"Psh, 'course," Ari said with a grin. "Guys and gals and non-binary pals just fall at your feet when you walk by." He leaned forward to wrap his arms around his knees. "And what's this 'babe' stuff? I'm Ari." He extended a hand. "Just realized I hadn't actually introduced myself. It's funny, actually - usually I know the name of a person before I spill all my troubles and woes onto them."

"You'd be surprised," Shafer cooed with a gross amount of confidence before he reached forward and shook this Ari's hand. "I'm Shafer. That's all fine. Names aren't that important to me. I get through a lot of life without knowing too many." He smirked and released the other boy's hand finally. "So who are you here with?"

"Careful, your pride is showing," Ari teased as he shook Shafer's hand. At the other's innocent question he rolled his eyes and gave a dramatic sigh as he fell backwards - or attempted to, with the armrest in the way. "Just my stepsister, and a couple of others," he grumbled into the arm he had thrown across his face. He heaved himself back up. "Though, there is this one guy - apparently he's my stepsister's friend since forever and we've like never met before now - he's actually pretty cool. He was trying to convince me earlier that life actually has some meaning, and did bring up a couple of good points." He tilted his head. "What about you? Or are you on your lonesome?" He couldn't help but add a teasing note.

"Is it? Oh, thank god. Lest I be mistaken for some giggly mary-sue who's biggest weakness is the inability to take a compliment." Shafer spoke theatrically before he fell silent to make room for Ari. He listened and nodded, smiled when appropriate. So it turned out not everyone in Ari's life was an oppressive monster. Good to know. "I'm here on my own. I made a few friends in England but none I'd particularly want to take home with me. I'm still looking for someone though~" He grinned and shot the other boy a wink. "Ahh, I can't wait to get home honestly. Hunt for my brother, send my father a letter, sleep in a familiar bed." He grew wistful, the genuine emotion looking odd on him.

Ari snickered at the mary-sue remark and rolled his eyes at the wink, giving Shafer a look that stated not happening. At least the other was happy to be heading home. How nice that must be, Ari thought, looking at Shafer's wistful face. It did look rather odd on him for some reason. "Is it safe for you to go home now? What with all the kidnapping hostage-y stuff?"

"I don't think Krykitty would let me come back if it wasn't significantly safer than when I left. The conference is over and everything's settled down so I should be fine." Shafer brought both hands back to rest on the back of his neck, massaging there slowly. His eyes fell shut as he let his head hang back. "I kinda wanna get home now though. Like right now. Ohh my god, I wanna go home. Ari, teleport me."

Krykitty? Ari would've been lying if he said he wasn't withholding a laugh at the cute nickname - at least, he was assuming it was a nickname. It would be hilarious if it were the actual name, though. Ari lazily waved his arm. "Whoosh - a bright light shoots down upon you from above. You feel an intense heat as your particles disintegrate. You're fading... fading... you feel yourself get pieced back together, and you slowly open your eyes... only to see you're still in the airport, 'cause people can't teleport, silly." He grinned at Shafer good-naturedly as he leaned his elbow on the back of his seat and his head on his hand. "Would be cool if we could, though."

"You're such a jerk, Ari, I trusted you." Shafer whined loudly and curled into the pathetic ball he already was internally. His cheek smooshed against the chair as he dragged his knees up to his chest, looking entirely pathetic. "For a mob boss, he gives the best hugs. Like honestly, he's just so big and solid, and he's even better to sleep with... I-I mean like next to. Like a cuddle buddy, god, get your mind out of the gutter, Ari!" He tossed a stray piece of fluff at him even though he hadn't even given him the time to misinterpret his words yet.

Ari burst into laughter, instinctively batting at the sight of the piece of fluff flying at him. "What gutter? I don't know what you're talking about," Ari said in that tone that says he knew exactly what Shafer was talking about. "You must've had some really nice nights."

Just the gesture made Ari turn quickly and stifle his laughter into his hand. "Are you inviting me to check you out?" he said rhetorically, still amazed at the guy's forwardness. He couldn't help but notice the glances turning their way and grew even more amused. He wondered if he should play along - he had to admit he was enjoying the conversation, with all irritation eased from his mind. He lifted his legs so that he could press his feet against the armrest nearest to the person whose name he still doesn't know and lean his back against the other armrest. He crossed his arms and tilted his head, allowing his eyes to drag up and down the other's figure, biting his lip for heck of it. Well, one thing's for sure - the other dressed ready to flirt. Ari didn't doubt that he could charm his way into someone's heart. "Eh. Not my type," Ari said, just to mess with him. Riandylan's amazement only grew, their eyes widening in awe. " Shot at? Whoa, where do you go?" They said excitedly, on the edge of their seat. "I went places where the locals didnt approve of me being around their 'sacred grounds'. Its rather hard to discover magic in urban areas, since everything has been paved over" Espia said.

(Yo guys I'm back. Sorry I didn't get on yesterday, I didn't get home until close to 8 and then I had to take my boyfriend home. Just glanced through all the posts; didn't read the roleplay so much but looked at the new forms. @sans: everything you have for your characters is good, but I would greatly appreciate it if you would perhaps flesh them out slightly more in their joining forms? Their appearance in particular is not especially descriptive. If not that's alright, but I would appreciate it. willowflower: I haven't completely read through all your forms yet, as they're pleasantly long and I don't have a lot of time right now, but as it stands they look good. If I see any problems I will inform you, but I doubt there will be and if there are they're probably minor.)

Eyy, Stri! How was the larp? Incredible?))
Shafer narrowed his eyes at the sarcasm and folded his arms over his chest in a childish huff. He slumped back against the chair but this time let his legs sprawl out, one in a relatively normal place but the other dra-ped over the arm rest between him and no one. Really completing that 'lazy teen' look. He didn't even look at the other boy when he spoke. "Okay. I'm gonna level with you, Ari... You have no idea." The seriousness of his tone came with zero warning beforehand.

(Yeah it was good. It was the Halloween game so we actually had, like, Freddy Kruger and Pennywise and some other horror movie villains running around, though I won't get into the lore/mechanics reasons why that's possible at the moment lol. Supposedly there was also Salad Fingers but I unfortunately didn't get to see that one T-T. Had some real good roleplay stuff too; my character's backstory is pretty much a complete mystery to most people but there was some roleplay where it got brought up so that was cool, very feelsy. It was chilly all weekend (especially at night) so I pretty much just ended up tending a campfire yesterday until game ended XD it was cool though. Good game overall. How was your weekend?)

I hate Slaad Fingers so much he's one of the few things that genuinely disturb me. My weekend was alright. I worked mostly. Which was lame but it's not like I particularly hate my jobs so y'know ^^
Also I'm here for the rest of the night. For the most part. I mean, I've got a therapy session in two hours for an hour but other than that, I'm totally present.))

((Hiya di-stri, welcome back! and thanks! ^.^ Hiya everyone!))
"Oh," Riandylan said. "That makes sense." They wrinkled their nose. "But how would you even start to look for magic? If it's something that doesn't need an object to do stuff, how would someone like us obtain it, or even sense it?" Their eyes light up as a lightbulb went off in their head, and their hands tried to keep up with their train of thought. "Unless you look for weird stuff going on - I've watched all these videos about mysterious disappearances and ghost stuff and psychic abilities in real life - but then, still, how would know it's magic magic and not something else? And how to actually use it? Unless we could build some sort of tool - but wait, would that even - well, what else..."
"Is that so?" Ari said, the seriousness of Shafer's voice catching him off guard. He leaned back in his seat (with his back to the actual seat this time) and looked up at the ceiling. "Yeah, I guess I don't." He fell silent for a few moments. "So... what's he like? Your 'Kitty'? Other than being an uber rich mob boss."

Shafer nodded his confirmation when it was promoted, eyebrows raised and lips pressed together solemnly. "Well his actual name is Kryotic Isle. Or that's what he's known as, I don't know his real, real name. No one does. But he really hates that nickname I've given him. But it's super cute, right?" He let his head fall back in order to look at Ari. "But he's pretty alright. Really work-obsessed and ruthless. I don't know, man, he's a jerk. But he's pretty nice to me. It's like imagine every tween girl's 'bad boy' fantasy and that's what I got. It's not what it's cracked up to be."

"Just the entire fantasy, it's bullsh--. Like yeah you've got this big shot looking out for you twenty-four-seven, but he's still a person and you still have to clean the blood off his hands when he's too clicked out to do it himself and it's really awkward when he cries because I forgot that he was capable of doing that, not to mention, I'm not even really allowed to leave the condo because otherwise I'll get killed or worse." Shafer sucked in a dramatic breath after all those words. He lifted a hand to signal that he was fine. "Not that I wanted to be a doctor or anything but like. I've never had a job and I feel like that's something I should've done at one point."

((Aaah I've got to go help with a dance show, probably will be back in a couple of hours!))
"That does sound tough," Ari said, realizing just how unreal it was seeming to him, and how some strange amazement was ignited in him at the privilege of being an audience to such a story. Then, at the same time, Shafer's talk of the tough protective partner reminded him of his first boyfriend, and of how even though where he came from was relatively progressive he couldn't help the stab of fear whenever going outside of getting clobbered in the streets or killed for his gender identity, especially after hearing warning after warning and deadly story after story. "And that's the thing with fantasies, I guess. There's no such thing as a perfect, all-good thing."

"The idea of magic has been around for centuries, and it's entirely possible someone, or something, discovered a way to use it or sense it, and left behind notes. Those notes are what I'm looking for. As for ghosts, well, I doubt they exist, and I've proven modern day "Psychics" are nothing more than actors" she said calmly. "But I have no tools, no notes, nothing. Nothing to show for every ruin and temple I've explored. Except for some scars, mental and physical" she said. And a dusty pack of cards she thought, but she quickly cut off that thought. It was just as likely to be a prank by the locals, given the fact that they were in perfect condition, and were identical to modern day cards. She knew because she had sent them through every test she knew of.

Everything about this conversation was already so surreal, he only realized that he had slipped into a deep dissociative state a few minutes later. Regardless, Ari was a treat. "That's... Very true. I wish it wasn't though. I wish Kryotic had the energy to clean himself up more often because when he doesn't, I have to suffer and I have to risk going out and buying new sheets because he bloodied ours right the hell up. Jerk." He was so passionate about that particular situation, it was easy to tell he didn't really know what to say at this point.

"Aw," Riandylan said, slouching in their seat. "That's too bad." Sad both that no notes were found, but also that ghosts and psychics might not exist. Truly a crushing thought. Riandylan was startled by a hand on their shoulder, and looked up to see Lindy's worried face. "Riandylan! Didn't you hear me calling for you?" She said, clearly distressed. Riandylan gave her a blank look, and Lindy flushed red. "I mean - when I came back no one was there - not even Mycle! Have you seen him? Or where Ari went?" Riandylan shrugged. Lindy groaned. "We're going to be getting on the plane soon, I'm sure," she mumbled into her palm. "Where are those two?" She turned to Espia and tried to smile despite her worry. "Oh, hi, I'm so sorry to interrupt you two." "It's okay," Riandylan said out loud. "Though it is sad that ghosts and psychics might not exist." Lindy blinked. "What?" Riandylan patted the seat next to them and beamed up at Lindy. "Sit down, we were just talking about looking for magic!" Lindy's smile wavered. "Oh," she said in that tone. "I... didn't realize you still believed in that stuff?" Her eyes darted over to Espia as if her question was directed towards her as well. "That truly sucks," Ari said as sympathetically as he could. He was mourning that his life wasn't as crazy and exciting when he heard a familiar voice speaking loudly somewhere behind him. When he peeked over his shoulder he balked at the sight of Lindy way closer to where he sat. Shoot, was she looking for him? He did not want her ruining his good mood. He swore out loud and jumped down from his seat, crouching in front of it. "I'm not here," he hissed to Shafer. ((Lindy hath arrived to mess things up ))

"Wait, what? What, why? Why aren't you here, Ari?" Shafer spoke stiffly as he glanced around frantically in search of whoever the other boy was freaking out about. When he didn't see anyone, he slumped in his spot and glared at nothing in particular. "I hate being out of the loop."

Ari glared over the top of the seat. "It's her," he growled. Quickly realizing that Shafer probably had no clue who he was talking about, he made a small gesture over towards where Lindy was standing before ducking. "The woman with the black hair and bangs? That's my stepsister Lindy. Aaah, I so don't want to talk to her right now." He waited for a heartbeat before taking another peek. "What is she doing?! Shafer, hide me! Or get me out of here!"

Shafer was at a complete loss. All ideas and best-case scenarios fleeing his mind and leaving him all alone, gaping and disassociating and with some random trans kid all but clinging to his legs. "What the hell do you mean, hide you? I'm pretty sure you're like five inches taller than me probably. Okay, f--- it." Shafer got to his feet and sent Ari one last solid glance before he turned every bit of his undivided attention onto his step-sister. Lindy, apparently. "Hey, I just wanted to tell you that I think you're really cute. What's your name?" God those words felt weird coming out of his mouth.

((Lindy witnesses everything she knew about the reality she lives in collapse into rubble. Still, she doesn't want to be rude, so she weakly waves back))
When Shafer sent him that glance, Ari brought his hands together and mouthed thank you. He wanted to burst into laughter when Shafer dropped the "I think you're cute" bomb but trapped it painfully in his chest as he held his breath and crept along the row of chairs as Shafer distracted Lindy. This was ridiculous, he recognized, but he couldn't give a f---- right now. He peeked over his shoulder and wondered if he would have a better chance of not being seen if he crawled.
Lindy looked up, bewildered. "What? Me?" she said. Riandylan looked up as well and waved.

Shafer sneered at Ari's thank you, feeling obligated to be salty about the entire situation. Though he couldn't deny the fact that the mental image of Ari desperately scrambling across the floor of the terminal was one that made everything worth it. "Yes, you," Shafer purred, slipping into his usual flirtatious facade rather than the awkward, dorkier one he'd displayed ust a few seconds before. He waved back at Riandylan with a friendly nod.
