Coming to was slow for Salsa, but hurriedly she pulled herself to her feet. The reindeer were close by now, sniffing around her wings. The wildclaw hurriedly backpedaled, stumbling far more than she would have otherwise. She cast a look up in the tree, at the passed out body of Vanessa, and frowned. Great. This wasn't going to be easy. It took more maneuvering than she expected, but somehow she got enough space between herself and the tree to try and fly. Some of the reindeer remained behind, attention on Vanessa. Salsa started looking around for the young reindeer which had been out of place before. If it was possible to catch it, then they'd both get out of this room.

[[ Living Room || Mini Arlo (timewarped) || strider ]] Arlo shook her head quickly at his worried reaction. "N-no, I'm fine! I just have this thing that... Well I don't really understand it yet." It wasn't much of an explanation, but she really didn't know how she could explain it. It was definitely true that she didn't understand it. "Oh good," she replied, managing to smile slightly in relief. She wasn't sure yet how, or if, her powers could affect others. "Sorry I startled you... It's nice meet you too, Combeferre! Have you blinked in many times? I don't think I've seen you here before."Combeferre tried to understand, but he figured if Arlo actually wanted to be understood in what she was saying she would have made herself a little bit clearer. It was obviously something either she didn't want him knowing or something that she didn't yet understand, and she was telling the truth. He wasn't going to press. "Nice to meet you too!" Combeferre piped up. "I... well, no! I've only blinked in once before. There was this really nice girl here. I'd like to meet her again, I think. Tell her that she made me smile and also made me want to ask my father a lot more questions!" he blushed as he realized his voice had been rising with excitement. "Sorry," he murmured sheepishly.

Matt sighed, giving a resigned shrug. “Me too. Oh well...the House can’t keep us from our fun forever.” He was vaguely distracted by the priceless artifacts everywhere - sure, 99% of him knew it was a catastrophically bad idea to try and take anything, but at the same time, a good 1% of him was thinking of all the high quality hardware he could afford if he pocketed even, like, a handful. Following Nico, he made his way over to the scroll, tilting his head curiously as he got near enough to read it. “‘ Welcome, travelers’,” he began to read, pulling his goggles up onto his head so he could see more clearly. “‘ To the Cave of Wishes. If there are things you desire...simply speak them out loud, and they will become yours. No matter how extravagant, or how humble your request...it will be done.’ Aaand, that’s all it says,” he finished, reaching up and scratching his head as he pondered the message. “Well, that’s like, the dictionary definition of ‘too good to be true’...” Nico narrowed his eyes. It sounded vaguely like a prophecy, and he was immediately distrustful of prophecies. His distrust came from experience. "There's any number of tales that highlight exactly why you shouldn't wish for anything you want," he grumbled. "I think King Midas would have a few choice words for this room..." he shook his head before looking around briefly and then back down at Matt. "What do you say we try it out?" A ghost of a smile danced on his lips for a second before disappearing as his expression changed into one of contemplation. "I want... a pen and a piece of paper," Nico spoke out loud, and one appeared before him. A black pen and a black sheet of paper. Perhaps the least practical for writing on. "Great," he muttered. "I bet it won't ever give us anything we want without a catch. Bet it's not too safe to just... ask for a way out." He wasn't actually that bothered. "I wonder why it chose to take us here."

"That is a matter of our individual opinions," admitted Maladict, taking another sip from his coffee cup. It seemed like his hand tightened ever so slightly on the handle, but it might have been more for personal comfort than anything else. He took the hand and shook it, this at least seemed to be a jester which he could understand. The name didn't even receive an eyebrow rise. He'd expected it to be odder than he was used to. Then again, considering the regiment nicknames which were already forming, he couldn't afford to say what was and was not weird. "About three-hundred miles from Uberwald. Which is all on the Discworld. Uberwald is the one with the thunder ... werewolves ... old kingdom of the Dark?" He seemed to be testing things to try for some sort of recognition. But it was hopeless. "Honestly ... I bet this place isn't even that dramatic." He glanced around then, apparently at random, shouted, "And there's the ... caaaaaastle!" He paused, listening, then sighed. "No. Just as I thought." "If we're going to develop the conversation like this, we might as well discuss that all that exists is relative." Ougi's shoulders tilted upward, then bowed in a smooth shrug. She shook his hand firmly--a little too firmly--and then released it, her well-oiled arm drawing her hand back to her side and against her skirt. "Thunder and werewolves? And... a castle? Hmm... this place seems like something out of a movie, doesn't it?" she asked, ironically to him. She didn't seem to give these names of places any thought, but in reality she was taking mental notes just in case the information would somehow be pertinent. The student spun around so that her back was to him now, and she took one thorough step forward before drawing her feet together again. She was gazing toward the door with a faint smile. "Have you seen the rooms, then?" "What's a mov-ie?" questioned Maladict. This wasn't the first word he'd ever heard which didn't make sense. It was just one of many. Uberwald didn't exactly function like the rest of the Disc. Everywhere else had its little quirks and understanding. Borogravia was different in its own way as well. Probably because of its god. "Werewolves aren't particularly unusual," he added. "They just don't get out of Uberwald much. Vampires on the other hand ..." He took it as a given others would see him as a vampire. He did look like a good movie imitation of one. Widow's peak hair, black clothing, slightly pointed teeth. "Depends on which rooms," he said to Ougi by way of answer. "I've been in two."

“A movie is where people stand up and pretend for the entertainment of an audience. In my world, most people do not believe that things like werewolves actually exist.” She carefully avoided any declaration of whether monsters did or did not exist. “You look like you could be an actor yourself,” she pointed out. The student glanced back over her shoulder toward Maladict, blinking her curious black eyes at him. Her expression was asking him to elaborate, but she decided to prompt him with speech too. “What were they like? What precisely happened when you were there?” She was hunched over ever so slightly, taking on the disposition of some kind of conspiracy theorist. She would never consider herself to be something so irrational, but she did entertain a myriad of supernatural explanations for the Paradox House’s goings on.

{What a wonderful drawing ;o; } "If you say so." Eises took her coat off and tossed it to the freezing boy. "I'd offer my shirt but I don't have anymore layers, sorry." She laughed sheepishly. Her shirt was also quite warm, once again as part of her endurance training with her magic. She decided to tone down the air-conditioner-like air that she gave off. It was back to the levels of a normal ice-user, but to her, it was a rare sight to feel it so low and warmer than what she usually gave off. It felt a little strange. She couldn't help but grin when Noctin came to look at her phone. She had to move her head to the side, as Noctin's was taking up all her space and she couldn't see the full screen thanks to his head. "It does other stuff, like send messages and goin' on the internet, but it looks like the House only wants it to take pictures today." She was slightly thankful it didn't allow her to go on her browser. She still didn't know much about the internet and probably wouldn't be able to answer Noctin's inevitable questions. It was something Evina always nagged her to use more, so maybe she would once she returned home. "Here, watch this." Eises lifted her hand a bit and tapped the corner of the screen that had two arrows whirling around each other, and within a second the screen showed off the front-facing camera. She gave a toothy grin before pressing the button on the side of the phone, making sure all three of them were in the photo. "And look look!" She tapped on a different corner of the screen, and the phone brought up the picture. "Film?" Noctin echoed, trying out the strange word. He nearly dropped the camera as the coat was tossed on him. Clumsily snagging it before it fell to the ground, he awkwardly placed the camera and loose film back on the counter, then put the coat on. It was very long on him, nearly brushing the ground. Distantly, he noted that it smelled vaguely dog-like. Hopefully the scent wouldn't cling when he blinked out. Still, it was immediately warm and very much appreciated. "This is good, thank you," he said, snuggling into it. "You can send messages with these?" he asked, blinking in surprise. How? There was no paper. Did they write something on the box and then deliver it to the recipient? "And what's internet?" Perking up, he looked at the screen, taking a tiny step back as he caught sight of his reflection. "Woah!" he gasped, eyes wide as she took the picture. "That's us!" he exclaimed, excitement sparking in his chest as he looked to Eises and Rae. Rae held back a laugh as Noctin's questions came in about the phone. It really was difficult to think of up explanations for someone whose world had no where near the level of technology that hers and Eises' did. "Yeah, you can write out a message on it and then it'll be instantly sent to the other person's phone," Rae said. "Er, you know how we blink and just pop into existence here, it's sort of a bit like that in how it seems. It'll just appear on their screen when you send it." If her cell had a keyboard she could have used that to show Noctin a bit more, but alas it was a normal touchscreen and was refusing to exit from the camera. And then she wasn't even going to attempt an internet description.
Rae glanced back up when Eises switched her phone camera to face them, and almost instinctively she threw up a peace sign for the picture. She grinned at Noctin's excitement, a small laugh finally escaping her. This was so endearing to see. "Looks pretty good for a first House selfie!" Rae pondered for a moment, head tilting just a bit. "Do you think it'll keep it after you blink out?" Eises stayed quiet as Rae explained. This was reminding her when she joined the Echo for the first time and discovered many forms of electronics herself. She had to take a few seconds to think about Noctin's question. How did Evina put it for her? "It's like.... a network? And you can read stuff and watch videos and talk to people." Well that wasn't the best explanation. "And videos are like movin' pictures by the way." That was satisfying enough, right? Her tail started to wag, "I hope so!" Maybe she can finally tell the others back home about the House, this could be used as proof, right? She opened up the Photos app; it seemed like every other photo she took showed up along with the most recent one. She showed the screen over to Noctin, "See, just tap any of these photos and it'll show up bigger. It saves every picture I take." "What else are in these cabinets?" They should probably check them out. They wouldn't be full of just cameras, would they?

The concept of werewolves not existing was ... weird. Maladict tried to consider it, but it was like trying to think about a world where vampires didn't exist. It was ... almost sad, if it wasn't for the fact he didn't particularly like werewolves. It was on principle. He still didn't know what Ougi meant with all the 'actor' stuff. It wasn't keeping up the same idea that he held. Anyway, theater was against Borogravia's religion. You didn't see it much. "Um. There was a room which seemed to just be that. A room. There were several soft blankets on the floor and a much better coffee selection then I am used to," said Maladict, as if this had been the highlight of the room and Ougi could possibly tell where it was by that. "Another seemed to involve a foreign holiday which I was very unfamiliar with."

"A room with coffee... you enjoyed that room I'm sure," Ougi commented, voidlike eyes practically creaking as her gaze shifted very slightly downward toward the mug he brought. She presumed the other room he encountered to be the lodge, and would guess that any holiday experienced on Earth would be completely foreign to him. It wouldn't get her anywhere to talk about it. Then again, Ougi wasn't always about efficiency. "Oh, on Earth we celebrate many holidays in winter." She nodded knowingly, face relaxing ever so slightly as she turned it away from him again and toward the door. Then she began to walk forward, feet shuffling against carpet and pawlike hand reaching for the handle. "I wonder, is this place aware primarily of Earth? It would make sense because many blinkers here are from Earth, and it uses many symbols found on Earth. It wouldn't be an illusion, as people like you from somewhere other than Earth do in fact notice these things and question them..." The student whipped open the door to the hallway, quick movement jarring against the soft mumbling into which her speech had devolved. She was facing Maladict all of a sudden too, while she held it open. "Well now, shall we explore more, Maladict?"

Maybe it was the fact there were still beast around on the ground which kept her from going that deep into sleep. But it seemed like her pure exhaustion, coupled with the stress, had knocked her out just as much as Salsa had been. (RPing knocked out people was never easy. )

Neb blinked into the living room, one hand pressed to an ear while her other hand was outstretched in a scrolling motion. She ceased her movements though when the screen and her earpiece disappeared, and it took her a bit of a moment to adjust as she slowly turned around to face the rest of the room. The last time she was here--
She shook the thoughts away and stepped forward to take in the space she'd left long ago, her feet taking her to wander near the bookcase. "I'm imagining what your household might say," muttered Myrnin as he blinked in. His attention was diverted, however, when his view of bookshelves was replaced by ... different bookshelves. It was interests he was starting to recognize the pattern of the colors on the spins. He turned his head just a little ... and there was Neb. Or rather, a blinker he'd never met, with the most amazing ears he'd ever seen. He took a step forward, suddenly uncomfortably close to a blinker he'd never once met, leaning in until he could better see her ears, measuring with a finger. "Impressive!" he exclaimed. "Can you hear better with those? Or would you know? Am I loud to you?" He was a bit loud. Just a bit. (This ... is ... just what he's like. )

XD "Very," said Maladict. "I like coffee." He allowed a small, half-amused smile to cross his lips. He listened to what she had to say, of course. Even if he didn't understand all of it, he still assumed it was important - or might be. He followed her without protest, since it looked like they'd be entering a room. "I noticed that," he said with a sigh. "The fact it seems to be focusing on your round world." Duchess, that sounded odd. A round world ... How come they didn't fall off the sides? Were they all very good at balancing or something? It seemed like Ougi was leading this party, which the vampire was fine with, since he wasn't that used to leading. Nor was he a veteran blinker of the House. "Fine by me," he said, setting his coffee mug on the floor and in a corner, in case it would get jostled. "Did you want to pick a room?"

"Huuuuuum?" said Myrnin, tilting his head. "What are you and then I can tell ya whether I've met someone like you or not. I mean, probably not. But all sorts of blinkers turn up here. We have dragons. Did you know we have dragons?" He seemed pretty enthusiastic, which didn't match the mood he'd first blinked in with. Escaping the awkward conversation with Theo was much preferred than trying to have them both pretend things were alright. Being enthusiastic here was - like - his goal. It kept his mind off things. "Who are you anyway? Name? Please be an interesting name. Oooo! I noticed you have interesting teeth too. Sharp. I got sharp teeth too." It didn't look like he did ... and then suddenly that first assumption was very wrong as he temporarily unsheathed his fangs. He pointed a finger at them before they snapped back into place behind his regular human canines.

Ougi waited for Maladict to head out and followed him very closely, popping his personal space bubble with every step. She kept her eyes squinted slightly, from jest rather than suspicion. “That is very strange, isn’t it. At least, I would say it is so.” The cloth of her sleeve tapped at her chin, grasping for insight she didn’t have. Or perhaps she had so much insight that she couldn’t decide which lead to follow. Her ‘uncle’ was an oddity expert after all, and she had plenty knowledge of the modus operandi of the supernatural. The one hand did not part with her chin when he distracted her with the prompt, and she reached her free arm toward the nearest door handle. She reached past Maladict to do it, and subsequently pushed him into the room along with her. “Oh my, I’m sorry about that!” she said, her inflection gushing and even flustered but her body language showing no expression of the sort. The words were out of her mouth before the tumble was even complete. Now she was on the floor. At least, it acted like a floor. But it appeared to be water in every other aspect than being flat and solid. The surface was like a hyperrealistic projection. It was perhaps more precise to say thay it was like ground, because the location was clearly meant to be the outdoors in some remote location. There was even weather: an occasional warming breeze, and tropical scents. A dark green dot sat on the horizon, and a brown, rectangular dot sat in the same direction but much closer. It was a boat, only about forty meters away. Seeing no imminent threat, but instead a quiet and even relaxing ocean landscape, Ougi stood—soles of her shoes scraping against the ‘water’ as if it were concrete—and brushed her skirt off. Strangely enough, the bits of dust and detritus that came off of her uniform dipped down past her legs and sunk into the ominous surface. It appeared that only the blinkers themselves were prevented from dropping into the sea. “Well then, do you think we’re stranded at sea? How dramatic,” the student commented, rather excitedly. Even she said little though, taking her time moving in circles to both get accustomed to the space and make sure walking was safe.

</div>“Yeah, I’d say that’s about right,” said Matt, secretly disappointed as it seemed that Nico was going to take the cautious(okay, sensible) route and avoid wishing for anything. But when he jumped straight from that to ‘let’s try it out’, his lip curled into a mischevious grin. “Aw yeah. I like how you think.” He watched with rapt attention as Nico wished for the simplest possible object...a pen and paper...then chuckled when the result appeared before their eyes. “Aha...I bet you’re right,” he said, nodding thoughtfully along with his new friend’s hypothesis. “We ask for stuff, but if we’re not one hundred percent specific, the House’ll find a way around it. Makes sense, I mean - whoever controls all of this seems hella mischevious.” He wasn’t sure why it had chosen to take them here...who ever knew with the House? But it seemed like a fun place to experiment...if you were careful. ”Okay,” he said, turning again to address the air. “Give me...a sandwich.” Right on cue, a ‘sandwich’ appeared - glue and crayons nestled between two ceramic plates. ”Welp...” He held it up to the light, squinting. “I guess it’s a sandwich? Technically?”

There it was, legs still shaking as it struggled along with the main herd. The others kept close to it, protecting it from the eyes of the blinkers. Salsa growled a little under her breath. This was ... problematic. She didn't know how to get it. She was assuming she needed to catch it alive. But those things didn't really look like they wanted to keep her alive. Salsa circled the herd once, finding the net which had been used before in attempt to catch the young deer. The wildclaw grabbed it on the way past. This was something she was more used to. She'd hunted creatures before and taking them alive wasn't a problem. Adjusting the net was a struggle for a second, but by this point the reindeer had caught up again. Even the little young one was there, but hanging near the back. Salsa breathed out slowly, eyes flickering over each of the creatures. Then she darted forward, leaping at the last second, and allowing the snare to be tossed to the wind. It missed the small deer, but she hadn't been aiming for it. Instead, it tangled up in the one which had been closely protecting it. Salsa, in the confusion, grabbed at the small reindeer, even as it complained loudly. Now she had it, however, she wasn't sure what to do. She was in the middle of deadly reindeer. But even as she thought that, the other reindeer disappeared in a flurry of snow, suddenly leaving Salsa standing in the middle of reindeer snowman. The wildclaw blinked, surprised. The small reindeer, still a regular deer, scrambled out of her arms. It seemed perfectly docile now, and looked back at Salsa as if it wanted her to follow it. It darted toward a tree, then back, then to the tree again and pawed at it. The wildclaw sniffed. Was it that easy? She scrambled out of the snow, walking to the different tree where Vanessa was still caught up in the branched. It took a little, but finally Salsa was carrying the passed out body of the woman. From there, she walked toward the tree the small reindeer indicated, reaching out a talon to rest on the trunk. The world rippled, returning to the living room.

Borogravia was landlocked. It had a river, which served as a border, but not only did it move around so much (and thus contested by ear) so Maladict had never seen it, but it wasn't large enough to compare to an ocean. The vampire seemed slightly panicky. And, also, water was not something he'd always been friendly with. Particularly moving water. And that was all the ocean did. Just because it seemed like a projection didn't make him comfortable. “Not … exactly.” He said, slowly picking himself up. “Don't you have to be in a boat for that?” Watching the reflective movement was already making his stomach toss. What did that mean? He'd never felt sick like that before. “Ugh … what do you do in a room like this?”

“It was probably Chamomile,” he admitted. “Or Salsa. They are the two I am more familiar with, though there is Mikhail …” He trailed off. Myrnin took Neb's hand smartly and shook it. His grip was firm, though it hadn't been the intention. He was fairly good at regulating his strength, but he wasn't perfect. “Myrnin!” he said, smiling. “Alchemist by profession. Vampire by species. Hence the fangs.” Once he'd dropped Neb's hand he made a sweeping bow. He straightened and added, “Though I don't know if you have any of those where you are from. You are a veteran blinker.” It was a statement, not a question. “So I don't know who you've met. Are you a soldier? Detective? Scientist or questioner in general? The House tends to run to themes.”

Neb paid attention to the names for in the case she got to meet any of them. While Myrnin's handshake didn't put her off, she did note some of the strength behind it. "Ah, I was thinking of that," she said once he mentioned being vampire. "It's nice to meet you." She leveled her gaze on him at the statement, a curiousness glinting across her face in wonder about the correct assumption. "I am, I guess in a sense. Though I'm feeling kind of new all over again." Neb reached to rub the back of her neck with a shrug.
She didn't know what or even who to expect here. She hadn't gotten to ask Enjolras about how the House worked now - if it was even different at all. "I don't even know who I've met anymore," she mumbled, not really meaning for that to slip, and she flinched to herself before covering it up. "Nah, none of those! I'm a superhero...er, slash titan. I fight crime, protect the people; things like that."

dawn Lark"See!" Myrnin said emphatically as Cham blinked in and pointed at her. Apparently, for now at least, the tension between himself and the Wildclaw was forgotten. The whole her killing him and doing so for a good reason was probably going to stick around for a while. "Dragon!" He dipped his head at Chamomile. "That would be Chamomile!" He cleared his throat, catching up to himself again. He stopped ending things in exclamations. "Yeah, that happens a bit. Feeling new all over again. I mean, it hasn't to me, but ... I know people." He was unaware, at least for now, that he'd been here as a child. He nodded slowly, looking sympathetic at her words. Then he pointed at her and said, even nodding to the Wildclaw, "Well ... things change. But that doesn't mean there aren't ways to meet new blinkers. Chamomile's a healer, last I heard. And I'm, like ... trying to figure this place out." He allowed a manic grin to slip back onto his face. "Though I usually try to wait for Hange and Loki before I attempt to blow anything up. I'm not sure if we have any superheros. Maybe you're our first! Lotta people fight crime here though. Do you have a super power then?"

Well that was a fast coincidence. Neb waved in response to the dragon and offered her name again. "Hey there, I'm Nebula Star." Addressing both of them, she added, "Neb for short, by the way." She almost always gave her nickname right off the bat, knowing that sometimes saying her full name all the time was a mouthful. She wondered then briefly if Myrnin knew of Shilo and Arlo's history when he referred to other people. She listened to the rest of what he said, again taking note of names she didn't know.
"Oh, really? That's cool!" she shot Chamomile a grin upon hearing her to be a healer. That was always good to know. "And, well, good luck with that." Neb snorted a bit. Still after all this time and no one knew all the workings of the House, huh. "I'm not really--" she waved a dismissive hand-- "Danny is sort of like one-- if he's still around." She hoped he was, it had always seemed like no matter what he was one of the people most constant here. And when I was younger I met another hero. Kieth? Or...Kurt?" She couldn't quite remember what his name had been. She laughed then in jest. "What, the glowy eyes don't give it away? I do, I can control dark energy and matter. A bit of gravity with it sometimes too."

(Pardon for the wait, might fall asleep in a bit.)
The wildclaw stifled herself from losing anymore breath by speaking observing the interaction as it went about. Adrenaline from the battle came to its peak seemingly as the vampire gave her a smooth introduction earning Myrnin a grateful look. Her mixed eyes pulled themselves off the ground to see Neb give her name, along with that of a few other individuals. To the both of them she hesitated walking any closer but cleared her throat, "Healer, aye. My skills cover that of a mage, that of one still learning." She had confirmed their general impression of her modestly, yet flustered at the sliver of praise she had received. Hearing the superhero say that filled her with a lingering sense of nostalgia she couldn't exactly recall - to do so was extraneous. While they chatted about powers it came to her attention as her tongue couldn't hold her two cents on the matter of past blinkers any longer. "If you don't mind me asking Neb, who was this Kurt you mentioned?"

“Ugh … what do you do in a room like this?” "Hmm, you have a great point. You would have to be in a boat, or on an..." she looked toward the horizon with the small, green dot, "...island." She appreciated his scrutiny of the situation though, deciding not to belittle the comment so much. "Oh," the student added, "Don't worry. It looks like this kind of water somehow isn't fluid, and it also won't work against vampires. That won't stop you from getting seasick though." Ougi paced out toward the boat now, having finished going in circles, and didn't so much as glance back toward him over her shoulder to be sure he followed. She walked like one would walk down the hallway of a school, or in a line at a fast food restaurant: mundane steps, but with a purpose that she would soon fulfill. She even seemed to be reaching out toward the boat as if that would make the process develop faster. "In a room like this, you proceed to where you are not. In other words, you continue to discover something new until you discover the answer, whether the newness is something physical or mental. So in a room like this, you follow the most obvious clue; trickery usually doesn't appeal to this place."

[[ Living Room || Mini Arlo2 || strider ]] Both of Combeferre's ideas were true- she didn't really understand what she was talking about, and she still felt a bit uncomfortable trying to explain it to someone she'd just met, especially when she didn't even know if his world had magic, so she was glad that he chose not to press for answers. Maybe she could explain later, once she'd learned a bit more.
She couldn't help but smile as she listened to him ramble about the girl he'd met the last time he'd blinked. "That's alright," she said when the boy finally stopped again. "Who was she? Did she explain blinking and the rooms and stuff already?"
