{Yeah. But before we do that, should she be released at the trial or still found guilty?}

The morning after Cain had left, Arabella had awoken to the sound of the creaking cell door. She can only imagine what was to come, and she couldn't see much hope. The two guards grabbed her by her wrists and bound them together, making sure she can't escape. They then led her out of the dungeons, and barked orders at her such as, 'walk faster', 'walk slower', and more similar to those. She obeyed, as it was pointless to fight back now. They lead her through the castle and to where she expected her trial to be, the throne room. The royals were sitting in their seats, of course, and the advisors flanked them on the sides. But, Cain wasn't there yet. She was deeply upset and was tempted to seek him out but knew that the guards would only bring her back here. It appeared though, that the entire room was waiting for Cain to arrive, as no one had uttered a word. Perhaps all royals needed to be present for the trial. Which, was fine with Arabella. It was a stall for time so she could think up what else she needed to say.

The doors to the room opened, and silence fell as Cain swept into the room. His elegance today was unchallenged; completely cleaned of mud, his hair beautiful and silky as it breezed behind him with his quick stride. He wore the typical laced garnments of the royals in this place, the colour of his shirt a deep blue, the lacing gold thread; his trousers were black and skin-tight, and he wore polished black boots. His eyes were lined with Kohl, and he wore his crown on top of his head. He silently passed Arabella without even glancing at her, his air of regality unchallenged in his focus to the throne. He turned and angrily sat down on his throne, to the right of Jora, who sat in the King's place. Cain crossed his legs and sat lazily in his chair, immediately examining his fingernails just to spite his uncle, who shot him an angry glare, before standing up and clapping his hands. 'Let the trial begin.' He announced, sitting back down. The person leading it turned and faced Arabella. 'Arabella, you are charged with the unlawful kidnapping and needless endangerment of our Crown Prince, Cain Morte. How do you plead?'

BloodroseArabella was slightly hurt at how Cain walked passed her without a glance but had a small glimmer of hope that it was all part of some act. She closed her eyes for a brief moment to gather herself, as she prepared for what was to come. Her eye lids fluttered open as she heard them call out her charges. "Not guilty to second charge." She replied in a mostly steady tone. Arabella couldn't help that her voice wavered a little at the end, she knew she only has a slim chance of winning this. And in the likely event that she lost, Arabella was not looking forward to being tortured. No person in their right mind would.

And so it began; someone arguing against her case, and another for, as was custom. About an hour into the affair, Cain finally got to his feet, and the room fell silent to listen. 'Arabella was following the orders of the king from her own kingdom. Arabella is not a part of our kingdom; she was simply being loyal to her own.' 'Then that makes her nothing but a thief, and still guilty.' Jora argued back, also getting to his feet. Cain glared and turned to face him, looking up at him with a stubborn expression. 'Arabella stole me from my cell and returned me to my people.' He announced. 'That makes her a hero to our kingdom.' 'Does one crime really outweigh another? That makes her a TRAITOR to her OWN kingdom.' Cain hissed with frustration, and resisted the urge to stomp his foot like a child. 'This woman has caused no harm to me! She fed me, saw to my every need whilst I was locked away and left for dead; she brought me outside information of the goings-on in my kingdom, and ensured that I was fully cared for and knowledgable of the outside world! Tell me how that warrants her death, Uncle, because without her help, you would not have gotten to see your favourite Nephew again.' He spark gleamed in Cain's eyes, and Jora tensed at his words, before a menacing smile flickered across his lips. 'How true.' He purred, cupping Cain's cheek. The prince tensed with fear. 'Of course, you're right...' he looked up at Arabella. 'Mayhaps we should award her.' He looked at him coldly. 'Sit down.' He murmured. Cain slowly returned to his seat, trying to look indifferent. 'Young Arabella here shall be awarded with a place in our kingdom, and a job in the court of this palace!' no- no, don't drag her into the court. She'll never survive. The court is more vicious than the outside world. Cain thought in a panic, his eyes wide. she'll be eaten alive! Jora smiled slowly. 'Arabella will serve our beautiful princess Aila as her first and foremost Handmaiden.' A chorus of applause broke out across the room, and an uncomfortable expression appeared on Aila's face; but when Jora looked at her, it turned into one of delight and thanks as she curtseyed to him. 'How wonderful,' she said, trying to sound excited.

Arabella had wanted to speak up and say something since the beginning of the trial, but she was never given the opportunity to. She was always interrupted or Jora went straight to the point that she kidnapped Cain. Which she did, of course, but he was cared for while she watched after him. He was interested best care that was possible for her to give at the time. He wasn't sick, just tired and thin. Which, she was too. But she felt relief as Cain made a stand for her in the end. He did make an excellent point but so did Jora. So, she supposed for her to serve as a servant or in the court or whatever they called it, was a good enough punishment. She had practically no freedoms, and could be sentenced to whatever punishment they liked while she served them. But when Cain looked afraid almost at the proposition, confusion crossed her features. Was there something she should be concerned about? Arabella had never worked in the palace, she did more field work more than anything. But she needed to talk with Cain, and see what exactly was going on. As of now, she felt like a lost puppy.
{Sorry, was at the store}

Jora adjourned the meeting and took his leave, glaring at Cain as he passed. Cain looked at his twin in a panic, the two sharing a look as they came together and began to speak in quick, hushed tones. Aila then straightened and waved Arabella over, flicking black hair from her face- one of the things that set her apart from her brother.

Arabella had absolutely no idea what to do with herself as of now. She did serve her kingdom, but not like a servant. She worked for them in ways servants didn't, and she had only been inside of her king's castle twice so this was a new world to her. She was relieved yet taken aback when Cain's sister waved her over. She narrowed her eyes in her direction out of suspicion before actually moving. And even then, she treaded carefully. It was nice not having guards behind her to shove her along when she was moving what would be considered 'too slow'. "Uh...yes?" She asked, unsure how to address her.

'Call me ma'am.' Aila said, immediately setting her straight, before lowering her voice. 'Look; we have a lot to discuss if we're keeping you safe,' she murmured. 'Come to my room; you'll be staying there from now on anyways. Cain, I'll see you later.' 'Please look after her,' he croaked, looking pained. Aila looked at him warily. 'Don't... don't let him hurt you too much.' Cain looked away, shame on his face, before shoving his hands into his pockets and leaving the hall, chewing his bottom lip. 'This way, Arabella.' Aila said, leading her away and down a corridor.

Arabella didn't respond to her comment about calling her ma'am. She could say that she was new at this and use that as her excuse to not address her properly for about a week. Even though she held no quarrel with Cain, his family rubbed her the wrong way. What shocked her the most was that Cain convinced his sister to keep her safe. She assumed serving someone else besides Cain would hell but it may be half as bad as what she thought it was. Arabella followed silently behind the princess, assuming walking next to her would be an insult to the princess's status. When they arrived at her room though, Arabella tried not to marvel at it. She didn't exactly have a lot of money despite the missions she did. And now that she was a servant, she really didn't have any money. "What is it you wish to discuss?"

Aila closed the door and locked it, then pushed the curtains closed over it to further muffle sound. She closed the curtains to her window, shut and locked her bathroom door, then shut and locked the door that led to the head handmaidens bedroom- which now belonged to Arabella- just in case somebody were hiding. She quickly checked around her room, then turned to face her. 'Jora just dropped you into the most dangerous position to hold, other than Royal, in this castle.' She said, her eyes wide. 'Look, I'll do my best to protect you Arabella, but it's now you against the rest of the people in the castle- every servant and maid wants the position you currently hold. You hear everything that spills from my lips, you know every going-on in the castle, you own every maid and servant that serves my faction of the castle. You have one of the most powerful positions here.' She sat down on the bed. 'You need to know you can trust nobody else but me, Cain, and Lucius.'

Arabella gave her a confused look when she mentioned the people she could trust. "Why would I trust the child who gave me away? I would have been out of here by now if it wasn't for him. I wouldn't be in the best situation either but at least I wouldn't be here." She shut her mouth immediately after speaking, knowing she shouldn't say say anything about the royals that was negative. Especially now that she worked for them. Bloodrose

Aila's eyes narrowed. 'Lucius saw the person who kidnapped his big brother and reacted accordingly. He's but a child; would you expect anything else?' She sat herself down on the bed. 'Look; just do your job, keep out of trouble, and try not to get involved with the other slaves, and you'll be fine.'

So I'm a slave now? Arabella thought in an irritable fashion. But she merely clenched her jaw and did not give a retort. Her temper was something she needed to work on. "Yes, your highness." She said through clenched teeth. "What is it exactly that I am to do? You haven't exactly given a specific task." She told her, with the most level tone she could muster.

'Mundane girly things you might do with a sister.' Aila replied. 'The other maids change my bedsheets and run my bath; you mainly just ensure I look presentable in public and help me maintain my appearance. You'll accompany wherever I need to go and you'll be involved in any parties I attend.' She noticed Arabella's attitude, and her own expression darkened to one of anger. 'And don't even think about getting pissy with me. You're very lucky to even be alive. You have no idea what it's been like without Cain. I thought my twin brother was dead because of you; yet here he is, alive, telling me in panicked tones to take care of his captor.' She stood and drew her dress around her angrily. 'In all honesty, right now I would love nothing more than to push you out of the nearest window, but because you have returned him in one piece I am giving you the shadow of a doubt and listening to him. So change your attitude. You could be in a much worse position; like I've already said, you currently hold one of the most powerful positions in this castle.' She walked over to her desk and sat down at it, starting to remove her jewellery. 'I don't want to spend every waking moment of my day accompanied by a woman who hates my guts; the whole point of a handmaiden is to be a companion, somebody I can speak to and whom in turn can come to me with any problems.'

Arabella could never come to anyone else with her problems. Cain was the only person she could see herself turning to for anything. They held one another up during their hellish time in her kingdom and crossing over the border. She could never speak to anyone like how she did as she was locked up, and she only did so because she believed she was done for that night. Arabella wasn't sure if she could speak to Cain like that again in all honesty, it seemed to be a spur of the moment sort of thing. The princess's concerns about her brother were understandable, but after what Cain had said, that Arabella had cared for him as best as she could at the time, she would have assumed the royals would have lightened up a little. Alas, it was not to be that way. She was given a powerful position, which she would not have minded under other circumstances. But now she really understood why they gave her this position. She was a criminal, and a new comer who recieved a good position that the other servants have worked their whole lives for. Jealousy is sure to come her way, and she could see herself being killed by the other servants than an executioner. "I suppose I can understand where you're coming from." She told the princess without the attitude she did have. "My brother was in a similar situation, but it ended differently." Arabella tried to he as vague as possible. It wasn't her buisness about Arabella's life story.

Aila seemed to relax as Arabella spoke to her instead of arguing, making it clear that this woman despised any kind of conflict in her presence. 'That's unfortunate to hear.' She replied, letting her hair fall from the bun it was in. 'I'll visit Cain as much as possible so you can both speak when necessary, and when I can't it'll be up to you to listen to the whisperings of the castle.' She looked at her, fear in her eyes. 'I think Jora is going to kill him.'

Arabella didn't meet her gaze when Aila expressed her sympathy. She instead looked at the curtain concealed windows and shrugged. She did not want anyone's sympathy, as they didn't really understand the circumstances. Arabella looked at the princess with a raised eyebrow. She was obviously quote trusting if she already started speaking about her concerns. She figured it would have taken a few weeks, but judging by what she already knew about Aila, it should have been expected on her part. She found herself standing at attention and keeping her gaze steady. "It's seems like a logical move on his part." Arabella knew that sounded terrible especially when her tone wasn't laced with the concern she felt on the inside. She almost sounded indifferent.

Aila, however, appeared to both respect and require this; she didn't need someone else flapping about like an idiot when she was already in the midst of doing so. 'I'm not sure how he's going to do it. I'm trying my best to figure out the type of person he is but it's difficult. I've already ruled out poison, he's not the type and it can be traced back to him.' She chewed her bottom lip, sighing and looking at the floor. 'I just need to keep Cain safe.' She fiercely said. 'My brothers are the only family I have left.' She looked up at Arabella. 'I refuse to have them killed by some self-righteous little-' she stopped herself before she lost her composure, instead coughing and running a hand through her curls.

Bloodrose"B******?" Arabella finished Aila's sentence for her. She wasn't sure if she could speak about a noble in such a way, but then again, it wasn't her, it was Aila. She merely helped...process her thoughts. "I would give my input but I highly doubt it would be appreciated by anyone." She told Aila in the same indifferent tone. Arabella hated the way Jora touched Cain, she wanted to step between them and fight the noble that was ruling. She didn't want anyone touching Cain really, she worried about his safety around Jora as well. But say it was a woman who was doing that to Cain, she wouldn't be in this kingdom anymore to say the least. Not with Arabella around. "I say just prepare for the worst with Cain." Was she allowed to say his first name and not 'the crowned prince'? She would figure it out eventually though, so tried not to stress about it. "I can help. Not only am I entitled to, but he is my friend. I have experience in these sort of things."
