(How have you been doing, Broken? ) (I’ve been ok, just trying to keep up with classes which has been stressful. I definitely can’t wait for winter break. How have you been?) (I feel like I've been through a tumble-drier this semester but it hasn't been too bad. I have a full (ish) working job. Not full time, but at least an assured part-time position for the remainder of my school career. What were you majoring in again, if you don't mind me asking? )

Snake glanced from the individual to the snake that was now around his neck. It hissed and the hybrid just nodded before looking at the lady in front of him. So this is why had been chasing him. At least she doesn't seem like a threat. "There's no need to be scared ma'am, I don't bite - says Oscar," Snake translated what his pet had said. He then offered the slightest smile, fumbling with his hands nervously. "A-anyway, I'm Snake. Are you lost, just like me?" Robin pushed a strand of dark violet hair behind one ear and slowly came closer to Snake. He seemed friendly enough. Her eyes flicked to the snake around the man's neck and then back to him, slightly confused, but didn't say anything yet. She stopped just a few feet away and placed a hand on her chest before giving a slight bow of greeting. "Well met, Snake. My name is Robin. And yes, I suppose I am also lost in here." She let out a sigh. "Lost and confused... not a foreign feeling for me I'm afraid."

Spinel's frown deepened into a small scowl at the chuckle, thrown a little off guard by it. She was still unused to that stuff- she wondered if he was laughing at her, if she was doing something wrong already- why not just tell her, then? Instead of laughing at her? Her frown softened at his explanation, however, as slight worry gradually filled her mind. So you could just disappear into this place? Was it that big? Spinel took a moment to glance around again, her expression now becoming, while still tense, also a little lost. "Oh." She said simply, still looking around with a hint of nervousness. Then, she took a deep breath, and, just as quickly as it had appeared, the worry seemed to harden on the former best friend gem's face; although it was still there, she was now actively trying to hide it. She let out a sigh, before mumbling, "Well, okie-dokie then..." Kuragehime A slight frown also flashed across the count's face as he picked up on her shift in emotion, though it was replaced in an instant by his usual placid smile. One foot shifted back slightly and he dipped his head to her. "My apologies if I frightened you, it was not my intention in the slightest," he said. "I just found the occurrence to be peculiar. Now, if you have any other questions I am afraid I will not be of much help to you, for I am also new to this... realm. Oh, but I am forgetting my manners." He gave a deep bow. "My name is Saint-Germain. I am honored by the title of count in France," he said, a well-practiced smile playing across his face. "However you need not address me so formally - just Saint-Germain is fine - especially considering our current circumstances."

KuragehimeSnake frowned as Robin spoke, especially because of what she had said last. He didn’t know what to say at first. He wasn’t the best at trying to comfort people, but he could at least try his best. He glanced at the green snake that was around his neck, mobbing slightly. “Ah, well if you’d like, you can always tag along with us. That is, if Snake’s ok with that. After all, we got separated from the pervious group we were with and we could use help with searching for clues since we aren’t making much progress, says Oscar.” The young man blinked away from his pet and back towards the lady in front of him, offering the tiniest smile as he waited for a response.

Spinel stepped back slightly, her frown faltering farther at the apology. Yep, definitely not used to this kind of stuff- it wasn't as though people were apologizing to her frequently these days. More like she was the one always messing everything up and saying sorry repeatedly. "Alright..." She muttered. The gem raised a slight eyebrow at the introduction, having no meaning of the word count nor of France. "Is that on Earth...?" She asked, making an attempt, before shaking her slight bewilderment off. "Alright," She repeated. "I'm Spinel- no title or anythin'." Kuragehime

brokenRobin glanced at the green snake then back at the face of the man that was supposedly speaking for it. Again, she wanted to ask but wasn't quite sure how to bring it up. Pushing the questions away again she smiled at Snake and nodded. "Well, I should let you know that I haven't quite made my decision yet," she said, pulling out the little note. "If that's still alright, then I would like to go along with you. We could still be of use to each other, and maybe going around a bit will help me come to a decision," she added with a light chuckle. ~~~ zeph!Wonder snuck onto the count's porcelain face at the stranger's question. "On Earth? Well, yes, it is... Ah, might you be from some other realm?" he replied, though it was phrased as more of a rhetorical question. "Anyway, it is a pleasure to meet you, Spinel. That is quite an interesting name you have - though I suppose I am not one to talk," he said with another light-hearted chuckle.

(Sorry this was late! <3) Spinel shrugged slightly and pointed to the upside down heart gleaming on her chest, before mumbling, "It's just my gem..." Although, she supposed, it wasn't as though Spinels were usual. At least, she'd never seen any others before. Why would there be another best friend gem in a militaristic empire, anyways? She was made for Pink, and that was that. Another slight frown tugged on her lips, before she looked around in an almost impatient manner. "So..." She mused softly, before speaking up. "You said you were lookin' at an antique, right? Was it like one in the letter, from a different world or somethin'? What's it look like?" Kuragehime

zeph!Saint-Germain's eyes followed where she pointed, though it was hard to tell with them being mostly closed, and he gave a very slight nod. "I see, interesting," he murmured. He wished to ask further but knew that it could come across as quite rude - plus he quickly pushed it away once Spinel asked about the antique. His face lit up and a genuine smile appeared on his face. "Well, I would love to show it to you. The vase is just at the end of the hallway. I believe it to be a piece of Japanese porcelain, which I suppose to you would be a different world, though I cannot quite pinpoint the vintage - " he cut himself off and glanced at her with a sheepish chuckle. "Ah, forgive me, I have a bad habit of rambling on and on when it comes to this topic."

Sally eyed him as if he was crazy. Well ... she'd kind of already decided that he was. "Yes, 'Sable's something'. Why didn't you choose anything?" It wasn't accusatory, it was just curious. Then with a small sigh, she added, "And I chose to find Sable's life. That's the actual word for it." She took out her own note and then frowned at it. Odd. She thought she remembered the wording being slightly different, but she couldn't remember what it had been said before. She squinted at it for a second. Then she looked up at Henry again. "As for a hint, it isn't like we're lacking time. I'm not sure if we've been set an impossible task that we'll never be able to complete or it's something reachable but very distant." She glanced at the walls and at the faint pictures within the picture frames on it. "Anything could be it." "Oh, I see." Henry looked at her and nodded, then shrugged. "I dunno, I guess I didn't realize how long it would take to find the thing that we need to find. I just wanted to see what being dead was like before choosing my option," he said with a snicker. He looked at the paper again. "But I was gonna choose Sable's Life... wait, but then would we be competing over it? It says one person.... I thought there was a group option earlier.... Aw maaan." (I honestly totally missed this. o.o Sorry Hime!) "So your main desire for staying in this place is so you can stay dead," said Sally, her voice completely deadpan. No, no, actually there was a bit of a reaction. She sounded a bit nonplussed. Then her eyes widened. "Wait? There was a group option ..." She reached into a pocket and pulled out her own piece of paper. She read through the sheet, then read through it again. She didn't completely remember what it had said, but she had sworn she had read a completely different piece of paper than the one she had when she had arrived. "What is this!" She said, astonished. Then she looked at Henry. "Let me see your paper!" she demanded. There had to be a mistake of some sort. This was strange.

</div>As Newt jumped in, it became immediately clear that nothing had grabbed Mei - rather, the both of them were being swept rapidly downward by an incredibly strong current, the water itself holding them tightly captive as they were pulled further and further underwater. Mei was terrified. Her eyes were screwed shut, and she clamored blindly around in the dark, desperately reaching for any grip on the walls she could use to pull herself back up. She could feel herself running out of air - she'd had the presence of mind to hold her breath, but her lungs were burning, screaming for air, and every instinct was telling her to draw breath. No, that would make her drown faster. Drown...she was going to drown. She was going to drown down here, and... She caught hold of something that was Newt's pant leg, though she didn't know it. Desperate, she clung onto whatever it was, nails digging in as she clutched desperately at the only solid thing she could see as she began to try and climb up it. But she couldn't...the current was too strong, and she couldn't get a good enough grip to climb. She was starting to feel lightheaded...she couldn't hold her breath much longer. Surely she couldn't. And then, just when she'd thought she couldn't hold her breath even a second longer, the tunnel ended, dumping Mei, Newt, and several hundred gallons of water onto a hard wooden floor. Mei hit the floor hard and rolled over, coughing, choking and gasping as she desperately tried to bring in air and expel the water caught in her lungs. Her limbs were shaking, and she felt too exhausted to even get up, so for a long moment, she just lay there, trembling and sputtering and trying to think past the pounding in her skull and the burning in her nose.

Rudy nodded as the boy agreed that they were almost at the indicated location. His eyes scrolled around the area, as the supposed area was literally within inch. there was no sign, no indication, it just looked like the rest of the trail. Well... the trail was going up hill, so maybe there was something on the other side? He looked over towards Conan, "Up the hill and we'll be there." He softly stated, making his way up hill. Every step he took up hill, he could feel gravity forcing him downwards. Every step he took, his heart pounded a lot louder, more aggressive, much more heavier then the last. ANd then finally, they made it to the top. It seemed like they had acomplished a lot-more like the big goal. He looked over his shoulder, before turning his entire attention to everything that was before him. It didn't seem entirely normal, it was tall various shades of green grass blowing against the wall. The trail was various shades of color stone shards below them. Heading further down was a large body of moving water-that's right black and white water that moved in artificial textures, odd shades and not normal movements. Initially everything seemed to be in place. By this point in their walk-and the wind was physically blowing as the white lines went against the air. Yet his attention returned to the large body of black and white water, actually.. "H-Hey.." Rudy softly asked. "Water is still blue right?" There was more wrong with the body of water. It was moving in manerisms that were unreal, and just swayed in ways that were unnormal. Furthermore, the body of water was black and white, AND moving slowly towards them. Rudy's confidence wasn't mirrored in Conan's expression, but he was willing to give the boy the benefit of the doubt. Over the hill. Alright. They'd give it a go. He started up the hill, slightly surprised that there was less entertain than he expected. Gravity still seemed to be working, but there didn't seem to be any overly pressing desire to stop. Maybe it was just that 'no being alive' thing. Part of him didn't want to buy that claim, but it was either believe that or that this was all magic ... either way was just as unbelievable. Then there was the top. Rudy might have considered it some sort of completed goal, but Conan just grimly considered it another step in a long line of things to do. It felt like there was so much more ahead. "More strangeness," he mused, looking out at what there was to view beyond the crest of the hill. Which was more color - or in the case of the water lack of color. Then he paused. He'd noticed that water too. That it wasn't normal. Oh, not so much the color. Everything here seemed to be a brightly colored or oddly colored version of itself. But how it was moving was not normal. He was reminded of how Sable moved. How unnatural it was. Like something trying to mimic a real person. This water wasn't water. No more than Sable was a human. "Water is supposed to be blue," Conan confirmed in a low voice. Should they run? At least move away? He took a step back ...

<Raintalon>Mei might have had the foresight to remember to hold her breath - or the instinct to - but Newt did not. For several seconds, in almost free-fall and then a torrent of pressing water, he tried to breath. But all that came into his lungs was water. Choking water, deadly water. There was no way to expel it without loosing his only source of air. He lost sight of which way was up or down, though after a second he was aware of Mei's hand on the cuff of his pant leg. Not like he was aware that it was Mei - he was too panicked to make that connection - so he almost kicked out at her, thoughts of snakes and water creatures momentarily in his mind. Then his own head caught up with him and that very thought that had scared him calmed him down. If it was some water creature, than struggling was the last thing he should do. Then he hit the ground, vision whiting out for a second, noise and pain pulsating through him before he coughed and spluttered and spit out what felt like a gallon of water. He lay face down on the cold, wet floor and focused on breathing, unable to think of anything else.

Mei sat up slowly, every muscle in her body aching, and coughed again, wincing against the sting in her nose and throat. Drowning would not be a good way to die, she decided firmly, and then realized that the fuzz in her head was being caused not only by her near-death-by-drowning, but by the fact that her left eye was being flooded with dizzying, shifting color from every angle. Startled, and immediately panicked that Newt would see the glassy sheen to the fake eye now exposed by her fall, she clapped a hand over the left side of her face, looking frantically around for the missing patch. Why wasn't it here...had it been caught on something up in the tunnel? The thought of losing her eye patch made her almost more anxious than the idea of having nearly drowned, and she fought against panic, scanning all over the soaked floor for any sign of the object.
Then, finally, she saw it, washed to the far end of the room by the torrent. Quickly, she scrambled for it, slipping on the water in her haste as he hand closed around it and she wrapped it, more securely this time, around her ear so it covered her eye completely. Her shoulders slumped in relief, and then tensed again as she suddenly remembered her companion. She turned, moving a little more slowly this time so she wouldn't fall, and retuned to his side, kneeling down next to him and holding her hands in her lap for lack of anywhere else logical to put them in her worry. "Are you okay?" she asked quietly, her visible eye flitting over him as if looking at his bedraggled figure would give her an answer.

<Raintalon>"I feel dead now," Newt said, voice a low, coughing rumble in his throat. As soon as he said it, he realized speaking had been a mistake. He started coughing, water pooling around his mouth and dripping off his hair as he shifted. He'd noticed Mei's missing eyepatch and how she had frantically tried to get it back, but for the time being he wanted to get the water out of his lungs first. Coughing hurt, but not a lot. He knew that several things about almost drowning had felt odd - he had almost been drowned by kelpies several times before so he knew how it felt - but he was pretty sure he was supposed to be having far more problems than he currently was. He lifted his head after a second, propping himself up into a sitting position and then looking at Mei. "Why were you so concerned about that eyepatch?" he asked, curiosity making him forget things like the common courtesy of asking how she was. Or the forethought of looking around the room to see where both of them had ended up.

Get well soon hime!! mintedstar/fur ) Mei relaxed, letting out a relieved little huff of breath as Newt began to talk. He was coughing, but that was good, right? They wanted the water out of his lungs, not in. "Do you want to know....?" she asked slowly, fixing him with an odd look as he asked about her eyepatch. Then, she glanced away from him, visible eye moving to survey the rest of the room. "I dislike being questioned," she said shortly, in a voice that wasn't an expression of annoyance so much as it was a statement of fact. Then, she stood up, satisfied that he would live(well, sort of), and brushed herself off, hands slipping on her soaked clothes. She shivered. "We should leave," she said, sliding her foot around in one of the many puddles that covered the floor. "Maybe your suitcase is around here, somewhere."

(I caught it from you, Hime! It's all your fault. XD ) <Raintalon>"Where's somewhere?" asked Newt, not really liking how she'd brushed off the question so easily. He slowly got to his feet, his head tilting a bit and trying to shake a bit of the water off his clothing. It didn't work out very well; he was still a sopping mess. "Coming," he said after a second, following after Mei while looking out of the corner of his eyes at what was around them. It ... wasn't that impressive. He had no idea where they were. After landing on the floor, he'd almost expected to be in some underground cavern, but instead there just seemed to be a cleft cut into the floor where the roaring trail of water fell into and then ran away down a corridor. Beside that, it looked like another hallway in the museum. "What would you suggest we do?" he asked Mei, really wanting to ask about the eyepatch again, but too distracted to completely focus on it.

Rudy eyed Conan briefly with a questionable look, the other boy was doubting this. Maybe he should be too? "Well, we made it to the X." He tried to sound optimistic. "But I have no clue as to whether it's a good thing or not." He looked over at the moving water, at least it looked like a body of water. The other boy, did bring up an important fact, Water was normally blue. Oh thank goodness, same color for both of us. I didn't want to be the oddone He would have set a sigh of relief, but the other boy brought up an important question.
"Run.." he softly repeated, looking at the body of distorted black and white body of water approaching. It was at the bottom of the hill, but it seemed to be coming. he took an unconscious step back. "As much as I want to stick around, and explore it.." Rudy softly trailed out. "Maybe, it be best we um... go anywhere that isn't here?" He took another step back.
In the background, the large distorted mass of black and white, was rising elevation, as water to a cup. It was approaching , and that was the reality.

mintedstar/fur ) "I don't know," said Mei simply, glad he seemed to have dropped the eyepatch line of questioning for the time being. She paused at the entrance to the hallway, turning back to address Newt's second question. "My suggestion is that we find a room with suitcases in it," she said, and though the words themselves may have seemed blunt and even mocking, her tone, as usual, suggested nothing of the sort. Then, having given Newt very little to go on, she began to walk down the hall, a plan forming in her mind. They were a floor down from where she'd seen the suitcases, so the first thing to do would be to find some stairs, or a ladder, and get back up on the floor above them. It didn't occur to her to voice her plan to Newt, though. The man could tag along if he wanted.

<Raintalon>"Ah, I see," Newt said. He didn't seem to be offended, though he did shift where his eyes were looking, looking away toward Mei's shoulder and maybe a bit further past her rather than anything close to her face. "Seems like a good idea," he muttered, glancing around here and there with a small breath catching in his throat every time he thought too much about what they had been through. Newt did tag along, but still shuffled forward enough that he was shuffling along next to Mei rather than beside her. The hallway seemed different from upstairs. It was open. No or little stuff dotted the way. This wasn't making picking a direction any easier however. So when Newt's foot hit a ring, which skittered across the floor, it was of slight interest. "Is that yours?" he questioned Mei, looking after it.

mintedstar/fur ) Mei turned, drawing in a sharp breath as she heard the noise of the ring skittering across the floor, and then relaxed once she realized it was just another of the many scattered trinkets scattered around everywhere. This place was so full of traps...it was making her jumpy. And she wasn't usually a jumpy person in the slightest. "Not mine," she said, shaking her head as she knelt down, picking up the small object and rolling it around in her hand. "It's expensive. Handmade, I think. I wonder who it belonged to..." She wondered about things like that a lot, here. The objects, at least some of them, probably came from other dead people like them. Some of them were probably thrown away on purpose, by people who decided they no longer had need of desk chairs or hairbrushes in the afterlife, but some, like the little golden ring she was holding in her palm, were probably important to whoever had lost them. So it was almost like holding a piece of whoever it had belonged to. She knew that thought would spook most people, but mostly, she just found it interesting to think about.
