Nico really needed to learn that his disadvantage was at its greatest when he was in the air. Kelsier was simply much, much heavier than him. Still, Nico was strong, stronger than he looked, and he could more than hold his own in this fight. He felt Kelsier grab onto his leg and cursed silently twisting midair to kick at Kelsiers’ hand with his other foot. The pressure released and Nico tucked just quick enough to roll over his shoulder when he landed, getting back up to his feet in mere moments. It seemed Kelsier had successfully adjusted to fighting without powers. Good. That would make the fight more interesting. “You just in this for the theatrics, or what?” Nico teased, aware of the sweat gathering on his brow, aware of how his breath had begun to come in just a little bit harder. They were both doing this at least partially for the show of it. It wasn’t the same down and dirty fight Hook and Shade had. This… this was a test of skill, of seeing how daring one could be without pulling any punches. He supposed they were both relatively dramatic when they had their powers – how could they not translate that to this? He grounded himself once again, getting back in position as he waited to see what Kelsier’s next attack would be.

Kelsier let go instinctively as the kick landed, and he cursed quietly as he pulled back, letting Nico rolled to his feet the same way Kelsier had. They were very different fighters, yes, but they both seemed to know how to save themselves when things went wrong. Good. It would have been a short fight if one of them couldn’t recover, and Kelsier was having way too much fun to want that. He supposed their audience had probably picked favorites by now. Unlike in his own world, Kelsier wasn’t the one who appeared to be at a disadvantage and was holding his own regardless...they were probably rooting for Nico. He grinned. He couldn’t wait to see who had to pay up when he won. And no one could say it had been an easy win now, either. “Please. I think we both know why we’re doing this,” he replied airily, moving to circle Nico once again, eying him as he did. He wasn’t quite out of breath - he’d been in much longer and more intense fights - but he was feeling his lack of pewter pretty heavily now. He was still learning, but he thought he’d mostly gotten the hang of this Allomancy-free style. Good thing Nico didn’t have powers either. Kel was highly aware of how badly this would have gone. “I mean…” he continued, his smile deepening as he stopped, standing tall, his weight held mostly on one foot, an almost lazy look in his eye. “...were we ever going to fight for anything besides victory?” He darted forward, aiming a jab first at Nico’s shoulder, then at his side, hoping to disorient him. He spun again, trying to get behind him and grab both his arms to pin him. Oh

It was clear they were both very used to fighting opponents that theoretically outmatched them. They both took on fights other people said were impossible, and they were both still alive. They had both clearly been knocked down before. It meant they didn’t have to worry about being too rough, about knocking each other over. Although… he highly doubted the fight would be won until one or the other had the other pinned. Falling didn’t count as a win – they both got up too quickly. His eyes narrowed just a little bit as Kelsier began to circle again, and he reacted accordingly. His form, fortunately, hadn’t suffered over the course of the fight. He wasn’t tired yet. The thrill of the fight still ran through him, easing the aches and pains from where Kelsier had struck him, the bruises he was bound to have from falling, even if he picked himself back up. “What?” Nico asked, his tone easy, “You think I’d just give up?” He tried to anticipate Kelsier’s attack, watching the way he leaned, the muscles working as he ran forward. He ducked out of the way, managing to avoid the first jab, though the second one connected. He let out a harsh breath, surprised by the sting, but he recovered quickly enough. “Really, Dad,” he gasped, darting to Kelsier’s left as he attempted to avoid his next strike, “Don’t you know me better than that?” The words were out before he could think about them, and he was so caught up in the fight that he didn’t seem to realize what he had said. He whirled, trying to keep Kelsier in front of him instead of… well, whatever the Mistborn had been trying to do. His eyes were wild, his smile still just as free.

Scarlet | Living Room 4.0 | strider
Zuko's question about turtleducks got her thinking. She wasn't sure if she'd ever heard of such creatures. "I know there's normal turtles and ducks. I'm not sure I've ever heard about turtleducks, maybe they're rare. What do they look like?" Scarlet asked curiously before continuing with even more interest as another thought popped into her mind. "Are they your favorite animal?" She was very interested to learn about this guy. Originally the Novakid hadn't expected their conversation to get this far. Zuko had seemed so closed off but now... it seems her curious and open nature hadn't irritated the boy that much. In fact, he seemed to open up more and more. That point was once again proven as he spoke of his family's beachhouse. "Huh. So your family has multiple homes? That's cool. I only grew up in the little house my parents lived in. Though I guess I can make my home anywhere I like now!" Scarlet exclaimed. So many possibilities and adventures. Could she even decide on just one place to call home? She looked back over to Zuko and noticed that his expression took on a more stern expression again. Scarlet observed him almost expectantly, inviting him to talk about it more. "I hope you can go back soon then. I'm sure the place must be quite lovely, there's barely anything that's more calming than watching the ocean waves on a nice beach day." She immediately jumped on the topic of ships. Every new detail about the boy got her more interested in getting to know him. "Are you a captain as well? With your own crew and everything?" she didn't think that he'd be living on a ship as well, it was a surprising fact. His soft-spoken sincerity about her brother almost shocked the Novakid. She stared at him, silent for just a moment and processed it. He seemed to try really hard to hold a pleasant conversation. It made her fear a little that she might somehow ruin it. "Hah! You have no idea how many people have told me that finding my brother is impossible. But... thanks." Hearing his encouragement really meant something to her. "We seem to have a lot in common for living in completely different worlds. As far as I can tell at least. It's nice" she spoke genuinely. The Novakid couldn't have talks like these with her crew. And even if Zuko only partially understood her, she welcomed it all the same. Scarlet tilted her head slightly as he seemed to ponder over fire actually glowing as well. "Is that... surprising to you?" He looked thoughtful again, this time she wanted to know what was on his mind.

(I gotta say I thought I might regret blinking in Zuko when he was a bit younger than canon, but older Zuko likely wouldn’t have bonded like this with Scarlet and tbh this is… giving me so much serotonin) “Normal turtles? Ducks?” Zuko repeated, brow creasing. “There are turtle crabs. And lion turtles. I’ve never heard of just… a turtle.” Maybe his world was just… different than the planet Scarlet had grown up with. “Turtleducks are… well, they’re sort of fuzzy, covered with feathers, and they paddle around on webbed feet, but they have a shell that they can retreat into when they get scared.” Sometimes he wished he had a shell like they did – it would make it easier to bear the world, sometimes. But… no. He wasn’t a coward. He didn’t need to hide like that. His jaw set, but his expression softened again at the expression. “Yeah,” he admitted softly, staring down at his lap. “They’re my favorites.” It was odd, having someone to talk to who actually seemed to care about his answers. Who wasn’t looking at the scar, who didn’t seem to see him as the banished prince or the less than perfect heir. Was this what it was like to be normal? Zuko still wanted to go home, he still wanted to earn his honor back, but… well, he wouldn’t mind the ability to have a few more conversations like this. “Oh,” he murmured, frowning a little. He hadn’t considered that most people probably only had one home. “Yeah…” would Scarlet’s approach to the conversation change if he told her why they had multiple homes? That they needed to, for diplomatic purposes? That his father was the Firelord? Would she even know what the Firelord was? There was so much he didn’t understand about where she was from, and it seemed there was plenty that she didn’t know about his world either. “I’d like to go back,” he added after a long moment, deciding to leave it at that. “We used to play beach volleyball,” he added, trying to match her positive attitude, even if there were things he couldn’t mention. “Oh… no, I’m not technically the captain,” he replied, staring at the ground for a long moment. “The captain takes me where I want to go, though. So I can capture the Avatar.” He hadn’t stopped to consider that the captain might not be a fan of having to drag him around the world on a wild goose chase. He had caught the way the captain glared at him, but he hadn’t given it much thought. Zuko hesitated for a moment, grateful that he seemed to have said the right thing about Scarlet’s brother. It made him feel… well, like he had done something right. He gave a tiny smile, beginning to relax just a little bit more. “It is nice,” he echoed a little bit uncertainly. He wasn’t trying to hide his scar anymore. He was just comfortable in a way he hadn’t really ever felt in conversation before. Scarlet seemed to handle the things that were upsetting to him with far more grace than anyone in his world ever had. “I’ve never thought about the fact that it glows,” he considered, letting the fire bloom in his hand for just a moment. “If you say it like that… it seems like a tool. Like… like light. Not just a weapon.”

Pit Fight | vibin w hook
The theatrics of the fight going on were something Shade could definitely appreciate, and another reason she found sparring like this to be so genuinely entertaining. Her line of work never really yielded an opportunity for anything beyond getting things done as quickly as one could to avoid dying themselves. Fighting aside, Hook drinking was also incredibly amusing and she smirked, though made no comment on it and instead looked over at him and responded, "I think I have.... Though its a bit foggy." She watched his expression for a moment before looking back at the two competitors occupying the ring, humming quietly as she mulled over his next statement and raised her own eyebrows thoughtfully. "Seems like most here aren't, can't really blame him for that. I think personally I'd need to interact with him more to gauge him better besides your encounters with him, which...." she looked back over at him with half a smirk, "I assume has been more than just that time?" There was a bit of tease in her tone, but she genuinely meant no malice and hoped perhaps he'd take the opportunity to elaborate more on his experiences with the fellow. Eeeveeenn if most of his interactions with others here were negative in nature to a ... unrealistic for most people degree... there was still information to be gleaned from it, she figured.

| Hector | PIT FIGHT | Spectating | Hector gave Kaladin a careful look, trying to guess what he could about the other blinker- young, younger than him. He seemed to carry responsibility on his shoulders. And a tentativeness, though that was easily explainable with the novelty of blinking and a new system- or lack thereof- of interaction. Hector narrowed his eyes at Kaladin's explanation. He couldn't claim to have a fairer world, necessarily. He had been born into power and while he hoped that he was doing enough to earn that, to pay back the responsibility, he couldn't quite call it fair. But Kaladin's disbelief at being able to spar, to interact freely with others was surprising. "I've never heard of a system quite like that before." Hector answered truthfully. "Yes- let's grab a spot when these two finish." He bounced on the balls of his feet once in eagerness, though he wasn't particularly light footed. Tall and broad, his fighting style was probably a bit more solid. He took in Kaladin's build, curious as to how he would fight. You could tell a lot about a person by that.

Hook kept his brow raised as he watched the fighters in the ring, tapping his index finger to his flask absently as he considered Shade’s response. He glanced towards her innocently when she prompted him for more information. “I ain’t the one picking’ the fight here - you were there the first time I’d ever even seen him.” He took another swig between his words, giving a disinterested shrug. He realized that he could’ve left it there, but he figured it was best to be honest about what conflicts he got wrapped into nowadays. “The House put us at it sometime after, seemed like the bastard just didn’ know how things worked.” He chuckled to himself at that, hastily averting his gaze back to the ring to be certain he didn’t miss the ending.

It was interesting, how Gemmel’s words still were the ones Kelsier heard when he fell. His mentor’s obvious disdain was clear in the Mistborn’s head, his voice as he shook his head, snorting at Kelsier’s dramatic moves, at his flair. And of course, at his creepy smiles. He supposed they had looked unnatural at first. There was a reason for that. They had been unnatural, at first. An attempt to prove he could still smile. They’d had no place in a world where Mare didn’t exist, and Kelsier had given them anyway, because he refused to just accept that. Knew she would have kicked his ass for giving up. They’d both taken a lot of hits in this fight, and Kel’s side hurt where Nico had landed his first jab. It was going to leave a bruise, he knew. He didn’t care. “Sorry. What was that?” He asked innocently, expression devious. “Did you say you were giving up? Because you know you can’t win? Thought so.” He tried to lean into the attack, tried to let his hand connect even as Nico dodged. Really, Dad. The words went through him like an electric shock, and suddenly he was off balance, his attack going wide. He missed completely, stumbling as he did, almost falling as his feet slid in the sand. He stared at Nico, forgetting that he was in the middle of a fight completely. If this had been a serious fight, he’d be dead where he stood. Instinct failed him and surprise replaced the intense look in his hazel eyes. He looked like he’d just been tased. A thousand thoughts and questions burned in his head. He failed to grab onto any of them. He was only off balance and in shock for a couple moments, but knowing Nico….

Smiling was as strange to Nico now as it had been to Kelsier after Hathsin. Something about being around Kelsier, about letting himself be free and wild, letting himself fight like this… the smile came more easily. It was like Kelsier’s was contagious. Nico rolled his eyes in response to Kelsier’s taunts, preparing to duck out of the way of whatever the next attack was. He was ready, he was learning how Kelsier fought, what moves he was inclined to use against Nico, what Nico would have to use to try to use Kelsier’s weight and speed against him. His eyes narrowed a little bit as he waited. The attack didn’t come. Nico didn’t think, didn’t look to see why Kelsier look startled, just moved forward and kicked out to sweep Kelsier’s legs out from under him. He was breathing hard at the effort as he slid past, aiming at the back of Kelsier’s knees to bring him down. He crowed triumphantly, scrambling up to his feet in time to place his knee on Kelsier’s chest, successfully pinning him down. “I win!” he gasped, sounding actually surprised by that. It hadn’t been a sure thing, that was for certain. It had been a hard fight, but incredibly worth it. He didn’t know what had thrown Kelsier so off balance at the last moment, but part of the fight was taking advantage of whatever came his way. He didn’t think Kelsier had thrown the fight purposefully. Another thing they needed to talk about… eventually. Not now, though. He pushed the thought out of the way, instead standing up and offering Kelsier a hand up. He didn’t realize what he had said. He didn’t realize how much more pressing that conversation was.

“Then I’m glad,” Kaladin replied honestly, holding Hector’s gaze for a long moment. “There are, of course, some honorable lighteyes, but they’re few and far between. The ones that treat the darkeyes that work for them well, that give them a fair shot to prove themselves… those are the good ones. But there aren’t very many like that.” His jaw clenched a little as he said it, but he forced the expression away a moment later. He might have been a little bit more doubtful about Hector had he known his status in his world, but as it was… he respected him. And he was grateful to him, for telling him how the House worked. A smile flitted across Kaladin’s face for just a moment as Hector agreed to spar. He took a look at the other man for a long moment, trying to determine how he might fight. They were both muscular, but that came from being part of an army. It was difficult to tell how a man would fight just from that. A lot had to do with how they were trained. If Kaladin knew what weapons Hector usually used… well. He supposed he would find out how Hector fought soon enough. It looked like the battle in the pit was drawing to a close.

| Hector | PIT FIGHT | Hector nodded, taking in Kaladin's explanation of his world. He almost wanted to ask what war Kaladin was fighting in, but at the clench of his jaw he decided to leave it for now. "A spar, of course." Hector said, just to confirm. "I have my own war to go back to where the fighting's real enough, as I'm sure you do as well. Hector watched as the fight finished up, Kelsier startling at something and Nico seizing the opportunity. While he'd initially thought Nico would win, the course of the fight gave him his doubts. Kelsier matched his skill. In truth, Hector had been impressed with both of their fighting. Light and quick, with impressive reaction time.

Shade | Pit Fight
"I know, I know," she chuckled quietly. Seemed like most of the fights he got into were... mostly... not his fault in some way or another. Weather or not that was simply because she was hearing about it from his perception remained to be seen, although knowing him she was confident there was definitely some merit to it. "Hmm... seems like hw knows how things work a bit better now. Or maybe hes just talked himself into a sense of security," Shade muttered back, still smirking slightly at how oddly relatable the sentiment was, even if it wasn't the case with Kelsier. Seeing the blond fellow stop short and be so suddenly defeated was a bit shocking after how even the fight had been prior, not that she was really surprised Nico had won, but still; seemed like he'd been going strong until a moment ago. A broader grin split her lips and she snickered to herself. "Looks like I'll be keeping my left shoe, for now."

Kelsier went down fast, the blow to his knees effectively knocking him down, his expression startled as he found himself on the ground, Nico’s knee pinning him. He hadn’t thrown the fight on purpose, he wouldn’t have done that, he knew Nico wouldn’t have thanked him for it. Being underestimated got old eventually, as they both knew all too well. He blinked at Nico, and he wasn’t sure whether he was more shocked to find himself pinned or more shocked about what he’d just heard. Actually...that was easy. What he’d heard was more surprising by far. Any other kid, and Kelsier would have been very annoyed to have lost. Nico, though...he wasn’t annoyed. He was proud, impressed, and not surprised at all. Because Nico had killed an Inquisitor once, Nico was not someone Kelsier felt bad for losing to. He stared up at Nico, his expression still bright with shock, the playful intensity of his eyes faded now. Had Nico said it just to throw him off? No...that didn’t make any sense. Kelsier didn’t believe that for a minute. So it had been an accident. Or...maybe the kid of ‘accident’ Kelsier’s slip of the tongue had been. Was that possible? Was it possible that Nico could…? Kel’s mind was spinning with possibilities and he didn’t know how to follow any of them. He shoved it back, determined not to think about it right now, not when there was an audience. The Mistborn finally smiled, though there was still a deeply startled look in his eye. “Congratulations,” he said, letting his muscles relax as he allowed the fight to end. “Care to let me up?”

Nico stood back up, face flushed and expression genuine. He wouldn’t have said anything like that to throw Kelsier off. He wouldn’t have said anything like that at all, if he had been thinking. He still hadn’t quite processed that he’d said anything out of the ordinary. He was still too caught up in the slowly dying thrill of the fight. He tilted his head a little bit, noting the change in Kelsier’s expression. He didn’t quite know why it had happened – perhaps Kelsier was just disheartened to have lost. It had been a good fight, an evenly matched one… it could have gone on for much, much longer if Kelsier hadn’t been distracted by something. It could have gone on for much longer if they’d had powers and weapons. They’d have to try again when they were both at their most powerful. This… this had just been a good trial run. He dusted himself off, waiting on Kelsier to get up before they moved back to where they had been standing before. It had been a long time since he’d fought an opponent as skilled as he was. It felt… good. He was still finding it hard to shake the smile from his face, though another glance at Kelsier told him they would need to talk. Soon. His own smile faded and he moved to grab his jacket from where he had thrown it. He grabbed Kelsier’s mistcloak while he was at it, slinging it over his shoulder so it wouldn’t trail too much on the ground. “Here,” he murmured once he got close enough to Kelsier, passing the mistcloak over. He looked up, trying to meet Kelsier’s gaze. He didn’t know what was wrong. If he had… well, if he had, he may have turned bright red and turned the other direction. He wasn’t prepared to deal with the nebulous thing between them when tere was plenty in his world to worry about already.

| Hector | PIT FIGHT | "Agreed." Hector answered. He, too, had killed too many people in a war that didn't need to be fought. He had no desire to take life when he wasn't forced to. "Well, the obvious honorable things- no below the belt, going for the eyes... You've done this before, right?" Hector asked, though it was hardly asking, mostly confirming. Of course a soldier would have sparred before.

Kaladin nodded. Those were all reasonable things. The sorts of things that would make it an even battle while maintaining both honor and dignity. The more time he spent around Hector, the more he found he liked him. “Only with my men and only to practice,” he replied after a moment, shifting a little bit. “Mostly with spears, but sometimes unarmed. Not while I was training, but… since I got my own squad, they have to know how to fight if disarmed.” Hector hadn’t asked for that level of detail. Kaladin hoped he didn’t mind getting it anyway. “Shall we?” he asked, tilting his head once the pit was emptied.

Kelsier was still half in the thrill of the fight himself, but he’d been shaken partially out of it by Nico’s words. He didn’t think it remotely possible that Nico would have said that to throw him off balance. He could tell, he could tell that Nico didn’t even realize he’d said it, looking into the kid’s face, searching his eyes. He didn’t realize. The fight would probably have gone on for longer, true, but they would have other opportunities. They would get to try this again, Kelsier was confident about that. If Nico wanted to again, that was. Kel had a feeling he would...he had seen the look on his face, and it matched Kelsier’s own wild smile. He pushed himself to his feet, pushing the words that had cost him the fight away. Or trying to. He didn’t succeed. He also couldn’t help the glow of happiness inside of him at the thought. He was trying to pretend it was possible he hadn’t meant what he’d said in that other room, but it was becoming more and more obvious that he had meant it completely. That he would have a hard time taking it back, if he didn’t want to lie. He followed Nico out of the ring, and for once he wasn’t paying attention to the crowd, seeing what they thought of him. For once his mid was far from the fact that he’d lost, and focused on Nico instead. He really needed to stop thinking about this… “Thanks,” he replied, accepting the mistcloak and pulling it back on. He met Nico’s eyes for a moment and let himself smile, shoving the thoughts away as hard as he could. “That was fun,” he added, herding his tone back to the excitement they’d just had. It had been fun, after all.

Nico grinned again, though his smile didn’t last quite as long now that there was no fight to fuel it. He glanced over at some of the others, dipping his head a little at Shade and Hook. Not so much as a bow as to just… acknowledge them, acknowledge he had seen their fight… this was a fun room. Surely the others around him were having fun as well – although Enjolras looked at least a little bit uncomfortable. He couldn’t help but wonder why the House had chosen to blink him in – Nico wasn’t sure he had ever seen him in a fight. He didn’t doubt he could hold his own, but he couldn’t see him initiating a friendly spar with any of the other blinkers. Then again, it wasn’t as though Percival and Sherlock’s spar had been friendly. As he stepped all the way out of the ring, he blinked. The pain seemed to disappear – kind of the House to heal them between spars. It was a near certain sign that it was encouraging to challenge more than one person. Nico cast a nervous glance at Hook, then one at Kelsier. He wouldn’t have been terribly surprised if Kelsier decided to challenge Hook to a less than friendly spar… “It was fun,” he agreed, glancing back at Kelsier as he shrugged his own jacket back on. He shoved his hands in his pockets, making his way towards where he had been standing to watch before. Should he ask? Would that be invading Kelsier’s privacy? He swallowed, uncertain how this was meant to go. He had burnt off some of the tension his world had created, but he had someone managed to create even more tension here. Were the two of them really going to end up talking here? At least Kelsier was smiling now. Maybe that was a sign they could keep putting it off…

| Hector | PIT FIGHT | with Kaladin IN THE PIT | Hector nodded. What Kaladin said sounded reasonable. And he was glad that Kaladin had some experience. He didn't want to just end up batting around a young, unexperienced soldier. He gave a nod of approval. "Your own squad? How long?" Hector placed his hand on the top rope and jumped over, his feet scuffing up the dust as he landed. It was brighter in the ring with the single light directly overhead. The crowd of blinkers was harder to see. He knew once the fight started it would be just him and Kaladin in his mind. He smelled dust like a battlefield and he felt that moment of anticipation before the fight.

Kelsier didn’t pay Shade and Hook much attention as he left the ring, the pain fading away to nothing as he did. Nice of the House. He shook his head a little, coming to the same conclusion as Nico had, that they were supposed to fight more than one person. Well...Kelsier was more than willing to go again. With Nico or anyone else. Might be fun to see if he could humiliate Hook, after all...then again, Myrnin was also here. It would be interesting to see if he could beat the vampire in a fight with no powers. Maybe he just wanted to try his luck with everyone here. He did notice Sol...he frowned a little, eyeing her for a long moment. Hopefully she wouldn’t get dragged into a fight. Not that he was underestimating her, she’d nearly taken his finger, but still. She seemed to rely on intimidation more than anything. He caught the glance between himself and Hook, and he couldn’t help smiling a little. Okay, so he hadn’t talked to Nico about his grudge against Hook...was that another thing they needed to talk about? Really? As though they didn’t have plenty of those already...they didn’t need more things. They really didn’t. Kelsier joined the demigod, standing where he’d been before it had been their turn to spar, he looked up when guessed that more people would be fighting soon enough, and if he wanted to challenge anyone else, he’d have to do it in a little while. He was content to stay where he was for the moment, anyway. He glanced at Nico, noting his expression. They...needed to talk even more urgently now. How could Kelsier tell Nico what he’d said? He didn’t know if he could...had anyone else heard? No one had reacted. Maybe no one had been close enough to hear. He also thought he deserved a rematch. Not that he was about to say that just yet.

“About a year now,” Kaladin replied, puffing up his chest just a little bit. “I’m the youngest squad leader in Amaram’s army. And my squad’s survived the longest. They’re good men. I’m trying to get them transferred to a war that’s worth fighting.” There was the smallest glow of pride in his eye as he said it. The he passed into the pit and his expression changed. This was still friendly, of course, but his expression was far more serious. He wasn’t going to just let Hector win. Which meant he had to figure out how he fought pretty quickly. He steadied himself, assuming the stance he was used to. It worked best for spears, but… he supposed it would do him well here, too. It meant nobody could just push him over. He eyed Hector, waiting for him to make the first move. Normally he did that to judge his men’s tactics, to judge how they approached for blows, to critique them. Here, though, he just wanted to get a taste for Hector’s style.

| Hector | PIT FIGHT | with Kaladin IN THE PIT |
In his own world, Hector was fighting for what he dearly loved- his country, his family, his people. It was what gave strength to his limbs and what kept the blood pumping through his heart. Although he hadn't wished to start the war, and indeed, remained deeply angry with his brother Paris for starting it, losing the war meant losing everything he held dear. He couldn't imagine fighting just to fight. "Of course they're good men. They have a good leader. I hope you succeed in your goal." Hector readied himself and dropped into a fighting stance as well, well balanced, solid. He saw how Kaladin stood- as a spear fighter himself, he recognized it. He approached quickly, hoping to give Kaladin little time to react as he aimed a punch at the man's torso.

Was there anyone here Nico would fight? He caught sight of Myrnin, which might be fun. He didn’t know how well Myrnin would fare without vampire powers, though. Maybe he’d let someone else have a go at Myrnin. He was content to just watch people for a while. He recognized Hector, but his opponent was a stranger. That might be interesting to see – he knew Hector was known as a great soldier. He’d be surprised if the stranger could beat him. It would be fun to see Sol fight, Nico figured. Perhaps it was just because he had a habit of rooting for the people that nobody thought could win. He didn’t know if she’d actually go up against Myrnin, but that was what it was looking like… yeah, he’d enjoy watching that fight go down. The nice thing about the room was it seemed as though nobody could get seriously hurt. It seemed like a good place to get pent up emotions out. Gods knew Nico had plenty of those, and the fight had made him forget about many of them for a while. Many. But not all. He sighed, looking over at Kelsier. What was he even supposed to say? ‘Yeah, I wanna be your son but I’m probably not gonna survive the next two weeks because I decided I was expendable and everyone else agreed with me?’ Yeah no, that wasn’t going to go over well. He didn’t have enough time left to have this conversation. As much as it hurt, it was probably better if Kelsier hadn’t meant what he said at all. Better than Nico telling him he was okay with it and then telling him his life was running out like sand in an hourglass. Even Nico hadn’t had enough time to process what, exactly, he was in the middle of promising to do. “You hesitated,” he managed instead, pointedly looking at the fighters instead of Kelsier. “Why?”

</div> Myrnin | Fighty fight | <Raintalon>Slightly interested, Myrnin looked at Sol with a puzzled expression. Finally, what he said was, "How many cheese crackers do you have?" He'd gotten the memo that this room didn't allow things like super strength. He didn't have to deal with human reflexes for long at least, that was one consolation, though he was decently sure that he would have a slower response time. So long as his heart didn't suddenly start beating again, he'd probably stay mostly sane with this set-up. Even still, there was Sol's little dance. "I have no idea what I'm betting in return, but if that's the goal you want to set, I don't see an issue." Said the man who was used to breaking ribs of people who could heal within a couple hours. That was fine.

That was what Kaladin wanted for himself and his men. They were fighting border skirmishes for men who thought they were expendable. Amaram did his best – he tried to keep his promises – and he seemed fair to his men, but his battles were pointless. Kaladin wanted to be fighting for Alethkar itself. To protect it from the Parshendi, to fight to avenge the death of a king, the most honorable of any lighteyes Kaladin had ever heard of. Yes… that was the war that mattered. The one Kaladin would feel proud leading men into. “Thank you,” he returned earnestly, a trace of a smile on his lips. The distance between them was closed quickly, with Kaladin dodging Hector’s strike so it glanced off his side instead of hitting him straight on. He aimed two solid blows at Hector – one at his right shoulder and one at his right side, just underneath the first blow. He knew he wasn’t as nimble as the pair that had just fought, but he did know how to get a few blows in.

| Hector | PIT FIGHT | with Kaladin IN THE PIT | Kaladin dodged, Hector's punch glancing off his side instead of landing, and he turned as quickly as he could as Kaladin returned a pair of blows. He managed to dodge the first fully but not the second, feeling Kaladin's fist glance off his side with just enough contact to smart. With Kaladin reaching for his right he punched with his left, aiming for Kaladin's right shoulder.
