No prior story knowledge required, you'll learn the lore alongside your character
About the House- Generally, the interior hallways look like they come from a derelict farmhouse, with wood paneled walls and green carpeted floors in various stages of disrepair. Ominous stains occasionally patch the walls and floor, leaving everyone to wonder what exactly was spilled there. - The rooms beyond the hallway doors have no rhyme or reason, one can be filled with ping-pong balls while another is an entire indoor forest. Some are dangerous, some are just strange, and some are deathtraps. - The halls and the living room are the only known safe areas, and even those are occasionally compromised. -The House is virtually indestructible. Walls and doors may seem to be damaged, but turn your back for a moment and they'll return to their previous state. - All characters can understand each other no matter what their native language is. - Mechanical/electrical weapons or tools will either not blink in with the character or cease to work entirely. Robotic visitors and cyborgs seem to be the only exception.... - Anything taken from its owner will still return to it's original world when the owner blinks out, including souls. - It is extremely rare to find the same room a second time after the halls shift. 'World rooms,' where you actually visit another character's world, are also very rare
Rules to Get You Started
- Follow all Forum rules- Use some form of parenthesis for ooc chat ( ) [ ] { } etc - You may claim up to three characters but you can only rp two at a time. - You are required to wait one week before switching a character - Characters may be from anything within forum rules and must be kept PG-13 no matter where they are from - Only one person may rp a given character at a time, duplicates will unravel the fabric of time and we'll all cease to exist - Try not to powerplay or godmod, even if your character is extremely powerful. - If you disappear for 5 hours or more, your character is considered 'blinked' and the story will move on without them, unless stated otherwise [time increments will be updated based on thread activity] SEE BELOW - Do not break the fourth wall while in character, we're running out of ducktape -There is no such thing as murphy's law, no matter what anyone says -Members who have been added to the front may be removed if they disappear for longer than two weeks without giving notice. You might get pinged, you might not, we will not come looking for you. -If you develop a noticeable cycle of rejoining and then disappearing for months before showing up again, you will not be allowed to rejoin -This rp can be chaotic at times, so if you feel left out, feel free to catch something on fire -Do not plagiarize any aspect of the Paradox House
Rules that apply to rare situations or odd quirks will be explained if they become relevant during rp. If you have any questions, just ask!
--Due to irl commitments with a majority of members, [slow rp] has been temporarily instated.--
Characters will not passively blink out unless a significant amount of progress has been made in their respective room. If you know you will be gone for a day+ please be courteous and blink your character out yourself.

The Archive A history of adventures had by the characters of the Paradox House The Constant These areas do not change and are considered part of the core structure of the house.
The Living Room - The original spawn point for the first visitors, there are no traps or enchantments here. The room is furnished simply with a wooden table and chairs, a couch, and a few bookshelves. Strangely enough, the books are unmarked and blank inside. The walls are dark paneled wood and the floor is hardwood, giving the place an old-world feel.
The Hallways - Out the single entrance to the living room lies the hallway, a maze of corridors and stairs lined with closed doors. The walls are bare, with only the occasional mirror or gas light proving any variance. Like the living room, the walls are paneled wood, but here the wooden floor is mostly covered by a ragged and graying carpet, once a shade of forest green. Mysterious stains, burn marks, scratches, and all manner of disrepair give the place a derelict and haunted feeling.
The Things That Came Before
Rooms and events predating the temporal shift [July 2014 - Aug 2016]
The Pit- No floor here, jumping into it will send you back into the hallway
Popcorn Room- A good source of snacks, for now...
Mirror Maze- Dangerous, the door disappears upon entry, and some of the mirrors are portals to the ceiling of the Pit room
Decipti-toys- Darling little plush animals lay around on the floor. When disturbed, they become giant mechanical beasts with a thirst for blood
Fear Room- Walls lined with televisions show you your worst fear or memory. Most have been smashed by now. Dangerous, the door disappears upon entry
Stairway- The only exit from the Fear Room, a simple wooden staircase leads down into darkness and eventually into the Acid Parkour
-Acid Parkour- A floor covered in bubbling acid, the only way across is a rope and platform skill course.
EVENT: World Rooms- each of the rooms took you into a twisted version of one visitor's reality. The only way to escape was to fight the battle and enemies presented, upon victory you were returned to the Living Room
Body Swap- Entering this room switches you with whoever is nearby
Bug Room- A seething mass of creepy-crawlies
Kitchen- this room proves that most accident do happen in the kitchen
Iron Maze- Very dangerous, the metal walls are impenetrable and loaded with deadly traps of all kinds
Disco of Death- This room will do its best to make sure you dance till you drop (and never get up again)
Sock Room- Not too dangerous, this room just fills up with socks, then dumps you back into the living room
Mirrored Hallway- Appears to be the normal hall, but all the doors are locked. In reality it is the reflection of the real hallway
Clone Room- Only active once, this room spawned an evil version of each person who entered. Extremely dangerous, there were casualties here
Garden- A combination of flora and fauna from the various dimensions. Almost seemed like an apology for the life lost in the Clone room
Ball Pit- Ever wonder what happened to the ball pits at the indoor play-places? The Paradox house stole them
Indoor theater- A mockery of a cheap theater, complete with sticky floors and hard seats. Plays odd clips from the lives of the guests
Turkeys galore- breaking open the single egg unleashes a hoard of hive-minded turkeys, docile until you try to attack them
Mist Room- A room with a net for a floor and ledges along the walls, fills with poisonous gas. The only way out is up!
EVENT: The Paradox Rift- A tear in the fabric of time, characters on both sides must work together to seal it! (500 page celebration)
Broken Translator- It's all greek to.. well... everyone. oops
Shilo's world- Four years into the future, Shilo has a baby and a dangerous mission. Luckily the others are there to help!
Dodgeball Room- It's Red vs Blue
EVENT: Christmas Lodge 2014- For a while, everyone blinked into a rustic lodge decorated for the holidays
Stone Garden- The statues here are more than they appear
Bounce Room- The whole room seems to be one of those giant bouncy castles
Playroom- Everyone is transformed into much younger versions of themselves, can they escape using the genius of children?
Love at first sight- So tell us, is it more awkward to see a friend first, or a mirror?
Tiles- A room who's surface is covered completely in pressure plate tiles. Pressing one spawns something completely random, from dozens of spoons raining on your head to a carnivorous rubber chicken.
Roller Derby- Everyone gets wheels! Whether they can actually skate or not is a different story
Dye Room- Giant vats of liquid fill an industrial warehouse, you don't know what color it is until you fall in.
Birds of a Feather- Everyone becomes an avian version of themselves, and the only way to escape the thing in the forest is straight up
Marshmallows!- A cylindrical room with metal walls that slowly fills with marshmallows. Hope someone brought grahamcrackers and chocolate!
Mermaid Aquarium- Half of everyone on dry land watching in shock while the other half swims around trying to use their new aquatic abilities.
Starry Night- A beautiful grassy hillside with a perfect view of the stars and the peaceful, candlelit lake. Surely nothing will go wrong here...
Anti-Gravity Room- There is no gravity here, and be careful not to be blinded by passing stars!
Arctic Blast- Things go south when the Starry Night room suddenly gets snowed in
Acid Ocean- An ocean of boiling acid with only a rapidly disintegrating rowboat and path of floating logs to get you to safety
Ink Room- Accessed via twisty slide from the Acid Ocean room, this one is a tall room with smooth metal platforms to get you to the top and the exit. The only issue is that everything is coated in slippery ink.
Auto Carwash!- Lots of fun when inside of a car, not so much when it is only you facing the spinning brushes of doom
Mechanical Spiders- A room full of huge robot spiders and their wiry webs. And you thought normal ones were scary
Super Happy Fun Land!!1!- Everything appears as if drawn by a kid with a new box of crayons, accompanied by happy music, the sound of children laughing, and a severe case of the creeps.
Witch Battle- Yuma appeared in her witch form, intent on destroying everything and everyone. She managed to kill Ness before finally being destroyed herself.
The Graveyard- Yuma and Ness's final resting place. Peaceful, until you realize that everyone who has ever died in the house has a gravestone there, even the ones who returned to life.
Wind Turbine- A smooth, spherical tunnel leading straight into the spinning blades
Haunted House- A haunted house within a House already trying to mess with you. This should be... fun.
Treasure Room- Filled with piles of gold and anything else a king might desire. Gets a little toasty after a while, though.
Amplifier Room- Causes everyone with supernatural abilities to lose every bit of control they might have over their powers. 'Death' is literally the only way to escape this room.
Escalator/Bagel Storm Room- Exactly what it sounds like, all the characters are stuck on an ever-descending escalator while bagels rain from above.
The Ballroom- An elegant manor gilded in gold, with music and fancy appetizers for the guests. Formal clothing is a must, much to the chagrin of some.
Black Friday- A parking lot full of creatures frantic to get the best deal. Don't let them in the store!
David's World- The group found themselves in David's homeworld, or is it Arceus'?? EVENT: Christmas Lodge 2015- The House has once again become (been replaced?) by a festive winter lodge. Someone get the hot chocolate!
Snow Monster Room- A vast snowy landscape inhabited by a giant, irritable snow creature. Not too hard to beat, until you realize it simply multiplies itself every time it 'dies'
Pie Room- Cherry, Apple, Peach, Chocolate, 3.145 92 653... Wait
Ants in the Kitchen- Shrunk down to the size of ants or dropped into a sink the size of a lake? Either way, it's a long walk to the door.
EVENT: Kaia's and Shilo's [permanent] deaths- shocking and heartbreaking moments for everyone
Desert Wildfire Room- A scorching desert, so hot that even the cactus have caught on fire and... come to life?
Rubber Duck Room- A lake full of giant rubber duck boats and little duck bath toys.
Pirate Room- Trapped on a ship about to be raided by Skeleton Pirates, will you fight for your crewmates or be sent to Davy Jone's locker?
The Pocky Game- Small chocolate sticks, a group of practical strangers, what could be more fun?
EVENT: The Paradox World- The House has been destroyed.... or has it? With only one clue to go on and a sinister force lurking in the shadows, this might be the end (2000 page plot)
Moon Landing- One small step for House-kind
Pillow Fort- A child's dream come true! Be careful not to knock it down.
Fireworks Room-The characters find themselves in a huge tailgate party on the fourth of July. It becomes harder to blend in when the fireworks show malfunctions!
EVENT: A tale of Two Houses- The Paradox House has been split in two, with people trapped on either side. Can the ones left behind make the jump before the mimic caves in around them? (WCF Farewell plot 2016)
The Things That Came After Rooms and events in the new TPH [Aug 2016- present]
[ previous history currently under translation]
EVENT: Villains Night- The only people blinking in are malicious, sadistic, and downright insane. What happens when you throw them all in a candy shop with screaming children?
A Hairy Situation- The hair on everyone's head is reaching Rapunzel-esque lengths at an alarming rate.
Space Station- Houston, we have so many problems...
Spice Room- Just in case you hadn't felt your lungs catch on fire recently, here is a room full of the hottest spices imaginable.
Reflection Room- A room full of mirrors, where your reflection seems to have a mind of it's own.
Paintball Arena- Camo uniforms, air-powered paintguns, and a whole lot of brightly colored spots
Ancient Temple- Overgrown and slightly musty, this shrine to unknown idols is anything but safe.
Butterfly Garden- Stretching out in front of the temple is a beautiful landscape covered in butterflies. Accessed from a door on the opposite side of the hallway.
EVENT: At Summer's End- The neighborhood kids spend their last week of summer discovering their true identities and the real purpose of that dark mansion in the woods.
The Arena- Placed into a gladiator-style deathmatch, the question isn't who will win, but who will survive.
Animal Room- Everyone unfortunate enough to blink in becomes some kind of animal. Fleas, anyone?
Beach Cookout- A sunny summer day on a sandy island beach. Swim wear is required.

Snapshots Memorable moments from both in and out of character Sad Times™ "Why are they asleep?" Flandre breathed, voice small and barely above a whisper. She knew very well that they were dead, but she didn't want to admit it to herself. Enjolras glanced at the hero's card. The house was perhaps a blessing in disguise, if Neb hadn't blinked, she and any memory of her would vanish. But her, they would all remember her. Her memory would be brought across the galaxies and span universes. More than anyone could hope for on their own. The assassin hesitated for a second and nodded. How...how had she come across such amazing friends? In the moments she knew were her last, they stood by her, some how managing to come from different worlds and times... That was when she realized the House was both cruel and kind. Cruel by pulling people from their own times and worlds, kind for letting them meet each other and become the closest of friends, cruel for making everyone witness the deaths of said friends, kind for letting them be by their sides as their world faded to nothing... It was a vicious cycle of grief and joy, but it was perfection in the end. "Right let's go," her voice broke slightly with emotion that she was trying to hide and she turned away before anyone could see the tears threatening. She started for the door once more, leaving the cabin behind as she entered into the dark forest.
Good Times™(/cries i have another to add to my nickname list xD hii) ✵-- (Yeah, I think Shilo would wear wombat boots but better ask Night) ✵-- Nico stepped forwards firmly, teeth gritted. "We are not killing them," he growled at Hook, voice dangerously low, eyes FLASHMOB. "We can get them to reveal what they are hiding, but believe me when I tell you killing them will not accomplish anything," (i'm sorry i can't what) ✵-- (I am going to murder autocorrect if I don't die laughing first) ✵-- Post-BoO!Nico appeared, dressed full out in armpit - he was actually getting ready to play Capture the Flag. Greeks v Romans. He was just in time to hear Zenjolras' statement. "Janus was originally Greek. I've met him - he's a jerk. Actually, most Greek governments are," | Nico, in an armpit suit: *to Zen monk Enjolras* Greek governments are jerks. | Rex is stepping on children))

Flandre appeared, seemingly asleep and bundled in a blanket on the couch. She seemed to notice the change, but not enough to wake up, instead just shifting uncomfortably and scrunching her eyes shut harder. "Hrrm..." The vampire made a small noise with a whine.

Nagisa blinked in just as she took the last bite of her cheesecake, standing on the coffee table of the living room. Naturally she was in her first form of Charlotte when she appeared in the house and she babbled her complains of being there. Then she looked for any faces she knew like the one that belonged to the pink haired girl on the couch in front of her. "Madoka," she babbled as she tilted her head. "Why are you here?"
