Nico looked up, realizing that Sol obviously wasn’t looking at the same safety brochure he was. And even if she had been, it wouldn’t have been much help. “It’s so you float,” he explained, frowning just a little bit at the illustration. “If the plane crashes in water, then these things help keep us floating. We still have to find a way to release the safety slide things…” he considered that for a long moment before his gaze caught on Sol. “The noise was the vest inflating. Mine is all… big now. You might want to wait on pulling the string on yours until we’re a little closer to the water, it makes it harder to do things.” He didn’t know what to do with his arms, no longer really able to put them in his pockets now that there was the inflated life vest buckled around him. Making a split second decision, he tugged it off and found an uninflated one instead.

Kid | Living Room 3.0 | Jason / Demon / Mordecai The person that appeared in the living room looked a bit like a businessman, considering his suit and general attire. He was maybe twenty three or so. Unlike the newest blinker, he seemed right at home in the House, since all he did when he appeared near one of the bookcases was look around with a mildly interested expression. To be noted, his heavily scared hands were visible, but he didn't seem to mind too much. "Hello," he greeted. "You lot newbies or have I missed the latest wave of blinkers again?" He gave a wain sort of smile before stepping forward. "I'm called Kid. And you?" He nodded at the fox, then at Mordecai, as if expecting an introduction.

living room 1 | @ the newbie chaos And all at once suddenly everyone was aware of there being a door. Having been backed into a wall, Terra hadn't had the chance to really look around at where they all were. But with this revelation she jumped at the chance to get away from Mr. Creeps, and she made it a point to glare at him as she gathered up her bags, and booked it after Percival and Xander. "Get me outta here!"
Terra ducked around the guy who mere moments ago had been obviously sleeping, quirking an eyebrow at his lax approach to the situation. Weird dude. She would have thought more of him, but the want to leave took precedence after her experience with Izaya. With the door now flung open, she attempted to skirt around Percival to run out, however his utterance caused her to stop just behind him and she peeked around his frame to see what would make that reaction, her wide blue eyes stretching open even further at the sight that lay beyond.
Terra breathed her one thought, "I have a feeling this isn't Earth anymore."

Jason & Demon | Living Room 3.0 | Mordecai & Kid
The fox turned around at the sudden sound of a voice, but calmed down pretty quickly as he realized the person talking to him didn’t seem to be hostile. “I- I’m Jason. The one who interrupts me sometimes is-“ ”I can introduce myself. Hi, I’m Demon. No, Jason’s not insane, I’m an immortal parasitic demonic entity bound to his body by a curse. We-“ “We fight over control of the body sometimes.” Jason hadn’t referred to it as ‘his’ body, which was a bit peculiar, but other than that and the fact he seemed to be two people sharing a body, the fox was acting rather normal. “As for me being new, uh... yeah. Second time here, actually. I don’t know much about this place yet, but guessing by how you called us newbies, I’d guess you’re not as new to this strange environment- Would you mind if I asked a few questions about this place? Finally having some answers would be nice...”

Mordecai looked sharply back into the living room from where he stood near the doorway when a voice spoke, and then another. At first he didn’t see anyone, then finally after hearing the first voice again, he looked down and spotted a… fox? He blinked a couple of times as he looked at the creature, confused. As far as he could tell, there was no one else there that either of the voices could have come from. Foxes didn’t usually speak where he was from, but this one did seem a bit unusual, between the horns and the fact that it seemed to have two energies, which reminded him of Eises. Was that normal here? “Hello… are you a blinker?” He was going to feel pretty silly if he’d been mistaken, but it was worth a try, and if he’d been right it would be rude to not respond. “Whoa!” Someone else appeared and Mordecai jumped slightly. It was only his fourth time in the house and he hadn’t really seen anyone blink in yet- they were usually there already, or he wasn’t looking in the right direction when they appeared. It really did happen in the blink of an eye. That’s going to take awhile to get used to.He raised a hand to greet the latest ‘guest’ of the House. This one looked human, though there was something unusual about his energy as well. He certainly didn’t seem surprised by suddenly being pulled from his world. “Uh, this is the fourth time I’ve been here… I think? It always looks different. I’m Mordecai,” he replied finally, then glanced at the fox again when he spoke, confirming that he had been the source of both voices and explaining the double energy he’d noticed. He’d heard of similar things happening in his world before, though he hadn’t actually met anyone similar. Or at least, he hadn’t in his life as a shade. “It’s nice to meet you all,” he said. “I’ve... only met a couple others so far.”Just please don’t ask what I am...

Kid | Living Room 3.0 | Demon/Jason/Mordecai (I just realized that Kid hasn't used his 'Welcome to the Paradox House' banner that he used to keep on him since he broke his arms and now I'm sad. ) "Ah, yes, of course," said Kid. He sounded just a touch tried all of a sudden, but he was going to do his best not to let any personal problem get in the way of the introductions. "Nice to meet you both." He glanced at Mordecai and nodded. "You as well. Alright." He walked over to one of the chairs and sat down. From the way he at once tilted the chair back to balance on only two of the legs, it was a bit obvious that he'd rather not sit at all. "Anyway, I suppose to start with, you probably already noticed you appeared out of nowhere. And that I did as well." He nodded his head back and forth as he said that. "That's ... pretty usual. You'll get used to it, I promise. It's called 'blinking' here. Like one second you're where you came from, then you blink, and you're here. So because of that, people who turn up here are called 'blinkers.'" He let the corners of his lips twitch a little. "You'll find the term handy later on. Since we have a fox, a demon, and you," he said, nodding toward Mordecai, "you can probably already guess calling everyone 'people' probably wont work in every case." He raised one hand. He seemed to be favoring using his left arm over the other, though he hadn't gestured with either very much. "As for where 'here' is, we call this the Paradox House. If it helps make the transition, you might be thinking this is some sort of dream. Ish. It's a ... pocket dimension. It's basically another world. You appear here from your world, spend some time here, than go back to your regular lives when you blink out." He nodded a couple times to Mordecai. "And sometimes it does look different. The room we're currently in is the one you're most likely to find yourself in. It's the living room." He paused, aware he might have gone a bit quicker than usual. "Questions?"

Nico looked back at Sam, his smile small but genuine. “I agree,” he whispered. “This… this has been really good.” He let the silence settle over them for a few more moments, his eyes locked on Sam’s. Having a friend… that was something special. This wasn’t something he would easily forget. His smile faded a bit as he propped himself up, dusting snow off his jacket as he did so. “I guess… I get a little stiff when it’s cold,” he replied, tilting his head. That didn’t seem particularly normal, but he didn’t really know what normal was for vampires. He frowned, hoping it wasn’t serious. He did, however, think Sam had the right idea with going inside. Nico pushed himself to his feet, dusting off his pants as well before he stepped out of his snow angel and near Sam’s. “Here.” He held out his hand, offering to help Sam up. It was a huge gesture from him, a symbol of trust, almost. He wasn’t sure what compelled him to offer it, but he didn’t pull his hand back. Would Sam know what it meant? Nico didn’t think he would, but he found he didn’t mind. Maybe he’d know, one day. Even if Sam didn't know what the hand meant, he still took it and let himself be lifted up. It was much better than what he had been trying to do before. It was a lot better than struggling with stiff legs and muscles. Grinned, he said, "Thanks." Then he let go of Nico's hand and waved for him to follow him back to the Lodge. Yes, still armed and everything. But still looking brightly Sam. As he did, more snow started to fall from the clouds above, drifting toward the ground. Slowly, little flurries of it, to replace their snow angels. (End here?)

Jason & Demon | The Living Room 3.0 | Mordecai & Kid
“HEY, I’M A PEOPLE- whoops, that sounded a lot better in my head. Anyways, uh... well, that certainly explained a few things. Someone told me this is like some kind of murder game show or something, so uh... is that true?” Jason asked, clearly a bit nervous. Heck, Demon might have had a lot of fun with that idea, but Jason never liked it when Demon fought people. He thought the taste of blood was disgusting.
”So this place changes every time we blink in to it? That’s both interesting and slightly unsettling.” Demon spoke up, with a sort of question of his own.
“This whole thing is confusing, and terrifying, and CONFUSING, AND MOST DEFINITELY TERRIFYING.” Jason said, sitting down as his head started to spin with all these crazy thoughts. A pocket dimension that just grabbed people out of their homes and shoved them into it’s constantly-changing chaos? And also possibly a murder game show? Not the best for Jason’s usually mild anxiety!

Kelsier | Living Room 2.0 | strider“Fair enough.” How could Kelsier argue with that? He refused to say scars were a bad thing, refused to put that idea in this Nico’s head. What was wrong with proof that you’d survived, anyway? He knew it was something plenty of people avoided, but not him. He didn’t mind scars, not anymore. He nodded a little. The kid was right, of course, sometimes getting hurt was inevitable, and not just physically. Sometimes he thought about the fact that he hadn’t Snapped until he’d lost Mare, seen her die. Sometimes…emotional pain was much worse than physical pain, he knew. And Nico had had more than his share of both, in his short life. “You’re right.” He agreed quietly. “Sometimes you don’t get a choice. It still hurts, but you survive it, and it gets better.” When he landed, he looked back at Nico, smiling. “I’m called a Mistborn.” He explained, coming back over to sit on the couch again. “I can’t teach you, unfortunately. It’s something I was born with.” No need to mention Snapping. He took a coin out of his pocket and Pushed lightly, letting it hover over his hand. “But I can tell you how I do it, if you like. It’s not flying, not quite, but it’s close.”

Kelsier smiled. The thing was...it might actually work. Could it be that simple? A gift from a friend in another world? Could it really bring back flowers and green plants, could it survive the harsher conditions? He didn’t know. But he was excited to find out. “I look forward to it,” he said, still smiling. He really, really would. “If your favorite is too big, any that catch your eye will do just fine. I trust your flower judgement better than I trust my own, anyway.” A small laugh at that. “It’s a start,” he agreed. “Which is a good deal more than what I had. Thanks, Myrnin. I appreciate that.” He grinned back, just a little. “Ah, well, I should hope so,” he said lightly. “Since there’s a lot I need to do, still. An entire world to save, and all that. If being insane hindered me, it would be a pain.” He watched the cookies go in, warming his hands over the oven before it closed, then turning to look where Myrnin was pointing. He headed over, circling it for a moment, before bending down to look at it closer. “What is it?” He asked finally, looking back at Myrnin, a slightly bemused expression on his face.

Nico nodded, though he was too young to really understand the magnitude of what Kelsier was saying. He had never truly faced hardship. Well… other than the hardship that came with knowing that he needed to fix how he fell in love before he grew older. That wasn’t, however, his primary concern. “Mistborn,” Nico repeated, the word unfamiliar. “I’ve never heard of a Mistborn,” he informed Kelsier solemnly, “And I know about all sorts of things.” That wasn’t to say he didn’t believe Mistborn were real – after all, Kelsier was right in front of him, and no matter what he said, Nico counted what he had just seen as flying. “How does it work?” He asked after a moment, eagerly taking Kelsier up on his offer. Maybe he would ask Kelsier to take him flying, as soon as he knew how it worked. “You have that… is that a coin? It flies. You’re… making it fly. Hover? I don’t know the right word,” he admitted, reddening a little bit. “You used it when you were flying, too. Does the coin contain your powers? Would you still have superpowers if you lost the coin? Can I hold it?” There was nobody to berate him for asking too many questions, and Kelsier had opened the floodgates by offering to explain.

Kelsier | Living Room 2.0 | strider“Yeah, you wouldn’t have heard of them.” Kelsier reassured Nico. “Different world. They don’t exist in yours.” He didn’t expect Nico to take his word for it, but he supposed it was better to have an explanation would didn’t fully believe than none at all. He took out a vial of metals and held it up for the kid to see. “It’s an alcohol solution, with bits of metal in it.” He explained. “I drink it. That’s where my powers come from, metal. Different metals give me different powers when I burn them - use them after I swallow them - and I can control how much I burn them, which controls how strong they are.” He out the vial back, not wanting to lose it in case he blinked out. He flared steel, and the coin shot up, hitting the ceiling and staying there as if magnetic. He smiled at Nico, then stopped Pushing and let it drop back to his hand, where it rested unmoving. “I would still have superpowers even without the coin.” He assured him. “It’s something that’s internal. Nothing could take them away from me.” He hesitated. “Well...almost nothing.” He amended. “This place can. It’s done it before. Seems to like to at the worst times.” He didn’t mind the questions. He was, as a matter of fact, enjoying himself quite a bit. “Here.” He handed the coin over. “It’s just a normal coin, so it won’t feel that impressive to you.” He was, however, curious to see Nico’s reaction to it.

“Oh,” Nico replied, sounding disappointed. “I think I’d have liked to meet one, if they did exist in my world.” He didn’t seem to realize that, in speaking with Kelsier, he had already met one. Perhaps he just meant more permanently. Meeting people in the House – he seemed to be remembering a second time he had appeared here, though it had looked a lot different – was a one-time thing in his mind. You met them, you had a little bit of fun, and then they disappeared from your life forever. Noctin, the dragon, the little boy he had called Amico, and after this, probably Kelsier. The possibility of never seeing Kelsier again forgotten only moments after thinking of it, Nico peered at the vial, smiling a bit at the tiny flakes of metal inside. He recoiled a bit, however, as Kelsier announced that he had to drink it. “Isn’t eating metal bad?” Nico inquired, tilting his head. He had tried to eat a rock once, and his mother had reprimanded him. It wasn’t his fault it had looked tasty. Maybe adults got to eat metal if they wanted to. Adults seemed to get to do anything, and Nico couldn’t help but be a little bit jealous. His gaze followed the coin stuck to the ceiling, eyes widening as it just stayed there, stuck. “If you wanted to, could you push through the ceiling?” he asked, his gaze returning back to Kelsier. “So the coin isn’t important at all,” he concluded, sounding a bit disappointed. Maybe he had wanted the coin to be more exciting. “Why would this place take your powers away from you? That seems mean! If I had powers and this place took them, I… I think I’d fight it for them!” He puffed up his chest, trying to seem bigger than he actually was. “I bet you could beat it in a fight. It’s just a house, and you have cool superpowers. Plus you seem cool even without the super powers.” He was easily distracted by the coin, taking it and holding it up to the light and squinting at it. “This isn’t a lira,” he commented, eyes wide. “It… it’s not like the coins Father brings back from his trips, either! If… if it’s not important, can… can I keep it?”

Sol | Plane Crash | strider |"Oh, okay," said Sol, her tone barb-free for once as she found herself pleasantly surprised at Nico's willingness to describe what was going on around them. It was.....helpful. Nice. She fiddled with the string on her own life vest, but followed Nico's advice and didn't pull it. She didn't know what inflate meant, but Nico said it got all big, and that sounded annoying. Plus, she was pretty sure Nico took his off, so it probably was annoying. "Look, I think you might wanna change that if to a when," she suggested, jerking one shoulder towards the control room. "Cause we're still going down way fast, and they've been in there for like ten minutes."

Kelsier | Living Room 2.0 | strider“Don’t worry, I’ll tell you everything you want to know about them.” Kelsier assured the kid, smiling a little. He knew the House didn’t have to let them talk again after this, but he hoped it would. He really hoped it would let them see each other again. Well...it probably would. He and the older version of Nico needed to talk...or, maybe they wouldn’t. Maybe Nico wanted to just pretend it hadn’t happened. Kelsier didn’t plan on bringing it up, not if Nico didn’t, because as far as he was concerned, the ball was in Nico’s court now. He just hoped he wasn’t angry. Either way, it didn’t matter now. Right now, this Nico had all his attention. “Typically, yes.” He agreed. “But Mistborn aren’t quite like other people. For us, it doesn’t hurt us unless we don’t burn it for too long. Then it can make us sick, which is why I don’t leave metals in my system overnight.” There was a lot to describe. But, Nico seemed interested to know all about it, and Kel didn’t mind explaining. “No, not this ceiling anyway.” He continued, shaking his head. “This ceiling is too strong for that. Some ceilings, I could make it go through, but this one would just push against me and try to throw me backwards. For every push, there’s a pull. If I Push a coin against the floor, for example, it can’t move away from me anymore, so I’m forced away from it, which is why I looked like I was flying a moment ago.” He paused, considering how best to answer Nico’s next question. “This place isn’t nice,” he said finally. “It hurts people, sometimes. This room is pretty safe, but the other ones...don’t go in those, okay? Especially not alone. They’re dangerous.” He smiled. “Oh, don’t worry, I’ll fight it for my powers.” He said, laughing lightly. “They’re much too important to me to be lost. And this place doesn’t stand a chance against me.” He watched Nico, watched his expression as he held the coin up. His smile deepened, because it was obviously exciting to the kid. “Yeah, it’s yours.” He agreed. His hand went to his pocket without him meaning, where the butterfly magnet still rested. “It should blink back with you, if it’s a gift.”

Kelsier | Plane Crash | mostly Rae and Arlo Kelsier nodded, forcing himself to concentrate on what the girl was telling him. He didn’t know the first thing about the controls, he didn’t know what they were or how to use them, and he felt like his entire body was trying to shut down, but...he would do this. He would see it through, and he would do his best to help, even if he probably was the exact wrong person for the job. He looked up sharply as she fell, and Arlo stepped towards her. She wasn’t alright, none of them were, but he understood why she’d asked. “Don’t apologize.” He said lightly, his voice shaking even as he let out a small laugh. “I’m right there with you.” Admitting he was terrified was harder than he’d expected. He wanted rather desperately to pretend he wasn’t scared at all, but the panic was making that almost impossible at the moment, and he shook his head, turning back to the controls. “Yeah, I can do that.” He said, gritting his teeth and forcing himself forward. He got into position, then grabbed the thing she had indicated and pulled it towards him, forcing the panic back as hard as he could.

Izaya blinked in, walking forward, phone in his hand. It went dead immediately. He blinked, then slowly lowered it as he saw where he was. “Well well.” He said to himself, glancing over his shoulder to see whether he was alone. He was, foe the moment. He walked forward, turning a full circle as he moved, taking everything in. Once he reached the bookshelf, he reached forward and removed one of the bigger ones, letting it fall open to a random page. Blank. How interesting....

Little Nico | Living Room 2.0 Nico grinned, excitement crossing his features at the prospect of being able to ask Kelsier everything he wanted to know. The truth was he wanted to know everything, and there were already about a million questions burning at the back of his mind. About whether the only things Kelsier could do involved the coin, about what he used his superpowers for, about whether the people he fought also had superpowers, and if it was really fair to fight them if they didn’t, though he had a feeling he knew the answer to the last bit himself. Bad people were bad people, and they deserved to be taken down, even if there wasn’t a fair fight. “I’m glad the metals don’t hurt,” he whispered, glancing at where Kelsier had put them away. “What happens if you burn it too long? What kind of sick? Does it hurt?” His eyes were wide, and he knew his mother would have reprimanded him by now for how many questions he was asking, but as long as Kelsier hadn’t asked him to stop, he figured it would probably be alright. He didn’t seem to be angering the man, at least. “Oh,” Nico frowned, looking up at the ceiling. “Could you break through the ceiling if you put a coin on the ground and pushed up on it hard enough? Can you change how hard you push on it? How does that work? Is it like pushing a normal object, except you aren’t touching on it?” He drew just a bit nearer, excitement consuming his expression. “I think I like your superpowers,” he added, a grin spreading across his face. “I want superpowers, but I don’t think they exist in my world, not for real. We don’t have dragons either, and there was definitely a dragon here last time I was here. Or… two times ago I guess. Last time the room got lit on fire and it was scary.” He glanced up at Kelsier, frowning a bit as he thought about that. He didn’t know if the friend he had made there was alright. He hoped he was… “Why does it hurt people?” Nico asked after a long moment, the question quieter and less eager than the others had been. “Is it mean? It’s been nice to me every time I’ve been here...” he trailed off, looking at the hallway. “I haven’t been in there, though. I’ve only been here. And maybe one other place, but I wasn’t alone, and I didn’t choose to go in there.” He sounded worried, like he thought he might have done something wrong by blinking into the room he hadn’t had a choice in. His fingers carefully curled around the coin and he tucked it into his pocket, hoping it would be safe there. Maybe he’d get Bianca to find someplace safe for him to hide it, because he didn’t think his Father would appreciate him having currency that he hadn’t purposefully given him. “Thank you,” he whispered almost reverently, as though he couldn’t believe Kelsier had actually agreed. “It’s cool.” He didn’t say the face on the coin looked mean. He thought Kelsier might decide to rescind the gift if he did that.

Touka | Living room | ®Hawkpath® |"So what if it does happen, Jiro?" Touka blinked in, rounding on whoever she'd been talking to - or, more accurately, shouting at. "I mean, for f(oops)' sake, of all the irresponsible things - " She broke off abruptly as she noticed her blink, chest still heaving from the explosive force of her anger. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!" She shouted, at the top of her lungs, and swiped the lamp from its usual position on the end table, hurling it against the wall with her full strength and gaining little satisfaction from watching it shatter into a million pieces.

Izaya turned at the voice, dropping the book carelessly as he lost interest in it. He watched as the girl who had appeared realized her blink, and he didn’t flinch as the lamp shattered against the wall, didn’t react to her fury at all, actually. Well...at least not while she was yelling. There was a brief pause after the lamp shattered. A moment of silence. Then the sound of clapping cut through the air. “Tsk tsk.” He said, raising an eyebrow. “Temper temper.”

Touka \ Living room \ ®Hawkpath® \ Touka turned sharply, blinking in surprise as another person came seemingly out of nowhere. She'd been too wrapped up in her anger at Jiro's pigheaded stubbornness to notice the human scent, but now she looked the new blinker over, eye narrowing as she realized she'd never seen him before. "The hell are you?" she asked icily, her bad mood not entirely gone. Especially in light of how the new blinker had just spoken to her. It got under her skin.

“Izaya Orihara.” The newer blinker introduced himself, either not noticing or completely ignoring her bad mood. Probably the latter. He didn’t bother looking at the remains of the lamp, instead focusing on the angry girl. Who didn’t seem to be shocked to be here, which meant that the group he had been with before was not the first group that this had happened to. She seemed...not calm, but not surprised. This was obviously not something she didn’t understand, then. He smirked. “Glad to see that lamp destroyed.” He continued. “Too bad you couldn’t break it before it hurt you so badly. Ah, well...what’s done is done. Or something.” He shrugged, spreading his arms. He seemed entirely unconcerned with the fact that he didn’t actually have a clue where he was.

Kelsier | Living Room 2.0 | striderKelsier meant what he said. Nico could ask him anything, and he would do this best to answer it. Even the darker parts, he would do his best to be honest about, because Nico deserved the truth at any age, even as a kid. “It can change me if I burn them too long.” He explained. “It can make me need them, so that I feel bad if I’m not burning them. Depends on the metal, but some of them can be pretty bad if you burn them too long. Also, it can hurt, yes. It’s dangerous to leave them in your system too long.” He didn’t plan on ever asking Nico to stop. He loved answering these questions, he was glad that he could explain how it worked in detail. And Nico seemed excited enough for the both of them. “Probably not.” He admitted, glancing at the ceiling. “I think that would hurt me, being caught in the middle like that. Between the floor and the ceiling, I would be the least hard thing there was, and it would be like being crushed.” He smiled a little. “It’s a bit like that, yeah.” He said, nodding. “I can change how hard I Push, but I can’t Push past something heavier than I am, or I’ll be thrown backwards, which is why I could look like I was flying. The coin couldn’t get any further from me, so I went further from it.” He watched Nico. He could have told him, right then, that he would have powers one day. That, technically, he already did. But he didn’t do that. Why? Because...he wasn’t sure why. Maybe he just didn’t think it was a good idea to try and tell this kid the future. He wouldn’t lie, though. He didn’t want to lie. “You never know,” he said lightly. “Maybe they do. I’m not in your world, but how can you tell they don’t? Kelsier paused, looking at the kid, his expression shifting a little. “Yeah, that sounds like the House.” He said quietly. “It can be scary sometimes. That’s why it’s a good idea to stay out of the rooms.” He didn’t answer for a moment. But he didn’t want to lie. “I think it thinks it’s fun.” He explained, as gently as he could. “It tries to see how we react to things. It’s mean, yes. It hurts people sometimes, very badly.” It also gave them friends. But he needed Nico to know it wasn’t a safe, happy place. “It’s alright.” He added. “Sometimes you don’t have a choice. But when you do, it’s a good idea to stay out of the rooms. It’s a lot safer here.” He smiled, glad to see Nico happy. The gift was something he could give, something he didn’t want to take back, not ever. It did occur to him that this meant his coin was likely somewhere in Nico’s world...how did that work, anyway? Nico obviously didn’t remember this. How… He shook his head a little. He may not understand how this worked, but that was the House. He would think about it later. “And now it’s yours.” He said, his expression cheerful. “For as long as you want it.”

“Oh,” Nico replied, eyebrows raising. “How do you make sure you don’t get hurt when you do it? How do you know you don’t accidentally burn too much?” He sounded worried, like he was scared for Kelsier’s health. He was, despite having only known Kelsier for a few minutes. He seemed nice, and Nico didn’t want him to get hurt more than he already had. Based on the scars, it seemed he had been hurt a lot, which wasn’t very fair. Sometimes, though, the world wasn’t very fair. “Is it permanent if you make yourself need them on accident?” Nico’s eyes grew especially wide for this question – as long as something wasn’t permanent, it could be fixed. And sometimes, like when a vase broke, it could be a permanent break but still be mostly fixed. Nico hoped it was a lot like that. He glanced between the floor and the ceiling, then nodded sagely. That made sense. He didn’t want Kelsier to get crushed, though, so he wouldn’t ask him to demonstrate. Still… he was sad that the ceiling seemed to be so strong. It would be cool to see Kelsier push through it with just a coin. Maybe they’d find someplace with a ceiling that was less strong! But that would require going somewhere else, and Kelsier had implied that the rooms were dangerous… “I guess… I don’t know that they don’t exist,” he admitted, puzzled. “I thought I saw a guy with only one eye the other day! He was really tall, but Bianca told me I was staring and that staring is rude, so I stopped doing it. She said I just didn’t see right because he was so tall, that people with one big eye in the middle of their forehead don’t exist. But if they do, I bet they have superpowers!” He grinned, shoving his hands into his pockets and rocking back and forth – a habit he maintained even as he grew older (though he usually did it without quite so much animation). “It’s not fun to hurt people,” Nico whispered, shaking his head. “The House sounds like a bully.” He didn’t like that very much. There were bullies in his world who made fun of people and tended to think it was amusing to see other people get hurt, but Nico had never really understood why. It just… was. Sometimes people liked to hurt other people, and sometimes people didn’t. Relief swept over Nico when he saw Kelsier’s smile. He wasn’t upset with him for ending up in a room, at least. He hadn’t chosen to go in, and he hadn’t known that rooms would be dangerous, but now he knew… and he’d have to remember that, so that if anyone ever tried to go into a room, he could stop them. “Thank you,” Nico said again, his own smile returning easily. “I’ll keep it forever and ever, cause if you’re right, there’s nothing else like it in my world!” he exclaimed proudly. He stood like that for a moment before his expression grew more somber and he stared Kelsier in the eye. “You know… you’re really nice,” he whispered, just loudly enough for Kelsier to hear him. “You answer all my questions and you don’t tell me to shut up or tell me I’m annoying, and then you gave me something from your world that doesn’t even exist in mine…” He searched Kelsier’s gaze, as though trying to find an explanation. Sometimes nice people didn’t realize they were nice. Nico wanted to make sure Kelsier knew.

Casting a glance back at the cockpit, Nico knew Sol was right. The crash was beginning to seem unavoidable. The two of them had life vests, but that didn’t mean the others did, and Nico had no idea if any of the three of them knew how to swim. Well… he thought Rae probably did. He thought she had blinked in while swimming once, but he wasn’t sure he was remembering right. “Okay… well, then pull it when I tell you, right before we hit the water. You won’t float if it’s not inflated.” He knelt down, trying to follow the directions to find the adult safety vests. Finally, he managed to pull one out, but not without accidentally cutting his thumb on something sharp under the seat. They really didn’t make those easy to get to… if he had a say in designing airplanes, he would have told them to make their safety vests easy to get to. “I’m… I’m pulling the adult safety vests out,” he informed Sol, “So the other three hopefully won’t drown.” He managed to get another one out, but he would need to move to another row if he wanted a third. He’d need to find a way to pull himself back to his feet without looking out the window. “I’m gonna need you to deliver them to the cockpit… er… the place where they all went,” he explained, unsure if she had heard the word. “I don’t think I can do it myself.” If he saw out the big window in the front… he would probably pass out from the sheer panic of how high they were. Of how suddenly not high they were.

Kid | The Living Room 3.0 | Mordecai/Demon/Jason Kid looked a bit awkward. "That wouldn't be how I'd describe it, but I wouldn't say it was incorrect either. It is a bit like a murder game show." With that bit of an awkward look, he leaned his head back. "Not always." He nodded to the one and only exit out of the living room. "See over there?" he asked. "That goes to the hallway. There's a lot of rooms along the hallway. You enter a room and anything can happen. This place is very, very big. So there's always different things around. That's why this place changes. Enter a room and it's usually dangerous. It's just how things go." He sounded numb to it. Well, not numb, but his eyes showed that he'd been here for long enough to have seen some things. "But it isn't all bad," he admitted after a second. "The people here ... they're almost always on your side. Not always, but usually. So it's fairly easy to make friends and allies."

Mordecai kept a bit of distance between himself and the others as he listened. So far Kid’s explanation was sounding about same as what Eises had told him, and what he’d heard that other woman- Shilo?- tell a new blinker last time he’d been there. He got the feeling that the older blinkers had needed to repeat the same story plenty of times before. When Kid started mentioning the different types of blinkers, Mordecai tensed and pulled his hood a bit lower. Between its shadow and the House’s lighting, he was pretty sure it was enough to keep the non-human color of his eyes and skin from being noticed. He glanced around the living room and nodded when Kid mentioned it staying the same. It was the first room he’d seen and the only one he’d seen twice so far. He already asked Eises a few questions when he’d been there the first time, so he waited for the fox to answer rather than asking any of his own. Murder game show..?He blinked a couple of times, then glanced over at Kid, somewhere between startled and confused since that didn’t really match any of the descriptions he’d heard so far. Had someone just been been trying to scare them? If not, that was worrying… though he wasn’t sure how much worse it would be than his own world. The beginning of Kid’s response wasn’t particularly reassuring, but he still relaxed a bit when he realized he was just talking about the strange rooms- so far the ones he’d seen hadn’t seemed so bad, though maybe he’d just been lucky somehow. The last part reminded him of what he’d been thinking before, the blinkers he’d met so far had mostly seemed nice, or at least they hadn’t been violent toward each other. He still wasn’t sure about testing how they would react to seeing a shade, they were from different worlds where shades might not exist… right? He hesitated, thinking about it for a few moments before asking, “Are there ever times where… more than one blinker comes from the same world? I mean, besides ones that share the same body.”

Tachibana Asami | Living room | ®Hawkpath®Touka blinked out, and in her place, blinked in a familiar monstrosity. Asami was sitting on the floor, appearing human for the moment, her legs crossed at a slightly awkward angle with her thick wool skirt carefully splayed out around them. She was wearing a cozy green sweater with a button up shirt underneath, and holding a Rubix cube in her hands, her sallow face blank but focused as she manipulated it clumsily, trying to figure out how to move all the pieces separately. She did not understand why Aunt Michiko was so determined to teach her to use her hands - human fingers were clumsy and inflexible. She vastly preferred using her own form, but she would indulge her humans' desire for her to learn to mimic human behavior.

Izaya’s face fell in disappointment as the angry girl disappeared. He’d wanted to see if he could bait her more... “Too bad.” He said to himself, shrugging. Then he turned as something else caught his eye. Someone else. “Hellooooo.” He said, walking towards her, his smile mischievous returning to his features. He wasn’t yet familiar enough with the place to suspect she wasn’t what she seemed, so he didn’t immediately feel all that interested in her besides the regular amount. She appeared human, and he assumed that she was. “Izaya Orihara.” He said, stopping close to her and leaning over to look at her a little closer. He tilted his head. “Me.”
