Oh same I do that all the time. I've lived in the same town all my life and I'm still completely lost on where most things are. I honestly have no idea where the mall is in my town. All I know is that it's like in downtown somewhere. It's something we both need to work on lol.

I have, say, chunks of where I know things are, but very little idea on how to get from one chunk to another or where they are in relation to each other. I can navigate from my house to my school easily but not anywhere else. Yeah, I'm sure we'll pick it up sooner or later! And either way, we can always buy a GPS.

I know the local schools and my house and vague recollections of where the library, grocery store, movie theatre, and outdoor mall are, but not exact directions. If someone gives me verbal directions, I will never be able to follow. My family always just uses the GPS on our phones lol.

My mom somehow has the magical ability to find her way anywhere. I have really not inherited this ability, haha.

So do my parents and siblings. We drive down to California a lot and they all alternate driving but I have no idea how they know which way to go because we never use a GPS to get to California. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah. When we were in Vancouver, my mom could manage to find her way to all sorts of places with minimal help from someone with a map, meanwhile I'm looking at the map and I have no idea where I am at all. Maps are complicated.
How old are your siblings?

I don't like maps unless it's the map on my phone showing where I am and highlighting the direction I'm supposed to be going. Otherwise I'm like "hahaha what"
My brother's 20 and my sister's 18. I'm the youngest >.<

Yeah. Maps are weird. Especially when they're not to scale and they're omitting streets and then you have no idea where you are. I have no idea how people navigate without a GPS or a reliable person who knows where they're going.
Interesting! I'm the oldest so I don't really know what it's like to have older siblings, but I imagine they're about as fun as younger siblings except with more experience.
In exciting news, I went out driving with my mom? I drove around a little bit in a parking lot and along streets and didn't freak out and pull over except for when there was a bus behind me. It went better than I thought it would but I still can't go over 30 km/h without being scared.

I wouldn't know anything about younger siblings other than the fact that they're very, very annoying. I can't stand my friends' younger siblings and they agree with me lol. For the most part, I actually have an okay relationship with my older siblings but when I was younger we would argue a lot. I just don't talk to them often anymore whoops~
Hooray! Parking lots are good for practice I'm told because they're a pretty confined space. I think I'd have the opposite problem honestly because I always have to go fast. I can't stand going super slow.

Younger siblings are very annoying in my experience, but my brother's gotten better as he's gotten older because now we just stay out of the other's way and don't talk to each other. I think siblings get along better as they get older in general, probably mostly because they see them less.
Parking lots are good for practice, especially when they're school parking lots and it's a Sunday evening in summer. I definitely can't go fast because it takes me a while to process things, which is probably not the best quality in a future driver! And the faster I go the more I freak out because the less time I have to think and the more damage I'd do.
In good news, I wrote some more words today and finally finished the first of an estimated fourteen chapters of this project! I get to do fun angry conversations next, which I enjoy doing because it means I can explore the theme even more.

Yeah, that sounds about right.
I think my train of thought is basically "slow is boring so let's try something else." I get bored very, very easily, and also I'm very impatient. I'll probably end up breaking speed limits a lot when I start driving lol. It's the same with my brother.
Ooh nice!! I like writing angry conversations too, but mostly because a lot of good quotes can come out of arguments. At least in writing.

I should probably go to websites other than YouTube more often. ;3; Sorry it's been so long since I've been here. I'm the procrastimaster when it comes to responding to people. ^^' (lel like my new word?)
Best wishes to you, Ghost Writer! c:
To answer you question from, like, weeks ago, Dawn, I'm doing good! Kind of. This moving to a new house thing is sucking more than we expected. My parents just wasted a whole week trying to paint the kitchen ceiling only to find out that the paint they were using was utter garbage. I didn't actually see it myself, but evidently, the paint made the ceiling, which is supposed to be flat, look like the cottage cheese kind of ceiling. Also, they painted a bit of the wall to see how it would look (I guess), and afterward, my dad noticed a paint booger thing and tried to rub it in. However, this ended up pulling the every layer of paint off of the wall. Every layer. Including the paint job done by previous owners. So yeah, my parents are hiring people to paint for us. I guess the lesson to take away from this is to carefully read every bad review of a product, or something. :/ Other than this, my summer has been kind of boring. In an attempt to make it less boring, I've started baking sweet things, like cupcakes and cookies. It's actually pretty fun! ^^ I've also been interesting in voice acting recently. I actually got a part in a fan project, but I want to get a mic that's not crap before actually submitting the official lines. ^^' WOW WHAT SORRY FOR THE ESSAY I LIKE EXPLAINING THINGS IN MUCH DETAIL SORRY!
...Anyway, I can't really contribute to your driving conversation because I have zero driving experience because I'm not old enough to drive yet. ^^' I will be in December, though! Yay, I think! But wait wasn't it December like yesterday crap man the years keep going by quicker
I should probably try writing one of these days ^^' I have vague ideas for plotlines, but no patience or motivation or any ideas on how to begin ,xD

Lol I just have a bunch of paint hidden everywhere in my house and for like two years there was just a bunch of buckets of paint in my closet for some reason??? I still need to paint my room but luckily my dad knows how to do things so I don't think we'll have the issues your parents were having. Good luck with the voice acting thing! That sounds like a lot of fun, but I'd probably be terrible at it. Not that I've tried. I've been in a limbo all of summer and like three weeks passed by without me realizing and now my sixteenth birthday is in less than two weeks. O.o I need to find something to do because I've been wasting away. I reeeaaaallly need to take a tour of my college campus because I have no idea where anything is...
I mean I have yet to drive at all but a few of my friends have started driving and my siblings already drive. But that's about as much as I can contribute.
If writing's not your thing, it's not your thing lol. I usually start by writing what I actually want to write and then thinking about all the other stuff later.

Hello again Stream! I will be using the word "procrastimaster" a lot more often in my daily life.
Voice acting sounds like a lot of fun! I have sort of tried it (aka whispering lines from Lord of the Rings dramatically to my cat) but my voice is very high and my pronunciation skills are really bad and I have a bit of a lisp, so I don't think it would ever work for me. If it's not too personal, what's the fan project about?
I've also been wasting away all summer except for today when I went out for a bike ride with my grandpa and ended up being less fit than an eighty-year-old... so, you know, that's my life now.
I'm actually a lot further along in driving than lots of my friends. I'm one of the younger ones in my group of friends, but I know a handful who don't even have their learner's licence yet (I think I've said before that you can get them when you're 14 where I am? Well, there we go anyways) and we're all around 16/17. I think only one of my friends actually has her full driver's licence and a car.
I find if I have a vague writing idea but don't know what to do with it, I just write out as much as I know on a word document and see where it takes me. Worst case scenario and it doesn't end up going anywhere, at least you have it written down so if you want to use some ideas from it later you can.

I wrote over 4000 words today and my hands are aching, kill me, why did I think this was a good idea??
|
|
|
Post by αυяσяα ησx on Jul 19, 2017 23:42:30 GMT -5
But that's good! And since you wrote 4000 words, that also means you can spend a little time resting! I've had days where I wrote ten pages in one sitting it was horrible but by the end I was also extremely satisfied

|
|
Post by fuzzytail333 on Jul 20, 2017 12:37:43 GMT -5
I wish I could spend more time resting! I set my project goal to 20,000 so I'm still pretty far behind. I'd be caught up if I wrote another 4000 today but I am not doing that. And I really don't want to move my word count goal down because that means I'd be even further behind on my goal for the year. aaaaa. I still am glad I did it though!

|
Post by αυяσяα ησx on Jul 20, 2017 16:20:09 GMT -5
You should be glad! 4000 is quite a bit though so I get it lol. There's this really interesting online thing called "fighter's block" I believe and it's kind of like an online game. You have an avatar and you set a word count for yourself and you have to keep writing to meet that goal or else your avatar starts losing health. You can pause at any time and the website saves your progress for you even if you exit out, so it's really cool!

I've heard of those types of things before, but I haven't heard of that one! I'll check it out. I remember there was one that displayed pictures of kittens whenever you met a certain goal, but I kept getting too distracted by the kitten pictures to actually continue writing.

Lol I don't usually use those things, but fighter's block was fun. I never actually accomplished anything using it because I just never got around to it, but I did use it to work on little things.
Oh yeah so I watched Spiderman: Homecoming the other day and it was AMAZING I loved it and I love Tom Holland

I usually don't use them either because I need my time to do things and I get distracted too easily. I'll probably use it next time I'm writing an essay or something like that.
I've been meaning to go see that at some point! I've seen a bit about it on social media. Time to see if any of my friends are available...

I think I have a link to a website that grades essays but I haven't used it yet so idk how good it is...
It's sooooo good ugh it got me back into Spiderman. The actor for Peter is adorable (even though he's 21 but whatever) and I relate to Zendaya's character a lot and just so many things about the movie is just amazing.

I've heard about websites that automatically grade essays and apparently they aren't that great. It was a while ago that I read an article about it, though, so times may have changed.
I'll definitely have to watch it sometime soon! I'll see if I can go see it sometime. I didn't feel too strongly about the other spiderman movies but I guess since it's a MCU film I'll give it a shot, and I've heard lots of good things about it.

Idk I might test one out on an essay I already got a grade on to see how it compares. School grading standards constantly differ and change so that may also be a factor.
Yeah the other Spiderman movies were bad but THIS ONE is a good one. Tom Holland actually looks like a teenager and Peter acts like one too AND, while there is a love interest, it's not the main point of the story. Also, Tony Stark acting as a mentor/father figure towards Peter

Those are all excellent qualities, especially the "romance is not main part of story" part. I definitely will check it out.

*chanting* Do it do it do it. I have decided that it's the best Spiderman movie out of all of them, which isn't a hard thing to accomplish but whatever.
And at this point, I have effectively run out of things to discuss.

I have things to discuss, luckily! I'm throwing a surprise birthday party for my best friend this afternoon, which should be fun! I haven't really done one of these things before so I don't really know how it will go.
... my main fear is that when her parents say "go check the backyard" she'll think it's a dog but it's really just going to be her friends. My other fear is that my other friend, who is the main organizer and has all the decorations, will be late, because she is late for everything and we don't have a lot of time. I'm also not entirely sure who is going. But other than that I made cupcakes which didn't turn out too horribly!

I think it'll go great lol. Friends should be just as good as a dog, and throwing a surprise party is a nice gesture! I've always wanted a surprise party honestly, but that's kind of hard to do and it would be awfully predictable considering how small my house is. And speaking of birthdays, mine is on the 31st and I still haven't decided on what I should do...

(Sorry it took so long for me to respond after liking your posts; I was in the middle of making some, uh... surprise cookies for my family. *cough* xD) I'm glad that you like my new word, Fuzzy! XD It's not that my parents didn't know how to paint, it's just that the paint they ended up getting was garbage. Also, we now have a painter guy to help us paint, so yay, progress! We are going to paint the closets ourselves, though, which is fine, because I was hoping to help paint anyway. ^^ As for the voice project thing, it's a Disgaea manga dub. The channel doing it is called Project Muse Stars. I don't have a deadline for submitting my lines yet because not all of the characters have voice actors yet and the channel isn't too well-known, so that's kind of good for me, because now I have more time to find a good microphone. I probably should've gotten on before trying out, but it's too late now. ^^' My brother has yet to even try to drive and my parents are too busy to teach us how at the moment, so I don't really know anything. ,xD But wait, there was a time when my brother and some of my cousins and I went to a kart driving thing one time, so I guess I know a little bit, like don't space out because if you do you might start driving half off of the road, but that's pretty much all I know. I do like writing a bit, and I've been told that I'm good at it, and I do have a few ideas, but I'm too lazy to write in my free time. ^^' I wrote down a particularly interesting dream that I had so I could maybe have some writing fuel eventually, though! Does that count? xD Huh, I don't think I knew that the new Spiderman movie was out already! My family'll probably check it out eventually, once they are able to rent it. Ooh, surprise party! How'd it go? Also, what kind of cupcakes did you make? ^^ Also, happy early birthday, Dawn!

Ooh, surprise cookies! The best type of cookies.
The surprise party went well! I made confetti cake cupcakes with colourful icing and they turned out much better than I was expecting. My friend cried when she saw us all, so I think that means we were successful. I had so much sugar that I am having a gigantic sugar crash right now.
As for your birthday, Dawn, I can't really give you any suggestions because I'm not very good at that myself. ... I did spend most of my sixteenth birthday in my room crying for various reasons so I'm sure it will go better than mine. Just having friends over and eating cake is generally a safe idea. It's still a party but you don't have to do anything too extravagant if you don't know what to do.
I hope you get the part you want, Stream! And a good microphone! The "don't space out" advice is very difficult for me to follow because I just space out all the time. In the middle of conversations. While sitting in the passenger seat. In class. While writing exams. While writing, in general. I did actually kind of zone out while I was driving around recently. I get super apathetic and can't make myself care about anything like driving. And people still want me on the road.
Dreams are excellent writing fuel. Sometimes the ideas make no sense but sometimes they're really good! I had a long discussion with another friend today at the party about writing. I complained about my awful first drafts and lamented that one of the best things I've ever written was written in bed at 10 at night because I was angry at the entire concept of existentialism? It was well written and funny. How did I do that?
