Songbreeze's ears fell back in sorrow as she watched the kits. It wasn't fair for them to lose their father. Just like it wasn't fair for Grovekit and Flowerkit to lose their parents as well. "It's going to be alright," she mewed gently. "Everyone grieves in their own way, but just because you can't see your father doesn't mean he isn't here." She gave Pinekit a partial knowing look. It was the same line she heard many times before when a cat died. Although, she wasn't fully sure she believed it herself, but it offered her comfort whenever her heart ached for her own kits. "Stormfury watches over you from StarClan. He's here. Held in the love you have for him, so he'll be with you always."

Cardinalblaze looked at Cedarstar as he righted himself into a more serious stance. Now, he could do a more formal report. "There's flooding damage all througout the territory. I sent Burninghope, Hazelblaze, and Vipertooth out to scout out the severity of it more thoroughly. Snowdance had cleared Hazelblaze for duty. She was adamant she go along, so I let her." He admitted, before he seemed to force himself to remain sitting straight up. Shaking away his tiredness, he rasped. "Racconmask is sick and weak, but she is recovering, and alive. Snakesong miraculously kitted on the trek to the Skyclan border, and all of her kits survived and are healthy, and so is she. It was... I'd never seen such determination before, like the pain was nothing to her." He admitted softly, before he shook away the distraction again.
"Stormfury was our only loss... besides..." He trailed off, silently referring to Moonpetal as he looked sadly at his leader's injuries. He wanted nothing more than to see Cedarstar unharmed. Starclan, he already had so many burns. Why did he need this awful reminder too. "I'm so sorry, Cedarstar. About the Moonstone. About what happened. I want to begin advanced battle training for all our Clanmates, apprentices and Warriors both. These prey-maulers are only getting worse. I think this might be the best way to be ready." He admitted.

Snakesong’s ears fell with confusion as Smokestorm fled from the den. She started to get up, but Hiddenkit’s squeak of protest kept her from standing. She helplessly stared after him, both relieved and saddened by his words. He did love her, but now she was assured that he was afraid of how their life together was at the moment. Brittlefoot watched Smokestorm go with a concerned scowl, though his attention was drawn right back to Songbreeze as she answered his question. He nodded firmly. “I do believe that a cat can change for the better. And that already makes your father a better cat then… then alot of other cats.” He mused, before he admitted. “For now, Cliffheart is still with us, with Shadowclan. We’ve got time, and that’s a better gift than anything else, right?” Smokestorm shook his pelt out as soon as he exited the nursery. Why was everything changing? Didn't Snakesong know he wasn't good enough to be a father? And for her to be a permanent queen? Did that mean she wanted more kits than the ones they just had??? He paced away from the nursery and headed to the warriors den, oblivious to what was happening in camp. Yet, even walking to the warrior's den, he felt hollow. It would feel so lonely without Snakesong. He felt as if their lazy days of napping peacefully or enjoying the sunshine around the camp were over. Kits were never peaceful, after all. Songbreeze smiled softly, but she was still wounded with doubt. "Time...yes. StarClan has taken so much, but we still have so much." She looked down at Grovekit and Flowerkit, but her ear was alerted to the quiet whine near the back of the den. StarClan, Cherryvine's kits. They heard everything. "Hailkit, Featherkit, Mistkit, Pinekit, come here." She smiled gently and reached her tail out to the younger kits. "Until your mother gets back, why don't you lay with us?" Brittlefoot watched silently as Songbreeze called the other kits over. He could now take the time to turn back to his sister, his ears falling as he noticed her crestfallen look. Bristling protectively, he turned to pad over to her. Leaning down, he listened to her words, and he felt his fur bristle even more. Of course Smokestorm had ran! Eyes narrowing, he was ready to go give the tom a piece of his mind, though Snakesong's urgent mew stopped him. "He's not ready yet. Not like I am. But he won't be ready if we force it." Snakesong mewed softly, her paw pressed to Brittlefoot's as she reminded. "I know exactly where I'm supposed to be. I... I know Smokestorm loves me, and I love him, but I need to put the kits first. I believe that he'll come around. I believe it." She whispered. Brittlefoot closed his eyes, but knew he could never argue his sister's judgement. He leaned down, murmuring softly to her. "I'll always be here. Even if Smokestorm's too scared now, you know I never will be again. You and I, we've got eachother, and that's forever." "Forever." Snakesong echoed, butting her head against her brother's before she gently shooed him off. "Too many in the den. Go on. The kits need us to calm them..."

Cedarstar couldn't help but feel a twinge of surprise from everything Cardinalblaze reported. Raccoonmask was sick? Snakesong had kitted? He actually felt grateful that Stormfury was the only lost. StarClan knew they typically had more when disaster struck. He made a mental note to go congratulate Snakesong at some point.
The mention of the Moonstone tightened Cedarstar's face. Prey maulers. Moonpetal's death. His son's injury. His own injures felt numb, because all he felt was tired. I went there to get answers, he thought with a slow blink. And I can't even get that. How was he supposed to look to the moon like Snowdance's prophecy instructed if he couldn't reach the Moonstone? How was he supposed to understand his visions if StarClan was out of reach? Cedarstar pushed the thoughts away with a deep breath. "Advanced battle training is a good idea." He flicked his ear twice and glanced toward the elder's den. His father was sitting outside it, ever watchful of him. "Get my father to help. The whole Clan should know his techniques." Cedarstar turned and spotted Cliffheart eating outside the medicine den with an impatient Spiderbite sitting beside him. He didn't take his eyes off his former mentor, but he spoke to Cardinalblaze. "I need to call the Clan together. Is that it?"

Whorlpaw slipped quickly over to her mother and siblings. It was comforting to feel her fur pressed against theirs, but she couldn't look at Duskpaw. "We found Stormfury," she mewed sadly. "He's dead." Her voice cracked. More than anything, she wished Palepaw would wake up. She didn't want him to end up like her mentor. Duskpaw's eyes went round, ears flattened to her head. "Oh.. Whorlpaw I'm so sorry. He was a great warrior." "He was, he may not have been born here in our clan, but he was a true Shadowclan warrior in the end. I'm sorry he didn't get to finish your training." Starrylight mewed quietly, knowing there wasn't much she could say to comfort her daughter right now.

Pinekit scooted away from his siblings, looking up at Songbreeze skeptically. "Everyone says that Stormfury used to be in Windclan. How do we know he's not stuck in Windclan's Starclan. Maybe he can't see us at all."
Hailkit's fur puffed as he started to get more upset. "Pinekit! Don't say that! Featherkit was right, you don't need to be mean."

Whorlpaw leaned against her family, but she tried to offer Duskpaw a smile. "I saw Cliffheart was awake. He could finish your training."
Songbreeze didn't force Pinekit to stay close. "WindClan's StarClan is ShadowClan's StarClan," she mewed smoothly. "There are no borders in StarClan. All Clan cats go there when they die regardless of which Clan they're from."

It'll be great to get his wisdom for this." He blinked once, before dipping his head. "That's the most of it. The entire Clan worked together to get to higher ground. I... I couldn't be prouder to be their Clanmate, and their deputy. Your deputy." He suddenly seemed to avert his eyes awkwardly, swallowing. "We should probably both rest after this Clan meeting. Littlemoon swatted some sense into me. I ah... we're no use this tired." He half pleaded, mostly wanting Cedarstar to rest more than himself.

As much as it should've warmed him that Cardinalblaze was flustered in his pride for the Clan, Cedarstar could only dread the thought of rest. What visions and dreams would await him if he did? And, what about Palepaw? He needed to be with his son. Cedarstar's ear rapidly flicked twice in betrayal of his stress as he turned away from Cardinalblaze and the rest of the patrol. He padded over to Clan Rock and his throat felt dry as he stared up at it. How many times had he jumped up on this rock in the past couple of days? He lost count. He feared falling from it and looking like a fool as he once had during a gathering. Cedarstar lashed his tail to summon his strength. He leaped and his back foot slipped on his landing, but he managed to keep himself from falling, his claws scratching the stone. I think I might hate this thing, Cedarstar mused darkly to himself. He cleared his throat and turned around to face the Clan.
"Let all cats old enough to stalk the night gather beneath Clan Rock for a meeting!" He tried to sound strong, but his breath was heavy in his exhaustion.

Cardinalblaze waited for the leader to pull his way up the rock. He quickly reminded himself he now had a protocol for this. He quickly padded to his spot at the foot of the rock, looking out at his clanmates instead of up at Cedarstar. He swallowed down his nerves, trying to imitate the composure he saw from both Falcontalon and Cloudscar.
Brittlefoot padded out of the nursery, looking up as Cedarstar called a clan meeting.
Spiderfang and Goldberry paused their conversation, moving to gather at Cedarstar’s call.
The rest of my cats gathered.

Shortcloud, Cinderspeck, and Sandflower gathered.
Cranekit looked at the other kits from a corner in the nursery. It was almost time for him to become an apprentice, but the discuss they were having about Stormfury had him upset. He didn't want to get involved.

Brittlefoot made his way silently to Shortcloud's side, offering her comfort and silently requesting some from her as well. Simply being near her made it easier to just stop and breathe the stress away. Stormfury's death had shaken the Clan, and he could tell that Cedarstar was far more shaken up too. Which meant, he surely had to have just now seen that his body had been brought back to camp. Brittlefoot looked up with an unreadable expression in his eyes.

Vipertooth, who was just returning to camp from her patrol, padded to the center of the clearing at Cedarstar's call. She was exhausted after a long day of being out in the sticky mud and burying crowfood and would have liked nothing more than to curl up in her nest until the next morning. Her curiosity peaked, though, at the call. Would it be about Stormfury or perhaps he would explain why the SkyClan medicine cat had barged into camp earlier. Her eyes moved around the clearing as she appraoched and sat next to Cinderspeck and stared up at the leader, waiting for his announcement.

Cloudscar's ears perked at the sound of Cedarstar's voice. He had stayed in the elder's den for much of the time since the announcement of Stormfury's death.. From his nest, he could just see Stormfury's dark grey tail, wrapped around himself as if he were sleeping. Cloudscar had only briefly paid his respects when the patrol brought back the body, not wanting to make too much of a stir over his grief for his son.
We should have had more time. He thought StarClan, I finally got to have time with my kin here, in my home, and you've taken him from me. From his mate. From his kits.
His eyes drifted to the nursery. Poor Cherryvine. The former deputy hadn't been able to bring himself to visit his son's mate and kits yet, unsure of how to behave around them. He had no right to the grief that tore at his chest like a fox's claw, not officially. The clan didn't know that he owned his place here to Northstar. That he'd once fallen in love with a WindClan she-cat and now it was their son that lay dead before him.
Oh Swallowfeather He sighed inwardly to his mate - a habit he'd picked up in the moons since her death - Keep an eye on him for me, would you?
Pulling himself out of his nest, he padded quietly outside and sat down again just next to the elder's den entrance. He curled his tail around his paws and did his best to keep his eyes fixed ahead and his head as high as he could manage.

Oakfall paused in his conversation with Lynxdapple to look up as Cedarstar called out the Clan summons.
Fuzzypaw quickly scurried away from where she and Lightpaw had been hiding near the Clanrock to join the crowd that would form, closer to the elders' den.
Featherkit turned her back on Pinekit, snuggling deeper between Flowerkit and Hailkit. Uncharacteristically harsh, she bit out. "Whatever. He can do what he wants, by himself!"

Shortcloud pressed against Brittlefoot in a silent form of support. Now wasn't the time to start a conversation, though she was curious about what had happened in the nursery with him and his sister. Instead, she followed his gaze to Cedarstar.
Cinderspeck flicked his ear and nodded to Vipertooth in acknowledgement. He looked a bit uneasy seeing Cedarstar ascend Clan Rock; the leader never seemed to do so with good news in mind.

Hazelblaze was tired after the patrol, but snuck to the back of the crowd near the nursery in case Cherryvine's kits were hanging around. She hoped they were doing alright.
Spottedpaw hurried to sit by Fuzzypaw and Lightpaw, giving the two she-cats a tired smile.
Falcontalon settled beside Cloudscar with sigh, "Stormfury was a good warrior and a great father. I'm sad he didn't get to raise them more than a few moons. Cherryvine had her nest full with six kits, and now she's going to have to do it alone."
Pearlkit pawed at Cranekit, "Come on! Let's go watch the meeting. I'm sure Falcontalon will let us sit with him."
Cherryvine stayed where she was pressed up again Stormfury's body, she wasn't going to leave his side until he was buried when the sun came up. She hoped the other queens could look after her kits until then.

Cedarstar waited for the Clan to gather, his ear flicking rapidly twice as he feared his exhaustion would make him a fool to his clanmates. He took a deep breath as most cats settled in. First things first. He wanted these SkyClan cats out of his camp. "Sandflower, Lionscorch, and Ferretclaw. You'll be escorting Cliffheart and Spiderbite back to SkyClan. Lavendersky is dying and I will not deny Cliffheart the chance to say goodbye."
Cliffheart wolfed down the rest of his frog, by Cedarstar's tone, he knew it was time to go. He stood and stumbled a bit, but Spiderbite was beside him. Disgust from watching Cliffheart eat the frog was plastered on Spiderbite's face. Cliffheart ignored him. He kept his head down as he started to walk through his clanmates. He didn't want to see the way they looked at him.

Cloudscar jumped a bit when Falcontalon sat next to him, too lost in his thoughts to see the former deputy approach. He allowed himself to glance over to where Stormfury’s mate was laying.
“Yes. I-“ he started to say, but his voice wavered and he paused to clear his throat. “Cherryvine has a long journey ahead of her. It’s not easy to take that on alone.” He thought back to the stories Swallowfeather had shared about their kits during hushed gathering conversations and secret border meetings. Now Cherryvine’s kits would be fatherless - like his own had been in many ways. “At least she will have the support of the Clan.”

(Cloning Lion!)
Lionscorch stood to his paws without a word at Cedarstar’s order, his eyes drooping with calm sympathy for Lavendersky’s plight. Every cat knew how important she was to Skyclan, and he knew this was a highly important task. He glanced at Sandflower and Ferretclaw, before he slipped over towards Cliffheart and Spiderbite.
“Oh, Starclan…” Lynxdapple murmured softly, saddened at yet another instance of death amongst the Clans. Lavendersky was dying?

Okie dokie)
Ferretclaw looked at Spiderbite when he name was called for the patrol. He nodded slightly and stood to make his way towards the Skyclan medicine cat. This certainly was a dark day for both Shadowclan and Skyclan if Lavendersky was on her death bed.

Spiderbite glanced at each warrior that padded over to him and Cliffheart. His scanning eyes noted every physical detail about them. He wanted to make sure he kept his promise to Snowdance and Cedarstar. None of the cats that came to him with SkyClan would get hurt. I can't do anything about the wounds they already have, though. With a glance at Frigidshard, Spiderbite walked alongside Cliffheart in order to support the injured tom. "We'll go as fast as you're capable, Cliffheart. Let me know when you need to rest."
Cliffheart wouldn't look at him. "I'll be fine."
Spiderbite pinned his ears back. Great, another warrior who's a bird-brain about injuries. He huffed. "Then we'll rest when I say you rest." Spiderbite paused at the ShadowClan camp entrance to make sure every cat was accounted for. "No one over does it, got it?"

Cloudscar nodded, and opened his mouth to reply. He stopped himself, however, when Cedarstar began to form the patrol. Cliffheart had a long journey of his own ahead of him, and it wouldn’t be the best of impressions to have both former deputies chatting over the young leader. He glanced at Cardinalblaze who had taken his position at the bottom of clan rock.
“He looks like he’s done this before.” He whispered, happy to change the subject for now. “I never got used to sitting beneath that rock.”
