Who actually legitimately reached 50k in the first day? That's pretty ridiculous. According to some quick calculations I made, if you type an average of 65 words per minute it would take you nearly thirteen hours of non-stop typing in order to reach that. I'm sorry, I really don't think that's possible. You need to sleep + eat and stuff at some point. I can barely crank out 2000 in a day (but that's partially because of my need to procrastinate all the time.)

I have just under 3000 right now, so I'm a little bit hehind schedule unfortunately. I'm proably not going to get much done today either, but tomorrow I'm free all day so I'm hoping to get at least 3 or 4k then to catch up.
A friend of mine who did NaNo with me last year managed to draft an entire trilogy last year, I think she ended up at 278k in the end. She dedicated the entire first week to writing since we were off school, and then she just wrote whenever she had a spare second. She decided not to participate this year, though, which I can understand. There's a lot more for us to do this time around. |

Good luck to everyone doing the challenge! I'm not (too many other things I want to write, plus I don't have anything planned out), but, as I mentioned before, I plan on next year.
Anyway, as for how someone could get 50k done in a day, inaction could be possible with the help of other software. For example, I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking, a voice recognition program. This program automatically right words as I talk, and has been proven to be at least three times faster than typing (depending on how experienced the speaker is, and how much they have practiced with their files). So if you have something like that, I could see 50k happening if you're dedicated.

I have about 1400 words, an English essay, some bio homework and a project proposal (also bio) that I have to do and guess how much of it I've done in five hours at home? None. I took a nap to avoid working. Yikes.
Oh well, I plan on writing 8k over the weekend anyways so I can get ahead on NaNo, but with all the homework I'm procrastinating I don't know how easily I'll be able to do that.
