Matt nodded thoughtfully, eyes trained on Nico as he spoke. He could easily see the discomfort held behind that statement - the momentarily blank look in his eyes, and the quick calculation of what exactly to tell him. “I hope you will someday,” he said, sympathetic. He was lucky enough to normally have plenty of time to devote to his hobbies, but he was familiar with those busy weeks surrounding cases where there was barely room to breathe, much less play around. “Hey, do you like card games?” he asked suddenly, getting an idea. “I’ve got a bunch in my backpack - you might not have time for hobbies back in your world, but hey - this is the House.”

Razzle Dazzle "Em-o?" asked Myrnin, suddenly mystified. "Is that not a furry red creature in a children's show?" He was referring to Sesame Street. It was probably best not to correct him. He watched her wave the cookie in front of his face, only for her to eat it. "What did the cookie ever do to you? Never had a chance to live. Never had a chance at all." He looked around, since it avoided the cookies and he could look at the Lodge. He ... hadn't actually noticed he was still here. "Not that I know of," he said. "I haven't exactly see much of note lately. It is mostly just ..." He waved a hand around. "The usual." But then he moved back to this 'performance' Nore was going to be putting on. "What performance? Robin Hood-style archer contests?" Nore had her bow under her arm, and now her hand on her hip as she chewed up the cookie. The crunch of it was the crunch of her evaluating his thought process. How do you get Elmo from emo? The irony was laughable, but apparently not so much as his next comment was hilarious. Her mouth blew up like a balloon, trying to contain her laughter and prevent the cookie she had yet to swallow from spewing everywhere. Thankfully she did manage to swallow it, and then she doubled over cackling at his deadpan humor. It was extreme enough that it could have been a performance to appeal to him. Still, it was quite genuinely Nore. "It's a secret performance," she shushed him. "I'll have you know I'm still an actor. A performer!" Both hands were on her hips now and she puffed out her chest. The way she didn't go into detail made it obvious that even she hadn't planned out everything about the 'performance' yet.

Part of Myrnin was very pleased Nore was laughing, though he'd been completely (or as far as he wanted her to know) serious in everything he had said. "Despite being an actor," he pointed out. "I've never seen you act. Or are you just so good at it that I've never noticed? Why does the performance have to be secret anyway? If it's back in your world, I didn't think we'd get to see it since we're all in the House. So wouldn't telling me make the whole thing more fun? Hum?" He was trying to convince her, even though he didn't think he'd have that much luck.

Winter Lodge -- Kid, Arlo, & Eli -- Auransky --cato phoenix The thief didn't send Elliot a sharp look. He wanted to, but maybe it was something about the House which had started to desensitize him to a sentence like 'preforming a rather grand execution'. It bugged him. Of course it bugged him. But he couldn't change it. It was what the House had taught him almost from day one. The situation other blinkers had in their respective worlds couldn't directly be changed by him. Just like they hadn't been able to change many of the things which had happened to him. He placed another ornament on the tree, fingers a bit stiff. "I see," he said, wondering if Elliot had his back turned for some other reason than what was expected. Was it to avoid seeing their expression? But he had learned one thing. Elliot seemed ... world-hop? Was that the right term? He wasn't from one exclusively, at least. Though Kid couldn't guess what Elliot's life might be like because of that. No wonder the House wasn't frightening or odd. "Arlo?" he questioned after a second. "What do you think?" He nodded at the tree. "Think we're done?"

Arlo nodded to Kaito before hanging another ornament and writing a few more lines on the paper. She listened as the older blinkers started talking about Elliot's world. No, worlds. He could travel between them? She was about to speak up again and ask him about it when he paused, but stopped when she started talking again, frowning slightly at his words. A grand execution? "I..." she started slowly, not really sure what to say. Luckily Kaito's question gave her a different topic to talk about so that she didn't have to trail off into silence. "Think it could use another one." The girl reached into the box again and pulled out a glass candy cane. She considered the tree for a few moments, then hung it on a branch near the middle of the tree before stepping back to look at it. "There!" she said, her smile returning as she opened her notebook again. She'd started a sketch of the tree earlier, but hadn't added any ornaments since it hadn't been decorated. "It was pretty nice of the House, giving us the tree and stuff. I couldn't decorate much in my world last year, we had to start getting ready for a trip right after my birthday."

"You just haven't noticed," Nore dismissed, wagging her hand at him and drawing her head back smugly. "I'm like a ninja," she told him and struck a pose where her hand turned into a fist and pointed toward him. His logic was winning the conversation though and she stuttered for words for a moment when confronted with having to give up her plans. "Uh... Everything's more fun when it's a secret. I'll tell you later." She reached around toward the table again until she found the hot chocolate, using her palm to feel the steam. Displaying her progress in her fine motor skills, she lifted the kettle and poured it confidently. "I always wondered if stuff you eat here stays in your stomach when you go back to your world..." she brought up.

Winter lodge - Arlo, Kid & Eli : mintedstar/fur --cato phoenixHearing the plain hesitation brought familiarity to light. It's words that are commonly thrown around in times of war, in other worlds it is worlds that mean life or death... Grand didn't necessarily mean great, but it could be used to define the magnitude of an event. The other two were trying to shift topics, good... that'll keep them off my back. They are better off wanting not to know the hell we live in.. He started to walk to the side of the tree. Thanks to the efforts of the three, the tree had been given life a new air of breath and seemed livelier then ever. Such a shame this moment would become but another memory soon, nonetheless enjoyable for the moment. Unsure as to what to say he remained silent, he only had so much to say when the conversation was in his favor, at other times he had absolutely nothing to say. For this reason when approached, he was suggested he try to interact, and for that reason hardly anyone bothers to approach. He kept listening to the two in the background though, it was better then nothing and their conversations actually had flavor, unlike everyone he was used too, more concerned about his reaction rather then speaking to one another.

Shilo blinked into the lodge. Her finger tips were bleeding, there were a few cuts on her hands and arms, nothing bad or dangerous but probably painful nonetheless. There were two cuts on her right cheek, not deep, they probably wouldn't even scar, but beads of red liquid trailed down her pale skin, staining it. "I'm trying, it just hurts..." Shilo's voice was little more than a breath, a whimper, a plea. She was looking down at her bleeding hands. Her finger tips were the worst, and where most of the blood was coming from. When no response came about her futile trying, her admittance to pain, she looked up to find herself in the House. Her breathing picked up as all of the emotions she'd been suppressing bubbled over in the safe isolation that was the lodge. Tears started rolling down her cheeks, breaking through the trying blood from the two cuts there. Shilo slowly sank to the floor as she tried to control her breathing.

Eddie blinked into lodge as if this overarching delusion had taken a liking to pestering him to no end recently as for the other unlucky souls it had snagged on the way. The frazzled reporter was wearing a leather jacket, underneath wearing a long sleeved black shirt with "FILLMORE" in big, white letters, denim jeans, and his beaten up reebok shoes. Certainly most had stopped giving him the side eye, unbothered to change his style to blend into the crowd as if that would have changed anything nor was he one to be so flashy unlike the questionable man that stood right in front of him. "Hey there, you, uh, don't here that often either?" He asked the man, raising a hand to resemble a wave only to put it back down midway. "Look, there aren't that many great icebreakers in this place - tried getting rid of coffee from getting back here but as you can tell it didn't work out."

Jax gave a nod. "Yeah, the world is a lot easier now than it used to be. At least, that's what everyone keeps telling me." Maybe it was easy if your sister wasn't missing and you weren't trying to hide who you were... Jax followed the girl's gaze toward the window. "Nah, not even a little. In fact, I'd probably enjoy it out there more than I would in here." He told her, leaning back on the palms of his hands. "I'm not really sure how cold it could be before I start feeling it the same way other people would. I haven't been able to make it that cold, or go anywhere where it is that cold. But I want to, some day at least." The teen sighed, looking around the lodge as he tried to think of a question to ask her. "So, um, do you have any special tricks or skills?" She didn't have powers, but maybe she was useful in other ways.

Vanessa did her best not to watch the wildclaw taking flight. But truthfully, how could she not? Dragons were not exactly social creatures in her world. In fact, she had only ever been on a dragon preserve once, and only for a brief time. Another sanctuary had wyverns, but they were slightly different - thought perhaps closer in appearance to Salsa as any other dragons she knew of. She shouldn't have underestimated the reindeer. The problem was, she hadn't thought they were worth the time at all. Herbivores which liked to stay in cold climates. She hadn't been in the House long enough not to take what she knew in her world didn't always apply here. The deer started to move toward the narcoblix with surprising speed. Vanessa looked back at them sharply, eyes narrowing. Not good. So, she did a logical thing. She ran. A vast pool of colorful words would have been fit for the wildclaw to shriek into the cloudless sky. This time she watched under her pale, white gaze as the reindeer had made their choice clear and one they would soon to choose to regret in the foreseeable future. To the narcoblix she tilted her chin motioning towards one of the snow coveres trees as she pulled herself closer towards the herd. The herd themselves were somewhat quick to catch on leading chase towards Vanesa with a surprising bloodlust for your average hoofed beast. So much for an easy room.... "Over here chompers! Some good ol' grass waiting to be eaten!" Salsa bellowed furiously stunning a good chunk of the herd in their places, others veered off in all other direction exposing a particular reindeer with a shaking fawn with a bright red nose quivering by its side. Bingo! Vanessa bolted for the tree, since at least she could get higher than the reindeer. Here was why she didn't like going into a place without having a whole lot more back-up than a wildclaw could offer. She didn't dare look back. If she tripped, she'd be trampled at best. Instead, the blix ran right at the tree and jumped, her hands reaching out to grab onto the nearest branch. Doing this, you always trusted the branch would be sturdy enough to hold the weight of a grown human - at least for long enough to get higher up the trunk. But instead, the branch splintered under Vanessa' hand and she cried out, tumbling backwards and landing hard. Her shoulder was cushioned by a bit of snow and dead grass, but she banged her head on a tree root. The world spun dangerously for a second, even as she scrambled back to her feet, swaying. (Salsa to the rescue?)

"Whoever you are, you suck." Another blunt remark had passed through the man's non-existent filter directed at a rather panicked scientist yet he had been blinked in, at a wonderful time no less, unaware of what he was to behold in front of him. His wardrobe was minimal as ever consisting of a plain grey hoodie, blue jeans, and his trusty ol' shoes that never let him down save for the time he fell into the bay once. His attention once snapped over to the sound of shaky breathing and what have you when you're on the edge of your wits. "Whose - Shilo!?" A raspy cry of alarm left him as he went straight to the young girl's side. The scene itself was once he felt bring back a pang of worry he'd been pushing back, buckling down on his knees to get a better look at the once preppy kid. "Shilo, it's Eddie. I-I'm here, everything might get better if you tell me what happened or how to help. You don't have to say squat but know that I'm here for you." He gave way to offer some space between them, offering aid in a concerned tone that had weaved itself into his speech.

Winter Lodge -- Kid, Arlo, & Elliot -- Auransky --cato phoenix"That's nice," admitted Kid with a nod. He remembered similar situations other blinkers were in. Some of them didn't get any sort of festival or holiday at all. He looked the tree over. It seemed impressive, he had to agree. But it was one part of the winter which was done with. He looked back to Elliot and Arlo. "Would you both like to go outside?" He nodded in the direction of the door. The windows showed a view of the outside and the snow falling beyond. He thought it might be an interesting experience to see what it was like out there this time. He didn't remember many times he'd been out that far. "Otherwise, we could do a room, but I haven't been outside the Lodge yet. Have either of you?" It looked a bit cold, but he thought the House might have something around. Right? Maybe, at any rate.

The blood was racing in her ears. Blood...the last time she'd seen blood had been the day her mom died. She was staring at her hands. Her face was wet, was she crying? Everything seemed so far away. A voice broke through the pounding. "-know that I'm here for you." Shilo looked up to see Eddie. He looked panicked, even more so than she was. "Hey." She choked out. "I'm okay. It's just..." She looked back to her hands. "It's just a few cuts." Her breathing had started to steady, though she looked like she wasn't quite all there. "Papa's teaching me how to throw knives. He says I can't stop until I hit the target, but he put it really far away. I keep cutting myself. I tried to ask him to stop but he cut me instead. He said the best dog trainers are the ones not scared to be bit, so the best knife-men are those not scared of getting cut." The tears had stopped now, her voice was even, almost too even. "But, he's just trying to teach me to be good." She murmured. "He just wants me to be good." There was something in her voice, like she knew what Eddie was going to say about her Papa before he said it. She was already defending his actions.

Jax gave a nod, smiling. "Good, know your skills. Yeah... I don't know what your world is actually like, but from what you told me, it's probably a good idea to only do little things for now. You'll get a hang of things from watching, and then you'll be able to do more." Jax didn't really fall into that idea that kids couldn't do much. There were as resourceful, if not more so, than adults. They just needed the right place to show off. Sometimes, sadly, that was at the end of humanity.

Jax gave a nod, not sure what else to talk about. Luckily, Clem had an idea. "Fun... Um, yeah I play a couple sports with a couple people I know. I read a little bit, but not a whole lot. Mostly I just kind of wander around. I'm on my way to New York right now, but dodging the foster care system is getting harder. Which is stupid, like, by now they should know nothings going to keep me with a family..." He blushed, looking down, not meaning to divulge that much information. "I play video games sometimes too. But usually, I just kind of like to mess with people. Sometimes, I'll throw snowballs at people in the middle of the summer, just to see the reaction." He smirked at the memories. "But, what about you? What do you do for fun?"

(Salsa to the rescue?) (Cue salsa being salsa.) Her prized goal stood in front of her on a silver platter simply standing there waiting to be taken. It's beady little eyes solidified its grasp on the bounty hunter as did the mother whose attentive stare bore down on her. She held her own gaze yet her concentration on the duo's ticket out the room snapped literally as the narcoblix ill fall could be heard from the now shaken clearing. Instinctively she would have snapped at the remaining deer to spook them but keeping her partner on her feet alive was ideal. The wildclaw threw the gnarled net on top of the mother in a rush, sweeping her off the ground the process as the fawn fell to the mother's side as a result. As that occured, Salsa made a beeline towards Vanesa or where she had thought the other injury prone, her movement became similar to that of the reindeer themselves, oblivious but frightened. This wasn't looking too good... "I'm coming!"

"Oh, yes--" Clem sat up straighter, suddenly very interested-- "I'd like that very much!" She was really happy now, and she was feeling pretty accomplished. She'd found a nice place, found someone who also enjoyed reading, and she'd made a friend. Seemed like a good day to her. Clementine gave a big smile. Jax grinned -- a genuine, happy grin. "Alright, all see if I can find them, and I'll bring them to you next time." He promised, giving a decisive nod. "Hey, don't worry about it. As long as you're safe and happy here, then I'm happy." He flashed another smile, sitting up a little bit straighter as his back started to ache. "I'm glad I could make your first visit here a good one." He looked out the windows again, imagining playing in the snow. "So, tell me some more about yourself. What grade were you in before your world went to shit?" The word slipped out before he could catch it. He winced a bit, knowing that he'd made a mistake for letting the word out.
