( im SAVAGE AS HELL )
Oliver smiled as he picked gravel from his hands, flicking it away idly.
"Accident prone," he told her in a serious tone, ducking his head, "that's how it goes. I think I'll be okay, though. I've had much worse," he smiled. "I forgot how violent America could be. It's fairly intimidating."
( gah im so sorry for this shortass post )

(Thats amazing Blue about the id thing XD XD XD) "Do you want anything? Antiseptic or something? I'm prepared you know," She responded with a joking laugh. "Yeah, it can get pretty violent at times," She added with a shrug, watching as the sun set slowly. It was still hard to believe, that the sun was setting so early in the day. Her phone vibrated again, another text from her mother no doubt. She frowned, checking the text quickly, one that gave her a time to be home.

"I think I'll be okay, I have supplies at the apartment," Oliver smiled faintly and raised his eyebrows. "You speak Spanish? I guess it's only fair to trade languages. I speak Norwegian, obviously, and Mandarin. My mamma's Chinese," he smiled faintly, shoving his hands into his pockets and barely wincing. "English isn't my strong suit."

She gave him a grin, " Thats neat! I've always wanted to learn Mandarin.I speak Spanish and English, but my first language is Sign," She told him, messing with her bracelet momentarily, not sure what exactly to do with her hands. "My mom is deaf, and she was never verbal so everyone thought I was deaf because I didn't really start learning english 'till fifth grade." She explained. She had been homeschooled for awhile, and when she went to public school they just assumed she was deaf because she never spoke a word and only communicated in sign. (Nice, Skul. Lucky you have a hardcore liver lol it'll be nice to sleep in. What time is it for you??)

( gotta love the genes its nearly 5am omg )
"Sign," Oliver repeated, thinking about it. "Oh! My youngest sister speaks in sign. Well. Norwegian sign, but sign. She's mute, though, so I guess she learned it for different reasons," he frowned thoughtfully. "I'm not fluent in Norwegian sign, but I know enough to get me by, I guess. She gets excited easily and signs too fast and then it's a mess," he smiled faintly, "she's a good kid, though."

(Omg so early. Way to early lol) "Oh really? Does she live here? I would love to speak with her, it would be nice to learn to sign in other languages. Maybe you could teach me what you know?" She asked, interested, but she nodded, smiling a little bit at his comment of her signing too fast. "Yeah, that happens a lot. Sometimes I do that too, its not a problem when signing with other people who know it, but for others... Its hard to understand." She said, chuckling. It had been a while since she had signed with someone fluent in sign, and she missed it. Her best friend back in Atlanta was mute, so she was able to talk with her like that but now... Well, it was just uncomfortable trying to sign fast with her mother, she would always get in trouble for that.

"Ja, she lives here," Oliver nodded. He then made a few slow gestures, tip of his tongue sticking out as he did so. "That means - wait no. I just said something inappropriate," he shook his head and tried again, "there we go. That means, 'hei, mitt navn er Oliver'. You probably wouldn't put Oliver, though. You'd put," he took a moment to sign, "T-O-R-I. Yes. That," he looked vaguely apologetic. "I don't use these signs often. I usually sign to her to tell her to stop eating my food."
His sibling relationships were adventurous.

"I said that your mother was something completely inappropriate," he grimaced. "She's only seven, but she knows how to insult someone better than I do."
Oliver smiled faintly. It was...nice, in a way, to see someone who was actively willing to try to communicate with his baby sister, even if she hadn't met her yet. Though Eva didn't get along very well with Maja, she got along very well with Oliver; the two were thick as thieves, and had been since Eva had been born. (Maja, on the other hand, was quite determined to outshine her older brother in as many ways as she could, and had succeeded).
"She does," he said grimly, "one time I decided to take packed lunch to school and I got there and bam - it was taken. Eva left a note saying that she was sorry but my food was nicer than hers."

Tori let out a snort, knowing how easy it was to insult someone in sign... Really just a misplacement of a finger could be the difference between a compliment and an insult. She smirked at the story of her stealing his lunch.. She must be a sneaky one then. "I would love to meet her, she sounds like a funny kid," She responded, wishing she had siblings that she could be close with... She was an only child, she had two step siblings, yes, but they where best not to be talked about. They where barely a part of the family honestly, and thats the way everyone liked it. Maybe I could help Eva learn American sign for school, she thought, excited at the prospect of teaching someone else sign.

"She's good," Oliver nodded eagerly. "Maja's awful, though - she's the one who tries to grab fish. She's in her tween years, and she thinks she's hot stuff," he grimaced. "She likes to make fun of the fact that I have more of an accent than her. Britt is fourteen and goes to a public school, she's not so bad? A little catty, maybe, but she lives in a family of girls, so that's...not unreasonable of her. Astrid is my older sister and still lives with us, like the freeloader she is, but she's looking into college, I think," he was too aware that he was rambling, but it was nice. "She's twenty, kinda mean at times."
Astrid and Maja followed in his mother's footsteps in calling him Silje, but that wasn't something he'd mention. It didn't matter; for all Tori and Alex knew if they actually did come to his house on Christmas Eve, Silje could be a Norwegian word. It didn't matter.

"So many girls in the house, how can you take it?" Tori asked, watching him ramble, amused. She preferred listening to other people talk anyways, it was a good way of getting to know them. She was never much of a talker to begin with- neither in English or in Sign. She climbed onto a wall, walking on it as if it where a tight rope, imagining what it would be like if there where that many girls in the house at once. It took all of her patience with living with one other female, let alone five of them including his mother. She turned around, waiting for his response.

Oliver considered it thoughtfully, paying no attention to the phone in his pocket. It would reflect badly if he said that he was basically looking after the three youngest because his mother wasn't really there most of the time - physically she was, but...nah. Astrid didn't help matters either, but he couldn't say that. After a moment, he shrugged.
"I think I'm used to it," he decided. "Um. I used to have two older sisters," he smiled nervously, "she passed away a few years ago, but she taught me patience. I practice the methods she taught me when I get overwhelmed. Also, as the older brother, I know the kids' secrets and so I have something against all of them. They won't misbehave too badly."

"Ah, I'm... Sorry," She responded, unsure on how to respond about his sister dying. She was well aware of how annoying sympathetic stares could get, she had gotten her fair share of those whenever she went to the hospital. I hope that his family is doing alright... It was a few years ago, but still... She frowned momentarily, her phone going off again. Momentarily distracted, she tripped and stumbled slightly, but regained her balance quickly. She leapt down, checking her phone, although it was just her mom again, her lips thinning slightly.

"Don't...be?"
Oliver wasn't sure why English people said sorry to a tragedy, and he didn't know how to respond, either. Instead, he looked down and kicked at the gravel on the path lightly, hopping from one leg to the other. From what he could tell, they had nearly completed a lap. Nice.
"It was years ago. I've come to terms with it," he smiled faintly.

( oo ye )
A little disheartened at the sudden awkward tension, Oliver squinted as he tried to think of something to talk about. His gaze flicked over Alex briefly, but he couldn't think of anything to ask the other boy - when a glint caught his eye. He glanced at Tori for a moment, before clearing his throat.
"What's the bracelet for?" he asked tentatively.

"Oh, um, its nothing, just a medic alert bracelet," She mumbled, almost sheepishly. She took her hand away from the bracelet, she had gotten into the habit of playing with it. She hated wearing the thing, people always asked questions about it and afterwards treated her like a fragile thing. Of course, it made sense why she wore it, it was easier if anything went wrong, it was just... annoying. Honestly, if it weren't for her mothers insistence she would have thrown it away the moment she got it. "Last year I had some... Minor heart problems, but they weren't able to fix everything, so I have to wear it." Okay. That might be a bit of an understatement. What happened was she was landed in the hospital for one thing, cardio myopathy, but they couldn't correct it because she had a tear in her aorta. Lovely. So she ended up staying in the hospital for 6 weeks, the doctors only able to fix her tear and putting her on medication to manage her myopathy... It was six weeks because during recovery she got two nasty infections , one of them in both of her ears. For now at least she didn't have much to worry about, at least until her doctors told her otherwise.

Oliver considered this for a few moments, before nodding slightly. That made sense, really, and he simply focused his gaze ahead. After the things that happened with his family, he couldn't really be in a place to judge. Mental or physical - conditions were conditions.
"Okay," he said lightly, because there wasn't much else he could say. "I wanted to make a joke about hearts to lighten the atmosphere but I didn't have the heart to do it."
Goddamnit Oliver.

Tori tried not to laugh, but it escaped out of her, glad that he took it lightly. "I've got to hand it to you, that was a good one" She said with a giggle, the smile on her face growing by the minute. Most people didn't take her... conditions well, downplayed or not. I suppose he does get it though, with his mom. She thought, remembering that he had said she was sick. Her phone vibrated again and she frowned, checking it, seeing that her mom wanted her home. She let out a soft sigh, not wanting to go back. (oml I laughed out loud.)

( i am a tru comedien )
Glad that he'd managed to lighten the mood slightly, Oliver gave a little shrug.
"I have much funnier jokes in Norwegian, but they get lost in translation. I have to find new jokes in English, and I think I'm really killing it," that was an expression, right? Well, it was now. Maybe he'd used it in the wrong context or something, but he didn't care. He flicked his gaze to the girl's phone and blinked. "Is it your mother, or something?"

"You really are quite the comedian," She commented dryly, putting her phone away. "Yeah. My mother. She wants me to head back home now. Says if I'm not well enough to stay in rehearsals I'm not well enough to stay outside," She explained, still feeling a bit guilty for playing hookie a week before hell week for their musical- Spitfire Grill. She really just didn't want to go tonight, but she thought it was justified- their teacher was insane, she wanted to drop the production all together, but her mother threatened to take away all of her books if she dropped, so she decided that dropping it wasn't worth it. (the commentary tho XD)
