((...Okay, I don't know what's going on. I remember typing a reply to that post but it is nowhere to be seen. Gah. Apologies.))
"Make no mistake, I wouldn't hesitate to do a thing to him that I would to do any other prisoner. That he's my brother is no consequence. He's a traitor, a deserter, and he must be treated as such." Schreod stroked his chin in contemplation. "If you think you can help get some information on what he's been doing, his experiences over these last years, you have my permission to speak to him. Use whatever methods you like. But give it at least until tomorrow."
The soldier was dedicated to his cause but quite young and in fact fairly softhearted. "That's not for you to know," he said gently without turning to look at the young girl's eyes, which he suspected were producing tears by this point.

(Don't apologize. I've heard that the forums have been giving little hiccups for the past week.)
Archer nodded. "I'll do my best. There's a good chance that he would be more open to your since you are his brother, but he may just need a little coaxing before he feels ready to talk. I'll be sure get the information as quickly as possible without tormenting him too much. He may be useful to use later as well."

"B-but h-he's hurt," Destiny said, feeling her tears running down her eyes again as fear for Kurt returned. "Y-you'll at least help him, r-right?" Now that the excitement of things had died down, she felt her arms aching from were rubble had hit her as it fell, leaving behind several bruises and a few scrapes. Luckily, she hadn't been hurt too badly, and the only thing she might need checking about was the amount of smoke she breathed in.

((No. I think I asked if you were okay with setting the plot a few years back and you never responded.))
Schreod nodded. "Agreed. Don't break your back over him, though; he's not worth that." He folded his hands. "There is still the matter of the girl, though. I don't know her, but I've read her file. She wasn't with us long before she betrayed the RK, dragging my brother and a young child with her. She seems... very stubborn. Unreceptive. I'd already be about ready to give up on any gentler methods, except that my brother seems to care for her."
The soldier briefly closed his eyes, pinched the bridge of his nose, sighed softly. "Yes," he said encouragingly. "Of course we will. We'll make sure he gets through this."

"I'll start with your brother, and if we need to, we can let her watch his interrogation. Maybe if she starts fearing her own safety, she'll be more willing to talk," Archer mused. If that doesn't work, then we'll try something different."

The soldier's answer seemed to help ease some of Destiny's worry, but not all of it. She nodded her head and turned her gaze back to where Kurt laid, cradling her right arm, the one that had been shot with the dart and hit with the most rubble, in her lap.

"We've got all the time in the world," Schreod agreed. "Good man." He rose then, saying, "My paperwork calls me. Good afternoon, Archer."
The soldier gave the little girl a sidelong glance. "You're not hurt too, are you? If you are, now's the time to speak up."

"Oh, I won't be speaking with him again today. And tomorrow I'm booked. Give him the rest of the day to stew in his juices, then go in tomorrow. Shoot me an email as to when. I probably won't be able to observe, but I'd like to know anyhow." With one last nod of farewell, he exited the room.
The soldier raised one hand to get the attention of one of the nurses in the vehicle, pointing to the girl next to him and then to his own arm. She approached quickly and knelt in front of the girl, reaching out towards the arm she was cradling.
((What's the injury exactly?))

The following day...
Felix was already losing his mind. His only visitors had been a nurse come to perform some physical checks and bring him dinner last night, and some guy with breakfast this morning. Neither of them had spoken to him beyond "Turn your head left" and "Reach forward to touch your toes" and the like. They wouldn't tell him where Jennette was. And he was still cuffed to his bed.
The nurse smiled reassuringly and rolled her sleeve back to examine the arm. After a few minutes of stretches and close inspection, she said, "The bone in your arm might be a little bit broken. It's nothing too bad. I'm going to put it in a splint until we can do an X-ray. Till then, keep it as still as possible, okay?"

Felix looked up as the door opened, expecting some guard or aid carrying a tray of food, and was surprised to see instead a tall man in an officer's uniform. He couldn't tell much else without putting on his glasses, which he did, though the large crack they had sustained in the bombing annoyed him to no end. He sat in the cot, surveying his visitor, waiting for him to speak.
The woman did a little first aid and returned to Kurt, and after about thirty minutes of driving, the vehicle stopped. The back immediately opened up and they rolled Kurt out towards the base, while the same nurse from before hung back, telling Destiny, "We're going to get your arm checked out, and then we'll show you where you'll be staying."

(No, I haven't. It sounds interesting though. What's it about?) Basically it's a series about shapeshifters. I was just wondering because it does a pretty good job of addressing technical questions we've tried to figure out about how our shapeshifters work.
