((Alright, Ariat!
Ok, Hawk!))
Ash, having said goodbye to Chase for the evening, had chosen to walk home instead of getting dropped off. She didn't leave too far from the beach, which was right about where they had been, and she liked the idea of fresh air and... everything.
She was also feeling a little tired still from the night before and lack of sleep, so she decided to stop for a coffee. However, Ash being Ash, she didn't like coffee and just considered hot chocolate to be the same thing.
Ash walked into a little coffee shop, just a few blocks from the beach, and waited in line into it was her turn, in which case she ordered her hot chocolate and then stepped aside to wait for it to be ready.
((I hope this works! >.<))

"Hey, Sophia, can you help me with something?" Mia asked, pushing open the door to the room the girls shared. The older girl set her book down and sat up.
"What's up?" she asked, scooting over and patting the spot next to her. Mia sat down, leaning against the headboard like she used to do when they were kids. Sometimes Sophia actually was good for advice.
"Well, you remember Mason? From the party? The guy that dropped out of school?" Mia asked. She looked down at her feet, pretending to be nervous about what she was asking Sophia.
"Yeah, I do. Why?" Sophia asked. The party was still very clear in her mind, along with the time she spent at the beach with Jace when they left.
"Well, he, um, kind of asked me on a date. I got nervous and asked about doing a double date, so he said he'd bring Jace along for you," Mia said. She looked up at Sophia.
Jace? He was the last person Sophia expected to tag along with Mason on a date, but she figured the other boy would just drag Jace along without giving him a say in the matter.
"Jace and I on a date?" Sophia asked, almost laughing a bit. He wasn't the type of guy she normally went for, but there was something cute about his awkwardness, something charming about him. "Alright, we need to change."
After some time later, Mia had given in and let Sophia do her makeup and borrow clothes again. She felt out of place, but she'd do what she had to to get Sophia to the restaurant.
The two girls snuck out and arrived at the restaurant that Mason had picked out.
"See them anywhere?" Mia asked. She leaned against the car, realizing they were both overdressed and overmakeuped (though she knew that wasn't a word) for a place like this. Whatever. She'd do it if it made Sophia happy. Plus, it would be easier to get through the night if Mason actually enjoyed looking at what Sophia had put together. He said he'd liked it at the party, didn't he?

((It's fine, Aurora. XD))
"No."
"Jace, just--"
"NO."
"Jace, don't you dare--"
"NO. NO. NO."
Mason grabbed his friend by the shoulders and started shaking him, hoping to shake some sense into the guy. "Look! You are coming with. Drake is off hanging out with friends, so I need you as my backup, dude. Mia is uncomfortable going on a date alone with me, so you are coming."
"Why?!" Jace whined and shrugged Mason's hands from his shoulders. He had managed to lock Mason out briefly when Mason had made the mistake of telling Jace about his plans before Jace had let him in the house, but then Mason had turned around and broken in through a window. Well, he hadn't actually broken anything, but he had entered illegally. "I don't want to be your wingman to... to... distract the other girl so you can go do not nice things with Mia! I know what you do on the first date, Mason."
"I'm not doing that with Mia. I couldn't do any of that with Mia if I wanted to." Mason paused, wondering if Jace would be able to call his bluff, but when Jace was still silent, Mason continued, figuring he was safe. "Look, Mia's different! I really want to get to know her. I think we could have something special."
"That's what you said about Mackenzie!"
"Well, I was wro--"
"And Lucy, and Delilah, and Jas--"
"Alright, alright, alright. I've said that about a lot of girls, but I'm serious this time. I really want to try and have a relationship with Mia. And my only option for that to work... is you. Please, man." Mason tried to puppy dog Jace, but he was horrible at it. Drake was the one who could successfully puppy dog anyone. "I haven't felt this way about anyone since Adriane."
"I thought you were going to make up with Adriane?"
"I decided she wasn't good for me." Which was a lie, but Jace didn't need to know that. On the contrary, Mason had decided he wasn't good for her.
"... Fine... I'll go..." Jace finally grumbled.
"Great!" Mason perked up and started shoving his friend towards Jace's bedroom. "Let's get you all classed up."
In a few minutes, Mason was still dressed in what he had had on earlier, along with his tie situated back on. Jace had cleaned up nicely and was dressed up similar to Mason -- jeans, his Vans because that seems like a Jace-y type of shoe, and a nice white button down shirt, with a little yellow bowtie to go with his yellow beanie, which he refused to take off his head, no matter how much him and Mason argued about it.
Shortly after that, they had arrived at the restaurant and Mason was leading Jace up to Sophia and Mia, who were leaned against their car. "Hello!" Mason greeted while Jace trailed awkwardly after him.

"Mason! Hi!" Mia called when she saw the two. She stood up straight and walked to meet the boys halfway.
Sophia stayed by her side, glancing at Mason and then looking at Jace. "You look good," she commented, not even greeting Mason. It wasn't that she had anything against him, though he didn't sound like the best guy from what Jace had said at the party, but it was that she didn't know him very well.
"Well, this is going to be a fun night. Thanks for coming, guys. Jace, it means a lot to me that you came," she said. She smiled at Mason. "That was a smart idea of yours," she said. The idea of her being uncomfortable alone on a date with Mason seemed to match Mia's personality, so Sophia hadn't had a clue that it was all a lie. A lie to get her and Jace on an actual date together.
"So, are we heading in? We want to get a table before it's too busy," Sophia pointed out. She didn't even wait for an answer before gesturing for Jace to come walk beside her. "Stick with me so those two can talk," she whispered, leaning close to him as she passed by.
Mia heard Sophia's words and rolled her eyes a bit. "You lol great in that tie," Mia said to Mason. It was a real compliment, bit just a show put on for this little 'date' of theirs.
When there was enough space between the pairs that they could talk quietly without being heard, Sophia leaned in close to Jace again. "So, Mia and Mason. What do you think about them?" she asked, wanting his opinion on it. She knew Mia. The girl was practically her sister. Jace knew Mason. With their combined knowledge they could figure out whether or not it was a pair worth pursuing.
At the same time, Mia leaned in close to Mason. "What do you think? Is there anything else we can do or just find an excuse to disappear in the middle of the meal?" she asked. Mia was never a matchmaker, but she liked the idea of Sophia and Jace. Plus that would stop Sophia from ending up with a bad influence. See, Mia figured she would be responsible and smart enough if she dated a guy like Mason, but she wasn't sure if Sophia was. Being with Jace would keep her from guys like Mason.
"And she's right. We should probably head inside," Mia added

Arlo felt weird with those whole acting lovey dovey and showering a girl with compliments thing. With the few girlfriends he'd had, they'd all been pretty casual relationships that didn't last more than a few months. He was just trying to play the part of Ryan Miller, a man about to propose to the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. "I know this place is a little, ah, unusual for us, but I know you've been having a tough time at work lately and thought you deserved something special," he said, finally decided on a meal that appeared to be some kind of pasta. Pasta was always a safe choice. "Have you decided yet?" he asked, setting his menu down and glancing at hers. He pointed to the meal he'd planned on ordering. "That's what I want to get. I believe it's similar to a recipe of my uncle's," he said. He sat back down in his seat and sipped his glass of water. None of the other patrons seemed to pay any attention to them. Arlo smiled and thanked the waiter when he arrived with their appetizer. Arlo took a bit of the food, surprised at the large crunch emitted from his mouth. It didn't taste bad. He sent the waiter away one last time so he'd have time to answer any questions Keilana might have and let her decide what she wanted. While that was happening, Arlo grabbed another bite of the appetizer he'd ordered. This place wasn't actually bad, though the stuffy, fancy pants environment was a little much for him. Maybe he could take himself, Chase, and Ellie here for the boys' 18th birthday. "Aw that's sweet. Thank you, hun." Keilana smiled. She felt like she was going to get a cavity from how sweet they were acting. Honestly, was this actually how couples acted? Well, she amended, she had definitely seen some pretty cheesy things. A few friends of hers had been dating and they were so loving with each other than Keilana had felt like she needed to give them a room. It had been pretty sickening, and she didn't want to be like them. "Oh, yeah, I think I have an idea..." she said, showing him the menu to point at something that looked good. She hadn't the slightest idea how to pronounce it, but the description looked pretty good. And it was on the cheaper side. "Oh, that looks good too." Keilana smiled at the waiter as he brought the appetizer. She took a bite of it and hummed pleasantly. "This is good," she commented. She wasn't surprised, considering this was a pretty fancy place. She thought it was a bit of an overkill trying something like this here, but at least the chances of meeting someone they knew were pretty low. And she got a good meal out of it, if they pulled this out. "This is incredibly uncomfortable, isn't it?" she said quietly in case they were heard. She could tell that this wasn't his scene. It wasn't hers either. She liked being casual and not feeling like she was being judged for not fitting the mold. She always acted, but it was easier to be loud than to be proper.

"It is," Arlo agreed with a quiet voice. He didn't want anyone to hear them, but he definitely agreed with her.
The waiter returned and Arlo pointed at the menu item he wanted and the Waiter turned to Keilana.
(So this is super short so I could just finish up that idea but do you want to skip to the proposal so they can stop being awkward and uncomfortable? And it would also be great if you could do the restaurants workers)He

Luke was leaning against a light post and watches the waves. He was thinking about having a beach party one of these days. If anything, he preferred beach parties to house parties. Luke glances down to look at his phone and answers a text from one of his friends.

Here was the hard part for Mason: trying to act like he had a thing for Mia. If he stepped even a little bit out of line, Jace would catch on in a heartbeat and know something was up. So he smiled and waved at the two. "Mia, hello," he said and glanced over at Sophia. "Thanks for coming, Sophia."
Jace was a little taken aback by Sophia. Although he had seen her prettied up the night before, this time, he actually really noticed it. "Oh, uh, thanks... y-you look really good, too..." he was blushing a little bit as he spoke, hoping it wasn't noticeable, although it obviously was. He didn't even notice Mia and thus, didn't respond to her.
"Well, anything to get you to go out with me." Mason replied. That was something he would say and by the way Jace wasn't looking at him suspiciously, he suspected that it was working. All of this really had been a good idea and since Mason had made Drake go on many double dates with him (to distract the other woman), it was even more believable, at least in Jace's eyes. And Sophia seemed fooled, too.
Jace nodded his head, glancing back over his shoulder at Mason and Mia before looking forward once again. "Good idea, I think." He was a little worried about leaving Mia alone with Mason, but she must've known what she was getting into when she agreed to go on a date with Mason.
"Thank you. This was the tie I was supposed to wear when I graduated." Mason laughed. It was a joke, he didn't have a specific tie for graduation, but that was the joy of it.
"I think Mason's lying about something." Jace replied bluntly. He had known Mason long enough to be certain of this. "He never goes on a date with a girl because he 'thinks she's something special.' Not in all my many years of knowing him. After Adriane, it's been all about... uh..." he cleared his throat awkwardly, not really wanting to say, but figuring Sophia already knew. "All he does is hook up and leave." He liked Mia and didn't want her to also fall to Mason's apparent charm.
Mason shrugged. "Probably just disappear partway through the meal and hope for the best. With Jace's awkwardness, he's probably going to break something, but at least we got him on a date." Jace was a lost cause. Both Mason and Drake had sat him down and tried to school him in dating, and it had always been a failure. Every test or pop quiz they had, Jace had ultimately failed... the boys spent a lot of time together doing some pretty weird things.
Mason nodded his head in agreement.

Sophia led the Jace inside to get them a table, but continued on her conversation, taking in everything he'd said.
"Look, I'm not sure how I feel about Mia and Mason, but she's at least going out with a guy, so I'm happy. Plus, she's smart. Smarter than me. I'll keep an eye on her, but I believe in Mia," she said. She got a table for the four and followed the guy.
The man seated them in a booth and Sophia slid into the booth, opening up her menu.
Mia nodded. "But Jace's bow tie is cuter," she teased, nudging Mason with her shoulder.
Seeing that Mason and Mia hadn't joined them yet, Sophia continued talking to Jace.
"What do you mean lying? Maybe he's changing his ways? I mean, Mia's never had a boyfriend, but I like to think she's something special. A little better than me," Sophia said with a small laugh. She wasn't a bad person at all. She was actually a pretty good person, a toned down, more carefree version of Mia. She just admired her cousin's dedication to her school and the confidence in herself that she believed Mia had.
Jace's words made Sophia a bit nervous and she felt like she was just grabbing for anything, but she shook her head. Until there was an actual sign that Mia might be being sucked into Mason's normal routine that Jace had explained, she'd trust her cousin. That's what she was supposed to, right? Even though she was here to keep an eye on Mia.
She still didn't think there'd be a problem. Jack and Mia were probably the most responsible of the many cousins in their family.
Mia stayed back near the entrance, thinking she should share a few more words with Mason before joining them. It'd make it look more real, right? "Eh, I'm sure Jace won't be too bad. Even if he is, Sophia was telling me this morning that she thought it was cute. You know, that he was shy and awkward and all that stuff. He's different than, like, the jocks she usually dates. Well, there was that one cute shy artist guy she dated, but he moved away," Mia said.
"Sorry, that's probably more than you needed to know about Sophia's love life," she said, apologizing.
Then she shook her head. "I just thought maybe we should talk for a minute or two. Give Jace and Sophia some time to relax together. Make it look more like we're actually here for each other. Then we can join them and get food and stuff. Food is actually a really good idea," she said, her stomach grumbling at the thought.

Jace laughed and shook his head. "Look, I agree that Mia's smart, but if she's also never be in a relationship... Mason's going to take advantage of that." He stopped talking as the waiter took them to their table, where he sat down next to Sophia. He thanked the waiter before finishing his thought. "You obviously don't know Mason. He never dates a girl for innocent reasons." He looked over to see where Mason and Mia were, but they seemed to be enjoying speaking in private. Well, Mia didn't seem all that nervous about sticking with Mason.
Mason sighed and shook his head. "Really? Yellow bowtie? I tried as hard as I could to get him to part with that beanie, but he absolutely refused, so yellow was the best that I could do." He wasn't a fan of the color yellow but looking at Jace... it was obvious that it was his favorite color. Yellow beanie, yellow bowtie, and even his shoes were a darker yellow color. Of course, he pulled it off.
"That guy does not change his ways." Jace explained as he started flipping through the menu. "After Adriane, did you know his only other girlfriend was this girl named Ellison. She was dating Drake, and then Mason swooped in and stole her. See? He can't even get girls the old fashioned way." Of course, Jace had absolutely loved Ellison -- she had been amazing, and perfect for Mason in many ways, and not the right match for Drake at all. And Drake had handled it all in step and later, he had moved on to dating others, too.
"He has a list, or... had a list. Of the hottest girls in school, and he crosses off their names after he gets with them. Now, I love the guy, but he's a womanizer." Jace wished he was kidding and part of him wished he knew he should stop, but he really didn't want Mia to get hurt. That's all that Mason did and Mia... Mia was too sweet to have to go through that, too. "Look, I'm not going to step in and stop this if you think we should leave them be, but I'm warning you about what Mason is capable of."
As far as Jace was concerned, Mason was one hundred percent, bad news. Of course, he knew that deep down inside, a little spark of the original Mason was probably still there. Jace remembered when Mason and Drake had transferred to the school back in freshman year, and he had made friends with Mason. Back then, Mason had been sweet, if not a little bit nerdy. He excelled in school, wore glasses, had braces, and often spoke with a lisp. It was these little nerdy things that had resulted him being bullied.
And then in sophomore year, he had met Adriane, and Jace had lost him.
"She thinks Jace is cute? Score." Mason grinned and looked back over at them. "So she's dated one shy artist dude before? That means Jace has a chance. He is a shy artist dude!" Well, musician to be perfectly honest, but it was close enough, right?
"If we stand over here too long, it might look suspicious. I'm hungry." Mason announced and then started towards the table, not waiting to see if Mia followed after him. He smiled at Jace and Sophia as he approached.

Sophia sighed at the information Jace had shared. Ugh, did Mia have to choose a guy like Mason? Sophia was torn, but waved the issue off for the moment. "I'll talk to her tonight. Or try to send someone else towards Mia later. Somebody that seems like a bad boy, but isn't actually bad. Maybe that's her type? I always figured she would like some nerdy guy, but she's surprised me before," Sophia said with a shrug. Jace was right. Mia could be manipulated or taken advantage of pretty easily. Sophia wasn't much better than her (outside the world of high school, at least) but Mia was innocent and naive to how the world actually worked.
Ugh why did she agree to this instead of taking sense into her cousin?
"Then we just make sure we don't split up as a group tonight. After we eat, Mia and I can go home. Or all four of us can hang out. I mean if Mia is with you or I, Mason can't use his charm or whatever to do what he normally does," she said. Well, she trusted Jace to protect her cousin. That was good. Even though they were the same age and Mia was much more mature, Sophia saw herself as more wise in the ways of the world and had a sort of mama bear like protection over her cousin.
"It's pretty dang adorable on him," Mia teased, looking over him and Sophia who was dressed in a pink and blue dress.
"Am I on the list...?" Sophia asked. She worked hard and had to admit she'd be slightly offended if Mason didn't have her on his list of girls. She was sure Mia wouldn't be on there, so that was a good sign, right? "Sorry. Off topic. But I'd love to know. Don't worry, I'm not interested in Mason and I could see through any charm or manipulation he might use. Mia's the one that can't."
"Anyway, when it comes to the whole Mia and Mason thing, I think we should feel them out tonight. If it's innocent enough, let them go. Mia will realize soon enough that Mason's bad news. If not, then we can step in," she decided.
"Yeah. Oscar was actually really cool. But he moved away. But yeah, she just doesn't like to make it public that she's into the whole awkward, creative, even nerdy thing that some guys have going on," Mia said with a shrug. She glanced towards the table and was glad to see Jace and Sophia in deep conversation.
"Good point," Mia said. She followed him.
"They're coming. We can finish this afterwards," Sophia said, reaching over to point Mason's approach. Mia was right behind him.
Mia slid into the seat across from Sophia and smiled. "Hey guys. How's everything going with you guys? Mason and I were just having a little bit of a discussion over which one of you is a better friend. I said Sophia. He said Jace," she said, blurting that out to hide the fact that they had been talking about getting Have and Sophia together. Hey, it wouldn't hurt to talk each of them up. Point out Sophia's good side to Jace and Jae's good side to Sophia.

"Good idea." Jace said back and, thankfully, Mason and Mia approached before he could answer Sophia's question on whether or not she was on Mason's list. Although Jace wasn't too familiar with the list (and was pretty sure Mason had thrown it out), he was pretty sure Sophia wasn't on it.
He was pretty sure Mason had thrown it out after trying to get Drake and Jace to join him in a competition to see who could get the most girls.
Mason laughed and shook his head as he slid into the booth after Mia. "Yeah it was a stupid conversation, but it passed the time." He smiled and picked up his menu, flipping through it.
"Well you are obviously lying about your conversation, but I'm touched. Mason, I didn't know I was your best friend." Jace teased.
"Really? Well, surprise. You know why you're my best friend?"
"... Broke?"
"Bills are expensive."
Jace sighed. "Fine, I'll pay." He grumbled. Jace may have put on a show about not wanting to help out at Mason, but he really didn't mind. Their family was rich, and Jace had money to spare, especially if it helped out a friend.
