Hawkfur chuckled softly, "You're one to talk Hawkfury." He rumbled, his whiskers twitching in amusement. "I always wanted kits, so I suppose it's just my nature."
"Hopefully Eclipsesky will remain medicine cat for a while, and find an apprentice that sticks around." Redpetal purred softly.
Sweetmoss nodded slightly, "That is true."

Hawkfury looked at Hawkfur.
"I know...I always felt bad that you never got to have kits. But you were a great warrior. They looked up to you, we all did." He admitted.
Sandrose purred.
"I hear Dawnpaw is doing quite well in her position." She was happy to see Windclan with good medicine cats.

Hawkfur shrugged lightly, "I was no one to look up too, I was simply a tom who did what he could to protect his clan, even if it meant forfeiting his own life." He rumbled. He chuckled softly at a thought, "I don't think anyone would have known what to do if Scarstar had been a Queen."
Redpetal nodded slightly, "From what I last saw, she is."

"I was speaking of those after our generation you mouse-brain." Hawkfur snorted, rolling his eyes before snickering. "Ah yes, I remember watching from up here, the number of times you were mistaken for me." He said, his tail twitching in amusement, "And I bet one of them would have been your apprentice, my, how amusing that would have been."

Hawkfur rolled his eyes, "I do believe so, that and your fur has more black and white than mine does." He meowed. He shook his head, thinking about it, "I swear, it's a miracle the other clans didn't think you were my kit sometimes."

"I would have preferred you were." Hawkfury mewed with a coldness to his voice. He didn't seem to want to continue. Hawkfur had been there. He had seen Smogstripe leave. Even in Starclan, Hawkfury would never respect him the way he used to.
He shook his head, removing the thoughts.
"At least then I'd have an honorable father."

"Oh what a sight! Frightened by good old Scarstar!" He snorted. He then mewed.
"The kits know well if they have fear for her. Hopefully it teaches them respect."

"Enough times to get me ready for the moment I changed from being the clan's most angry tom to being a father. I have to certainly appreciate that. Raising kits was...certainly a challenging experience." Hawkfury admitted, before he rolled his eyes.

"If she ever stuck me in the elder's den, I'd drag her in with me, that way I'll always torment her for her decision!" He decided.

Hawkfur snorted softly, shaking his head, "I wish I could have been there for that, surely would have been entertaining." He said, glancing towards where Scarstar was sleeping in a small clearing, away from everyone. "To bad she never would have gone there. I think she was afraid of the elder's den for a long time, because her injuries could have placed her there very early."

Hawkfur shifted his weight before he stretched his front paws, his amber eyes somber as he thought, "Personally, I would disagree with that thought, to be honest. The reason Scarfur feared the elder's den was because that meant she was weak, that her injuries took away her chance to be a warrior, at least, that's what she told me." He explained, his tail wrapped around his paws. "To die young, you don't understand that, but Sandrose would, as would Jayberry. There is a lot you miss, so many things you want to do. To die young, you never get to tell the stories of your adventures or your battles. You never get to have kits, or see them if you did. You sit up here in Starclan and all you can do is wonder so many things. Will my mate find someone new? Will anyone remember me? Was my death all in vain? Did I ever actually do anything for the clan I love so much?" He rumbled, lost in his own thoughts of being in Starclan. "Imagine, what would the clan have been like if Scarstar had died as an apprentice to the wounds that badger gave her? What would have happened if Sandrose had survived, and you had died in her place? What would Maplekit, Owlkit, and all the other kits have been like if they had become warriors? I've had many moons to think on this, as at one time, I had thought the same, but Starclan makes you think differently after watching so many changes happen in the clan."
(Hawkfur....Hawkfur stop being wise. Stop making me think...Stop being so calm about literally EVERYTHING! You and Eagleheart, I swear, you two drive me up a wall with your personalities.)

Hawkfury listened quietly for once, gazing at Hawkfur as he thought of his words. He shook his head.
"I was going mad. Something was wrong in my old age...Had it not been from that vortex, I'd have died in mental chaos. Apparently it's something that you can't treat. Ran in the bloodline. Had I joined the elder's den, I'd have died from the inside out. My death...I am happy with it." He shrugged. He then sighed.
"Everything that happened was destined to happen. It took me very long to accept that. But one thing I do know, Scarstar could have never been in that den. She almost was, and I could tell she held reluctance." He flicked an ear.

Hawkfur nodded slightly, "Yeah, I remember hearing about it from Foxstep while Scarfur was in the medicine den as an apprentice. She said it was one of those things that is incurable, like the condition Rosefeather is in." He meowed, thinking about old memories. He shook his head, chuckling, "I remember watching the day she retired. Then again, she complained all the way up to the Moonstone about being dragged out of the elder's den."

"The moment the medicine cat said Scarstar was to be chosen, I knew with all my being that she was the right cat. No matter how old she was, nobody could have led me and our clan better." He beamed proudly.

"She didn't need either position. She knew already how to brunt through hardships. It just meant she had no distractions. No kits to fret for, no patrols to scramble over. Her age gave her experience enough." Hawkfury nodded, moving to lift a paw to groom his ears.
