"I'll miss you too..." she murmured back. Doeleap licked his ears, trying to calm him down. "Of course they will!" she purred. "They'll know who their father is."

Troutwhisker nodded and pulled back, looking her in the eyes. "You're right, Doeleap," he gave a weak smile. "You always are. And I'll make sure I come back. For you, and for them."

Sparrowpaw stepped up beside her brother. "Meltedpaw is right mom," she mewed, "and I want to go. I don't want cats to die if I don't. I want to make dad proud. What if he is the one who picked me?"

Troutwhisker licked her cheek and then sat beside her, their pelts brushing. "I want to make sure Owlwhisker has me, too. I'm not his dad, but... He's still family to me, especially now."

"But Erminetail will be with her mom!" Meltedpaw argued. He knew his mother was spending more time with the tom, and he was still unsure about that.

Gingerfoot overheard the conversation between mother and kits, and padded over. "Burntember, I know it must be hard to let them go," she started, "but your daughter will be a Clan hero. She'll make you so proud. Isn't that exciting? Even a little?" Gingerfoot wasn't trying to intrude, but she knew Sparrowpaw didn't really have a choice in leaving, so she was just trying to help.

Gingerfoot gave her a sympathetic smile. She understood where Burntember was coming from. This was her daughter. She thought of what Meltedpaw had said, and decided he has a point. "If Erminetail cares for Sparrowpaw as he seems to care for you, then I'm sure he'll make sure she's fine," she mewed. "And I know the other clanmates will take care of both of them. There are a lot of them going. Strength in numbers and all that."

Riversong looked up in surprise as he heard his name mentioned among the cats that would travel. His eyes seemed to shine with excitement but other then that, the tom remained unchanged as he sat by the warriors den.

Redfang shuffled her paws looking uncertain. She glanced across the clearing at her half-brother and frowned before looking away. She sighed and sat down away from most cats.

Ferndapple looked quite relieved no to be part of the list of cats. She let out a small breath and laid down in the shade of camp.

Hailheart was a little disappointed and gave a small grumble. However, she couldn’t complain too much as she had a new apprentice.

Sparrowpaw sighed deeply. "Fine," she growled. Of course she didn't actually mean it and she was sure her mother knew but she didn't care. She wasn't going to go on the journey and not be part of it.

Burntember sighed. Her mother always said she'd have her paws full if she ever had a daughter like herself and..well her mother was right! "I suppose I have no choice. Promise me you'll stay safe at least.. I'm sure your father will watch over you,"

Rainfang was surprised when Harestar called his name. He felt honored and hoped that he would fulfill his duty. Glancing around, Rainfang looked for someone to talk to about this.

Hawkwhisper twitches her whiskers as she looked at Pinepaw. "Told you so." She said a big smirk on her face. Hawkwhisper had become a warrior before Pinepaw and she always had a feeling Pinepaw would become a medicine cat. Pinepaw rolled his eyes and swipes his paw at her ears. "Oh shush! Besides I expect you to treat me with respect!"


Galefoot was about to say something until he heard a loud bark. He looked over his shoulder to see a dog growling at them from a distance. "Oh not again!" He groaned.

Ferndapple stretched and rose to her paws. She began to walk towards the freshkill pile and noticed Rainfang as she made her way passed. They had been apprentices at the same time so she felt a bit obligated to say something on him being chosen for the journey. She gave a small smile to him and mumbled a quiet. “Congrats.”

Shiverpelt was shaking visibly, not liking this. She felt as if StarClan was punishing her for abandoning her clan during the badger battle and felt lightheaded. Feeling as if everyone voices were crowding around her she felt a surge of panic and didn't know what to do, and just sat there, shocked and shaking.
