( Sorry for the delay in reply. I got a little distracted with The Pack. 😅 )
The Comet was in sight when Sol was waylaid by a familiar voice calling his name. He had a moment to be amused when both dogs and Fury responded to hearing his name faster than he did. Artemis's ears went up, Apollo turned around, and Fury screeched. Sol leaned his head away from her, but of course it was much too late. His ears were ringing from the high pitched sound. "Thank you, Fury." She poofed out her feathers and just looked angry. But then, she usually did.
With a shake of his head, Sol made his way over to the man who had called him. Ezra Burke was a local fisherman and a retired naval officer. He was the man who had helped Sol's father rise through the ranks to Admiral, even though Burke was older and, to many, the better choice for the position. But Burke had never been particularly comfortable in a leadership position, though there was no denying he was a natural at it when he didn't think too hard about it. Sol tried to visit the man whenever he could, but Kuasta was not a common stop for the Comet, and even when they did make port there, there was no guarantee he would find Burke. The old sailor liked to spend long periods out at sea, just like Sol, only he no longer traveled very far. Just a couple miles up or down the coast was enough for him.
When Sol reached the berth where Burke's ship, My Fair Lady, was docked, he didn't bother with pleasantries. He took one look at what Burke was doing and simply hopped aboard to help. The two men worked in companionable silence, and before long everything was done.
Sol stepped back and wiped his hands. "Hello, Burke," he said with a smile. "Long time no see."
Burke took his time answering, distracted and entertained by his efforts to scratch Apollo's belly without getting scratched by the dog's involuntarily kicking back paw. "It sure has. What is it now, two years? Three?"
"Something like that." Fury returned to his shoulder and ruffled her feathers grumpily. She had been evicted from his shoulder when he started working, and she disliked it when anyone but her told her to move.
Burke tilted his head. "Is that the nice one or the mean one?"
Sol chuckled. "The mean one. So how have you been, Burke?"

Seth gave her a rueful smile and brushed a strand of hair off her face. "Trust me, darlin, you're doing plenty." He grabbed his book and climbed to his feet. He placed the book back on the pile and sat on the edge of his bed to take his boots off.
Andy didn't fight Lawrence, but he complained like a petulant child the whole way back to the older man's office tent. "Come on, boss. You know I don't do what that brat accused me of. He was just looking for a fight. I didn't do anything, honest." Andy was just a regular human, but he had been part if the Rebel organization for years, and he was very adept at getting valuable information on the enemy movements. But he also wasn't the nicest of people, and he had a bit of a reputation for being a mean drunk.
Isaoy didn't really acknowledge Lawrence's reminder, but he was a werecat. He rarely acknowledged anyone. His attention was on the walkway the golden-haired Dragon Rider and his friend with the not-so-hidden beast had gone. He had been watching the beastly boy from day one, but now he would need to be extra vigilant. That boy had no idea what he was or what he was capable, and now it was only a matter of time before everyone learned the truth.
Cami was in her tent, pacing and muttering curses. She was shaken up from the encounter with Andy, but she was also furious. At him, at herself, and at Cal for not letting her exact her own revenge on the slimeball. She wanted another chance to kick him right where it hurts. She wouldn't mind slugging him good too, right in his smug looking face.
As promised, Morgan followed Callum all the way back to their tent. Once there, he decided to play it smart and stay outside while Callum cleaned and bandaged his wound and changed his shirt. He was only in there for about five minutes, so Morgan knew he only did the bare minimum for his wound. At least it wasn't bleeding all over him anymore.
When Callum marched back out, he shot Morgan a fierce glare that Morgan ignored as he fell in beside him. "Where are we going now?"
"Cami's," was his curt reply. Cami's tent was about ten feet away from theirs, so the walk was short. He knocked on the pole between the tent flaps twice before sweeping in.
Cami spun around. "There you are! What happened? Did you teach that slimeball a lesson?"
Morgan whistled. "Harsh, Cami." But he was glad she hadn't been cowed by the incident. "Are you all right?"
"Of course I'm not! That asshole assaulted me! I'm gonna kill him, if Cal didn't already put him in a shallow grave."
Morgan just arched a brow at her. Cami was fierce and brave and independent, but she wasn't violent, so when she started making threats, it was little more than a coverup to hide how scared she was. Usually Morgan found it amusing. Now, he kind of wanted to help Callum put this Andy guy in a shallow grave.
"I didn't," Callum said darkly. "I was interrupted before I could do much to him at all. Lawrence will be sending for you shortly, if he hasn't already. I want you to make sure he knows you want me there. I'll be there regardless, but your support will mean less time is wasted arguing about it."
Cami nodded. She was still scowling fiercely, but she also had her arms wrapped around herself. Morgan stepped around Callum and pulled her into a hug. He pressed a kiss to the crown of her head. "I'm sorry, girly," he whispered.
She shook her head, which he felt more than saw since her face was buried in his chest. "Not your fault." She sighed. "I miss Seth."
"You and me both." Callum was proving he could be a scary dude when he wanted to be, but in this camp, with these people, Seth was scarier. Morgan had learned early on that just dropping Seth's name was like summoning the boogeyman. That didn't bode well for getting Seth to join the Rebel ranks, but at least if he had been here, even if he hadn't been with Cami, everyone, even a dumbass like Andy, would have been too afraid of him to go near his little sister.
