| Hector | PIT FIGHT | with Kaladin IN THE PIT | Hector quirked an eyebrow as if to ask, You good? With Kaladin's dip of the head he continued, preparing to strike again. He backpedaled as Kaladin's fist came towards his solar plexus, stumbling as he did so- he normally avoided backpedaling. Kaladin's blow connected, and Hector couldn't help but let out a wheeze. Ouch. The two had landed first blows, and he adjusted his stance, ready to go on the offense again as the fight heated up. It was nice, to spar like this again, the only stakes being one's pride. He feinted left then came at Kaladin with two quick jabs, sacrificing full power behind the blows for quickness.

</div> Sol | PIT FIGHT | mintedstar/fur Iceclaw |"I got six," said Sol with a triumphant grin, knowing six cheese crackers would surely bait him into a fight. "Still in the package, too. Not moldy or anything." She paused when Myrnin mentioned what he was betting in return, and thought about that for a moment, aware that she didn't know what he actually had on him. "I dunno, food. Or a knife. Whatever you got. And you better be ready to hand it over, cause I'm totally gonna kick your butt," she added, a confident swagger to her tone. "Okay, on three," she said, planting her feet and raising her fists again. "One...two...three...START!"

The next two fighters were two people Kelsier didn’t know, but they certainly appeared more evenly matched then he was sure he and Nico had looked. The thought brought a small smile to his face...Nico had won that fight, and Kelsier hadn’t let him on purpose. It might have turned out differently if Nico hadn’t said what he had, but still, it had been an even match. Anyone who knew Nico that well ha probably been rooting for him, anyway. If Kelsier could have known what Nico was thinking, what he had decided he couldn’t tell the Mistborn...what would he have done? He’d have fought like hell to make Nico change his mind, probably. It wasn’t true, Nico wasn’t expendable, Nico could never be expendable, and anyone who had agreed was just wrong. People were not expendable, they mattered, Nico mattered. End of story. If he could have known he would have told Nico right there that he’d meant it, and that Nico was going to survive, because he always survived. That was what the two of them did. They went through hell and they always came out the other side and it wasn’t fair and it was exhausting and they did it anyway because that was just so they were. He looked up as Nico spoke, blinking a little. Oh. He looked away, focusing on the fight instead of the kid. He couldn’t lie...he wanted to lie, but he wouldn’t. Everything told him to lie, everything screamed at him that if he didn’t want to lose Nico he better make up a convincing excuse, but that wasn’t wha the did. “Something you said was a little unexpected, that’s all.” He said quietly, focusing on the fighters. He couldn’t look at Nico somehow. Didn’t want to see him realize what he’d said if he didn’t mean it.

(Same aaa :') They're really precious and I'm loving this so much) Scarlet | Living Room 4.0 | strider
It seemed like Zuko's world didn't have the normal animals she knew, but was full of all kinds of hybrids. That itself was an interesting concept. How would these animals have evolved to grow into such strange mixes of otherwise nonrelated species? The description of turtleducks even sounded like a perfect mix of the two. "I guess my world is pretty boring then. When it comes to normal animals at least." Scarlet wasn't very surprised that it was his favorite. It somehow made sense. The image of the 'tough' boy feeding little duck-like animals got a chuckle out of her though. "I've got a little animal myself! A fennix! They're similar to foxes but have yellow markings and they breathe fire" the Novakid explained. "I guess they're typically classified as monsters though." She guessed that talking about his beach home wasn't such a great thing to talk about. Zuko got pretty quiet and Scarlet assumed he must be missing it a lot. The topic of volleyball excited her though. "I think I've heard of that! It's a human sport and they used to have big matches on their home planet. They seemed to have big matches for everything, now that I think about it..." she pondered before quickly snapping out of her thoughts again. "My parents never really liked those competetive games though. They were all about being 'peaceful and dignified' so they never let us watch it or play, at least when they were around" the Novakid added playfully. "So you're something like a bounty hunter?" Scarlet questioned. What else would someone his age be doing on a ship to find an old man? "I do a little bit of that myself, tracking down wanted criminals and fighting off monsters that some village people don't want to get rid of themselves. It's more of a part-time job though." She was glad he seemed to be relaxing a little more, opening up instead of turning away. The Novakid once again felt the urge to ask him about that scar, but once again stopped herself. Her parents had raised her better than that. It would be way more rewarding if he just told her himself, without having to pry it out of him. Scarlet once again felt herself captivated by the fire bursting to life within his hand. She had always been fond of it and couldn't help envy Zuko a little for his abilities. Pondering over his words, she just stared at the flame for a moment before speaking. "Well, isn't it? I use torches to light my way all the time. It might be a bit primitive, but practical nonetheless. I sometimes use my weapons to light the way too." The Novakid stared at her boomerang that still laid next to her on the couch, before picking it up. "This old thing would be very handy as well once I upgrade it. The scorched cores I gathered would probably spend some additional light too, despite looking awesome, of course."

Hook | Pit Fight | @/shade mostly “Could be,” Hook seemed doubtful of Shade’s optimism for the fellow, but he offered the tentative comment to show he didn’t really mind Kelsier’s opinion either way. He already had plenty of reason to be on high alert in the House - with or without him as an enemy. The pirate’s attention remained on the ring as the fight went on, his eyes narrowing when the subject of their conversation suddenly hesitated. He leaned partially forward, silently urging Nico to capitalize on the mistake he did not know, nor care, the explanation of. To his satisfaction, Nico brought him to the dirt at a moments notice of his stumble, and the captain leaned back with a sharply muttered praise and a grin on his face. “Looks like it,” he chuckled in response to Shade’s comment, giving a short nod in response of Nico’s acknowledgment with a smirk still on his face. Judging by the glance Kelsier also sent his way, he could wager there was still some animosity between them, so he merely smiled back. The next fight ensued quickly, at which point he leaned towards Shade again. “You willing to loose anything more than shoes? I’ll put....ten gold on the bloke in green.” Ten gold was a decent bet for an individual he’d never seen fight before, but it wasn’t like any exchanged coin actually stuck after blinking out.

| Hector | PIT FIGHT | with Kaladin IN THE PIT | Hector caught Kaladin's gaze and gave him a quick silent nod of approval. It had been a good hit, a fair one, and Hector didn't want him to pull any punches. Hector certainly wouldn't be. The way Kaladin watched him showed that he was analytical, strategic. He was certainly no fool, and Hector found his respect for the other man growing. He was someone Hector would be glad to have as one of his generals in his own world. If Kaladin's world couldn't look past his status, then that was their loss. Hector stepped to the right, then grabbed at Kaladin's arm in an attempt to throw him down and forwards past him.

Nico followed Kelsier’s gaze towards the fight. It was interesting, how different the next pair fought. Interesting, how they spent most of the fight closer to each other, exchanging blows instead of evading each other and trying to show off like Kelsier and Nico had. They had learned to fight in very different ways, it seemed. Kelsier and Nico were both used to being alone and being outnumbered, having to fight people that were stronger and faster than they were. It seemed the newcomer and Hector were both more used to one on one combat – or at least having other people with them to back them up so they only had to focus on one enemy at a time. “What do you mean?” Nico asked after a moment, tilting his head just a little. He tried to run over what he had said. He didn’t think he had said anything bad… “I was just trash talking… Oh.” His brow creased, and he stared at the ground for a long moment. “Was it what I said about you knowing me better than that?” He frowned a little bit, not quite looking at Kelsier. “I just thought…” he sighed. They were really going to talk about this now, weren’t they? “Gods, I overstepped, didn’t I?” he leaned his arms against the barrier, burying his forehead on them. They hadn’t even really talked about being friends, hadn’t made that distinction, and though Nico didn’t think Kelsier hated him anymore… maybe he was reading too much into this. Maybe they really were just acquaintances, maybe Kelsier didn’t think he knew him. He breathed out, lifting his head again. He hadn’t yet realized what he’d said. It had happened in the heat of the moment, a thought he hadn’t really meant to give voice to, hadn’t… hadn’t realized he’d said out loud.

There were a lot less flashy moves to this fight, Kelsier realized. Either the two just weren’t as dramatic as Kelsier and Nico had been, or they weren’t used to fighting the same way. Maybe both...Kelsier guessed that they weren’t as used to fighting as alone as Nico and Kel were, for one. He glanced at Nico, trying to read him as he watched the fight. Did he notice the differences, too? Probably. He was a fighter, and that meant he was trained to see those differences. It made sense that he would take note of different strategies in a fight he wasn’t even in. Kelsier was trying to put off the moment they had to actually talk about this as long as he could, and it showed in his thoughts. He looked at Nico, trying to keep his expression neutral, even though he found he cared. A lot. It surprised him how much he cared. “No, Nico, no, you didn’t overstep,” he said quickly, shaking his head and reaching to run a hand through his blond hair. “I mean...you’re not the one who overstepped.” They were really doing this, weren’t they? Right now, it seemed. He glanced around, noting who else was there, wondering whether they would be better off waiting...but then, who knew how long they could do that for. It was never a good time. He faced Nico again, searching the boy’s dark eyes, his own hazel ones shining with an unusual light. It wasn’t often he looked quite that worried, after all. “You don’t know what you said, do you?” He said quietly. It was obvious Nico didn’t have any idea. How was Kel supposed to tell him if he wouldn’t remember on his own? “Right before what you said about knowing you better.”

Nico would have much preferred to think about literally anything else. His eyes watched the fight, nodding appreciatively as Hector grabbed for Kaladin’s arm, but his heart wasn’t in it. There was too much else on his mind. He couldn’t just… stop thinking about the hard things. Even if he wanted to. So Kelsier thought he had overstepped in that last room. Was that a reflection of what Kelsier thought about Nico, or was it a reflection of what Kelsier’s actual thoughts were? This was why they needed to talk, but Nico wasn’t sure he wanted to. He wasn’t sure he wanted to face all of this. He didn’t want to tell Kelsier all the reasons he shouldn’t want him as a son. It was so much easier to pretend that Kelsier definitely didn’t feel that way. He glanced at Kelsier for a long time, trying to read his expression, trying to figure out what he was thinking. “Before…?” Nico frowned, trying to think back. Don’t you know me better than that? No, not that. You think I’d just give up? No, that didn’t make sense either. His eyes narrowed just a little bit. Had he said anything else? Really… Oh. Oh. His eyes widened and he breathed out, his face turning bright red. “I said that out loud,” he mumbled, pulling his arms back from the railing and half looking like he wanted to walk away. But they’d started this conversation. They had committed to it. Nico found he didn’t want to look at Kelsier. He didn’t want to see his expression when he told him he hadn’t actually meant it. “When you say you overstepped…” he breathed out, hunching his shoulders and shoving his hands into his pockets. “Does that mean you meant it?”

They had come to understand each other, come to have this ease between them, and the very last thing Kelsier wanted to do was break that here, in this room, right after their first spar. They’d had fun, they’d really had fun and everything felt so fragile now, like one wrong word would smash it all. He wanted to take it back, this conversation. He almost wished Nico hadn’t asked what had thrown him off. Then they could have pretended they didn’t need to talk for a little bit longer...or forever, maybe. No, he wouldn’t have wanted to ignore it forever, he knew that, but he did wish they didn’t have to talk about it right this second. Then again...he might feel that way about every second. He saw the moment Nico realized. Saw the expression on his face. Out loud...did that mean he’d been thinking it? Had he only thought of it because of what Kel had said? He didn’t know, he didn’t know enough to know what Nico meant, didn’t know enough to navigate this difficult terrain. Nico wasn’t looking at him. Was that because he didn’t want to see proof that Kelsier had meant those words? Or because he did? Kelsier breathed out, trying not to get wrapped up in his thoughts. That wouldn’t help anything. He needed to focus on what Nico wanted here, not himself. He needed to stop being selfish for two seconds and pay attention to someone else. His heart stopped at the question. There it was. Out there, in the open. And Kelsier had to answer, he couldn’t walk away from this, not this time. Dammit. He wasn’t good at this. He really wasn’t good at this. “You know I can’t lie to you,” he said after a long pause, his voice very quiet, almost lost in the sounds of the room. He didn’t look at Nico. “You know I won’t lie, especially not about...” He didn’t look at Nico. It was the sort of not looking that said every muscle in his body was screaming in protest. Which he pointedly ignored. He breathed. “Yeah, Nico,” he said finally. “I meant it.” There it was. The thing that could end this. He’d overstepped, screwed up, and now Nico was going to tell him to back off and he was going to listen, because he would not be another painful thing in Nico’s life. He refused to be another person who hurt this kid.

“It doesn’t sound very boring,” Zuko replied, frowning a little bit. “You have animals I’ve never heard of, which… makes it pretty interesting, I guess.” He couldn’t help but try to imagine what a duck would look like as opposed to a turtle. Other animals with the suffix turtle had shells, so a duck that wasn’t a turtle duck would just be… the feathered bird-like part? He couldn’t really imagine what a turtle would look like. What sort of animal went in that shell? Anything he tried to imagine wouldn’t come even close to the reality of it. “Fennix,” Zuko repeated, trying to imagine that as well. He could sort of see it – he knew what a fox looked like, if only from the books his mother used to read him about spirits. He closed his eyes for just a moment, picturing yellow markings. “Sounds like they’d be pretty at home in the Fire Nation.” He gave a small smile at that. “Why are they considered monsters?” Monsters, to him, were big and scary and… well, monsters didn’t exist. There were just animals and people. He didn’t know enough about the world to know that people could be monsters yet. “Our parents sound really different,” Zuko replied after a long moment, frowning just a little bit. He couldn’t imagine Ozai asking them all to be peaceful. “Well… my mom was sort of like that. But mainly she just wanted me to play with my sister and her friends. It didn’t really matter what they were playing.” He glanced at Scarlet, shifting a little bit. He was too old to play with Azula and her friends now. He was old enough that he should have been learning how to lead the Fire Nation, not chasing the Avatar around the world. Well… chasing implied he had seen him. But he existed. He had to exist, because his father wouldn’t have sent him to do something impossible. His father hadn’t banished him forever, there had to be a way to get his honor back. “If I find the Avatar I can go home,” he replied after a long moment, lifting his gaze to meet where he thought Scarlet’s eyes would be. Did she see from those or did she see a different way? It seemed impolite to ask, but… maybe he would. “That’s cool,” he added after a moment. “It means you stop people from hurting other people. Which is good.” The smile touched his face for just a moment at that. He turned his attention back to the flame, his expression intensifying just a little bit. “We use torches, but I’ve never used my bending for light. I’ve never really thought to.” It made him think about fire in a new way. It was more than just… a way to hurt people. His fingers itched to touch his scar, but he resisted. “Maybe when you get your boomerang upgraded I can see it. Assuming we see each other again here… I haven’t seen anyone twice, though.”

Nico closed his eyes. He knew that there was a certain ease between them, something that had happened in all the rooms they had been in together that led them… to this. To whatever this was between them, this comfort. He had let himself fall asleep on Kelsier. That didn’t come out of nowhere. So what were they doing? Where were they going with this? Nico frowned, desperately wishing for some easy way out of this. Some way in which Kelsier cared about him the way he said, and Nico wouldn’t have to tell him that it was a bad idea. Some way in which Nico didn’t have to be afraid of getting a family and then immediately dying on them. Kelsier had hesitated, he’d looked startled, looked like Nico’s words had been just as much of a blow as the direct hits had been. Did that mean he didn’t want to believe it was true? Did that mean that the words… had been wrong, had been upsetting? Nico was probably thinking about this too much. He couldn’t know what Kelsier had meant until Kelsier actually told him. He couldn’t help the nervous glance he cast in Kelsier’s direction. Couldn’t help but note the way Kelsier’s face tightened, the way he wasn’t looking at him. He wanted to back out of the conversation, wanted to say ‘oh never mind, it doesn’t matter, let’s just… not talk about this ever again.’ But he couldn’t. This needed to happen, even if he didn’t want it to. Nico looked away, tensing himself as he waited to hear that Kelsier hadn’t meant it. That they weren’t that close, that it was weird that Nico thought they could be. That it was probably better if they took some time apart. No… no, if the answer was that he didn’t mean it, then they would just keep going like they had been. Just… maybe a little bit further apart. He wasn’t going to lose Kelsier over this. “Oh.” The word escaped him in a rush, like he’d been holding his breath and finally let himself breathe out. He stared at the fight for a few long moments, brow creasing as he tried to figure out what to say. He stayed silent, instead letting his body act for him. He turned, throwing his arms around Kelsier and burying his face in his mistcloak. It wasn’t an answer, but it was the best he could give.

Kelsier didn’t know when they had gotten so close, but it had happened. There was no doubt about that. At least...Kelsier knew he’d gotten close to Nico. And Nico has fallen asleep on him. Twice, again even after Kelsier had screwed up the first time. What did that mean? What did it mean that he seemed to care about Kelsier as much as Kelsier cared about him? Or was Kel misreading this completely? He was good with people, he was convincing, he was a good speaker and working to become the hope the Skaa needed. But he was out of his depth here. He hadn’t seen the words coming. He hadn’t expected it. And he was trying his best to not act until Nico actually told him how he felt, because he would not mess this up, he would not make this worse if Nico didn’t want him to have meant it. He had to tell the truth, of course, he couldn’t lie about this even if he thought it would push them apart, even if the thought was like a physical wound in his heart. He didn’t want to meet Nico’s eyes. He didn’t want to see his expression when he said he wanted Kelsier to give him some space for a while. He would do it, of course, but he didn’t have to like it. So he wasn’t looking when Nico embraced him. “Oh.” He let the word out just as Nico had, in a rush of air as he looked down at the kid. He hesitated, as shocked as he had been when he’d lost the fight, trying to wrap his head around the fact that Nico was...happy. He hesitantly wrapped his arms around the kid, loose enough that he could pull away with ease still, but enough to reciprocate the hug. And he smiled. It was an answer, as far as he was concerned. Nico was okay with it. Nico was actually happy about it. The Mistborn breathed out, the fight forgotten, the others forgotten. They might as well have been alone in this room, just the two of them, having a conversation that somehow hadn’t ended up hurting either of them, “Mare always wanted a kid, you know,” he said quietly, only for Nico’s ears. “She’d have loved to meet you. Me...I didn’t know I wanted to be a father until I was one.”

Shade | PIT fight | @/des mostly
Shade kept half an eye on the two new fighters stepping into the ring, mostly watching Nico and Kelsier's exchange. Though she couldn't and wasn't terribly keen to hear anything, it was curious to see how the interaction went, especially after the fight they'd just had. She had to wonder what the context was, but, well... Sighing, she looked back to the ring. Not her business, not her place, and she opted not to be invasive on it since it seemed pretty personal. "Ten gold, hm? Do you even have gold?" she inquired, smirking cheekily at him and giving a low chuckle. "Alright, fifteen on the other one then."

Nico wasn’t good with people. He knew that most people didn’t like him, and though he had to admit that it was at least partially his fault, he hadn’t really known how to fix it. He wasn’t a people person. He didn’t know what people meant sometimes, and he didn’t see how Kelsier could possibly have meant what he said. He was… he wasn’t the kind of kid people wanted. He had made plenty of mistakes, he was downright creepy sometimes. He hadn’t been to school since he was ten, he took risks he didn’t need to take… no, he was a parent’s worst nightmare. He had been the least favorite sibling, he’d known that Hades had wanted Bianca to survive instead of him. No, it didn’t make any sense at all that Kelsier thought of him like that. But maybe, just maybe, it didn’t need to make sense. Maybe they were both the kind of people who looked at sense and laughed in its face, because the sorts of things they needed to do couldn’t be done in a world that made sense. Nico wasn’t prone to showing affection. He didn’t like physical contact, he was uncomfortable when people got too close. Yet… hugging Kelsier had felt like the right thing to do. The right way to answer, to tell him he was glad, to tell him he had meant it, even if he hadn’t meant to say it. The fact that Kelsier left the embrace loose enough for Nico to leave if he wanted was enough to confirm that he had made the right decision. That he had reason to believe it, to mean it… he was grateful for the chance to leave the embrace but he chose not to take it. “Oh,” Nico whispered again, relaxing a little bit against Kelsier. “I’d have liked to meet her, too,” he admitted after just a moment. Maybe he would, one day. Not that… not that it would be the same, because any Mare that could blink in wouldn’t know the Kelsier Nico was familiar with. He closed his eyes, holding the embrace for a few more moments before he finally pulled back. “Sorry I threw the fight,” he said after a long moment. “Maybe we can rematch in the living room. Next time. Or eventually.”

| Hector | PIT FIGHT | with Kaladin IN THE PIT | Kaladin's balance was good- he was too steady to be pulled off course. Hector let go of his arm and brought his hands back up in front of himself defensively as Kaladin swung with his other arm- there was no chance to dodge, so he brought up his arm to block. Kaladin's blow glance off his arm and still connected- with the punch he'd landed earlier probably forming a bruise, it stung. Kaladin's strategy was sound, and Hector made a mental note to be ready to block another blow there. Switching up his strategy, he swept a leg out, attempting to knock Kaladin off balance again.

The thing about Kelsier was that he was good with people and still managed to get on their bad side. The nobility didn’t like him for obvious reasons. The Skaa didn’t like him either...at least he knew not all of them did. He couldn’t actually blame them, as much as he wanted to. What he wanted from them was a lot to ask, hard to give, and he understood why they didn’t want him making trouble. But if they thought he would stop for that reason, they didn’t know him at all. Looking at Nico now, he wasn’t thinking of his own world. He wasn’t thinking of anything but what this meant. Nico deserved someone who cared for him, he deserved a parent who wouldn’t just put up with him because that implied they would rather do something else. It wasn’t obligation that brought Kelsier here, to this moment. He had a bad habit of shirking obligations. No...it was Nico who had brought Kelsier to this moment. And the Mistborn didn’t regret a single step he’d taken. He knew what a hug from Nico meant. He knew it was rare for the kid to show affection, and he guessed it was even more rare for him to do so in front of a lot of people he may or may not know, though he didn’t know that part for sure. But...here they were. And it hadn’t hurt them and it was okay, somehow it was okay. Kelsier had never really felt lucky before. What he had, he’d fought tooth and nail to get, and to keep. He’d lost Mare, he’d lost absolutely everything and he’d stood in the wreckage of himself and he’d picked up one thing, a picture of the flower, and he’d built himself again from scratch. If he’d known of the way people on earth sometimes fixed broken pottery with gold to make the cracks stand out, he might have seen himself in that, because he had not only survived but come back stronger. Now, though...now, he felt lucky. To be chosen. To have Nico embracing him when he didn’t do that, or almost never did. He couldn’t seem to stop smiling. Not that he was exactly trying. He gave a small, gentle laugh at that. “I’d like that,” he agreed quietly. “Full powers should be different, too. I’m much better with my Allomancy.”

Pit Fight | Shadepelt15Hook scoffed, “Course I’ve got gold,” he said with a grin. Of course, it was pocketed in the coat he’d discarded across the ring, but he figured that would be an issue for later. He cocked his eyebrow at her raise, answering with a mockingly defensive; “fine.” “Bastard doesn’t stand a shot anyways,” he muttered with a light shrug, pulling confidence for the blinker he was betting on straight out his ass. “He’s pinned in defense,” he pointed out as he watched her wager get pushed back, his focus flicking back and forth from the actual fight and the side commentary he had with her.

"Oh I don't doubt you've got1 it, just surprised the house let you blink in with it is all," she mended, grinning back at him. The tension, intended or otherwise, was deeply amusing and she wondered for a moment how anybody could find his banter (vocal or otherwise) remotely agitating. It was just damn funny and charming. Shade focused on the fight for a moment and raised her eyebrows in acknowledgement, nodding slowly. "True, true. Perhaps he'll sort himself and get his footing to make a comeback... Interesting fashion sense they've both got though, don't you think?" she asked, voicing a rather remote thought the moment it occured to her. Not that she could judge effectively, her own attaire was purely for functionality and comfort. Hook however, well, she had confidence in his fahsion sense enough.

</div> Myrnin | Pit Fight | <Raintalon> IceclawSix cheese crackers worked for him. Though he did note, "Mold adds flavor." Still. Six crackers were six crackers. And anyway. He probably had something. She probably didn't want blood. But he probably had something. Eh, he was down, why not. The vampire aimed for the legs. Small children, they moved fast and were usually pretty jumpy. Best to make sure she couldn't jump around then.

Sol | FIGHT | mintedstar/fur IceclawThe second Sol heard the swish of Myrnin's clothing, she knew he was moving fast, which meant the fight had started. The second she felt something touch her leg, she jumped high, mostly clearing his attempt to trip her. She landed slightly off balance, thrown by the tap she'd gotten from him on her way up, but she recovered quickly, throwing her leg out to the side out to brace her landing. Quickly, she skidded around to face him again, relying on the subtle sound he was making scratching around in the dirt. And his clothes - his clothes were making a lot of noise, which was giving away a lot of what he was doing. Did he know that? Not wasting time thinking about it, she hurled herself at him at top speed, wanting to make contact. Once they were grappling instead of keeping their distance, her hands would do the work for her.

“What are you suggesting?” Nico asked, brows raising as he continued to push against the cannon. “There’s gonna be a way out of here some way or another,” he replied, though that was mostly realism speaking, not optimism. There was always a way out. Although… Nico wouldn’t have put it past the House to make the only way out murder. It must have found it amusing, watching Hook kill him. It had happened twice, after all. It didn’t seem like just coincidence. “Okay well, not every world has sea monsters,” Nico replied stubbornly, though he didn’t actually know that was true. With the large number of worlds there were… well, there had to be one that didn’t have sea monsters. “I mean, I know sea monsters attacked the ship I was on, but that’s cause we were basically a homing beacon.” Having a bunch of demigods on a ship sounded a lot more dangerous than just having a bunch of random people on a ship. Maybe sea monsters just liked ships, though. “What was your favorite to fight?” Nico asked, glancing back and giving the cannon one last shove. He knew he wasn’t going to get anywhere on the plank thing. Apparently, those were just fiction. Shame – the image of someone being shoved off a plank was practically synonymous with pirate ships in every media with pirates ever. Nico didn’t see Hook’s smile, otherwise he likely would have stopped pushing at the cannon. He had no idea it was a setup. Finally, he got it lined up with the port, his breath coming in gasps from the effort. He was stronger than he looked – mostly because he looked like a malnourished kid who had his growth stunted. “Okay,” he managed, finally looking back up at Hook. “What’s next?” Hook | Pirate Ship Room | strider “Obviously. And I doubt it’ll be pleasant.” He spoke flatly, tilting his head as he curiously watched the boy exert all of his energy into moving the gun. He’d expected him to quit the moment the weapon first resisted him, so he had to admit his unanticipated resilience was...entertaining. “No,” he agreed with a small nod, lifting his eyes from the wheels of the gun’s cart as Nico continued. He didn’t know a lot about the demigod, and what he did know could easily be wrong. From what he’d gathered over the years he could presume that the kid had some unique heritage - which would certainly lead to come problems at open sea if his assumption was accurate. “Right,” he muttered with a long pause, “because...?” he trailed off, wanting the other blinker to finish the statement for him so he didn’t vocalize any misinterpretations. At the next question he shrugged, offering the most genuine answer that came to mind: “Anything that doesn’t damage my ship or kill my crew.” If he gave it more thought, he wasn’t sure he had a favorite. Most creatures had plenty of reasons to be avoided - which is what made so many of them worth the payments he hunted them for. He stepped closer as Nico managed to maneuver the gun to the port, lifting an eyebrow as the kid caught his breath. There was a moment of silence after Nico spoke before the captain let out a long chuckle, shaking his head slightly. “I like yer persistence, but I told you, we ain’t firin’ it. You should-“ The pirate abruptly stopped speaking, glancing above them with narrowed eyes. “Listen,” he hissed to the demigod, slowly unsheathing his sword as a second thud could be heard on the deck overhead, followed by a far more subtle creak of foot steps.

| Hector | PIT FIGHT | with Kaladin IN THE PIT | Hector took note of how long it took Kaladin to recover and made a mental note to try to knock him off balance again if he got the chance. It seemed that the both of them were less agile than the previous two who had fought- jumps in the air and high kicks were not featured in this fight. Just two soldiers slugging it out. Hector sidestepped to the left- he was right handed, so it put him in a better position to strike out. He returned a jab with his right hand, once again sacrificing full power for quickness, aiming at Kaladin's face. Anticipating that he would be distracted with blocking or dodging, he moved forwards to ram into the other man with his shoulder- he may have been tall but he was also lanky compared to Hector's broader build, and Hector hoped to knock him down or wind him.

Subtle sounds indeed. Myrnin was highly aware that he sounded like a complete klutz. By human standards, he was fine. By vampire standards, his movements were slow, nosy, and he didn't have even half the grace. So yeah, he was aware. Clothing was nosy regardless, but at least with a bit more vampiric nature to him, he managed to know how to move in it without it sounding off as much. He saw Sol coming and hurriedly dodged to the side, admittedly at a lot slower speed than he usually would have been able to accomplish. As expected of a vampire reduced to human reaction speed, he was late. Not so late that he didn't make it out of the way, but Sol would possibly be able to grab the edge of his shirt.

Hook | Pit Fight | @/shade
“The House always blinks me in with the important things,” he insisted, pointing at her with the top of his flask. He was trying to watch the fight more intently now that he had a side to root for, but Shade easily distracted him every time she spoke. “Aye, he’ll need to quickly as well - ah - there he goes. You do have a point,” he stopped watching the tactical movements of the brawl and instead studied the wardrobe. “They look miserably uncomfortable,” he agreed offhandedly, “It’s not even sacrificed for much; a bit lackluster, the both of them.” He glanced past her as he caught glance of Myrnin getting attacked by some kid. Taking a quick drink he nudged Shade to notice them as well. “Impatient mother[oops]ers.” He commented with a smirk. “Another fifteen there, that kid’s gonna stomp on him.”

That didn’t surprise Kelsier as much as he wished it did. He knew Nico didn’t get enough rest by a long shot, and when he did manage to sleep it wasn’t any more restful, than being awake. Kelsier knew what that was like...during and for months after Hathsin, he’d been the same way. Sleep still wasn’t as easy for him to catch as it seemed to be for others, still didn’t seem to be something that came to him on its own. He liked the night, fortunately, but not all his sleepless nights happened willingly. Sometimes he just couldn’t turn his mind off or stop the racing memories. When he did sleep, he still got nightmares about it. Hathsin in general, yes, but also Mare. Mare, telling him it was alright. Laughing at his quips. Thumping crew members over the head. Mare, beside him, always beside him until the day she wasn’t anymore. It still hurt like a knife to the chest. Her betrayal. He could only guess she’d cut some kind of deal with the Lord Ruler and he’d stabbed her in the back, too. He felt no satisfaction at the thought, only pain. He pulled himself back to the present, smiling at Nico instead. “You’re welcome,” he said easily, leaning back on his hands to look at the sun. Would it set by the time they blinker out? His earlier anger had had time to die down now, and though he still stubbornly held onto it, he was content to stay here for a little while longer. “I’ve never seen a sunset,” he added quietly. “I mean...not without ash blocking it.”

| Eurydice | Blanket Fort Room | With Orpheus | "How? If it's as powerful and cruel as everyone says, why would it listen to you?" Eurydice asked. She wasn't trying to be cruel or dismissive of him personally. It was just that she didn't see how he could change anything. But there was a part of her that wanted to see him do it. "Oh, I see it now." Eurydice answered, tilting her head as she looked out at the blankets. The array of draped sheets did look like a soft little town stretched before them. She went to shrug the blanket off her shoulders, then thought better of it. She let go of it, leaving it draped over her shoulders as she picked up a different one. She let it fall unfolded, looking towards the nearest bare armchair.
