I mean
The longest novel ever written was 1.3 million (according to a quick google search)
how does one write 29 MILLION in less than a month? According to NaNoWriMo, it's highly possible.

Yes, apparently it was published in thirteen volumes! That's a lot of words. It's "In Search of Lost Time" by Marcel Proust.
I did some more googling and according to this list I found it's only the second longest, and the longest one is 2.1 million words over ten volumes. I barely have enough material to write up a 50k novel, much less one that long!
I don't think the 50k mark is really all that important. NaNoWriMo is mostly about being free to write without worrying about the quality of your work or anything, so whether you get 10k or 100k it doesn't really matter. I guess 50k is more of a goal? I know I wouldn't be motivated if I didn't have something to work towards, but we all are motivated differently.

I have a mostly free week now so I need to get a move on with my writing  I really wanna do better than last year, and I'm still vaguely hopeful for managing 50k ^^'

Okayyy so if I manage my "chapter every two days" momentum I have going here I'll probably be finished my story by the 25th, so I'll have five days to edit and add more scenes so that I can boost up my word count for the last days and improve writing quality and whatnot. I am so proud of how I'm doing right now, actually! I'm pretty high up in words and am doing far better than I've ever done in NaNo before.

Wow! That's pretty long  The novel I've been working on for a while now is 93,000 words, I believe (unless I'm already at 100,000. I forget xD) but man that's so long!! Like... crazy long xD Good luck, Fuzzy! You can do it! (: And congrats on getting so far already! Dark; yay (: I wish you luck. |

Wow, 93,000 is impressive! I've never written anything beyond approximately 60k. Hopefully that will change this year! (The longest thing I've written is still that warriors fanfiction I wrote... oh dear... four/five years ago. Has it really been that long?)
And thank you! I haven't been able to write all day today until 8. I appear to work best after 8:00 at night, which is very inconvenient when I had the whole day to work on it but didn't! I got 3.5k out in an hour though. I'm frustrated with the length of my chapters now; they've had an average of 4k but this current chapter is looking to be about 6k and I'm rather upset with it because I can't change it without messing up the pacing of my next chapters. Sigh.

I'll have to check it out and let you the exact number at some point xD I had to take a hiatus from it because of school. But it's my baby<3
My warriors fanfic was 120,000? Unless it was 70,000. It was a while ago, as well xD 120,000 sounds pretty nice, but I feel like it was more around 70,000 xD
edit: the word count for my warriors fic was 106,615. I was close xD Which means if that's 106k, then the story I'm working on at the moment is probably around that xD
Hey, whatever works, right? XD I wanted to write today, but I have been busy xD Maybe I can get something done tonight? XD Sometimes I do the same, though, with writing right before I should be going to bed xD That stinks about not getting the word count you want for the chapter, but at least it'll add to your overall word count (: My chapters tend to be longer than shorter xD
