Hello! So basically I'm looking for someone to write a book with, preferably someone who has writing experience and is good with lightly adding details when needed and slowing the book down, since when writing I have a tendency to dump info on the readers and rush it in my excitement for the story, and rather I'm good at coming up with ideas, events and characters. I will also be trying to learn from you to improve writing on my own, so if you have writing mentoring experience that would be a plus but definitely not required. When actually planning and writing the book, I think we will try to have equal participation, maybe taking turns writing chapters or paragraphs (more roleplay-like for us), but also handing it off if one of us gets stuck.
So, is anyone interested? =^.^=

I've always wanted to write a book, maybe I need to make a thread like this haha, cuz I'm new with writing excluding roleplay

Anything really. I have the most ideas for fantasy stories, but have tried writing realistic ones too. World creation would also be interesting ~

That's perfectly fine! Since I have more experience with character and world creation it would probably balance out good ^^

If you're still looking I might, what kind of story do you have in mind?
Usually when co-writing I tend to say we layout plots and major dialogue chapter by chapter and then have two main characters and each write their perspective of the events and whatnot because it makes it feel more real with them being different because of different styles and voices

I once turned a sentence in my semi-detailed plot outline into 800 words, but then I'm not usually that good at it.
Something that I want to experiment with is the complete opposite of what it seems like you want to do-- I want to create a fast-paced action story with short, yet plentiful, chapters. Much like Maximum Ride.

Okay, I can do that, although I cringed at Maximum Ride, because while the plot is really good and the characters fairly developed the writing is lacking imo
So we need to come up with a general idea for it, do you want to talk characters or plot first?

I'm up for anything, though, so if you have any ideas we could try them out ^.^
That style actually sounds really cool, and I would love to try it! I'm actually currently reading a book that's a companion to another book I read, basically with the same events as the first book but from the other main character's perspective, and I think it's an interesting concept when writing a book or series.

I definitely think with proper plot and character creation books like that could work out well, though Maximum Ride did start to lack a bit towards the end of the series.

Im here yes, lol
And my favorite ever is dystopian but I'd like to branch out a bit
Preferably not horror bc I suck at it lol
I'm what people have said to be a very emotional intense writer so I'm really good with dealing with feelings especially tragedy kind of fics
Is there any kind that fascinates you?

oooh, what about a revenge story? I had one a while back that i kinda abandoned (although i plan to come back to it) and id love to do another revenge story that i actually stick with

Post by Brindleface on Mar 20, 2017 13:09:35 GMT -5
A revenge story could be cool, though I've never done anything like it. Would it be more of both of the main characters trying to get revenge on someone (kind of like in Eragon) or one of the main characters getting revenge on the other?
I'm hardly good with emotions in writing, so I'm glad that you'll be able to bring that into the story ^.^
Also sorry for poofing ~

You're fine, I'm working on a little project rn as well
and I think one trying to get revenge on the other would be really cool
also would you be able to use a different font or make it bigger? I have a hard time reading it

Ok, that could be really interesting ^^ I guess it would probably have to be in an enclosed setting, like high school, to work, so they run into each other often?

yea definitely, do we want it to be ordinary humans or should there be something ~special~ or paranormal about them?

Post by Brindleface on Mar 20, 2017 13:49:41 GMT -5
Something paranormal could be compelling. My mind immediately goes to superhero and villain, but I know there are a lot of other ways we could take it. Do you have any specifc ideas? Cause don't have anything else off the top of my head ^^'

well with the mention of maximum ride got me thinking what if one of the main character's (a) father did experiments on the other main character ( so character b wants revenge on character a's father but their father had disappeared and so character b decides to make character a's life a living hell "the sins of the fathers lays on their sons and daughters" kind of thing and then have a twist where character a's father did experiments on character a as well but character b doesn't know that well then once character b finds that out and realizes character a also hates character a's father then they team up to hunt him down and make him pay (so i guess at first character b tries getting revenge on character a and then realizes it's not character a's fault so they instead go after the real person at fault - character a's father)

That sounds really awesome actually XD I think it combines both versions of revenge really well, and the aspect of both characters almost hating each other to then teaming up could show a lot of their personalities.
So if you want to go with it, should we work on the characters or setting first?

characters, im looking at names rn, i think we shouldn't have any romance in it at all, especially between the main characters because i feel as if it'd take away the focus of the story
i really like latin names so im looking at those lol, looking for ones with meaning, first we should decide what these experiments did to them
|
|
|
Post by Brindleface on Mar 20, 2017 14:18:43 GMT -5
I agree with the romance. If anything, maybe they could have a more sibling-like relationship, and maybe later in the story another character comes in and one character starts to like them and the other main character gets kind of jealous/protective of them? And/or maybe the one character wants to tell the new character about their secret? Only if we did decide to add some romance later, in a way it wouldn't take over the story, also kind of like Maximum Ride.
I love Latin names too. I've used the name Cassia for a character before, of we want to consider it.
For experiments, do you think we should do more mutation or powers?
Also are we going with a girl and a guy for the main characters? Just so I can help look for names too ^^

|
|
Post by ❴ ғα∂ιηg ✦ яεαℓιтү ❵ on Mar 20, 2017 14:23:34 GMT -5
I think a girl and guy would be nice, you can pick which one's perspective you rather write, idc which one i do, and then we each get to design the one we're writing but while showing the other our progress that way we don't have basically same personality or looks lol
and maybe later on not to sure about adding any romance
and i was thinking like giving them animal genes and traits bc hybrids are cool, but let's not do like your average every day animals (wolves, birds, etc.) but ones that aren't normally done, and maybe a mixture of them so that it gives them special abilities

Post by ❴ ғα∂ιηg ✦ яεαℓιтү ❵ on Mar 20, 2017 14:24:54 GMT -5
and here are the names i really like that i'm looking at
female:
Avis Liliana Amalia Evalyn Lux
male:
Korbyn Fabian Quinton Porter Dexter

I think I'd rather write the girl's perspective, since I have more experience with it ^^' And that sounds good with the designing.
I also like the idea of doing more original hybrids. I've had a few characters like that before in roleplays, and might be able to remember some of the animals they were mixed with for ideas.
For those names, my favorites would have to be Avis and Porter ^^ A couple others I found that I like were Aelia and Livia (for the girl) and Lyco for the guy, though not that one as much ^^' I also found the name Dexsia, which is like Dexter, if we wanted them to match XD
