Bluewhisker twitched her whiskers, the only indication that she was amused by Yewpaw. "There is no reason to think; you did it. Simple," she meowed. She padded forward to inspect the vole. "A clean kill. You reacted in time to stop it and kill it with mercy. Well done," she said, dipping her head and mumbling thanks to StarClan for the prey.

Yewpaw glowed with pride, standing up straighter under Bluewhisker's praise. "Thank you Bluewhisker!" Her tail shot up, and she almost let out a purr like a kit in the nursery, or how mates did when they hung out. It made having to get her paws wet even more bearable, and a catch like this before leafbare would surely be useful for the clan!

Hickoryshade watched Yewpaw hunt with a silent yet calculating look. No surprise that Bluewhisker’s apprentice was skilled. If anything, it made her more hopeful to one day have Yewpaw on her side when they one day hopefully united the Clans.

“It’s practically a slash to the muzzle. They’re clearly swimming with prey while the rest of us have to scrap by.” Poppyclaw growled tersely as they walked, tail lashing angrily. “Riverclan’s always been spoiled like that. Fish can survive leafbare in ways other prey can’t. But I’d rather flay my own pelt than try and swim to survive.” He scoffed. Eaglenose had to agree. As annoying as it was to see RiverClan fat with prey in their bellies, he wouldn’t be satisfied with eating or catching fish. It was too wet and the fish had a weird taste. “I don’t know how they stand being wet all the time. To live with a damp pelt all the time is a nightmare.” Eaglenose said, shivering at the thought. “The fish they eat probably messes with their brains. Tempts them to go swimming like a fish.” Poppyclaw scoffed with a roll of his eyes, before he grew serious once more. “Careful. The slopes up here are wet from the water. We should take the ledge path up away from the river.”

"Bury that, and we will continue our hunt." Bluewhisker padded off to scent the air and see what she could find.

He nodded and followed him up the other path, tail swishing behind him. “I hope we get lucky hunting.” He commented.

The only prey that we can depend on to come back in normal numbers is birds. They aren't limited to the ground like the mice and squirrels can be. New birds can fly in from far away too. I say we focus our hunting in the tree tops." Poppyclaw looked up to where some of the oak trees towered nearby.

His claws slid out and scraped against the rocky ground. He narrowed his eyes as he tried to detect any significant movement in the trees around them. There. He had just spotted a robin flitting into the branches of a tree. He approached the tree and stood on his hind legs, digging his front claws into the bark, looking for the best path up. (Correct me if I got anything wrong lol. Also are we going to stay here or merge back to the main page?)

They had one chance to do this, and the stern tom swore that they would do it right. "Let's circle it, and get it to fly down to one of us. You want to climb, or should I?"

"Bury that, and we will continue our hunt." Bluewhisker padded off to scent the air and see what she could find. Yewpaw nodded, padding over to a slightly more dry patch of earth and burying the water vole just under the earth. Bluewhisker and Hickoryshade were both scenting the air now, looking to see if they could find anymore prey. Yewpaw padded slightly in the opposite direction, seeing if there was anything further down the bank.

(Don't forget to post border page news summaries on the Joining Page!)
Smokestorm led his patrol to the SkyClan border. He kept quiet the entire time, but wasn't the most alert as he was lost in thought.

Bluewhisker and Hickoryshade were both scenting the air now, looking to see if they could find anymore prey. Yewpaw padded slightly in the opposite direction, seeing if there was anything further down the bank. Yewpaw opened her mouth again, scenting the area. There! It was the scent of the water vole again, and Yewpaw confidently stalked it. Maybe to confidently, because when she went to leap for it, she misjudged her jump, scaring the prey away instead. "Darn!" She muttered, hoping that Bluewhisker or Hickoryshade hadn't been looking at her at that moment.

Hickoryshade had indeed seen the blunder, though she merely hummed with a hint of interest as she studied the apprentice's hunting technique. "Your paws are too loud, you're placing them too firmly before you make your lunge. Voles are very sensitive to vibration."

Bluewhisker came from some reeds by the water, carrying her own water vole. "Hickoryshade is correct. Shrews, voles, and mice will all feel you before they hear you," she instructed.

Yewpaw ducked her head in embarrassment, but listened to the advice of the older warriors. “Thanks. I’ll keep that in mind for next time.”

"I know you will," Bluewhisker said. "Try again."
She turned and padded away, trusting Yewpaw would catch another.

Yewpaw nodded, turning and risking getting a little bit closer to the river. It took a bit, but she finally caught the scent of another water vole. Keeping what the warriors had said in mind, Yewpww focused on her pawstepd, making sure they were light. Finally she caught sight of the vole, leaping and killing it cleanly. Yes! She let out a purr, padding back to where Bluewhisker and Hickoryshade were hinting. She didn’t want to disturb them, she instead she sat down a and watched them hunt, trying to keep note of their movements.

Bluewhisker crept expertly across the grass, grey eyes scanning where the bank dropped away towards the water. Spotting several holes, she waited until a tiny nose poked out. She waited longer, watching the water vole emerge and begin cleaning its face. Reaching down over the bank with one large paw, she hooked her quarry towards her and killed it with one clean bite.

Windclan/Shadowclan Border)>>
Waspflame padded silently through the muddied territory as he grimaced at each large puddle the patrol passed. He scowled, still thinking of how lucky it was that he and Lionscorch had caught Blossompaw and Scorpionpaw out of camp when they did. Luckily, nobody questioned it when all four of them returned to camp with Blossompaw's rabbit. He focused back on the patrol, eyeing the Thunderpath border with a hint of disdain. "Even this part is full of puddles. Even worse, the Monster waste makes it smell awful here."
Coalhaze glanced around with sharp eyes, before he seemed to chuckle. "Yuck. Let's make sure we don't step in any of those then! Oh, ew. There's a ton of Carrion on the thunderpath here." He complained, seeing countless pieces of Twoleg carrion and rotted lumps of fur that probably were once rats.

Oakfall nodded in agreement, passing his tongue around his jaws a few times as if chasing away a bad taste. "Gross!" he said. "Maybe Goldberry could find a use for it with his vulture-hunting skills, but I think most of us just find it nasty."
