I used to have so much free time! I don't anymore. I still have one final to get through (and it's a diploma exam, so it's very important) and even after that I'm going to be pretty busy with going on vacation and then I have to learn how to drive. I honestly don't know when I'll have a lot of free time again. I still want to work on my writing and everything. Haha, yeah, I think I earned it back. I haven't sold the stock yet because it's not a very high price and I'm still very confused as to how they work. I'll probably just leave it sitting there for a while. Oh, I thought school was over for the summer for everyone! Gosh, all of that sounds stressful. I hope you do well on that final, and everything else you have to work on. Also, nice, a vacation! Where are you going? Or is that a weird question? ._. Yeah, I don't really get it either. ^^' Well I wrote the final and I think I did pretty well! I'm not going to say where I'm going because ~internet safety~ but I am going to be going on a cruise! I've been good! My family's moving right now and it's kind of stressful, but it's also pretty cool! How about you? It's kind of stressful here too. My partner and I live with roommates due to a housing set back and all they do is fight and scream. So we're trying to get out. On the upside, my partner might get a really nice job that will allow us to get a house better than our parents so that's pretty neat That sounds pretty stressful. Hope the situation has cleared up in the ~4 days since you've posted and that your partner will get the job!

It has gotten worse. We both had to move back with my parents because they were going to let a guy with bed bugs rent the other room. So we had to take all our things out before he moved in and leave.

What? I'm alive? YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE HOW SORRY I AM FOR DISAPPEARING. Again. Um. This time it was pure laziness but I've been out of school for a few weeks. I haven't read back but hello person-I-don't-think-I-know! I'll try to be on for summer and I'm taking college classes in September so depending on how much workload I have for three classes, I think I should have more free time. But again, laziness. That is a thing. That I am. (I should work on that)

I'm good! Summer's been really, really boring so far, but I'm going to this annual fair-type-thing with my friends tomorrow, so that's pretty cool. I might go again on Saturday, but I'm not too sure.
How've you been?

Hello everyone! I was going to respond earlier but didn't know what to say and then just procrastinated on that and everything else for a few days. I'm back from vacation and am mentally exhausted and can't seem to bring myself to write, which is really annoying. Anyone doing anything interesting?

Whoa you're alive!! I knew I saw you online a while ago but then you disappeared so I was like >.>
Jkjk. I'm supposed to be writing a chapter of this one thing, but then I listened to a song and ended up writing a completely different thing. And I joined a bunch of RPs because I am just that bored.

Haha yeah. I was so drained that replying felt like too much work for me at the time, sigh.
I am kind of doing the same thing? I decided to practice my instrument instead of writing and listened to the song we're supposed to be playing next year and died a little inside again. I don't know why I signed up for camp nanowrimo in July when I knew I would be gone for more than a week? And I'll be working on three projects this year? I don't know why I did that? aha oops

Ah yes, procrastination at its finest. NaNoWriMo always seemed cool so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That's probably why. The real question is: why do we love writing so much yet we never actually write???

I don't know?? I've been very good at actually writing things this year but so far this week has just been staring at the document, laugh-crying, closing, doing something useless with my time. First drafts are impossible and I hate them

I've just kind of been rereading a bunch of things and sleeping. Like, I haven't done anything all summer except go to a carnival and go to a friend's house once. Writing is e v i l and I need to start actually doing it.

Sleeping is so great! My dad said I'd probably be more motivated if I didn't sleep until noon so I woke up today at 9 and surprise I'm still tired and unmotivated. And honestly, with all the work you've been doing, I think you probably deserve some relaxation time.
Writing can be so evil at times. I am so far behind on my goals this year, sigh. I'm just starting this story and am only about 1k in so I think once I get into it I'll be fine, but starting is the hardest part for me.

Samee. I keep starting and then deleting this one thing I've been working on because I'm so unsatisfied with it. I just can't get it right and I cry every time

Sigh, I hate it when that happens. I find it's a lot easier if you adopt an attitude of "it doesn't matter if it's good or not, just get it down on the document and you can change it later." I did that, and I've gone from a pretty bad first draft to a decent second draft, so I think it works? It's better to have a terrible thing written than nothing at all.

Yeah I do that sometimes too. It works out but it's just so tedious ahhh. And then there's this one thing that I keep trying to write but it always ends up way too short for my liking and it's horrible.
On the bright side, I have gotten some writing done today. Even if it's not what I should be working on....

That sucks. I'm sure that you'll get it eventually!
I've also gotten some writing done! It's not a lot, but it's still something, and I'm getting to the parts where I actually know what I'm doing soonish.

Nice! Good luck with it all, haha. You'll get sucked into the writing soon enough, I think. What I find also helps is writing like, a quick outline of everything that you want to happen. I wrote 15k+ words of an outline for this one thing where it was basically me compacting a bunch of scenes and it helped me to figure out what to add in and take out.

|
|
Post by fuzzytail333 on Jul 13, 2017 23:06:03 GMT -5
Yeah, I have an outline! It's about 10k or so but it's missing a lot of chunks because I only started planning this thing halfway through June, which was not enough time for me to get it all in. I've got the beginning and the climax but the middle and the ending are just kind of vague question marks at the moment. It's more of a fun project than a serious project though so I'm not too concerned. I can probably just work it out as I go.
I also should probably go to bed now, so goodnight!

Night!
The outline for the thing I wrote was pretty hard for me to write too haha. For the actual thing, I ended up taking out like a whole lot because they weren't very important parts. I'm sure you'll do great!

I usually stick pretty close to my outline when writing, because otherwise I don't really know what to do. If it ends up not working I take it out in editing. And thank you!
I want to write right now but I don't have the focus and I also have to work on my online driver's course... it's really strange because sometimes it's really obvious stuff and other times it says "you will kill everyone you know and love if you don't do everything absolutely perfectly" like... thanks... not like I'm already worried about driving, or anything,

I feel like learning how to drive is half learning things that nobody ever actually pays attention to or remembers. My mom was like "oh let's take an online driver's quiz for practice!!" and she was reading the questions and was just like "what is this" sooo
I managed to finish something! Granted it was only ten pages but still

Haha yeah, when I did the learner's test nearly two years ago (since you can get a learner's licence at 14 and it's really just a knowledge test) some of the questions were really obvious like "what does this sign mean" (picture of a turning left sign, gee, I don't know??) but others were ones where my mom said "I have never seen this before in my life." I did pretty well on that but I get so panicky whenever I'm actually behind the wheel that I can never seem to get very far. And soon I'll have to take official lessons with some stranger which I'm really freaking out about because I don't want to panic in front of an instructor? I really don't want to do this and I wish I could just take public transit all the time instead.
Congrats! Ten pages is better than I've done in a long time.

Ugh I get that. I haven't actually gotten around to learning to drive, but a large part of why I haven't gotten around to it is because I panic around strangers and especially instructors and EVEN MORE ESPECIALLY in front of instructors one on one. I would love to just not drive but I also don't want to take a bus every time I need to get to the college.
Thanks, and I'm sure you'll get more into writing again!

I wouldn't learn how to drive if my parents weren't making me. I understand that it's an important thing to do but I really, really don't know how to do it. I'm super paranoid that I'm going to hurt someone and then I start thinking about how my fear will probably make things worse and it all kind of spirals from there. I tend to zone out often and I'm scared I'll do that when driving.
Thank you! I find that it's easier for me to write in the evenings so I'll try to work again soon. The stats say I need 985 words per day to reach my goal on time, which I think I can do.

Consider this: you can learn to drive, but you're not obligated to actually drive unless you really, really have to. And it'll probably be a whole lot easier when you don't have people in the car with you, so you can take time to get used to it on your own after you get your license if you want to at least try driving on your own.
985 isn't bad, so I think you'll be able to do it!

Haha, the problem is that my parents want me to build confidence in driving so they're going to make me drive everywhere. ahhh. I would prefer having people in the car with me because then they can tell me where to go, because I have no sense of direction and never know where I am or how I need to get to places. I'm sure that I'll get used to it eventually, but as someone who doesn't like change, it's going to be a rough transition.
Yeah, it's not too bad! Most days when I'm actually in the mood to write I can kick out about 2k a day, which is what I do sometimes over NaNoWriMo. I was going to write yesterday but then had a scare with my cat being sick, and that kind of ruined any chances I had of focusing. (She's better now! But that was... not fun.)

Yeah I can get not liking change. Only way to get through it is to persevere. I think you'll do just fine, and also use a GPS if at all possible.
Aw, no not the cat! Now that I've actually finished writing something, I apparently feel the need to write absolutely nothing for the next week lol.

I'm definitely going to need a GPS. Today we were going to a mall we go to all the time and I had to explain to my mom that I didn't know where we were, because usually when in the car I'm completely spaced out and have no idea where I am. ... that is probably a habit I should break
She's good now! They're on hypoallergenic food now because they've both been having stomach problems, and hopefully it will fix the problems. Congrats on finishing a thing! And haha yeah, I know the feeling.
