Sebastian Serafin "Yes, okay, I'll teach you."
The mere tone of his brother's amused chuckle made Sebastian's blood boil. Liesel wanted him, an utter ignoramus, to teach her to handle a sword? How stupid. Idiotic. Insanely delusional. Tobias knew enough about swordsmanship to avoid getting himself killed in battle, but between the two of them, he was no expert. Now Sebastian knew what he was doing, something that certainly didn't apply to his ignorant, arrogant brother. He was an imbecile. Both he and Liesel were. And the way he was obviously flirting with her..well, Liesel would be stupid to think that she was anything more than a source of his entertainment. Tobias was the kind of man who liked a challenge. He always seemed to be attracted to a woman who didn't immediately bow and worship at his feet. Since Liesel did not, she held Tobias' attention, but it would be short-lived. It always was. Sooner or later, Tobias would break her. She would fall for him and he would get bored. It was like clockwork, something that happened every single time. He was only a flirt, and nothing more.
Originally, Sebastian had thought more of Liesel than to believe that she would fall for his brother's monotonous flirtation. But he saw the way she reacted to his actions, so obviously, he was wrong. Obviously, she was just as stupid as every other girl who had allowed herself to succumb to the captain's coquettish ways.
But maybe Sebastian was the one who was stupid. Only then did he realize that he, himself, had come to care for Liesel. How idiotic was he! After all, she was his hostage. She was not supposed to be anything more than his prisoner. But he had allowed himself to become overly invested in her. And now that she was showing even the slightest interest in his brother, he found himself fighting a tinge of jealousy. The envy ached within his chest, and when he realized this, his pace increased. He needed to get back to his chambers, away from this mayhem.
About an hour later, two familiar voices sounded from just behind the door to his chamber. Well. Tobias' chamber, actually. But considering the fact that his elder brother's chamber lay adjacent to his own, it may as well have been Sebastian's. He could expect Liesel to rejoin him in his own chamber, since that was where she had been staying, but did he even want to see her? Honestly, he was unsure. His utter behemoth of a brother seemed to have her under his spell, after all. Surely he would be able to get her to stay with him without so much as a complaint. If that were the case, then he would know all he needed to know. But part of him hoped that she would choose him. He was not sure as to what his feelings for Liesel entailed, but he could sense within himself that something was there.
And that was enough for him to understand that he did not want her to have any sort of feelings for Tobias.
"Y'know, I actually like teaching you. And I never like teaching anyone anything."
Tobias' low, charming voice sounded from behind the door, and involuntarily, Sebastian exhaled a sigh. Was he already head-over-heels for his own prisoner? No. But was he ready for his own brother to sweep her off her feet? Definitely not. How would Sebastian be able to avoid feeling something for her? She was..well, beautiful. Even he could see beauty when it stared him right in the face. The way her blue eyes demonstrated her strength, the way her light, golden hair framed her face, everything about her was absolutely radiant.
She was absolutely radiant.
The sound of Tobias' door to his chamber closing reverberated through Sebastian's own quarters, and he found himself lightly bracing himself. Now was the moment of truth, in a way. Would Liesel come in through his own door? If not, it could be assumed that she had decided to remain with Tobias, and while that would hurt a bit now, it would be better for Sebastian to know how she felt about him now before he ended up developing real feelings for her.
Or..maybe he was just overreacting. And that was certainly a possibility. it could be that he was reading way too far into things. Maybe he should just let things play out as they would. Things would happen the way they were supposed to happen.

liesel wailes //
Learning how to use a sword had been slightly more complicated than she had expected, considering that she lacked real upper-body strength. By the end of the lesson her arm was tingling, the muscle sore and tired from the weight she would have to get use to carrying. Secretly, Liesel had expected swordsmanship effortless and simple. She'd seen people using them all her life, and it always looked like the weapon did all the work; alas, she had been sorely mistaken. Despite this, it was only a minor setback, with more tutoring from Tobias she was positive that her skills would increase.
It was dark by the time they were both heading back towards their chambers, and Liesel was noticeably exhausted. Not only from the few hours she spent with her sword, but the wound on her shoulder had started to ache; blood starting to show through the fabric bandage tied around it. Tobias was charming indeed, and rather handsome, with bold flirtatious moves that he did not try to disguise; but, Liesel was no fool, she'd had met men like him before. Men who liked a good chase, but once the challenge was over - well, their interests were already focused on someone else.
About a year prior, Liesel had been courted by a man with very similar characteristics. He was pleasant and attractive, and unashamed about being quite forward. He'd constantly shower her with compliments and gifts, but something always seemed fairly off. It was almost that he was too nice, and overly flirtatious to and extent that Liesel no longer felt flattered. She became tired of the games, whilst that's all he had wanted. It was possible that Tobias was the same way, but she decided that it was really to early for her to tell. Who knows, maybe she was reading too deeply into everything, perhaps she needed to stop building such walls around herself.
So, when Tobias said that he liked teaching her, she let herself smile in response. "Hm, I must be special then." She started towards Sebastian's chambers, only pausing to wish his older brother a breezy "goodnight". And in that moment as she was walking, Liesel couldn't help but wonder if Tobias had expected her to come with him. If he had, she couldn't help but find that somewhat amusing. Did he think that was all it took? A few flirtatious words and sly smiles? Why, he'd have to do better than that.
When Liesel finally entered Sebastian's cabin, she let out a loud sigh, removing her over-the-shoulder belt and dropping it carelessly with the sword still in it's sheath. Honestly, the only thing she cared about at the moment was getting some much needed rest.
While in the process of tugging off one of her leather boots, she paused to give Sebastian a sidelong glance. "Where have you been?" She had noticed his absence, and it was almost as if he was deliberately avoiding her, especially when she had seen the strange expression on his face earlier when she was with Tobias.

Sebastian Serafin
When he heard the door to his chamber open, Sebastian merely glanced upward, momentarily allowing his attention to leave the novel that sat open in his hands. He barely offered Liesel a smile in greeting, as the corners of his lips hardly curled into the beginnings of a warm expression. And just like that, his green eyes lowered as he continued to read. Only when he heard Liesel address him did he close the book and sit up in the maple chair that stood simply in front of his desk. As he let one ankle rest on his opposite knee, the man crossed his arms loosely over his chest. An eyebrow quirked questioningly as Sebastian feebly attempted to gather his thoughts.
"You seemed occupied enough with my brother's company," Sebastian replied blankly.
It was as if the man no longer possessed human emotion, for his expression lacked the normally-pensive quality that seemed to be a staple characteristic of Sebastian. Everything about him exuded lackluster nonchalance. Tobias had the ability to affect him that way, as whenever Sebastian showed even the slightest interest in a woman, he swept right in and usually stole her right from under Sebastian's nose. It was only when the woman ceased to be of any interest to his elder brother that the woman came crawling back to him. As if it took being used by Tobias to realize that Sebastian was the better man. Well Sebastian was not inclined to let that happen again, as it usually hurt him immensely. He hated feeling second-best, but really, what more was he? They were all the same. They all chose Tobias. It was always Tobias.
The man's jaw tightened slighty as he noticed the blood seeping through Liesel's wound, and as he heaved a sigh, he stood and approached her slowly. Someone had to change the dressings, and he knew that he would be the better candidate to get the job done. For a moment, a mere moment, utter sorrow filled his emerald irises, but quickly, he managed to shove the emotion away.
Reaching for another cloth, his eyes darted up to meet hers. It was as if he wordlessly asked for permission to touch her once again. Then gently, he undid the bandage and took a wet cloth, delicately cleaning the wound once more. Then ever-so-softly, he refastened the bandage securely.

liesel wailes //
Liesel tilted her head somewhat to the side as she registered the tone of his voice and the emotionless expression on his face. Was he jealous? His behavior suggested that he was, but she found this hard to believe. Could it be that he didn't like the fact that she was spending time with his older brother? Or maybe he felt offended because she didn't come to him when in need of fighting techniques. Whatever the reason, she could sense that Sebastian was holding some kind of grudge against her. Which was strange, since it should have been the other way around.
Liesel was mistaken to think that the situation couldn't get anymore strange, but evidently it did. For some reason, unknown to her, Sebastian seemed to have decided it was his duty to help dress her wound. She didn't protest, but it was just bewildering, considering that he seemed annoyed at her in some way.
It was hard not to notice the look in his eyes, almost sorrowful, as if she had somehow hurt him. It was only a quick flicker of emotion, it was gone almost immediately after she spotted it, leaving her confused as to what was so wrong.
"Tobias was only teaching me a few things, is that not allowed?" Liesel crossed her arms and questioned Sebastian. She didn't like when people were upset with her, and she especially didn't like the cold silence that the man was exhibiting. "I don't know what the issue is."

( this is super short bc I'm on my phone still hehe but i have a plot ideaaaa ) Sebastian Serafin Upon hearing the tone of her voice, Sebastian found himself, well, rather bewildered. She seemed a bit hostile, and honestly, he didn't really think that she had a reason to feel that way. He had the right to feel betrayed. He had the right to be jealous. But why was she complaining? Everything was right in the world for Liesel Wailes. And Sebastian was left where he always was: in the dust. So really, why should he care if his absence hurt her feelings? When she decided to flirt with his elder brother, she crossed a line. Well. In his mind, anyway. So now, Tobias and Liesel were on the road to becoming a happy couple. And where was Sebastian? Alone. As always.
"Well, maybe next time you decide to flirt with Tobias, you'll consider doing it out of earshot," he hissed, returning to his desk chair where he again picked up his novel.
Yes, he realized that he had basically just laid his cards out on the table. Unintentionally, he'd basically admitted that he was jealous. But really, did he care? Ah, no. He most certainly did not. His eyes flicked upward and he met her gaze once more, and it was almost as if an apologetic flicker appeared momentarily in his emerald irises. But as quickly as it came, it vanished.
