I'm interested in it, but I'm not doing it this year. Reason being that I just got out of college, and writing a ton in a short amount of time reminds me of essays…  The word limit is easy for me, but I also like to plan stories. I want to attempt it next year, so I have time to plan out what I want to do. I also believe that the contest is original fiction, and so far I've only worked with fan fiction. I want to practice with original fiction a bit before try something like that. |

I have a decent outline, but I don't feel prepped either xP I have a few resolutiony scenes in mind and for once I actually have a middle to the plot but I just can't seem to find a good way to tie the end together :/

I feel the same way! I know how I want my story to end + how it's going to get there but only a vague idea of what happens (it's mostly "wandering around on a spirit island" which I definitely can't pull off without at least a few significant events.) Ahhh.
Also this is unrelated but I'm planning on starting a word war for maybe half an hour this Saturday (the fifth) at maybe 4:00 PM forum time? I feel like that should be a relatively reasonable time for the people in North America, but I'm not really sure how many people on here live elsewhere so there's a chance that could be a problem!
... when I made this post I said "fun challenges" but really I have no challenges in mind aside from word wars, so

I guess I'll get a better idea for how the climax should go when I'm actually writing the middle of the story. By then the characters should be a bit more fleshed out too and that might give me some ideas xD
Aw I can't do it at 4:00 :/ maybe an hour or two earlier tho. I've never done word wars but I'm sure it'll be fun! We could also do themed prompts or something- like everyone write a chapter for their nano project that somehow incorporates an idea/thing/action in it. Or one-shot prompts for if someone gets stuck and wants to keep writing, just not their nano work.

I just signed up like 4 hours ago and I'm gonna do it. I have been wanting to write this sci-fi thing I've had in my head for four years and I'm taking a creative writing class and I feel ready. All I do at school is write in my notebook anyway so I'm ready. Maybe. Idk I have a stressful week ahead of me already school-wise so hopefully I don't loose my mind

It's here! I'm really excited for this, this is the first time I've tried not doing extensive planning beforehand, so we'll see how it goes. I'm threelittlewishes on the regular site, feel free to add me if you'd like.
I'd love to participate in some word wars if you'll have me! I could use the extra kick start. I'm in Sweden, though, so I'm quite a few hours ahead of everyone in North America. I believe it's a five hour difference between me and forum time, but I'm not sure. I really can't do any later than 4pm as I'm hoping to get at least some sleep this month, even though I'm getting up an hour early every day to write. We'll see how that goes, usually not well, haha.

Yes! I'm so excited for this month, I finally finished all the world Building I've been doing for 4+ years and am ready to write. The only problem I have is managing to write two English papers on the side...

I have the month planned out so I have two (maybe three?) nights where I'm busy (one of those being the premiere of Fantastic Beasts, which I'm not missing for the world, and the other being my birthday party, and the tentative one being a jazz night at my school.) So I'll have plenty of free time, I just need to actually do it.

I met the daily goal and passed it by only twenty words, which is really not great but at least I made the first word count goal. It ended at the scene change too, which was convenient.
I may work on this later tonight, maybe not. I'm not very happy with the quality of this but at least it's something?

I only got to 1250 words yesterday, but since I was busy, I'll take it. I'm back on track for today though, I wrote around 1000 words this morning, I'm going out now and then I'll be sitting down again when I get back. My goal for today is 3000 words, just because I'll be missing three days this week and next, so I want to make up for it early. We'll see how that goes though.
And about the quality thing, I'm there too. Last year I tried to not only write but write something good, and I ended up missing my goal by 20k. Oops. So this year I'm trying my best to not care. I used the same sentence started three times in a row? Too bad, it's there now. It's been really difficult so far and I'm only a day and a half in, but I am writing a lot more, so I'm not complaining. I keep telling myself that I don't go back to change anything until I have at least 50 thousand words down, and that helps a little.
