What would you give to protect all you hold dear?
Would you embrace your ideals into oblivion?
Or would you become a monster, to save even one piece?
Would you embrace your ideals into oblivion?
Or would you become a monster, to save even one piece?
The Vastness of space, once thought infinite and unknowable, has abruptly been redefined.
The countless stars, with innumerable worlds dotting the sky have long since burned out.
The sea of space has lost all of its islands. Nothing exists beyond our solar system. Nothing but the void.
We are all that's left. Tattered shards of forgotten people, and destroyed races. Refuges, warriors, and soothsayers.
What little form of a 'galactic' government that remains has issued one final statement.
"If we want to save anything, and protect what we hold dear from this encroaching abyss...
Then we can no longer allow fear, and morality to hold us back. Segregation, religion, and laws; all are coming down.
No weapon is too destructive, no action too heinous. In the end, everything will be justified."
Most of the population didn't realize just what this meant. But whether through your actions or another's, you were put on this path. You are the penultimate weapon of your group's design. Something horrid civilizations past would have abhorred.
Nothing is restricted. Countless races, forgotten histories, and science so advanced it might as well be magic.
You can only hope all the sacrifices it took to make you what you are will be enough. To save anything.
Your soldier has joined the Abyss Initiative. Civilization's last hope of keeping some light in the galaxy.
As long as you can scientifically reason it, even on the fringes of known science, you can be anything.
An unshackled AI, a genetically altered human, animals given sentience, or a religion that pulls from a source we don't yet understand. The age of heroes and villains is over. All that remains are monsters.

Nebula
Nebula is the command and logistic section of the initiative. Orders, and information come from this group. It's their job to get us to the right places at the right time, and make sure we make it out alive.

"We may be alone now, but together we will return the light."
Members:
Supreme Commander:
Designation: Mikhail Avaark
Race: Genetically modified Squirrel-cat hybrid
Division/role: Nebula/ Supreme Commander
Description: A small furry creature, with a squirrel tail and feet, and dexterous cat paws. He wears a black admirals outfit with a golf, red, and black hat. His pointed cat ears stick out to either side of the hat. Standing an impressive 1'5 tall it's amazing he has the position he does. Despite his vast military training and upbringing, there is one other benefit he brings to the table. The ability to empathize, and feel others emotions, while also letting others feel his. Becoming an unlikely source of inspiration, or courage.
History: The pet project of the previous supreme commander. Who died an inglorious death testing the Alpha Cruiser's engines. He was taught from the moment he was created, until the moment the SC died. Now the learning, and the leading is up to him. Constantly judged by his unique origins, and diminutive stature he sure has a lot of expectations to break.
Remnant: Omega Station.
Co-Commander:
Head Communications specialist:
Support units:
Designation: Nepeta
Race: A troll/cat hybrid.
Division/role: Nebula Support Unit
Description: Nepeta has gray skin, orange horns, cat ears, a cat tail, and gloves with sheath-able claws in them. Her eyes are blue, and she wears a green overcoat, a T-shirt with a cat symbol on it, gray jeans, and blue tennis shoes.
History: All anyone knows is she used to be part of a intergalactic squad.
Remnant: Her friends and family.
Supernova
Named for our final weapon. The supernova cannon. They oversee the research and acquisitions of all of our hardware and munitions. While also maintaining our base, and the more robotic crew. Their mission is to give us the tools, and make sure we're ready to fight whatever is out there.

"If we're gonna lose everything anyway, might as well end it with a big bang."

Head Scientist:
Designation: Nova
Race: cyborg dog
Division/role: Supernova / Head scientist
Description: Nova resembles a corgi terrier mix, but is completely bipedal and stands just over a foot tall. Her thick, blond colored fur is soft, and a white diamond marking adorns her forehead. Her large, pricked ears stand out from her head at an angle, and she has absolutely no tail. She is part cybernetic, but the only evidence of this is in her right eye, which glows blue-ish green. She wears a one piece suit that matches the clothing that the rest of the crew wears (red, gold and black), although the red on her outfit is more of a pink color. Sometimes she'll paint her nails to match.
History: Much of Nova's history remains shrouded in mystery. She was probably experimented on, like so many others. For whatever reason, she absolutely dislikes Mikhail.

Void Raiders
Our last best hope for any sort of future. The raiders are our glorified strike squad, the best and worst we have to offer. If they fail or fall, everything else is lost.

Pilot:
Squad Leader:
Designation: Nebula
Race: d'Ro (humanoid alien species)
Division/role: Void Raiders / Squad Leader
Description: Nebula stands just over five feet tall, with a delicate and feminine build. She has lavender eyes, and fair (slightly lavender) skin that is nearly translucent. Hair is a medium blue with silver highlights, and she normally keeps it in a braid. The tips of her ears are long and pointed (think Hylian, from the Legend of Zelda), and her canine teeth (both top and bottom) end in slight points. She doesn't wear too many colors. Her eyes have a cold, icy stare and she is almost never seen smiling, or displaying any other emotions.
History: Her mother died when she was born, and she was subsequently raised by her nearly emotionless father. He was a part of the Abyss Initiative, and she, naturally, joined when she was old enough. She has no siblings, no friends, no attachments. Her primary focus is her job, and maintaining professionalism and order among her crew.
Remnant: the last star
Squad:
Designation: Flux
Race: Sentient mass of energy
Division/role: Void Raiders/Ship's engine
Description: Flux is a living being of pure energy that resides within the Ship's reactor. The power of the ship itself seems to come from Flux. Without them, the Alpha Cruiser does not fly.
History: The process of creating the cruiser took geniuses and engineers from every race. But no known power source could give the ship the energy it needed for some of it's more reality defining options. The only solution that seemed to work, was growing a power source. Making an almost living 'battery' one that could grow and get stronger as it lived, making the ship stronger with it.
Remnant: The Alpha Cruiser
Designation: Serenity
Race: fish/cat hybrid
Division/role: Void Raider
Description: Serenity is a sea green furred cat with voilet eyes. Her tail has fins on the end and she has a dorsal fin on her back. Her legs have smaller fins on the joints. Her ears are very large and have tufts of fur on the tips.
History: Not much is known about her, but she did come from a planet full of forests and oceans. She would swim alot and had many friends. Not much is known after that exept that she now has a few close friends she will protect with her life.
Remnant: Her remaining friends

Designation: Gazlow
Race: genetically modified... thing
Division/role: Nebula / station security
Description: Gazlow appears only vaguely human. Quadrupedal, they possess four unnaturally long, arm-like appendages, with mostly ordinary hands, though their fingers are also overly long. The front two hands face forward, while the back two face backward. Gazlow's torso is unnaturally short. With that being said, their neck more than makes up for the length their torso lacks. Speaking of lacking, Gazlow has absolutely no hair, causing them to look that much more peculiar. Gazlow wears a stretchy one piece suit, which is colored gray and teal.
History: Gazlow was just one of numerous failed experiments, the intended result of which remained unknown to everyone but the head scientist. All of the other experiments either died early in development, remained in vegetative states, or had to be destroyed for various reasons. Gazlow was the sole exception. What they lack in intelligence, they make up for with their willingness to obey orders.

Civilians:
Station Omega
The home to the AI, large enough to house an entire world. Any facility, or requirement exists. Sustainable until the sun goes supernova. If all other worlds fall, this is our last home. And our last stand.
Alpha Cruiser
The bread and butter of the Initiative. A singular ship so advanced, and impossible that there can be only one. The strike vessel that bends reality itself to move. It is the first and last of it's kind.
Planets
1. Millinoth- Also known as the Forge world. A colossal planet larger than any other known body. volcanic, and filled with near limitless resources.
2. Candor- Despite being the second closest planet, it is always dwarfed in Milinoth's shadow, turning it into a frozen wasteland.
3. YinGarosh- A solitary and unique being. A sentient creature large enough to be an entire planet. The last of it's kind, the UGC brought it into orbit for safe keeping.
4. Vanneau - a planet comprised mostly of vast oceans, teeming with abundant aquatic lifeforms. The sentient race is amphibious, and resemble a humanoid axolotl. This planet supplies most of the fresh water to the other planets, due to its abundance.
5. Celeste- The seat of the Galactic council. Home world of most sentient races, and biggest supporters of the AI.
6. Vis'Kahtan- Converted into a farm world, every square inch is used to feed that vast amount of civilizations in Bastion.
7. Beta_3- More popularly known as the scrap world. Home to all forms of mechanical and cybernetic 'life'.
8. Gallery- A once verdant, and vibrant planet. Taken over by bio, and nuclear war. This wasteland has since been converted into a galactic firing range, and weapon tester.
9. Tortuga- What used to be a planet sized prison for the galaxies most wanted, has now become their home and base. After the announcement of the Abyss Initiative all prior crimes were pardoned.
