“I hope you know that goes in return for me. I won’t hesitate to strike if a cat threatens you, Brownleaf.” Meadowbrook murmured, looking at Brownleaf with earnest eyes.

“I’m glad to hear it. Patrols tend to be happier and more active when newleaf comes around. I’ll have to join some Moor-Running patrols myself. You know how much I enjoy both.” Blacktail chuckled, the older deputy pausing in his work.

“Of course I know that.” Brownleaf gazed into her green eyes. “I’ll always know that, no matter what may happen to us.”

“Have you been checking in on the kits lately? I hear that Rookkit is becoming faster by the day.” Blacktail conversed, a warmth of pride in his eyes as he spoke to his mate.

“Starclan, what a sap you are.” Meadowbrook purred with a teasing drawl, her eyes flickering with appreciation and slyness.

“Old? You guys won’t ever get old! You’re not allowed to.” Juniperkit pouted, not wanting to think of her mother and father getting old and tired.

Sagefoot pulled her daughter close to her, nuzzling the top of her head "unfortunately it'll happen my darling. It'll happen to both of us, and it will happen one day to you and Larkkit as well. It's just part of life. One day we will all be young again in Starclan though, so do not worry about growing old little one."

Larkkit was starting to doze off at the rhythmic laps of her father's tongue as he groomed her. "Papa, I don't think I want to play anymore." she murmured sleepily.

Brownleaf barked a short laugh. “I blame that on you, if you weren’t such a perfect cat I wouldn’t get all gushy like this.”

Sagefoot smoothed Juniperkit’s fur down gently “You don’t have to worry about that yet my dear. Your father and I will be with you for many moons to come.”

Larkkit burrowed her face in her father’s fur, purring softly as she grew close to sleep. The she-cat knew this was a special occasion to be sleeping near her father so she was going to take advantage of it.

“Good.” Juniperkit yawned, wanting to be carried by her mother rather than having to walk back to their nest. She watched as Larkkit was gently lifted by their father, who made it a point to pad as gently as he could to the nest to not awaken her.

“Carry me too, mama.” She pleaded.

Blacktail offered a hum of thought at that, before his yellow eyes softened with humbleness.
“You all see too highly of me. My duties are not different, there are just a few more of them...Though, I appreciate that you think I’m talented.” He liked the feeling it gave him, as if he were a young warrior again.

"Oh, come on." Slushfur nudged her mate. "The entire Clan respects you. Being deputy is no small case. You've clearly earned your place."

Sagefoot relaxed against her mate, completely content. "They've got boundless energy until they just crash." she mewed in amusement, gazing down at their daughters.

Larkkit was snuggled close, her tail covering her nose as she slept peacefully.

Slushfur nodded. "You contrast each other well. I think it makes the Clan's leadership stronger." she flicked her tail. "You sap. I'll support you until I can't run anymore."

"May that be moons and moons then. May you run long, and happy, my dear." Blacktail purred, moving to press his muzzle to hers lightly, before he turned and flicked his tail.
"Do you think you could assist me in clearing out these brambles?"

Swiftstar nodded and padded alongside his mate back towards camp, wrinkling his nose. "Whatever the twolegs are doing, I don't trust it." He said, increasing his pace slightly. 

Silverspirit nodded. "Well that's a relief." she mewed. "I would hate to actually bring back the wrong thing and kill us all."

Sagefoot shook her head "You blink and they're asking you wise questions."

Fallowmeadow increased her pace to match her mate's "The scent is getting stronger, I'm a little worried."

Eclipsesky snorted "No offense but I would never use any herbs you brought back unless I inspected them first."
