We left this open hoping it could get settled because closing it would just cause bottled up opinions and hurt and closing a thread has never worked before
I was hoping I can find a solution, but I just want to ban all anti-lgbt talk

✞ (( Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. ))
k then
(( Revelation 22:21 - The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen. )) ✞ Explain the issue with keeping your opinion to yourself, please. I'm curious. ✞ (( Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. ))
Sure, let's keep this civil, please- I believe you're actually sane unlike some of these other people.
I don't feel as if most of us can keep these feelings contained inside of us. When the Anti-LGBT people start speaking against us, I don't feel as if any LGBT person can keep their anger and sadness contained in a bottle for so long, they need to vent and put those people in their places. But that's what I think, and you?

@redx leaving it open is causing more problems than closing it imo. Honestly this is why we need the cool down period. Get everyone off for two hours so they can calm the hell down.

"unless directly ask" …also how about we don't start picking out the loopholes of "if it starts with a question then it isn't hatred" because… Holly, I don't think you're understanding the point I'm trying to make. I'm not speaking about specific viewpoints or interpretations here. I've said it twice, there is a disconnect between what is considered hatred, and that's never going to change on here. So instead of wasting time failing to convince the other side to change their minds, I'm suggesting we find a middle-ground that keeps this a safe environment for LGBT+ while not barring Christians completely. Thus, my suggestion is that they should not speak on the subject unless asked. By this, I am not saying that the meaning of their belief changes because someone asked. However, this should cut out a lot of the trouble, which is mainly caused by people offering their opinions on such matter when nobody cared to know. That's 90% of the source of flame wars on the topic. This way, Christians don't feel like their religion is being infringed (regardless if other agree with their beliefs), but the opportunity to talk about such beliefs is much more restricted. Besides, rarely ever does someone directly ask another forumer for their opinion on the subject. So it guarantees that the LGBT+ community on here will see such things considerably less often.

closing things down has only caused more problems. people will talk about being silenced, and they're not entirely wrong.
let the thread wear itself out. let people settle things themselves.
just my suggestion. not that i have any experience with moderation, but, again, the "cool down" hasn't exactly helped.

@sandpaper @venxis can't we just ban hatred in general, or anything damaging to a person's well being? like i'm not saying everything needs to be all sunshine and roses all the time but yeahhhh the forums just seem to be a mess of opinions all directed towards hurting each other

Closing it isn't going to do anything and its not going to fix anything. Finding a solution is 100% more important, and it's a bonus if both sides can come to an agreement. this is a kinda issue that needs to be talked out, not bottled up

again, i raise the issue that simply saying "no hate speech against XYZ" will not end well, because of the clear differences in what people believe to qualify as hate speech. is needs to be more specific than that.
also, fade, could you not use gargantuan text? carry on your tirade if you'd like, it's just hurting my eyes a little e_e

@redx Close the thread and temporarily ban any anti-lgbt discussion until a more permanent solution is determined. Any topics made about this issue should be closed. Honestly, we need a stricter hand on OTD. This is why we have problems like this so frequently, because the staff of this site spend too much time planning and hesitating. I know you're trying to help, but right now we need order. Once order is established, then we can civilly work out a solution as a community.

However, what I've been trying to say that not everyone agrees on what counts as homophobia. And to some people, that belief is part of their religion, so they view it as a silence of part of their religion.
