The girl crossed her arms behind her back, and looked up at Nebula. "I don't think you know what I did. Just try shooting it! The first shot is on the house, but then I hav ta insist you pay me." There wasn't a part of the gun she didn't upgrade, except for the looks of course. The life span of the weapon had nearly doubled, and the cooling allowed for it to fire in bursts, where as before it had been only single fire.

"Your poor impulse control has been noted," Argus remarked. However, his attention was now occupied by something else -- the exchange between the little girl and Nebula...
"I calculate a 37.42 percent chance she has turned the gun into a bomb," Argus reported in Nebula's... aural orifice, or whatever gas-people have for ears. "It could be higher, but she is right next to you. Of course, being on this planet may have driven her insane, as it is very, very loud."

Nebula hesitated. The gun didn't exactly look like it would hold up well if she used it. For all she knew, it could explode right in her face when she pulled the trigger. "Very well. But I swear, if it's as damaged as it appears to be..." She let the threat hang. With a slight grimace Nebula turned, took aim and fired at a pile of the vendor's junk that was stacked a few yards away.

Nova rolled her eyes and refrained from commenting further. She just wanted to get back home so she could play with her new ball.
Nebula only heard Argus' warning after pulling the trigger, and her insides instantly froze at his words.

(Azu can call for or do something that gets Argus' attention, yes. Argus isn't physically there on the planet, he's remotely monitoring and speaking to everyone.)

"The gun does not appear to be an improvised explosive device," Argus reported belatedly. "Unless it's on a timed fuse."

It exploded... The Debris that is, not the gun. The gun fired three blasts in quick succession with only one pull of the trigger. If anything the weapon probably had too much power, as it could no longer be used in the confines of a ship. But if Nebula ever really wanted to blow something up, now she could. The girl held out her human hand towards Nebula. "So, are ya finally ready to pay me?"

Nebula blinked slowly at the girl, "Thank you, Argus." She said in a half mutter. "Who are you?" She demanded of the girl. The gun's power actually impressed her, but she hid her feelings well.

The girl held her grin and closed her eyes. "The name's Gauss, at your service. And this here is Wyre." She said pointing to the metal arm. "Don't judge the name though, he actually doesn't have any wires in him." That line sounded pretty weird, unless the arm was fake there was no way it didn't have wires inside of it.

Nebula gave the girl an odd look. She actually had a name for her arm? Weird. "OK..." She shook her head, "I can't actually pay you. But if this gun is any indication of your engineering skills, then I may be able to offer you a job." She'd have to talk it over with Mikhail first, of course.

"How can ya offer a job, if ya can't pay me?" She chuckled lightly. "It's fine though, twas what I was gonna ask for anyhow. Most of us can't get off this slab." It was true, most ships that didn't have some from of foreign license were shot down by orbital canons. Society wasn't ready to let most of the synthetics loose, especially after how their own society turned out. Not that any other civilization could truly say otherwise.

Nebula gave a small shake of her head, "Alright. There are still a few things I need to pick up before leaving." She hurried through the list of the gear she was searching for, "It would make my trip considerably easier, and quicker, if you would lend a hand."
Nova found Gazlow forcibly stuffed into something that basically accounted for a trash can, "Come on, dipstick. Ship's this way." The cydog knocked the trash can over and started rolling it, with Gazlow sticking out of it, back towards the cruiser.

Gauss nodded, and walked up right beside Nebula. "If you showed me the list, I'm sure I could get or make most of it. Unless you're needin' some coding done." She frowned slightly. "I'm not very good with computers." That sounded pretty ironic on a planet full of AI, Cyborgs, and robots.

Nebula made a copy of the digital list and passed it on to Gauss, "Mostly, we need new servers and related equipment for the onboard AIs." She frowned at the absurdity of the girl's last statement, but refrained from commenting on it.
Nova didn't like the looks she was getting from a group of miscreants, and hastened her pace to the cruiser. She was now kicking the trash can in an effort to move it along more quickly.
Gazlow would occasionally respond with a frightened screech. Whatever game Nova was trying to play with them, it was NOT a fun one.

(Gosh-DANGIT! Flux was the sapient energy-thing, not Nebula |D )
Admittedly, Argus was going to suggest to Nebula the possibility of recruitment -- there was the possibility of a few positions for Gauss. She could possibly serve in the Supernova department, but it required the best of the best surviving scientists. Maybe the Void Raiders...
Argus' projections were interrupted. Suddenly, it felt like all of his awareness of the cruiser and the away team evaporated. Of course, the planet was being all wily again -- its cacophony of signals must've dampened out his own, and Argus commenced the fight to cut through the interference and establish a link with the cruiser's systems again.
He returned just in time to detect Nova and kicking along a screaming trash can approaching the cruiser. "One may hope that more was gained than lost today," Argus remarked ambiguously to the Supernova division head. "As a reminder, I still do require hardware for the Caligo subroutine." Subroutine Caligo was something Argus proposed a while back, a sort of 'baby-AI' for lack of a better term. The AI had planned to use Caligo to perpetually run certain tasks that would wear down and detract focus from even the advanced Argus, such as breaking the genetic encryption on the cruiser's weaponry, so that Argus could continue to generalize and, in short, keep doing what he was doing now.

(It's fine. I didn't see the pre-edited post. You're good. XD) "Next time, Argus. Next time, for sure." Nova replied with a groan. "Hey Flux, open up. We've got company." She cast a wary look over her shoulder at the advancing team of young 'hooligans', as Nova referred to them. (heheheh... Funny you should mention the genetic encryption problem. One of my characters will be able to help with that, in a really unexpected way. )

(Hope you're safe |D )
Argus considered the exchange less than optimal. Why did Nova have to be such a... dog? Subroutine Caligo would have to be salvaged from elsewhere on Omega, but much of the 'junk' on Beta-3 often had useful qualities, while simultaneously being ridiculously loud on a signal flow chart.
Pre-empting Flux, Argus proceeded to use his time-tested strategy of exposing the ship's prodigious firepower. "It is safe now, ma'am," Argus reported, as approximately half a dozen auto-turrets aimed in Nova's general direction.

If Azu is with the rest of the away team, then, like I said, she'll have to ask for or generally do something that gets Argus' attention, since he's only remotely monitoring or speaking to them. So, to establish a setting, so to speak. What do you think Azu would be doing during this away mission?

You mean he'd try to recruit, or just be another body?)

(For anyone with concerns. You can make your own planets and races, they were just lost during the exodus. Most races have very few surviving members. With plenty being on the verge of extinction.)
