I did the update and the only thing that feels weird for me is to have the windows tab thing pop up in the middle of my screen rather than on the left side. if you change your taskbar settings to align it to the left, the windows tab also pops up on the left! that was my biggest gripe with it as well (it is so in the way in the middle) and i was pleasantly surprised when i found out i could change it.
i updated by accidentally clicking the wrong "turn off" option and i'm neutral about it. i'm not invested enough to have any major complaints now that i don't have that ginormous windows tab smack dab in the middle of my screen every time i want to search for a file, but there's nothing that feels like a major upgrade either

i haven't taken higher level chemistry and consider myself more of a maths nerd, but i did do (the equivelent of) ap chem and did my senior project on chemistry in high school and consistently did very well! that being said, chem does not come naturally to me at all and i really had to struggle for my good grades like i haven't had to in other stem subjects. so while i may not be the best person to answer you, hopefully i have at least some wisdom to offer you that isn't exactly what you're already doing
flashcards are great, and i used them, but only as a complement to other methods of studying, and more as a way to see what i know than as a way to learn what i don't already. they might work for you, but if they're not helping, try using them as a diagnostic tool rather than an educational one. personally, i make mine in excel and label each question 0-3 (0 being i haven't even got an idea of where to begin and 3 being i will know this answer in 6 months time). then i go through the ones related to the topic i want to study before i start a study session, renumbering them if necesssary, and by the time i put them aside to do something else i know what i need to focus on. i continue to do this in basically every subject and i love my spreadsheets to death lol
a super important thing for me in chemistry was doing labs. sometimes you go into a lab completely lost and walk out with at least some idea of what's going on, and if not, you'll be asking very specific questions that can guide you as you try to learn. as before, identifying what you don't understand is vital. if you don't get to do them in the course or miss one, google for videos of someone doing them. i can almost guarantee you'll find something on youtube. probably your textbook will give examples of reactions, google those and see if you can see them happen.
practice problems also did more for me than trying to memorise concepts and formulas straight up. when i was really struggling with a concept, i'd split my page in two. on the left i'd write what the next step was, then i'd do it on the right. go back to write down the next step and why i was making it, then do the step. if i found i got stuck, i'd look online or in my textbook for a similar problem and follow their example step by step with the same method. then as i understood more and more, i could stop writing down everything and only write down what was necessary for me to understand later. a massive bonus with this type of breakdown is that i always got full communication points on exams because i'd been explaining everything to myself like i was five years old the whole time i was studying haha. this works better with some topics than others, i remember really struggling with organic chemistry because it didn't let me do problems in the same way. i'd say probably 75% of my active study time i spent doing problems (when that was possible).
the visualisation was a massive thing for me, maybe the trickiest part tbh. i just couldn't conceptualise all these tiny particles and how they interacted with each other. you could tell me that primary alcohols oxidise to carboxylic acids because two hydrogen atoms react with oxygen and makes water but that means nothing! you could draw it, and that would help, but it was hit or miss whether or not it actually stuck. so i'd make models of the molecules and play around with them. i'd physically move the hydrogen atom over and adjust what was left into the acid, and suddenly it made 10x more sense. it was not unheard of for me to use orange and apple slices (they were always eaten) and toothpicks or pens and cups or any of a hundred other things just because it was what i had nearby. you could buy a building set, they're not super expensive usually, or do what i eventually did and buy/make some cheap clay, blue-tack and wooden sticks and make your own. it doesn't need to be fancy, it's just to help you move things around. i didn't want to spend more than i had to because i knew that i wouldn't be using them in a year's time. if you just can't see what's apparently happening, definitely try. you can use your little building blocks when doing problems, too!
also, once you've thoroughly read the textbook pages once or twice and taken any notes you want to take, going back to it to understand should be your absolute last resort. in my experience, anything else is more effective than rereading your textbook for a fourth or fifth time. talking to your instructor, a classmate, your own notes, or searching for alternative sources online are more likely to present the information in a new way and hopefully give you something to grab onto. if you didn't understand it last time, you won't understand it now without some prep work
i'm sorry if this was just a wall of text with nothing helpful, but i hope there was at least something in this massive post that you find useful <3 best of luck with your chemistry, it can be a real pain

barbecued corn is divine. i brush mine with a sort of glaze made out of lemon, parsley, garlic and a tiny bit of honey, and either some vegetable oil or i eat it with butter. delicious! if you like mustard and it goes with your protein, that can be a good addition too. if it's not barbecue season, you can always grill it in the oven, in a pan, or boil it and then brush on the glaze after it's done
charred cabbage is another favourite. i eat it as is a lot instead of pasta (i can't eat gluten, and sometimes the texture is more important than flavour in which case charred cabbage makes a better substitute than a lot of non-wheat pastas. definitely not a good flavour substitute though) but you can add a dressing, too. i like mine on the sour side, so often use orange juice as a base instead of oil. adds some sweetness, too. or you can use it to make a mean coleslaw - much prefer coleslaw made with charred cabbage to any other
idk if it counts as a vegetable or not, but toasted and spiced chickpeas are so good in a salad! yum!

he's so cute <33 give him a little kiss (if he likes them) from me.
for some reason i feel like pepsi would suit him! has lots of possible diminutives, too - pip, peppy, pie, etc
some other ideas: * lo (as in lo and behold) * finneas (or phinneas, whichever spelling you prefer) * toes (strange, but i love naming animals for notable features and he's sticking out a little toe on his back paw in the photo)

I wish people knew the difference between getting a headache and a migraine. Sure, getting a headache sucks too and some headaches can be worse than others. But you can generally work through a headache and it'll go away within the hour. When someone suffers a migraine, the only thing you will be doing for the rest of the day is tending to that migraine. Sometimes up to a week. And that doesn't count that it takes so much out of you you'll still have to have post-migraine care and adjust to do things differently so it doesn't trigger a second one back-to-back when you're not quite over that wave. Further than that, I get migraines so bad that if I leave it unchecked it'll give me stroke-like symptoms and I will be at risk of falling or brain damage and need to go to the hospital. So no, I can't just "ignore it" and "power through the pain." Leave me alone. it's like people hear a migraine is 'like a really bad headache' once, immediately remember the worst headache of their life and go 'yeah, that must be what a migraine is like' and run with it. which, yeah. a bad enough headache can hurt as much or more than a mild migraine - i know i've had a couple of headaches that have hurt my head more than migraines i've had. but it's not just about the pain, which is excruciating all on its own anyway. the other symptoms can be just as terrifying, and the preventative and recouperative care is a constant

it's not specific to my conditions, but i wish people knew that being ill is a lot of work. that goes for mental illness and physical illness. i think people who are healthy don't realise how much energy i and others have to devote to managing pain, preparing for low energy days, staying in touch with healthcare professionals, tracking food/symptoms/sleep/etc. and whatever else changes in routine people have to make for their specific illness/treatment. it costs a lot of time and energy to be sick even before you consider that a symptom of many illnesses is fatigue.

10/10 would recommend! from what i know, they're very swedish sodas. i haven't seen them anywhere else at least. we also have 'fruit soda' - don't ask which fruits, nobody knows - but that one isn't as good imo. they're kind of a childhood drink for me, so lots of nostalgia, but i almost never drink them anymore :( though this thread has really made me crave some haha
on the other hand, i've literally never heard of strawberry soda? that sounds like it could be so good, too!

i don't think so, but i guess i don't know. i do struggle to eat a lot of the foods mentioned like alcohol, leafy greens, chocolate and coffee specifically because they're unpleasantly bitter, but love broccoli (though i don't remember ever eating it raw) and citrus fruits. i think i'm just very sensitive to taste because i'm sensitive in general though.

i spent most my school years in public school, though i spent 5 years at a charter and 1 year homeschooled. being homeschooled was by far the worst. i know it works for a lot of people, but i was so stressed and so anxious and i burned out almost immediately. granted, my physical health was bad at the time as well, but i wouldn't have been able to handle it if my body was kind to me either.
between the charter and public schools i went to i preferred all 4 of the public schools to the charter. at the charter they were generally very unhelpful and unkind and i also dealt with a lot of shaming for and dismissal of my health there. even though they had so many notes from my doctors and even spoke to said medical professionals in person numerous times they just didn't seem to believe that i was as sick as i said i was. i got straight as, so surely i didn't need any help at all about anything, and i must be lying about my health. there were some lovely teachers too of course (shout out to the art teacher who always had my back even though she had me just an hour a week for a term! love ya~!), but that was thanks to them entirely and not because the school was fostering an environment that promoted that. i don't know how much of that had to do with it being a charter school and how much was just awful people running it, but hey ho i guess. looking back, i wish my parents had pulled me out of that school and done public school instead, but they were so busy with my and my brother's declining health i don't think they even thought of it.
my experience with public school wasn't all good either, but overall it was okay! most teachers were decent, some great, some were straight up awful educators but they were the exception. i made the most friends in public school, and i loved being in the bigger two (2500 & 1100 students respectively, both had classes of a little under 30) because there was always movement and someone new to meet.

liked it a lot as a kid (though i think that was mostly because it was the only fast food place we ever went to) but then we moved to the uk and the mcdonalds was so much worse we stopped eating it. by the time we moved back we had better options. it's probably been 8 years since i last ate mcdonalds food? maybe 9? don't miss it at all. i do think if they brought back those little ciabattas they had when i was growing up i would get one, just because i was literally obsessed with those growing up. i realise it'd probably be disappointing, but the nostalgia is real

oh fae sounds super fun! i also have characters and no plot, but i'm sure we could figure something out! i think i'm more in the mood for some fantasy slice of life than questing, but i'm good with both. we could always start with something more cute and laid back and transition into something more adventure-y if we feel like it?
relatable tbh. i was sick for 4 weeks as well, but it was my energy that really went down the drain. i couldn't function for a good three months. but i survived, and i think without any lasting issues, so it's all good in the end! i'm glad it sounds like you're doing better as well, and that life is moving for you, adult life is repetitive but at least it's a routine :>

hello! i'm sunny, i also go by ree. i'm getting back into a routine now that summer's ending, and i'd love to start a few more 1x1s! all i ask is that you're over 18 (i'm in my early twenties and would feel most comfortable with an adult) and comfortable with me using lgbtq+ characters (i don't require that you do). the rest is just preference really.
as far as activity goes, i'm good with anything as long as i know what to expect. i usually write posts somewhere between 3 and 7 paragraphs (200-500 words i believe is my average), but can do 1-2 paragraphs or slightly longer posts as well. i generally get overwhelmed when posts are consistently 800-1000+ words and prefer to throw those longer posts in only when the situation calls for it, so if you like that sort of pace i might not be the partner for you. overall i think i'm pretty flexible though, just let me know what you'd prefer! i can rp in pms or in a thread, but usually lose track of discord channels and the like (but am open to trying again, if you're willing to put up with me lmao).
fantasy is my favourite genre, whether that be urban, high, modern, historical, paranormal, etc. i also like romance, as a subplot or the main event, but am just as happy writing platonic, familial or antagonistic relationships. i struggle with sci-fi and writing non-humanoid characters, but otherwise am open to most genres and plots! fandom plots are okay, too, let me know if there's a universe you'd be interested in writing in and we can talk about it!

yes, definitely! here in sweden it's the second biggest holiday of the year after christmas, and it's celebrated in finland as well. denmark and norway celebrate it as st john's day (or some variant of the name anyway). i think it's pretty similar to what people abroad think of when they think of midsummer? we swedes eat traditional food, dance and sing around a maypole, get drunk on schnapps and have a generally good time. these days they're not as common, but there are a few surviving pagan rituals as well, most prominently one where you pick flowers in a particular way and put them under your pillow, after which you're supposed to dream of the person you're going to marry. people don't really believe it works anymore, but it makes for great instagram posts lol idrk what celebrations look like in other countries though. that is so cool!! i would love to go to a midsummer celebration some day, it sounds like a lot of fun! i hope you get to! its definitely a great time

of the more widespread western holidays, i like christmas a lot! there's so many lights and i love giving gifts a lot. it's also drawn out a little more, so it's not so overwhelming for me. i can celebrate st lucia's day and advent and christmas eve and it's all a part of Christmas in my mind
midsummer is another one i really enjoy. good food, lots of flowers, midnight sun, dancing, etc. it's also close to my birthday so i see a lot of friends and family around that time so, again, the celebrations are a bit more spaced out (great for managing energy)
i don't think i really have a least favourite? there are a few holidays that i don't celebrate (either personally or bc no one around me does) like halloween or valentines, so i guess those? idk there's not really a holiday i actively dislike, at least not that comes to mind wait midsummer is like an actual holiday in some places?? i thought it was one of those holidays that like, was made up in books or hasnt been celebrated since 1300 AD yes, definitely! here in sweden it's the second biggest holiday of the year after christmas, and it's celebrated in finland as well. denmark and norway celebrate it as st john's day (or some variant of the name anyway). i think it's pretty similar to what people abroad think of when they think of midsummer? we swedes eat traditional food, dance and sing around a maypole, get drunk on schnapps and have a generally good time. these days they're not as common, but there are a few surviving pagan rituals as well, most prominently one where you pick flowers in a particular way and put them under your pillow, after which you're supposed to dream of the person you're going to marry. people don't really believe it works anymore, but it makes for great instagram posts lol idrk what celebrations look like in other countries though.

I've flown with ryanair, norweigan, sas and easyjet. ryanair was the worst of the bunch, but bearable for the 2 hour flight I took. I'd do it again if there was no flight within a pricerange reasonable for me for a shorter flight like that, but not for a flight more than 3 hours. norweigan was pretty good for a budget airline, easyjet somewhere in the middle. I've only flown sas once, and it was as a young child, so I don't really have much of an opinion. glad the union finally got a deal they find acceptable though!

no. when my peers started drinking i gave it a go, and i've tried a few times since then, but i've never managed to drink very much. i just hate the taste of alcohol so much that it doesn't feel worth it even if i fully see why you might want to get drunk or even just tipsy. nowadays i'm on medication that doesn't mix with alcohol as well, so i couldn't drink even if i wanted to. that's okay, i don't feel like i'm missing out or anything
