"Darkjay, Sandspirit, and Ambergaze are now warriors," Spiderpaw mewed with as much of a neutral tone as he possibly could. It was hard to not feel a bit bitter toward his siblings. They were reckless, careless, and accident prone, and yet, they were warriors already? Spiderpaw flicked his tail to dismiss the thought. "Hawkpaw, Emberpaw, Twigpaw, Flyingpaw, Springpaw, and Halfpaw are all apprentices too. I swear, Flyingpaw is going to end up a sack of bones in the medicine den one of these days. She's climbing everything with little regard to safety."

Aspenfall flicked his ear, listening to the conversation the other medicine cats were having while he waited for the others to arrive. He didn't care too much about the other Clans having new warriors, nor did he want to bother Peachdapple while she spoke to Specklecreek. He was curious, however, about if the other Clans were having issues with herb shortages. He knew Lightningstar was going to send the patrol to SkyClan soon.

I wish them all the best luck in their training.” She purred. Perhaps at the next gathering, she could see her kits, even if she knew she could never speak to them as if they were. |

Snowdance sat quietly as the other medicine cats conversed, more than happy to let them do the talking as she listened. She looked over at Opalmist, proud to see how far her apprentice had come in her duties.

"I...I remember Cedarstar's report at the gathering. That...that had to have been hard." Opalmist hesitated for a moment, though she tried her best to not let her grief show as she recalled the fire. "We are recovering. Starclan has granted us new kits this moon, and the territory is doing all it can to grow back to what it once was. Cedarstar's strength has held us together tightly." She explained, knowing the last thing the new leader needed was to be seen as incapable, even to medicine cats. "Your empathy is commendable, Spiderpaw." |

Even if we offer advice, and deliver signs, it does not mean that we can claim to tell our leaders they can or cannot attend to their duties as leader if they truly believe they can do it. This is a part that is hard for all medicine cats. Our leaders never want to show weakness, and you must understand that to them, not appearing for a gathering after such an event would seen as a grand sign of weakness." She shook her head. "Cedarstar is one of the strongest cats in the forest, but to some, it would not be so if he did not appear to speak for Shadowclan." She explained. |

Spiderpaw flicked his and frowned. He didn't exactly agree with what Opalmist said. Sounded like a bunch of stubborn prides, but he never did understand the warrior way of life. "Well, thank StarClan Spiritstar used to be a medicine cat and has more sense than the other leaders." Spiderpaw shook his head. "With burns like that, I guess Cedarstar lost his first life, huh?"

"That is not my place to say." Opalmist mewed evenly, knowing the kind of backlash that could happen if she revealed anything like that to anyone, even if it was a fellow medicine cat. The less attention given to her, the better... it was already eating her inside everyday to think about the ways she had broken the code, and while she had tried her best to continue on as a dedicated medicine cat, she knew sooner or later the truth would come out. She blinked the fear away, taking in a breath before she admitted.
"Spiritstar benefits immensely from being both a Medicine Cat and a leader. Skyclan is very lucky to have her."

"I do as well. I have ever since..." Opalmist suddenly felt a shock of emotion, though the dull ache in her head made her grimace. She gave a concerned and confused look, before she shook her head sharply. "Hm. Sorry, I just. Got a sudden ache there. Must be the trip, tired me out a bit." She waited until the ache went away, momentarily forgetting what they were talking about.

"Nothing to fret. Just a headache. It's gone now, though." Opalmist mewed assuringly, though inwardly she noted it as yet another odd pang in her head that seemed to happen sometimes. It would leave as fast as it would start, but no herb or treatment had ever stopped it. She had gotten used to it, but feeling now had been weird. She gave a small smile.
"Don't worry about me, Spiderpaw. Sometimes aches in the head happen for every reason under the stars. I'll eat some prey when I get back to Shadowclan and rest it off. We have a meeting to attend here."

"It seems so, yes. Windclan and Riverclan must be taking their sweet time." Opalmist commented, whiskers twitching lightly as she looked around for the remaining Medicine Cats. "Leave it to the younger medicine cats to be later." She teased, glancing at Peachdapple, Snowdance and Lavendersky, who were all well into their age and having made countless trips to the Moonstone in their long careers.

(Lavendersky's the oldest, right? She was born before Cliffheart and Robinstar. When Blackadder was still alive.)
Spiderpaw twitched his tail. "Eclispesky didn't even join us at the last gathering. He sat with some warrior the whole time." He found it hard to believe that the WindClan medicine cat wouldn't mingle with them. Eclipsesky allowed his apprentice, Dawnshadow, to greet the medicine cats while he spent the whole gathering sitting so some silver she-cat. Spiderpaw didn't know her name was Silverspirit.

"Ah... I remember noticing that." Opalmist mewed, her voice even, though inwardly she knew she could not pass judgement. The first gathering when she talked to Frostyfoot had been locked in her memory. Something about him seemed so familiar, so welcoming, that it had been hard not to keep talking to him. Of course now, they couldn't afford to speak to eachother at all at gatherings, but she quickly hoped that Eclipsesky would not suffer the same fate she had chosen to take.
"Perhaps they were discussing something important. Or they were kin."
