was the only one that could hear him.

(Heh. Didn't realize you'd replied)
Mia frowned. "If you keep looking at girls like that, I'm not going on any more dates with you," she said, pinching Mason's arm lightly. It wasn't enough to hurt him, just enough to remind him that they were supposed to be on a date. In reality, they weren't, but Mason could still play the part of being on a date. Sophia would realize if he kept messing up like that.
Sophia had noticed Mason's eyes wandering a bit and she frowned as well. Only their first date and he was already checking out other girls? Maybe Jace was right and this would end badly for Mia. Mason would use her and drop her just like he had with plenty of other girls. The bought made her clench her fists under the table, but then she relaxed. Nothing bad would happen to Mia while her and Jace were there and she could always talk to Mia after. Maybe Jace would even help her out. After all, he knew Mason better than Mia and Sophia did.
Mia forgot about Mason's wandering eyes when he mentioned getting Jace to talk. "Ooooh, I'm excited to learn more about Jace. Maybe your social life too? Who's your best friend? Do you have a girlfriend? What do you look for in a friend or girlfriend?" Was she being too obvious? "Do you want to go to college? What's your favorite sport?" she asked, throwing in those last questions to make her first ones seem less suspicious.
Sophia and Mia both leaned in when Jace talked. "That sounds fun, Jace. Plus, the whole music thing is really cool. Sophia and I are hopeless when it comes to music so anyone that can successfully do music is pretty impressive. Aren't they, Sophia?"
"Yeah, I guess. I mean, as long as they aren't jerks," she said. She'd met a few jerk musicians before. Then her eyes widened. "Sorry, Jace. I didn't mean to imply you were a jerk or anything. You're a great guy."
"Yeah, and helping kids is cool too. See, he's a great guy," Mia said, nudging Sophia from across the table.
"Anyway, I suppose it's my turn since you two don't seem very up for talking," Sophia said. She didn't want to see Jace suffer through the other questions Mia had listed. "Jace can answer your other questions later if he wants."
"But-"
"Later, Mia." Sophia said. She sighed. "Well, where should I start? I don't know what I want to do. I'd hoped to get into modeling or acting, but I just don't think that kind of life is for me," Sophia said. "I really want to travel. And I'm really interested in languages. I don't have a career picked out yet, but I hope to take a gap year and do some volunteer work in other countries. Or just travel and learn more about culture and languages. After that I'll probably head off to college and get a degree to work in physical therapy or psychology. Or maybe as a teacher. Something where i can help people."
She thought for a little longer. "I like reading. I know, I look like the vain, blonde cheerleader stereotype, but I actually have a Brian in this head," she said, laughing a bit. People usually did judge her wrong at the beginning. She had the look of a stereotypical high school mean girl and her flirty, partyish attitude didn't help the image. She was more than her looks.

"Ow!" Mason yelped and rubbed his arm. It had actually kind of hurt, but Mia was right... he would have to come back later for that waitress's number. Pretending to be in a relationship was almost worse than being in a relationship, although how would Mason know the difference? He had never really been in a relationship, other than with Adriane and Ellison, and he had loved every moment of both.
He needed to be done with relationships.
Jace, on the other hand, was positively annoyed by Mason's behavior, although he wasn't at all surprised. Part of him wanted to tell Sophia "Ha! Told you so!" but it wasn't appropriate at this moment. He didn't have long to think about it before Mia started bombarding him with more questions. He's eyes widened and he opened his mouth, but no words came out. Oh, Mason was going to pay for making him go on this date.
He did manage to answer the first round of questions and was starting to get confused by why Mia seemed so interested in his interests. Oh no... what if she had only lied about going on a date with Mason, and was using Mason so that she could get closer to him? Jace thought about it for a moment, and hoped it wasn't true. He'd have to let Mia down gently. She wasn't his type.
"Uh, thanks. Yeah I try to be as not jerky as I can." Jace managed to say with an awkward laugh and looked at Mason with a "I'm going to kill you later" expression, to which Mason just shrugged.
"Well, you're pretty enough to be a model or an actor." Jace commented, and then turned bright red. Was that inappropriate to say to a friend? Of course it was! Now this whole double date thing was just awkward in a hundred different ways and Jace wanted to crawl under the table. "A-Anyway, helping people is a g-good idea..." He was trying to take the heat off his other comment, and was just burning in flames.
Mason wanted to sigh heavily and slam his head into a table, but that would have looked really weird to everyone else, but Jace was absolutely pitiful. How could someone be this horrible at flirting? "A gap year is a great idea," Mason piped up, hoping that maybe Jace's stuttering and weird comments would be brushed under the table. "What kind of books do you most prefer? Do you have a favorite author? I'm personally a fan of Edgar Allen Poe, although if I had to choose from old literature and short stories, I would say The Yellow Wallpaper would be my favorite. Absolutely wonderful piece of writing." Yeah, Mason knew a bit about literature.
Jace was thankful for the rescue, and sighed in relief.
"Anyway, Mia, do you want to talk about yourself next?" Mason asked.

(Mia: Not your type? I'm so much more like you than Sophia is..)
(Also I had to make Sophia complicate everything more just cause.)
Mia rolled her eyes at Mason. Man, actually dating him would really suck if he couldn't even keep his eyes off of other girls for one night for a fake date. Of course, that didn't mean he couldn't do it. Maybe he was more likely to stop that if he was actually in a relationship and liked the girl he was dating. Now Mia could see why he wasn't in any relationships that she knew of. As much as she hated it, she still wanted to get to know him. Not necessarily dating, but friends at the very least.
Sophia coughed to cover up the awkward moment and her meaningful glance towards Mia. This kid was bad news. Maybe Jace was right and she should keep Mia away from Mason. Of course, that would turn her into Jack and Mia would probably rebel against the two of them and find herself more drawn to Mason. This was about the time teenagers rebelled, right? Sophia didn't have a huge rebellious streak, but she often found herself pushing the boundaries more than Mia did.
Sophia turned a bit pink at Jace's comment. She'd been called pretty before, but it was normally guys like Mason, who she quickly shut down and never talked to again. She didn't see many, if any, similarities between Mason and Jace. And Jace definitely seemed to be the better guy. She glanced at Mia. What if...?
If she could switch Mia's attention from Mason to Jace, everything would work out better and Sophia could still be good friends with him. Then Mason would be out of the picture and she saw Jace as the kind of guy to be careful with a girl's feelings if things weren't working out. Mason probably had that method where the girl walks away with a broken heart. That's not what she wanted for Mia's first relationship.
"Thanks," she said anyway, not want to leave the poor boy hanging when he was clearly so uncomfortable. "But, like I said, I don't think the lifestyle is for me. Plus, I'm sure it'd get boring after a while," she said with a shrug. An actress would be a lot more fun, but there was the whole lifestyle thing again and Sophia simply wasn't amazing. She was good, but not great. And they wanted great people in hit tv shows and blockbuster movies.
Sophia was about to reply to the gap year comment, but his next words surprised her even more. "Wow, Mason. You didn't seem like the type to be into literature," she said. "I mean, I didn't think you weren't smart or anything. It's just uncommon to see a teenager with an interest in literature, let alone enough knowledge to discuss authors and books. I can barely get through those kinds of stories without falling asleep, but Mia's interested in those."
"I'm actually not. I said I enjoyed a few books we read. Not all of them," Mia said. She shook her head.
"But, sure, I'll go next. I plan to go off to college after graduating and move into the medical field. I'm currently deciding between being a surgeon, an ER doc, or a vet. I also ride horses, write, and read," she said, glancing between Jace and Sophia.
"Alright. Your turn?" Sophia asked, turning to Mason. She already knew all of that about Mia, but it didn't occur to her that Jace and Mason knew practically nothing about her cousin.
