"And Eva's learning ASL," Oliver laughed, "so with any sort of luck, I'll be able to pick it up quickly. It would definitely be useful to know."
Then he could help Eva, because it was doubtful that she'd pick it up very quickly. If she lost motivation, which she would, she'd slow down entirely - and Maja didn't help the case, either, endorsing her with Norwegian. They were in America, and as much as he hated to think it, they had to figure out English.

"That would be nice," Oliver smiled. "I have some plays in Mandarin - uh, I think they're Traditional? Maybe some in Simplified. I'm not sure," he admitted lightly, "either way, both are good to learn. Once you have a bit of a grasp of the characters."

"I haven't read them for a while," he admitted lightly, absently picking at the hem of his sweater. "They're generally quite good, though I say that for most," Oliver tilted his head to the side slightly, and then Skul, like the bad person he is, completely ran out of things to say.

"Never read it," Oliver laughed softly. "I've been getting into more modern literature recently, though. Well. Less 'literature' and more 'trashy young adult books', because I have an insatiable need for wondrous new worlds. But while we're on the topic of books, can I tell you about my love-hate relationship with Harry Potter? I hate the writing and hate the characters, but I adore the worldbuilding."

"Mainly the main three, though Hermione is okay," Oliver made a see-saw gesture with his hand. "Rowling is just...really bad at her own characters? I dunno. Then again, she named Cho Chang...that? It's not a proper Chinese name," he shrugged lightly, "but it's just my opinion."

"Yeah I can see that.. She could have done a lot better with her characters. I was never a fan of Harry himself, but I liked the storyline decently enough, and I love the world that she created," She responded thoughtfully, leaning back. "Then again, although I loved Harry Potter, it wouldn't be on the top of my favorites list," She added, thinking of a hundred titles she liked better.

"Ja," Oliver chirped lightly, laying down on his back and resting one arm over his stomach. "It's good? It has nostalgia factor. I think my all-time favourite book is...no wait, my all-time favourite series is The Raven Cycle. I love those books so much. Then the All For The Game series, definitely. Maybe followed by A Song of Ice and Fire? I like books."

"mm those are pretty good. My personal favorite is the Mortal Instruments series, I hate to admit it, but I'm a sucker for a good paranormal romance story. Not a cliche one, a good one. Mmm I like this novel called Whisper, too, but thats a bit more of a slice of life one, y'know?" She responded, plopping down beside him, still sitting up, her legs crossed and hands propped against them to keep her up, trying to stop from yawning, a wave of tiredness hitting her all of a sudden. She shook herself slightly, trying not to dwell on the drowsiness. (Mmmm Love the Raven Cycle, I need to read the third book tho x3 Stay up till 5 blue!! Its a great idea!!)

"Personally, I'm more fond of The Infernal Devices. Lady Midnight isn't half-bad, either, I actually really like it? I guess what turned me off from The Mortal Instruments was the shock-factor 'sibling' reveal, and then the vague twist that they weren't siblings? Love Magnus Bane, though. I have like, three copies of The Bane Chronicles somewhere," Oliver smiled sheepishly. "Have you ever read Skulduggery Pleasant? It's pretty good. Also, Magisterium is good, that's another Clare book - though she co-writes it with someone. Holly Black? I dunno. I just like it. Not a Young Adult book, but the Gentleman B*stard Sequence is possibly the best series of books known to man."
He had a lot of favourites.

( LMAO 5am is the best time
oh !! omg thats a natural reaction. tfc is generally overwhelming and confusing - the raven king explains more (AND MAN DOE SIT GIVE ME CHILLS) and the king's men is undoubtedly the best book of the series.
o m g i shame-read cassie clare. i only buy her books if theyre cheap, tho. )

"It's about a living skeleton. Well," Oliver's gaze flicked upwards. "It's about a girl called Stephanie Edgley and her uncle dies and she inherits all of his good sh*t, basically, and one night when she's in his mansion that she inherited, a guy appears and attacks her and the skeleton, Skulduggery Pleasant, saves her. He wasn't always a skeleton. He's not even wearing his own head? I think he got his head back in later books, but I'm not quite sure."

( aa i think i only read tfc because it was free on amazon or something lol so that was also probably a factor?? also when books are set in reality then i have a hard time letting things slide and i remember there being a load of things in there that just made me think ok but would this actually ever happen lol
tbh some of her newer stuff gets so much hype that im like ??? just do it but ive seen/read too many bad things about her as a person so im still like no don't open that can of worms )

( omg. its overdramatic and it took me a lil while to accept that the other books r like ?? 99p on kindle i think. idkk. i bought the first three on kindle and as paperbacks i suck but no yeah its like. its an alternate universe ? the easiest way to think of it.
she has a canon autistic character in lady midnight which made my day bc hes actually. not badly portrayed its surprisingly good and as someone w asd it means . a helluva lot to me if that makes sense i understand that my guy
the only unproblematic author in this entire world is derek landy . he will not hurt u )

( mm i think most folk do prefer series even if i like the first book of a series i wanna take a break from the world and read something else and then by the time i think about continuing i've forgotten what happened in the first book again lol plus i feel like once authors know they've got more series books planned they thin everything out over many books? so the books get longer and less and less actually seems to happen maybe ive just been unfortunate in my series choices though :s )

(I have to omg BLUE SAVE OUR POOR AWKARD PEOPLE lemme see
lol blue, a series of unfortunate events) Tori glanced around the tiny apartment, letting out another yawn as her phone vibrated, and she checked the time, starting when it said that it was midnight already, and her mom just texted her, letting her know to get home safe... whenever she did. She bit her lip nervously, surprised at the text, and wondering if it was her mother being snarky or if she actually meant it. "Hey guys... Merry Christmas," She said, sounding surprised.
