"You're right, that isn't a talent." Mycle cringed and stared more furiously at his hands. "But that's pretty cool anyways." He looked up in surprise, not having expected an answer like that. His title? Cool? He supposed having luck was pretty nice, something most people would love to have - but he wasn't sure if he believed in luck, that the universe twisted reality in his favor, that things would fall into place if he wished for it really, really hard. He sure was grateful when it comes, but he wondered why him of all people - some kid with ordinary skills who can't even bring himself to speak sometimes - would be granted favorability. Besides, people do say that luck can run out. His hands fiddled with the bottom of his shirt. He nodded in agreement at Jace's last statement - the uncertainty building up in his chest was growing more tighter with each passing moment. He couldn't help that strange feeling of dread, that he shouldn't be here, that something was wrong. It was probably just his anxiety, though. He looked over at Jace's book, the question lying at the back of his throat. He really wanted to ask. He rehearsed it in his mind, preparing for the moment his mouth would open and he'd just say it - moments passed. Now. Now. I can do it... now. As each moment passed, he despaired at waiting too long, that the longer he mentally prepared himself the more awkward the question would be. But it was as if a force prevented him from speaking, that as many times as he thought it his mouth just wouldn't cooperate. He looked away and focused on his hands, and then his breath. "Um..." he said, just to get Jace's attention first, which would definitely force him to continue. "What - what are you reading?" His voice was small, as if trying to take up as little room as possible in the few moments it hovered in the air.

The question was certainly not one that Kihyun was expecting. He fought the urge to smirk, for that would give too much away. Instead, he pulled back slightly, just enough so that his eyes could comfortably meet hers. "What do you think?" If he were a "goody two shoes," as Hayami so eloquently put it, Kihyun doubted that he'd be surviving off of the millions that he's earned based off his skill at gambling, at deception. But the biggest question on his mind was why this was a question that Hayami felt the need to ask. Normally, people just noted that he was a professional gambler and acted differently around him. The lingering breath on his ear from when Hayami whispered her question made him feel vaguely uneasy, his mind telling him that this girl was someone he should be careful of. But didn't she just say that she was the Ultimate Gymnast? How dangerous could she be?

(alrighty, i'm back. ^^ )
Mikel noticed the others where he was walking and continued towards them. He smiled softly as he neared them, taking in their features. As a character design artist, he took in every little detail of someone: their clothes, their shoes, their hair style, the splashes of color inside their iris; it all helped him in the end. It gave him inspiration.
(sorry it's so short gomen ;; )
Oakley realized that the others were probably getting more information than her. There was probably some meeting everyone was attending, and because of her introverted self, she wasn't going to attend. She sighed, setting down her notebook, before standing up and walking towards the door. After leaving the Library, it took her a few moments to find where exactly the gym was. She figured everyone would be there. She walked inside, glancing around warily. There was...quite a bit of people here. Not like, a lot, but at least...more than five, surely. Eight. Maybe ten? She wasn't sure.

◈ ---- Jace, Hayami, Leo, and Monobear
◈ ---- For whatever reason, Kihyun's response made Hayami laugh. Luckily, it wasn't her "crazy" laugh. She had been working on that, before it wasn't like she could let anyone know she was insane, and that would be a dead giveaway. "I just thought I might ask. It's bad to judge people based on first impressions." This was her way of hinting towards her evil nature, despite her innocent appearance, though she doubted he would get it. "But I'm going to assume that's a no." She was clearly pleased about that...even if he wasn't crazy like she was, he at least was less likely to flinch at the idea of killing, something she specialized in.
Most girls would be irritated if they caught a boy observing them, even just for artistic purposes, but Hayami absolutely loved attention. That's pretty much the only reason she wasn't just chilling with Monobear right now; she wanted to make everyone pay attention to her, which they certainly would when she revealed her betrayal. It would be great! Anyways, the point is, Hayami really liked attention, so she didn't mind at all. Plus, she was use to being scanned in a purely "artistic" manner. Even if she was only a model for a few years, she had still gotten use to it.
"Yo." She grabbed Mikel's hand and kissed the back of it in greeting, just like she had done with everyone else, before grinning up at him. "I'm Hayami, the Ultimate Gymnast. This is Kihyun, Ultimate Gambler." She didn't even give Kihyun a chance to introduce himself before she did it for him. "What's your name? Talent? Why are you so late? Everyone else was here a long time ago...."
--
"Hm?" Mycle seemed rather nervous around people, which confused Jace greatly. He wasn't particularly intimidating, so he was use to being on the other end of things. Typically, he was the one stuttering and having to try hard just to get his words out. He wasn't exactly unhappy about the change, though. He didn't like being the shy, nerdy guy who could barely spit out a few words. It got kinda boring after a while, and he was plenty happy to let someone else to take that role, though that sounded mean. Oh well. Jace had never been concerned about being nice.
"What am I reading?" The question seemed to confuse him, for whatever reason, and he looked at the cover of his book. It was almost as if he had no idea what book he was reading...which was true. He had just grabbed a random one from the room, and since he had only skimmed the first few pages, had no idea what it was about. "Oh, it's just a book I found in my room when I woke up. Probably because of my talent. It's about the history of the school." A boring topic to read about, but honestly, Jace would read anything. Just give him a book, and he'd finish it in a few hours.
--
Before anyone else had a chance to really say anything, a voice came from the front of the room. "Hiya kiddos!" Everyone's head snapped towards the podium, where a black and white bear, about the size of a large teddy bear, now sat, speaking into the microphone. But that couldn't be right...stuffed bears didn't speak! Though this one seemed to be quite alive. "I know what you're all thinking, and no, I am not a high tech build-a-bear reject. I am Monobear, the principal of this school! Pleased to meet 'cha."
Before Monobear had even finished his last sentence, Leo had started screaming, seeming absolutely horrified. "Bears can't talk! What the hell is going on? It can't be the principal, it's just a stuffed animal!"
Monobear looked mildly offended, if a bear could show any expression at all, but continued. "Anyways, welcome bright young things, to your new living quarters! Now before you get all panicky, rest assured it's for your own good! Mustn't let the outside world throw that gasoline in a spark." That didn't make much sense, but oh well. "So now you're wondering how long you'll be guests of our program! Uh...about the rests of your lives!"
He continued before anyone could start to argue. "You're here for keepsies! But don't worry, we have a huge budget, so all your needs will be satisfied. But for those who wish to leave....there is a loophole. Good old fashioned murder!"
Several gasps came from the students, but Monobear didn't stop talking. He continued to explain all the rules, including how the class trials would happen after every murder, and if the murderer wasn't caught, they would get to leave. He left out a few parts, like how everyone would be brought back to life after they were killed so they could die all over again, but those were tiny, unimportant details.
"Now, for motivation....yes, there will be a motivation to kill after every murder! The first one is embarrassing secrets. How fun!" Monobear laughed. "On these papers, I have written down a dark or embarrassing secret about all of you, one that you wouldn't want anyone to know. You will get your slip of paper, just so you can read what exactly that secret is, and have it to remind you that if no one is killed within a day, the secrets will start to be revealed. The papers are taped to your electronic student handbooks, which have the rest of the rules, and a list of students and info about them, in it. Have fun kids! I'll be back soon."
And with that, Monobear disappeared, tossing the electronic handbooks on the ground so that everyone had to scramble to find theirs.
Hayami, however, didn't bother. She was too busy sobbing, actually, though of course it was an act. A very, very good act, and she actually seemed rather distressed.
Leo was still freaking out, so he grabbed his electronic handbook as soon as possible, as did Jace.
"W-what should we do now?" Jace asked in a quiet tone, going back to being his shy self.
"It doesn't matter! We're all gonna die!" Hayami wailed, burying her face in her hands.

Marcus laughed. It wasn't his usual light-hearted laugh. It sounded forced, as if it was squeezed out through his nervousness. Murder? Staying here for the rest of their lives? It had to be a lie, right? ...Right? With shaky hands, he put away the deck he was holding and bent down to grab the handbook. Marcus switched it on and began to test it out. He needed to do something to get his mind off things. And he definitely wouldn't look at the paper. It would be a lie, too. It would be a lie.
Izzy, on the other hand, seemed about to explode. "Well, that stupid bear can't make us do this! When I get my hands on him..." The rest of her rant soon devolved into angry muttering as she picked up her handbook. She eyed it suspiciously, checking for any traps, before pressing the power button. She hesitated as she peeled off the paper, but folded it up. She'd read it later once her mind was clearer.

Mycle's eyes lit up with interest. "The history? Coo-" But he didn't manage to finish his thought when the alarmingly cute and terrifying bear stepped up to the podium.
That, Ari thought, is definitely a high tech build-a-bear reject. The appearance of the bear made him unsettled him, particularly the cruel, sharp smile spreading across half its face. He looked over at Leo's scream with an are-you-kidding-me look. "Come on, it's obviously got to be some robot of some sort," he said. "There's no way a stuffed bear can walk and talk on its own." He turned back with a raised eyebrow. "First time I ever had a teddy bear for a principal, though. This has got to be interesting." And it was - staying in school for the rest of his life? The heck? What kind of nightmare was this? But then "murder" entered the room, and Ari felt himself stagger back in horror. Murder? Again, what kind of nightmare was this?! "The f---?" he said out loud. He stared at the electronic handbooks that lay scattered on the floor. He took his time finding his, wondering what on earth his secret would be. Maybe that one time when he went to juvie for smashing his ex-boyfriend's car? But he wouldn't mind that getting out - maybe it'll make him look dangerous, keep others away from him. He edged away at the sound of Marcus's forced laugh and picked up his handbook. Ari paused for a moment as he stared at it, wanting to admire the tech, before peeling off the paper. He read it and groaned, ripping it up. Of course. Of course it had to be that he was born a girl, fantastic. He had no intention of letting the others know, having absolutely zero patience for the inevitable questions and idiocy. Luckily it wasn't something he'd kill someone over, but still. How annoying. He was already going to have to watch his back at this school what with all the -you-have-to-murder-to-get-out but if this secret came out, he was going to be to be even more careful. He looked over at Hayami, irritated by her cry. "Don't be ridiculous. We're not all going to die." He paused. "Just the murderer, apparently." He glared at the podium. "Stupid bear."
Mycle grabbed his crutches and hurried over to the fallen handbooks, his heart racing at the thought of someone else picking up his handbook and spotting his secret. His stomach churned as he searched them, bending down carefully, and scooped his up before clutching it to his chest, his crutch hanging off his arm.

Yep, this was her handbook. It even had her profile, as well as the other students'. Isabelle Skye, written in digital letters. She glanced up at Mycle. Geez, the guy was really freaked out... not that she could blame him. Just thinking about everything made her filled with dread. She took a deep breath and approached him. "...You okay?" Izzy asked, and then mentally kicked herself. Stupid question. Of course he wasn't okay!

Mycle jumped, turning wide eyes on Izzy. "Huh? Oh - oh, um, uh -" he stammered, waving the arm holding his handbook, trying to find the words to describe exactly how he was feeling, but at the same time not sure if he should. "Fine," he finished, his voice quivering on a high note, before ducking his head. All that verbal flailing around just to say one word. He bit his lip, casting his gaze to the side. He wondered if he should ask back. "... um, y-you?"

"Eh, I guess. I'm mainly feelin' like punchin' that bear in the face," Izzy replied with a shrug. That was mostly true. She didn't want to admit exactly how scared she was, though. Showing fear got you nowhere in the competition. She looked down at the piece of paper in her hand. "Do you think that stupid Build-A-Bear actually has our darkest secrets or some crap like that? There's no way he could know!" With renewed determination, she opened her paper... and her face fell. "H-how..." Quickly, she folded it up and closed her eyes. Deep breaths, Izzy.

Mycle didn't want to look. He didn't want his fear confirmed. And Izzy's reaction to her paper made the tightness in his chest grow all the more. But there's one thing that bewildered him the most. "Why would he want us to kill someone?" he almost whispered, looking down at his handbook and pressing the power button. "Why... why would he make us do something so..." he struggled for the right word. "... it's so irreversible. It would stain your hands forever. Who would ever..." He hugged the handbook again, his stomach churning. He still couldn't wrap his head around the horror, the anxiety that curled around his heart like barbed wire. This was really happening. He struggled to control his breathing.

Murder? Well that was new. I didn't sign up for this. But it wasn't so much the prospect of murder that got to Kihyun as the idea that some deep dark secret of his might be revealed. He's worked hard over the years to cover up his tracks...this...this bear was not going to be responsible for undoing all of that. Hayami, he noticed, had become almost hysterical. Kihyun himself didn't appear to be very affected by what was going on, at least on the outside. On the inside, his heart was racing, pumping with something that didn't quite feel like fear, nor adrenaline. There was a buzzing in his ears as he stepped towards the electronic handbooks, scanning them quickly before reaching for his own and gathering it up in his arms.
Hayami's prediction that they were all "going to die" seemed about accurate. A younger Kihyun might have resorted to the same kind of hysterics. But as it stood, he only wandered back over to her and stared at her. "...are you ok?" He's trained for years to keep his emotions away from work, away from the public, away from anyone and anything that might use those emotions against him. In this moment of uncertainty, in this environment that he was neither prepared for nor able to understand, Kihyun felt that his facade might crack. No. I can't let that happen. "Don't cry. Aren't you going to get your handbook?"

"How should I know?" Izzy opened her eyes and stared at the ground. "He's just plain nuts. Thinks this is some kinda twisted game..." She trailed off. A game? For what purpose? To kill everyone? For some social experiment? Well, if it was a game, the goal was to be the last one standing. Not killing didn't seem to be an option. She could name at least a few people who were cracking under the pressure already. "Even if we..." she muttered, and her eyes widened. Izzy shook her head. No. Stop it. But she couldn't get that thought out of her head. As Mycle began to panic again, she instinctively reached out a hand to... steady him? Comfort him? She wasn't sure what to do anymore.

◈ ---- This whole situation was hilarious to Hayami. She didn't know anyone's secret, as Monobear had refused to share that information with her, but the despair she saw all of them feeling was...amazing. She wished someone else was crying, though. That would've made everything so much more better. Still...she wasn't sure if this was enough to make everyone willing to kill, and if no one died in a day, that would mean she would have to do so. Which she really, really didn't want to have to do. She didn't shy away from the idea of killing, but as of right now, she still had to play by the rules of the game. If she killed someone, and everyone guessed it, Monobear would execute her. And though the people murdered were resurrected immediately after the trial, the murderer wasn't for quite a while. Hayami wasn't sure how long it would be before they came back.
Hearing Kihyun speak, Hayami's head snapped up, a genuinely surprised look crossing her face. She had expected him to be the one yelling at her for crying, but apparently she was wrong. She didn't necessarily like that he had sympathy for others, as if he was going to help her, that would get in the way, but she wasn't completely upset about the situation. If she could convince Kihyun to like her, well, her job would be so much easier. "I-I guess so." She wiped her tears away, forcing a smile. "Thanks for asking, rather than insulting me." She shot an accusative glance at Ari, before she stood up, brushing off her skirt. "I probably should, huh? I should figure out what dirt he has on me."
Hayami had been expecting her paper to be blank. Surely Monobear wouldn't reveal anything about her...but she was wrong again. She would've been fine if it just said she was a murderer or a traitor or something, but it was a genuine secret of hers, and her breathing started to speed up again, as if she was going to cry. However, she didn't, and she simply ripped the paper into tiny little pieces. No one needed to see that. "He really does have secrets that we don't want anyone else finding out..." she said softly, instinctively gripping onto Kihyun's arm. She was a clingy person, so her reaction to almost anything was to grab onto someone, especially if she was distressed. Who knew why.
--
After calming down a little bit, Leo started to look through his hand book, smirking when he got to his profile. "Yo, it even lists our achievements! How cool is that!" He seemed to be going back to his old self, though that was an act. In reality, he was still just as freaked out as he had been a few moments ago. He was just hiding it now, pretty well too. Other people didn't seem to be doing as good of a job at pretending to be calm - including Marcus, who looked like he was on the verge of panic attack. Taking pity on the other boy, Leo shut off his handbook, walking over slowly, as if he was mildly afraid to talk to him. Which, he kinda was.
"Dude, you okay?" He slung an arm around his shoulders, giving him the widest grin he could manage. "Don't worry! I'm sure no one will actually be willing to murder over a petty secret. And if they do, then I can most likely save the person who they tried to murder! I'm pretty good at medical stuff....and if you're worried about getting killed, don't be. I'll protect you, babe." He winked at him with a laugh.

Hearing the others just made Marcus's hands shake more. The papers were true for everyone else, judging by everyone's reactions. Did Monobear really have that kind of power to know this? If, so.. then... then... The jacket-wearing boy felt a sudden weight on his shoulders. A quick glance to the side revealed that it was Leo. The tension in his shoulders eased slightly as the doctor spoke. Yeah, he had to think positive. It was just pretty hard when there-
Wait.
Marcus blinked for a moment, trying to process Leo's last sentence. He let out a snort as he tried to contain his laughter. "'Babe'? Well that's new..." he managed to say before letting out a small laugh. A real one this time.

He didn't know what he had been expecting. Whatever it was, he certainly wasn't prepared when Hayami latched onto his arm. But he said nothing. If that's what she wanted to do, then he would let her be.
Once upon a time, Kihyun had been an emphatic person. He had been good with people, good at emotions - both expressing and responding to them. But where had that gotten him in life? Had it helped him succeed? On the contrary, it was only when he packed up those pesky feelings of his and hid them away deep inside of himself that life gave him a second chance. Kihyun wasn't going to throw all of that away, just because some black and white bear plush had trapped him in a school didn't mean that he could break down. Everyone else was in the same situation as he: they were all trapped, they all had secrets on the line, and they could all be targets.
No, not "could." They were all targets. And because everyone had the same vulnerabilities, it wasn't as if anyone had the upper hand. Yet.
But Kihyun was fooling himself if he believed that he wasn't affected by all of this. In reality, he was afraid. Maybe not as scared as Hayami seemed to be, but the dirt that Monobear had on him...how? How would a stuffed bear know? Even Kihyun himself had nearly forgotten.
"Look at this chaos." To the casual observer, the comment would seem apathetic. Bored, almost, like this was all nothing more than a big inconvenience. "Everyone's...nervous. Scared?" Me included. "This...bear...to him, this is a game. Isn't it?" For Kihyun, at least, this seemed like a game. An elaborate, dangerous game. The students were the game pieces, the pawns, and those secrets were a sort of twisted prize. If you killed someone, then your secret would be safe for another day. Looking at it all objectively, it was all nothing but a gamble. If I play my cards right... He could win. And the girl hanging off his arm? Kihyun turned to look at her. Anything could be useful to him at this point, even a girl who's first reaction was to break into tears.

Mycle didn't notice Izzy's hand under it rested on his shoulder as if in comfort, and the gesture made a sob bubble out of him. It was always the comfort that made him cry. For all at once, the gravity of the situation hit him. He was stuck. He was alone. And the only way to go back to his family was to kill someone, a real living human of the flesh and blood - he could barely stand the notion of killing a bee, let alone a person. And, in his hands, there lied a possible secret that would allow everyone's hate to descend upon him if a person wasn't killed by the end of the day. He stood stock still as to hold back to sobs that shook his body, burying his face into the crook of his arm to hide his tears. Fear nestled in his chest. Meanwhile, Ari stuck out a tongue at Hayami and stalked off towards the door, grumbling to himself. Welp, he couldn't trust anyone. Why was he still here when he should be preparing to barricade himself in his room? Let's see, first stock up on food... His mind whirled as he desperately tried to distract himself from his nightmare. How he wished it was a nightmare. It sure seemed like a nightmare. But, alas, when he tried to breath while pinching his nose he couldn't, and besides, he's never this clear-minded in dreams. He crossed his arms hard across the chest to try and ease the tension there. His pace quickened - he wanted to get out of that gym. ((someone can totally stop him ))

◈ ---- Did Leo probably look like an idiot in Marcus's eyes? Certainly. He was sure that Marcus was judging him for his comment, and was surprised he hadn't just shoved him off, loudly talking about how he wasn't "into that gay crap." He'd had plenty of people do that, which angered him. Just because he said something flirty to someone, didn't mean he wanted to get with that person....which was kinda strange, but Leo had never made much sense.
"Yep. You're babe now." Mostly because Leo didn't really know what his name was. It wasn't like he had been paying too much attention when everyone was introducing themselves, so he didn't know who Marcus was...nor did he know his talent. Oops. He'd look in his handbook later. For now, though, he'd call him babe. Since he didn't really seem to mind...hopefully. That would be weird. "So should we call a meeting or something? And talk about what's going to happen?"
--
Realizing what she had done, Hayami quickly let go, as she hadn't intended on doing that. It was an actual habit of hers, one that she needed to break. It was kinda odd to just randomly grab someone's arm.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable" She chuckled awkwardly, glancing around at everyone else when Kihyun started to speak. "Both, probably. Scared, nervous, angry...nothing good." Kihyun hadn't said "they" when mentioning how people were nervous and scared, so Hayami couldn't help but wonder if he was including himself in that statement. People driven by fear were very easy to manipulate, and she was sure everyone here was terrified right now. Good. That's what Monobear wanted, after all, and it was her job to keep him happy. Well, not really, but she knew if she were to upset him, Monobear would kill her without any hesitation.
"I wonder what everyone's secret is." Was it just as embarrassing as hers? Hayami assumed so, based on everyone's reaction. But hers...she had always been scared of people figuring that out, and now everyone might know within a day. The very idea made her want to panic.
Maybe Monobear wouldn't actually reveal her secret. Perhaps he would say one at a time? That was just wishful thinking, though. She knew how all of this worked. He would say everyone's secret, then hand out more papers, with more secrets. A secret every day. So basically, they were all screwed.
"I wonder...if there is a way we could not have to play in this game," she said thoughtfully, carefully looking to see his reaction. If she played her cards right, she could find out if it was safe to make an offer with Kihyun, or if she should wait a while. "Like...if we did something with Monobear. That's his name, right? I think so." She didn't want to seem like she knew too much about him. "Perhaps if we spied for him, or did something else to help his game, he would let us go at the end. We wouldn't have to kill anyone, but we would still escape. But....I'm not sure if I would want to do that....would you do that? If you got the chance?" She was hoping the answer was yes.

"I wonder as well." To know other people's secrets would be an undeniable advantage to have. In general, the more information one had, the better chance they had of winning. Like in poker, the moment you figure out what cards your opponents have, you've effectively won the the entire game.
But then Hayami said something that caught Kihyun's attention and he had to, once again, resist the urge to smile. Not playing the game, and still winning? Now she was speaking his language. The greatest feat in gambling is to take home the fortune when all you've done is set your opponents against each other. In many ways, Kihyun wasn't the most ethical of players, but there was no denying that he was brilliant at what he did.
What Hayami was suggesting was especially appealing because it took away a great deal of risk involved in this twisted game. Sure, working with Monobear introduced a new type of risk, but it would be a predictable risk, easier to monitor and easier to control. "Hayami, was it? Well..." The left corner of Kihyun's mouth tilted upwards ever so slightly and he leaned in enough so that she could hear him clearly, even if he whispered. "Any offer is worth taking if it brings you one step closer to victory."
