{.{ hnnNnNggGgg me too bud. Me too. }}
"Medieval times..?" He questioned, voice barely inaudible among the commotion that surrounded them. Just an hour ago, you could have heard a pin drop on the ground. It was amazing how quickly the rebels came together to get things working from the moment they woke up. Everything was kept running like a well-oiled machine, roaring and ready to go.
Alwyn's question only furthered his suspicions that he truly wasn't a being from his world. That he didn't get temporary memory loss and he actually lived in a town among Narnia, but instead came from a far-off land. His worries grew as he learned more about the other, which displeased him greatly. He had enough on his plate as is.
"We're in the midst of a war." Xzavier answered, not wanting to go into full detail until some of his own questions had been acknowledged. Hopefully, Saphina would help him out with that.
Spotting a member of his squadron, he almost breathed a sigh of relief. "Aryana." He called over, tone of voice commanding as he raised his hand.
Upon hearing her commander, the said woman's face broke into a smile before bounding over. She was a short female whose hair was made up of snakes, similar to Medusa. There had been a rumor that the two were related, but Xzavier didn't know for sure, and he was positive he didn't want to.
At least she didn't turn people into stone.
"What's up Cap?" She questioned, voice cheerful and bubbly. Her gaze shifted over to the stranger beside him but kept her mouth shut from asking any questions, knowing full well her Captain would relay and necessary information.
"Saphina, is she still in her tent? Hopefully, she has the answers to the questions I have." Aryana tilted her head to the side in thought, her snakes making soft hissing sounds as she moved. "I think so, she doesn't really move until it's noon or so." She shrugged, giving her Commander a salute before waiting for his permission to leave.
He nodded and she jogged off, looking for another member of their squadron to share the news of the stranger beside their Captain.
"Saphina's tent it is." He muttered to himself. "Head that way." Xzavier made his voice louder so Alwyn could hear him above the noise. He pointed West, in the direction of the Mage's tent.

((Even if they're at war it looks so fun ;-; I mean, talking animals? Centaurs? Satyrs? Count me in, I'm ready to go))
"A war." Alwyn echoed, trying hard to comprehend what that meant. "Where's the guns? Uniforms..?" His question trailed off when the other called out to one of the people. He was about to question who she was when he turned his head and almost fell back again, though only grabbed onto the swordsman; 'Aryana' had hissing snakes instead of hair and it both scared and mesmerized him, though fear was the winning emotion at the moment. When she glanced at him, he relaxed a bit and studied her face, his grip loosening on the swordsman shirt. She was awfully pretty, despite the snakes and all, and his brow furrowed when she saluted the other and bounced away. He almost didn't hear when he was told to move and had to stare at Xzavier for a few seconds before he was finally able to comprehend what he had said. He finally let go of his shirt and walked in the direction that the other had pointed, moving slowly just so he could look around at all the 'oddities'.

{{ thank you for understanding!! i have these moments where i break off from reality and just fall into a pit of depression. i'm getting better, so no worries~ }}
Xzavier almost pulled his arm away roughly to jostle the other off when Alwyn suddenly grabbed him as Aryana appeared. He held back from doing so, wanting to maintain his authoritative persona, as well as to focus his attention on his comrade's words. That was the more important task, listening instead of flinging the stranger off of his clothing.
Following behind Alwyn, he almost muttered a string of curses as the other walked at a snail's pace, eyes wide as he looked at the commotion going on around them. In a way, the man understood. It had taken him a while to adapt to the noise and activity, but this was war and one had to become accustomed quickly. But for someone who was not native to these lands... It must be a mind-blowing experience.
He almost breathed a sigh of relief as they (finally) came across Saphina's area, waving at the figure moving around the tent. With a squeal of surprise, the figure dashed towards Xzavier in a flash of blue, and almost knocked over Alwyn in the process.
"Xzavie!!~" She exclaimed with glee, turquoise eyes sparkling with curiosity and mischievousness as she jumped up to wrap her arms around the neck of their Commander, the wings on her back helped her to maintain her balance.
He caught her swiftly, as if accustomed to her childish nature. And in a way, she was. Saphina was a dragonling, part human part dragon. While her body looked to be about eight years old, she was actually 426.
The cobalt scales that decorated her neck and wrists glinted in the sunlight as she turned her eyes upon the stranger standing beside them. Sniffing the air slightly, her lips parted to reveal pointed fangs. "Why's there a stranger here?? Did my barrier not work well?? I told you that they needed your blood." She pouted, almost upset at the fact that Xzavier didn't listen to her.

((I go through the same thing, so I get the need to take breaks from time-to-time. I mean, I sometimes disappear for weeks at a time because of it haha. But I'm glad you're getting better! It's important to be happy and healthy!))
Alwyn stumbled dramatically when Saphina whizzed by and tottered a little before finally getting his footing. Looking back to the swordsman, he found that a child was clinging to him and talking. "Xzavie?" He echoed quietly, almost giggling at the nickname she had for the man, who he now assumed to be named Xzavier. When Saphina turned her eyes on him, he straightened his posture and watched her expression, surprised to see that when he mouth opened, fangs were present. After listening to her questions, he decided that speaking up wouldn't be too bad, especially since this appeared to be a child. "Um, my name is Alwyn, I kinda just showed up here. I don't even think I'm in the right dimension, to be honest. Xzavie wanted to figure it out." He emphasized the nickname, showing that some of his attitude was indeed coming back. In his opinion, as long as there wasn't a sword pointed at him, there was always room to be an a,hole.

{{ yeah, being healthy is the most important thing. it makes me sad sometimes when my friends think school is the top priority. }}
A frown made its way onto Saphina's face and she pointed an accusatory finger at Alywn's face, a pointed nail positioned threateningly in front of him. "You can't call him that!! He only lets me, you aren't special enough" She growled out, her words seemingly full of rage for someone so small. It was almost as if she was offended that Alwyn had the nerve to mimic her nickname for Xzavier. "Right, Xzavie??" She questioned, eyes searching his face as she looked up at the Commander for his acknowledgement.
"Of course, that's a privilege only for you." He reassured the dragonling, patting her turquoise hair tenderly. Angering the small girl usually led to a disaster. It had happened once and Xzavier wasn't too fond of reliving through that experience ever again. He had managed to push those memories away, not wanting to live through another one of those occurrences. Saphina had a ton of magic stored in her little body, her abilities almost impossible to match.
"Now, can you tell me why this stranger has stepped foot onto our lands and into our camp? It'd help me a lot." He added with a gentle smile, causing the girl to chirp with glee and nod profusely.
"He said other dimension, right? There have been some other areas in different worlds that are entrances to Narnia." She hummed, content in Xzavier's arms. "It seems that the boy found one of them, which led him to the camp. Where the portals lead is completely random, so your encounter with him was basically chance."
"Do you know of any way to return him home?" He questioned, shoving the wariness in his tone away, not wanting his brisk attitude to crumble. Sure, he was still wary of the stranger. But they weren't made for war, that much was obvious, and Xzavier couldn't deal with another unnecessary death on his shoulders. He just couldn't.
She shook her head and his heart sank. "Nope.~ He'll have to stick around. Maybe when the war is over and we've beaten the Witch, she'll answer your questions? She might know how to bring him back." Saphina offered with a gentle smile, twirling a strand of her hair around a finger.

Alwyn stared as the small girl got frustrated with him and simply blinked, not feeling the intimidation he knew he probably should. He was too used to being in his own dimension, where little girls had no power and just played with toys and complained all the time. He listened silently until it was brought up if he could return or not. "You're kidding." He breathed, feeling like he'd been punched in the gut. "I'm gonna be reported missing by then and my mom's going to be a wreck, I can't stay until you're done with a war. That will take too long!" He looked between the two, actually showing his concern now that he knew he may not be able to get back. "I didn't ask for this! I just wanted to read a stupid book." He turned and began pacing, a hand now tangled in his chin-length chestnut hair. He didn't know how he was going to survive this; Xzavier clearly didn't trust him and he was pretty sure this little dragon girl didn't think too fondly of him either. "I wanna go home.." He croaked, still pacing in a tight circle with his hazel eyes trained on the ground.

((Good grades are pushed on this generation and we're taught that it's basically all that matters. {{ yeah, definitely. my family gets peeved whenever i have a GPA of 97+. They always ask why it isn't an 100. like, okay?? I did really well and you don't appreciate it? I used to pretend that I was physically sick so I could stay home. }}
The dragonling's crystal eyes softened at the stranger's distress, knowing full well that she would never be able to understand the mixed swirling of emotions he was currently going through. It must be awful, appearing in a world you knew nothing about, only to be told that the time when you could return home was unknown. He had to be feeling something awful and she shuddered at the thought, hoping the sympathies in her heart would somehow reach him.
Maneuvering her way on Xzavier's body, she managed to crawl up on his shoulder, allowing her to bend down and press her lips gently on his ear. She dropped her voice down to a whisper as she spoke lightly into his ear. "You should take him under your wing while he's here, Xzavie. Just think of him as a lost puppy, right??"
He opened his mouth to protest, to say that no, he couldn't. He wouldn't. He had enough responsibility to deal with and there was no time for him to take care of Alwyn in this brutal world of war and bloodshed. But the look in Saphina's eyes and the underlying sense of fear in Alwyn's mutterings caused him to shut his mouth and give a brisk, yet gentle, nod to the dragonling beside him. An extra set of hands couldn't hurt, right... ?
With a squeal of pleasure, Saphina placed a gentle kiss on Xzavier's nose before swooping down to the ground and maneuvering herself in front of Alwyn. She looked up at him curiously, bright eyes glinting from behind her thick lashes. "We'll take care of you in your time here, okay?" She questioned, voice gentle, holding out her hand for him to take.

((??? They should be satisfied with where you are now, there's no reason to push you forward even more. I get that they may want you to be "the best" but ??)) ((I used to do that a lot too, or I would get so wrapped up in my emotions that I would get physically sick. It just recent stopped since I'm switching to Alternative School where I can actually find a comfortable pace. I'm a smol child and I'm going to be graduating next year so I gotta catch up,,, especially since I only have three credits ehhhh))
Alwyn didn't even notice what was going on until Saphina landed in front of him, having been too wrapped up in his panic. He stopped pacing and took a minute to wait out the dizzy spell before he attempted to remember what she had said. He squinted at her, trying to focus on her face instead of the still present emotions making his belly churn and his thoughts swim. "Take care of me." He suddenly remembered what she had said and repeated it aloud, almost as a confirmation of the dragonling's words. His gaze drifted down to her hand and he studied the scales on her wrists, turning the idea over in his head; did he really want to stay in this campsite with all these odd creatures? Sighing through his nose, he reach out with a shaky hand and put it in hers, smiling sheepishly when he realized just how clammy his palm was. If he really was trapped, at least he could stay protected, right?

{{ you'll love them!! I enjoyed how the books got thicker with each one in the series. I was kinda unsatisfied with the ending, but that's just me lol }}
She wrapped her hand tightly around his, surprisingly strong for her size as she squeezed his hand reassuringly. It seemed as if she was trying to provide some sort of physical support for him until his mind accepted the fact that he was stuck in Narnia for a while. It was a lot to take in, she knew that for sure.
Gently tugging him over to where Xzavier stood, the small dragonling looked up at the Commander fondly and received a nod of acknowledgement in return. She returned her attention towards Alwyn, her piercing eyes searching his. "If you didn't know already, this is Xzavier. He's the Commander of this camp, the leader of the main squadron who are located in this base camp, the one you are currently standing in. He's also one of the main people involved with beginning the rebellion to start off with. He's the one who's gonna take care of you while you're here, okay?" She explained, tone soft as she spoke to him.
"Honestly, he's the most capable person here. You should feel safe in his care." She patted his arm fondly, as if she had known Alwyn for many years. "I gotta go check in the talismans, since someone didn't." She huffed, glancing at Xzavier and earning a shrug. "I'll leave you in his care! Xzavie, be nice!~" she called over her shoulder, slipping her grasp away from Alwyn's before hurrying off.

((Ah, I understand that! I forget what book I read, but I did ready one a while ago and the ending just really sucked. I felt like I'd been betrayed)) ((Sorry, I got wrapped up in talking to this girl I like,,,))
Alwyn let himself be lead by Saphina and kept his eyes on Xzavier as she introduced him, a part of his mind still considering whether or not this could be some kind of fever-induced hallucination. When Saphina released his hand he almost went to grasp for it again but instead watched her walk away, letting his arm hang limply at his side. "So," He began, reaching for the attitude he seemed to reserve just for Xzavier. "Where'd the pretty one go?" He tried to joke but his voice still shook a bit, betraying the anxiety that still knotted in his stomach like a ball of snakes trying to find a way out. The corners of his lips pointed upward in a strained smile and he let out a dry laugh, followed quickly by him clearing his throat. "Uh, so, what now?" He asked, dropping the tight expression and shooting for one that was more neutral.

{{ awwww, that's so cute!! }}
His eyes drank in every detail of the man standing before him, lips forming into a firm line as each second passed. He took in the manner in which Alwyn hunched his shoulders and the way lines formed on his face as the other struggled to hold back his true emotions. Xzavier had seen this before. When his men lost their will to fight. When despair lingered in their eyes and doubts formed on their lips.
Xzavier always managed to put them to a stop before any voices were heard. He wasn't deemed as a Commander for absolutely no reason.
However, he didn't say a word about it. He made the internal decision to not discuss Alwyn's noticeable discomfort. He would, however, if it would end up leading to his danger. That was just something his morals would not let him ignore.
Stretching out his back and letting out a relieved sigh as the pressure disappeared, Xzavier looked over at the man before him. "You'll be staying in my tent. That's the best choice in this matter. I'll have Saphina put up borders around it to ensure your safety, so there's binned to worry about that." He tried to make his voice far less brisk than it had been moments before. It was best to have Alwyn assimilate to his surroundings as soon as possible.
"Also, we'll need to give you a change of clothing. The ones you're wearing aren't bad, but they make you stick out. You'll need to blend in with the people here."

((Aha,,, thanks, she's really sweet and interesting and funny and she's absolutely stunning and I just/// wow)) ((Also I think I may have just broken my pinkie toe? That, or it's just bruised, incredibly painful, and swollen))
Alwyn raised his arms and gazed down at his outfit, an eyebrow quirking at Xzavier's statement. His t-shirt had a picture of an owl wearing glasses while his jeans were ripped in many places, leaving skin exposed to the cold while his big, ugly jacket was tied around his waist. "Are you kidding? This is the pinnacle of fashion where I come from." This time, his grin was genuine and he let out a light laugh, having a habit of laughing at his own jokes. Despite his joke, he didn't have any issue with getting new clothing, in fact, he thought maybe it would be better. The clothes he had on now hung off his body awkwardly and it was quite unflattering, so he hoped maybe Xzavier could provide something smaller and close-fitting. Once he took his mind off the big picture his mood began to lift ever so slightly.

{{ ahhh.~ People like you give me hope for the world. yikes!! can you move it?? please ice it for now! and elevate it. what happened?? }}
Xzavier raised a brow as Alwyn spoke and the corner of his lip raised into something akin to a smirk. "Fashion, huh?" He muttered, glancing at the other's appearance before looking down at his own. It wasn't like he had much style himself.
Black leather pants adorned his legs, leather belts were slung across his hips, black boots made for riding his horse Croathia decorated his feet, a handmade black shirt that hugged his body snugly, and a multitude of necklaces dangled around his neck. He didn't include the numerous amount of weapons concealed among his body, noting that it was still far too early to introduce Alwyn to anything that had the capability of wounding another. He was sure that the other wasn't ready yet.
He only wore the dreary color to blend in with the darkness, preferring to work in the light of the moon. The absence of light made it easier for him to perform his duties. In fact, it made him feel alive.
"How about we get you something to wear first? I'm sure we can fit you into something of mine. And even if it's too big, it'll certainly keep you warm when the night chills roll in." He added thoughtfully, a tone of concern seeping into his voice. Alwyn's body was certainly not made for Narnia, they was for sure.
He pointed a finger in the direction of his tent, the leather and stone bracelets that adorned his wrists made a slight sound as he moved. "My place is just over there, not too far from Saphina's."

((Ahh,, thanks? I just really like her and I wanna do all these things like hold her hand and take her to the beach at night and have a snowball fight and just !!! I hurt it by hitting it on the doorframe really hard, to the point where the tip was immediately white and purple and now my whole toe is swollen to twice the size and I can't even walk on it,,))
Alwyn gave a nod and took a brief moment to examine Xzavier's clothing, wanting to know just what kind of stuff he was going to be wearing for however long he was going to stay here. He admitted to himself that it wasn't that bad, but then hesitated again, wondering if it was just the way the commander's body looked in it. He took a minute before deciding that it was probably both, then turned and began walking to where the other had pointed. "I'm not too sure I'll look good in your clothes, I mean, you're so," He made an odd noise and gestured to Xzavier's body. "And I'm so." He made a different, higher pitched noise as he then did the same to himself. He hoped the other understood what he meant because he didn't know any other way to convey what he meant by it.

{{ I hope you guys get to do those things soon.~ Is your toe doing any better since last night? }}
He shoved his hands in his pockets, easily maneuvering his footsteps so he could walk in step with the other. He was no longer lingering behind Alwyn, no longer making sure he wasn't going to run off. Instead, Xzavier made the decision to walk beside him, as if the two were equals.
It was a minuscule action, yes, but he did it anyways. He had to do whatever it was possible to make Alwyn feel somewhat welcomed into Narnia. He was positive that the other's first impression of him was most certainly not the best. And, well, it wasn't his fault. Xzavier was raised to not trust anyone until blood was spilled or an agreement was reached.
At Alwyn's comment, he raised a brow and snorted slightly in a mixture of disbelief and amusement. "Our bodies are different because of the worlds we were raised in. I don't know where you're from, but the world of Narnia is either lavish or harsh. I was given the more difficult side of things where only the strong survive. My body is a product of that." He shrugged. "You can either wear my stuff or Saphina's, you might fit into her dragonling outfits."
A small smirk graced his lips as he continued. "Your time here in Narnia will strengthen you and you may fit into my clothing as time wears on. I'm not sure if Saphina mentioned this, but time in Narnia passes by much faster when compared to other worlds. Days spent here maybe only be a few seconds where you are." He mentioned, hoping that would take away some of Alwyn's previous worries.

((Me too,, My toe is feeling better and the swelling has gone down but there's a lot of dark bruising on it. It doesn't hurt as bad, though!)) ((I need a shower so if I don't reply quickly-as if I ever do- that's why))
Alwyn's cheeks coloured at the prompt of wearing Saphina's clothes but held his tongue from making a comment on that. He listened further to what Xzavier was saying and nodded, feeling a majority of his worries melting at the new knowledge he had; he now thought of this more as a 'trip to grandmas house' type of deal. "So, what you're saying is I'm gonna beef up here in Narnia but when I go home I'm gonna be a noodle again?" His brows were furrowed in mock irritation but the smile on his face broke the expression he had been going for. He hoped that these people knew what noodles were, otherwise his joke was going to be ruined, and on top of that, he actually liked eating pasta. It would be double the disappointment.

"I wouldn't exactly say, 'beef up', but you'll get stronger. However, I'm not too sure if it'll stay with you when you return home. You'll have to wait and see." He shrugged, stopping at his tent and raising the flap for Alwyn to enter. "This kind of occurrence hasn't been written down in any sort of history book here. It's kind of like unknown territory, in a way. New for you and new for us."
Since Xzavier was a Commander, his tent was far larger and roomier than any other on the camp. It was much too big for a single man, and was capable of holding at least three people. It was stable, warm, and it was a place he called home.
Rugs decorated the floor and candles gave the darkened area a warm glow. "We'll move in an extra bed for you when daylight falls and the night is beginning to rise. If I ask now, but that would just disrupt the order of things and I'm not too keen on doing that. My clothes are in the chest at the foot of my bed so I'll have to look for something that could fit you."

((Yeah! That's not good //: ))
"Huh." Alwyn was pleasantly surprised at the comfy atmosphere the tent provided and he grinned, happy that he didn't have to stay in what he had imagined to be a normal camping tent with only sleeping bags. He hardly listened to what Xzavier was saying as he got wrapped up in studying his surroundings, taking interest in the rugs on the floor as he realized that he didn't recognize the material they had been made out of. When the commander mentioned bringing a bed he moved and sat on the one already placed before he rolled over onto his back and gazed up at Xzavier, waiting to see if he'd continue talking after the clothing bit. When he heard nothing, he spoke up, but instead of saying something serious, he cracked another joke. "Just don't bring any girls home and we're cool." A cheesy smile followed and he shifted once more, this time so he was laying on his stomach with a good view of the chest the other had referred to earlier.
((Sometimes I imagine Alwyn's jokes in a Linda Belcher voice))

{{ update: ran into my dog and he made a huffing noise, almost as if he's sick of me I LOVE HER AHAHAHAHA }}
Xzavier held back the urge to roll his eyes, not knowing if he was going to be able to deal with Alwyn's childish attitude throughout the entire war. One thing he knew for certain, though, was that things were never going to be boring with him around.
In a way, Alwyn reminded Xzavier of his younger sister. The same cheerful aura, always having a smile on and a wide selection of endless jokes. He kept his mouth shut about it, not wanting to delve into his depressing memories.
He absentmindedly played with one of his necklaces for a moment, the silver locket glinting slightly in the candlelight. He snapped himself out of his reverie with a slight cough, inhaling deeply to rid himself of those crippling thoughts.
Hoping Alwyn hadn't noticed, he maneuvered his way over to the chest and knelt to the ground, immediately cracking it open.
"I think you'll fit into these." He muttered absentmindedly, placing a folded pair of brown leather pants, a black undershirt, a dark green scarf, a leather belt, and a beige bomber jacket to keep warm. Pulling out a pair of leather boots, he placed them beside the bed on the floor. "We'll have to get you another chest do you can put your other belongings in there later. I'll see if Leon can get you a leather bag of some sort."

((Awwhaha poor pupper ME TOO PFF )) ((Did Xzavier's sister die? ( )) Alwyn had noticed the short moment but said nothing, deciding that it wasn't his business to pry about things, especially when he was being allowed to stay in Xzavier's tent without any form of work in return. He watched the clothing be set out in front of him while listening to the rest of the other man's words, nodding when he finished. "Just how many people are in this camp? Is this all of the army?" He didn't know much about war, but he knew if these people were the only soldiers, they were going to be outnumbered. He grabbed the clothes without waiting for an answer and shed the jacket around his waist, his shirt following suit, but his pants stayed for the moment. He managed the black undershirt on after a short struggle and was quite satisfied when in fit rather snugly around his small body, save for it being a bit too long. He decided to wait on the jacket until they were going back outside and took a look at the pants before glancing at Xzavier and clearing his throat. "Aren't you gonna turn around or something?" He then cracked another smile and tipped his head slightly to the left. "If you're looking for a show, you'll be sorely disappointed."
