Cal frowned, thankful Finley couldn't see it. Christmas tended to be a strange holiday for the Davenport family - Christmas was Cal's birthday, so that in itself sort of took the magic away from the holiday, seeing as it was always an awkward moment during Christmas when the Davenport boys were children and Tyler or Brandon would ask why Cal got more presents, or when Cal would ask why his brothers got presents too. Plus, after Ty's death, the family stopped celebrating all together; it just simply turned into Cal's birthday. For the past two years, Cal's parents had been going down to Florida to celebrate the holidays and celebrate Cal's birthday; but this year, it was going to be a pretty hectic one. It was going to be Cal's twenty-first birthday, which, as Olivia put it, was a milestone age, and Brandon's daughter's first Christmas; this meant Cal was going to be the one traveling back home. He'd only be able to say for three days, too, which sucked. He hadn't told Finley this yet, since she really wanted him to see the holiday show, but it didn't look like he'd be able to make it. Cal just figured he'd deal with that when the time came.
"That sounds more like what I was imagining," Cal nodded. The Davenports weren't regular theatre-attendees, so this was probably Cal's third or fourth time even in the local theatre. "Do you think I can stay back here? Convince whoever's in charge I'm playing the dancing tree in the second act?" It was a joke about his height, yes. People loved making the tree-in-a-play joke with him all the time, so he decided to embrace it. Over the top of Finley's head, Cal did another sweep of the room, looking at everyone gathered.

(It's okay, Feather. You had a perfectly good reason for not being on. It's just good to see you're okay.) (I'm doing good. I finished watching Wakfu and ASKFHDKSJDJDKSKD!!!! I can't wait until season 3!)
"Then follow me," the guard said, turning and walking out of he room without even making sure she was following.
"I'll be right behind you all the way," Baltore whispered to Lumi as they left the room. "No one will do anything to you during the trial. We'll get through this."
(Sorry it's short. >.< )
Flynn did his best not to react to the vet as he was placed onto the table. Even though he wouldn't have bitten the man, he was glad for the sedative. It took some of the pain away. Laying his head down, he let the man do whatever needed to be done, whimpering slightly when something caused the pain to worsen.
Sophia giggled slightly at his comment. She could hardly believe she was doing this. Yes, Daniel seemed nice enough, but if her parents knew she was heading somewhere with a stranger she just meet five minutes ago, they would freak out. It went against everything she had been taught as a child. Yet she didn't change her mind. Daniel hardly looked like he had any I'll intention, and if she decided to change her mind, she hoped he wouldn't be too mad at her.
~*
(It was perfectly fine.)
Charles chuckled at her words. "No, don't apologize. You actually hit the nail right on the head," he confirmed. "It's not the most exciting life, living with a Nobel lifestyle. Everyone's always so worried about being proper and following procedure. Everyone steps around you carefully as if afraid to offend you. It's suffocating really. Sure, that life has it's perks, but it's also more crippling than anything. It's one of the reasons why I came to visit your town."
As she explained the parts of the town, he listened intently. Memories of the town resurfaced to his mind, but he didn't offer any comments on any certain place. He much rather enjoyed listening to her talk. These past few days it felt as if he was the one who had been doing the most talking, son it was nice to listen for a change.
Beats me if I know why we get all the weird stuff. Skinny jeans aren't that bad though. I have a few that are really comfortable. But you won't catch me dead in heels, Tori signed. A T-shirt Revolution? That actually doesn't sound like a bad idea. She giggled a bit and scooted over so she could lean back against the headboard of the bed. We'll 'll just wear sweatpants and men's shirts. I don't know if anyone will take us seriously, but it sounds fun.
Finley laughed and turned in his arms so she was facing him. "Not unless you want to feel the wrath of our instructor, Mrs. Dawson. She runs a pretty tight ship around here, and she makes sure no outside boys get in. By the way, how'd you find your way in? I thought you said you weren't going to make it back here before the show starts."

Daniel wouldn't be mad at her if she decided to change her mind and back out. He understood, especially since he was a stranger to her. He just couldn't help himself asking her along because she did seem familiar but he didn't know from where. It could have been from a class or he could have seen her walking by one or more times but never talked to her. It was wondrous really. He shrugged the thought away and unlocked the door, climbing in on the drivers side. He then leaned over the middle and opened the door for her before she could herself.
---
"That does sound boring and frustrating. I probably wouldn't fit into that lifestyle honestly. People call me too chatty and I'm not afraid to call out on people if they're acting wrong or something. They tell me to work on being quiet but that just doesn't happen; I've tried." She shrugged and walked for a moment more before asking, "would you like to go through this part of town? You really don't have to but if you ever come here and get lost it is a good thing to know because these streets can get confusing."
She herself had gotten lost here once or twice before when she was younger but then found out to look for the wall and head straight there. She could eventually make it back home then. "If you need advice to get out of there though, just walk to the wall and you'll eventually find your way out."

Hal looked up when he heard a familiar voice, and smiled when he saw it was Cora. He immediately stood up to approach her.
"Good evening, Cora. And no need to call me sir" he said as he approached her. It seemed crazy for her to be treating him with such respect when it was clear that in this situation he shouldn't be getting any. It was actually sort of uncomfortable for him, if he were honest. Here, after all, Cora was of higher status than he. All he wanted was for the two of them to forget their roles and to just talk to each other normally.

Cal let the comment about Mrs. Dawson slide, but not before he rolled his eyes. "I didn't think I'd be able to," he confessed. Cal had been a little bummed about it, too. Finley had increased practices leading up to the performance, and Cal had a family reunion that required traveling, so they hadn't seen each other in quite a bit and Cal had felt bad that he hadn't been able to wish Fin good luck in person. He'd brought this up to Mrs. Knox, who'd quietly told him the easiest way to get backstage. "Your mom told me about the stage door, how it's kept propped open. So, well, here I am now."

Miley watched as the vet clipped the hair around the area and began to wipe the wound with disinfectant. He cleaned it thoroughly and bandaged it up. When he was done with that he put a cone on him and gave Miley antibiotics to give him. " Oh shoot, I forgot my money at home since it was an emergency. Can you send me a bill?" The vet agreed and Miley gave him the address of the research facility. She didn't have any money so she lied easily about it. He then put a leash on Flynn and handed it to her. " Let's go buddy." She said, trying to act natural as they left.

Sophia walked over to the passenger side of his car and got in as soon as the door was unlocked. She settled into her seat, closing the door and buckling up. "So, are you still going to keep me in the dark about what we're doing, or is it still a secret?" she asked. ~* "Actually, we could use some people like you," Charles informed her with a smile. "Or like your personality. It would do all the nobles good to get called out for their bad ideas. Honestly, it takes more energy to try and be politically correct all the time than it is to simple say what you're thinking." At the offer to go through the streets of shops, he thought for a moment. He did want to interact with people while here, and the shops might just be the places to do so. "Sure, why not? I would quiet like to see everything that I can. That is, if you don't mind taking me."
"Forgive me, it's a habit," Cora replied with a small smile. She was normally one of the few servants who helped serve the soldiers, so she had to use the title of "sir" in nearly every sentence she spoke. It didn't seem any weirder for her to give the title to Hal either since he was a soldier. Granted, he was a prisoner at the moment, but he was still a soldier. "I hope you will be able to rest well in here. It's an hour from sunset, so I imagine you must be ready to get some sleep, if you haven't already."
"Of course, she did," Finley said, smiling. Her mother had grown to like Cal almost as much as she had liked Ty. He was still a bit more out there than his brother had been, but other than that, Mrs. Knox, or Lexi, had accepted Cal's relationship with her daughter in stride. Finley should have known her mother would have told him about the door. "I should have known. Either way, I'm glad you got the chance to sneak back here. I'll admit I was kind of worried you wouldn't be back in time."
( ღℳ𝓲𝓷𝓽𝓼𝓽𝓻𝒆𝓪𝓶ღ Sure! They're both yours. Just fill out your characters' forms, and we can get things started. ^^ )
Flynn carefully jumped down from the table as soon as she said to go. He was a little ticked off about the cone around his neck, but at least he would be able to take it off as soon as he left. Until then, he stayed close to Miley's side as they walked out of the veterinarian's office.
The smile on her face grew as he asked her about the concert. It was amazing. I watched videos of their live performances before, but actually seeing them in person was the best. Thank you for coming with me. It means a lot.

Alec's own smile grew just watching hers. See, this was what Happy Tori looked like, and he like Happy Tori. "You're welcome. Wild horses couldn't have kept me away!" he declared, then chuckled. He raised his eyebrows slightly, trying not to smile. "Do I get a proper thank you kiss?"

"No need to apologise at all," Hal had replied gently as he grabbed the food that had been pushed through "I think I'll be fine. It usually takes me a while to fall asleep in a new place, but it'll be alright."
He had suffered from many sleepless nights when he was first captured. The pain of his wound had kept him awake most of the time. Not a great experience, he had to admit.

Miley led him out of the veterinarian's office and down the street a little ways before she leaned over and took the cone off. Tossing it in a nearby trash can, she looked around before looking back to him. "Well now want? Where do we go?" She really didn't think her plan through all the way, not thinking she would get this far.

Tori could have taken that moment to tease him or give a witty one-liner, if she was able to actually think of one. Sadly, she lacked Alec's ability to create such phrases. Besides, she was in too good of a mood to possibly ruin it with some half formed joke. So, instead, she just smiled and leaned over to give her boyfriend a slow kiss.
"If there was anything I could bring you to make resting more comfortable, I would," Cora mused with a sigh. "Sadly if I tried, I may end up being your neighbor in the next cell." She wasn't really sure if that was what would happen if she tried giving the prisoners any blankets, but the guards had made sure to let her and the other servants now that they weren't suppose to give them anything more than the minimal amount of food and water that would keep them alive.
"We can either find an abandoned building to camp out the night, or go to a homeless shelter and get some food. Either way, it'll give us a chance to make plans on what to do next," Flynn replied. He had't changed back into a human yet for many reasons. One was that he would be able to walk faster as a dog than as a human in his current state. The second reason was that he could keep a more alert watch around them without anyone getting suspicious. A guy looking around would cause people to think he had done something wrong, but a dog looking around was normal.

"Hey, your mom's gonna be the woman sneaking be backstage when you're on Broadway," Cal told her, with an air of finality. Cal knew she wasn't going to college for dance, but he'd always jokingly called her the next Broadway superstar, as a loving joke. Regardless, Cal knew Lexi liked him - at least a little bit - but he still hadn't expected her to sneak him backstage. At Finley's next words, Cal confessed, "I was worried too." He had gotten home that afternoon, so he wasn't totally sure if he'd be able to make it. Luckily, he'd obviously wrangled a few hours to be free from unpacking and doing some errands to be at Finley's recital, which he was overly excited about, seeing as Finley's dancing was important to her.

"It's fine" Hal replied "I don't mind. Are they really harsh on you here, then, Cora?"
It sounded like Cora was genuinely a little afraid, and that was slightly surprising for Hal. He thought they might have been nice to their servants, but it would seem that it wasn't just the prisoners who got a rough deal around here. Though, to be honest, he wasn't sure why he was actually surprised by this.

Alec smiled and reveled for a moment in the feeling of being kissed and all the electric sensations and iridescent thoughts that went with it. He kissed her back gently, waiting for her to pull away first. His whole body felt like it was both leaning and being pulled toward her when she did. Quietly, he said, "For the record, I don't really expect a kiss every time I do something for you. I just wanted an excuse to kiss you."

"I don't doubt that one bit," Finley agreed, giggling. Her mother was also so supportive of her dance, and even urged her to go to dance school. Finley had thought about becoming a professional dancer, but she would also be taking a risk if she didn't make it big. Maybe once she had a stable career to fall back on, she might try to pursue dance full time. "I'm glad you could make it," she said, wrapping her arms around his neck to hug him. "Now I have to make sure I don't mess up."
"I have yet to meet or hear of any castles who takes great care of their staff," Cora replied. "Since most of the war prisoners are sent here, things are more strict for everyone. We all have to tread carefully."
Tori held the kiss for as long as she could before pulling away, keeping her head close to his. I know, but I feel like it's the only way I can thank you the best, she replied. It was hard to convey her gratitude in signs, or at least that's how it seemed to her. She always thought signs never conveyed any emotion like spoken words could. So she actually didn't mind giving him a kiss every time Alec did something for her. It helped make her feel like she was at least showing her gratitude to him in a way he would know she meant it.

"We communicate a lot with kisses, don't we?" Alec mused, combing her hair away from her face gently. "'Thank you.' 'Don't cry.' 'I love you.'" He smiled. "Might not be the best literal translation, but it works for me." He realized he'd been staring at her lips like a total weirdo, and snapped his eyes back up to hers. It didn't make much difference. Everything about her was...intoxicating, he supposed, even though the word sounded kind of like a fake-British-accent attempt to sound refined and cool. He couldn't think about anything else, not right now, looking at her, with her entire grasp on all his attention. "You make me feel kinda crazy," he muttered.

Tori smiled in turn, pressing her forehead against his. The position didn't let her study his face very well, but she didn't mind. It was his voice she was more or less focused on at the moment. After spending as many years listening to him ramble on about random topics his mind created, most people might have grown tired of him, but not her. She was completely obsessed with his voice, as weird as that might sound (her obsession, not his voice). Especially in moments like this. Alec's voice just seemed to calm her more than anything. Is that a good or bad thing? she asked, being sure she didn't accidentally hit him as she signed since they were so close.
"Well, if I hear anything that might concern you, I'll be sure to report it to you," Cora offered, smiling. "You at least deserve to know you're being talked about."

Lumi didn't look back at Baltore as he spoke to her, but just smiled softly to herself, closing her eyes for a moment. She would be okay, even if she wasn't. With friends like Baltore, someone like Loran... She had to just believe everything would be alright. If she were to wallow in her sadness and walk into the courtroom crying or being negative, then this would for sure be the last day she ever saw the sun rise. But... No. That was not her part of her story.
She opened her eyes once more after taking a deep breath, before heading off in the direction the elven guard had headed, making quick mental notes about the ever-growing beauty of the castle. However, it was really hard not to focus entirely on what was ahead, so Lumi couldn't entirely appreciate what was around her, especially when the big doors leading to the courtroom loomed before her.

Every one was a lot more relaxed around each other, even her father. Mark Knox still was a little strict when it came to Cal and Finley being alone together, but other than that, he had calmed down around the boy. Or he was a little less intimidating at least.
Finley found them in the lobby and hurried over to them. Her mother was the first to see her and meet her with a hug. She was bombarded with compliments on how well she did, how well the show was, and how well everyone did. It was the same compliments she always received, but she accepted them with a patient smile.
(If there's anything I can do to help, just let me know! If you ever need to talk, I'm always here.) (They are the best OTP EVER!!! And poor Ad! The little dragon was so heart broken at the end of the OVA. I just want to hug him!)
The guard paused at the doors of the throne room, waiting for them to catch up. Once they were close enough, he opened the doors to admit them in. The throne room was a spacious room with vaulted ceilings and white marble floors. On the three walls were floor to ceiling windows made out of multicolored glass, dappling the room and its occupants in dazzling spots of color. To the left and to the right, the 26 members of the Council were seated. Women and men alike, dressed in rich fabrics and wearing jewelry of every kind, stared in the direction of the open doors. Some even craned their neck to get a look at the human. At the opposite end of the room sat the Queen. She was a stunning figure with silvery blonde hair, pale skin, and bright, yellow eyes. Upon her head sat a delicate golden crown. She was dressed in a flowing, light blue gown that hid her feet even as she sat.
This was a scene Baltore had seen only a few times before. On a normal day, the sight of the elves gathered together wouldn't have phased him. Now, however, Lumi's life was being brought into the hands of these people. Even if his relationship with the girl was just the beginnings of a friendship, he still worried for her.

Cal waited, partially away from the group, allowing Finley's family to shower her with compliments and the flowers that they told Cal not to bring. He didn't want to tear Fin away from her family time - after all, it was precious, and sometimes you could never get it back. Cal was witness to that. When Finley's assault of praise was over, he finally had his time to put his two cents in. After a tight hug and a quick kiss - considering Mark was standing right there - Cal pulled her away and spoke. "You really have a talent, Fin! You're amazing." Cal pressed a kiss to the top of Finley's head after that. It looked like he was more excited than she was for her recital, but it was sort of adorable. After all, this was the first girl he ever was in a relationship with that he didn't have to compete with at sporting events, so it was nice knowing he didn't have to kick her butt in something.
