[ Five years oh geez. HA I'll be waiting! And thanks! ]
Blizzardpaw grunted, and watched Stormpaw. Everyone was doing better than him. Oh well. Nest making wasn't exactly a skill that was crucial. Still grumbling to himself, he copied Stormpaw and Jaypaw's technique. Now the nest was more comfortable. He patted the moss down a little, and stepped back to examine his work. It was...ok. A little lopsided, but ok.
---
Jaypaw glanced over at Dapplepaw, and let out a small sigh. If they didn't snap her out of this mood, she would stay like this for a long time. Jaypaw poked Finchpaw in the back with the tip of his tail, and gestured over to their sister. His amber eyes held a question. 'Should we do something?'
---
Nightstep snorted. "Alright, I guess that's true." She peered off into the distance, expression clouding with nostalgia. "The good old days..." After a few heartbeats, the dark grey she-cat shook her fur out, face morphing back into it's old cheery look. "Well, that's over! We've got a big day tomorrow! The show the apprentices around!"

Mintfeather nodded. "When you get back, be ready to go on a hunting patrol!" She purred.
~~~
The young gray speckled tom sighed. He returned a look. We can try tomorrow... To be honest, Finchpaw'd just rather ignore her. It made things simpler.
~~~
Stormpaw glanced over at the calico. Why is she so mean to us.. Her blue eyes were slightly puzzled.

Nightstep let out an exasperated sigh. "Aww, man! By the time I'm done with the apprentices, I'll be so tired I wouldn't be able to stand it! And now you're saying I'll have to go hunting? Forget it. I'll probably scare all the prey away." Her blue eyes sparkled with laughter. "We'll see I guess. Speaking of hunting patrols, I was thinking of asking Copperstar if I could join one soon. I would ask you, but.." She let out a small huff of amusement. "You must be exhausted from your earlier patrol. Catch you later!"
---
Jaypaw and Finchpaw have telepathy. I'm calling it. Jaypaw shrugged, and curled up on his decent nest. He peered out of the den entrance, and silence settled on the crowded apprentice's den. The rush of excitement was over, now what would they do in their free time? An idea popped into Jaypaw's head. He had seen the warriors line their nests with plumy feathers or fancy plants they had found out in the woods. Perhaps they wouldn't be allowed into the woods until tomorrow, but surely he could find something to customize his own nest in the camp! Plus, it would kill time. The dark brown tabby tom silently rose to his paws, and slithered out of the den.
---
Blizzardpaw hardly lifted his head when Jaypaw left the den. He turned to Mis-Stormpaw, and let out a puff of air. "Being an apprentice is exciting and all, but I don't really feel different." he remarked.

Stormpaw shrugged. "Neither do I." Her tail patted her moss bed. "But perhaps tomorrow that will be different." She says with a slight smile.
~~~
[lol thats probably true.] Finchpaw stood up, not being able to stand the crampiness of the den anymore. Trotting outside of the den, he stretched, and lied down there, watching his brother run about, collecting small plants and sticks. An amused purr rumbled in his throat.
~~~
Mintfeather put her paw up to her chest defensively. "I'll be fine!" The golden she-cat trotted after her friend.

Blizzardpaw chuckled. "Right. You were so eager to go out and explore the territory!" Suddenly, a thought hit him. He would have to go into the woods again. He shivered at the thought. "Ugh...I wish I were as excited about it as you are. But alas." He put on a pleasant face to the mask the anxiety growing in his stomach like a pit. The woods...
---
Jaypaw spotted Finchpaw in front of the den, and rushed over to him, a large bundle of odd-looking plants in his mouth. He dropped them in front of his brother, and split the pile in half. He pushed one of the halves towards Finchpaw. "These are for you." he announced. "They are sacred herbs that will protect you from the demons at night. Who knows, they might be drawn to my presence."
---
Nightstep shrugged, and started skipping over to Copperstar's den, laughing all the way. "Are you suuuree? You must be absolutely exhausted. Go on, take a nap!" she nudged the she-cat towards the warrior's den playfully.

Stormpaw nudged his shoulder. "Hey, don't do that." A frown grew on her face. "We have things to do now! We don't have to sit at our twolegs doorstep, waiting till they come home! We can explore farther than we ever have, Westley!" She said his name quietly, not wanting to upset anyone by using his former name.
"You should be excited. I know, I know, you're not really that type of cat, but you should be able to see, that we can have a life outside of the walls now!"
Her blue eyes flashed brightly, and for a second, if you really paid attention, you could see lightning striking during a blizzard, as a wolf was struck down by invisible claws. Above, two dappled birds, a jay and a finch, cawed, rising up to the moon.
~~~
Finchpaw rolled his eyes. "Yeah yeah, whatever, fur-brain." Purred the gray dappled tom. He stood up and trotted near the end of camp. He pushed through the thick bramble, spotting two feathers. A dark blue dappled Blue Jay feather, and a pale yellow, brown dappled finch feather. He'd stolen them as a kit, plucking the feathers from a finch and a jay and hiding them in the bramble bush. He smiled. They were still there!
He carefully plucked them up with his teeth, and trotted back to his brother, dropping the jay feather on Jaypaws stack of plants.
~~~
Mintfeather laughed, her golden flanks rising up and down as she did. She gave her friend a slight nudge forward, and started off toward the warriors den, surprised to see her nest full of fresh moss. She slowly approached it, and gave it a sniff.
Timberflight.
She gave a purr. He was always so kind.

[ Waaww that picture's really good! You should feel fully accomplished. ]
Blizzardpaw sat silently during Stormpaw's little pep talk, staring at the ground. His brain processed this information, and looked up at his best friend with hopeful eyes. "You really think so? I guess you're right...We really can't depend on our twolegs anymore. We're-we're grown responsible cats now." He held back a snicker. They were far from being grown, but they just had to believe that they really did have a role in this clan and that they were going to grow a little more mature.
A small pang of longing struck his heart when his friend had mentioned his former name. As much as he wanted to turn tail and run back to his housefolk, he couldn't turn back now.
Blizzardpaw paused for a moment, and gave Stormpaw a quick nuzzle on the shoulder. "Thanks," he purred. "Who knows what I would do without you and your optimism?" His gaze began wandering out of the apprentice's den, and he noticed a small flash of color out of the corner of his eye. Just a small one. One you would miss if you blinked. But it was there nonetheless. He peered curiously at the source...Stormpaw. The cream tom's jaws opened, as if he were about to say something, then dismissed it. He was just seeing things.
---
Meanwhile, Jaypaw had continued scampering around the camp, searching for any odd specimen they could add to their nest collection. Unfortunately, it seemed that he had already taken the good ones. He gave up, and trudged back to where Finchpaw was standing. "I could not locate any more-ooooh!" The feather sitting atop his plant pile immediately captured his attention. He also noticed Finchpaw was holding a feather too. "Where have these treasures come from? Have the birds of the spirits taken it upon themselves to grant us with a visit?!" The brown tabby tom wildly searched the skies.

*Le shrug* My paper drawings are always better.))
Finchpaw chuckled, and shook his head. The gray cat set down his feather. "Remember how I always seemed to sneak out of the den at night?"
He had done that the night before, falling asleep under the moonlight with worried eyes.
He quickly explained plucking them from a leftover finch and blue jay. The dappled young tom lets out a purr of pride at his brothers' praise.
~~~
Stormpaw let out a rumble of amusement. "You'd probably be gazing into the neighbors' yard at the twoleg place!" She meowed happily. The young she-cat hated to be depressed, and give depressing speeches, but sometimes she knew it necessary.
She cocked her head to the side, as a confused look washed over Blizzardpaws face. She shrugged. He was always worried about something, and the ginger she-cat knew that she couldn't do anything about it.
Jaypaw purred, bending down to inspect the feather further. "Good work! These will fit nicely in our new nests!" Playfully, he added, "I always wondered where you would always venture off to in the night. I suspected you were meeting up with those dastardly shadow cats!"
With slight difficulty, the apprentice scooped up his small pile of plants (plus the feather), and started lumbering towards the apprentice's den. "Comfe on. Letsh puf these in our nesfts." he mumbled around the decorations. The tip of his tail was twitching excitedly. They could already customize their nests!
---
Blizzardpaw rolled his eyes. "Sure, sure. And you'd probably still be chasing butterflies." As if on cue, a bright yellow butterfly floated into the den. It didn't seem to sense the danger that lurked inside. Blizzardpaw lazily swung his paw in an arc, easily missing the butterfly. It fluttered away, and landed on Stormpaw's nose.
Stormpaw stared at it with wide eyes. With one swift movement, she snapped her jaws on the small creature, being careful not to actually injure it.
She saw Dapplepaw snort. The ginger cat wormed her way to the entrance, and opened her mouth, lined with sharp teeth. She watched as it fluttered away, purring.
~~~
Finchpaw followed, catching a glimpse of the butterfly drifting away. He thought nothing of it. He placed the special grass and flowers around his nest, laying the finch feather right outside of it. He crawled into his tightly wove reed bed, and looked for a spot to place the yellow decoration.
He smiled.
Grabbing it with his teeth again, he wove the end of it into the nest. Later he planned on adding more feathers, until they completely lined his bed.

Blizzardpaw sidled his way beside Stormpaw, and nudged her shoulder. "Some fearsome butterfly hunter you turn out to be!" he chuckled, a little surprised that she managed not to hurt the insect.
The cream apprentice glanced around the room, and let out a small sigh. "It's a little stuffy in here. And boring. Very boring just waiting for tomorrow so that we could explore the territory." His voice grew into a small whine.
---
Jaypaw cheerfully followed Finchpaw into the den, and plopped his plants down. He meticulously sorted them out, and eventually wove them into his nest. He tucked the stems into the base of the nest, letting the feathery parts of the flowers and plants gently droop to the floor.
Stepping back a little, he studied the nest. It looked comfortable enough. A thought struck him. He hadn't put in the feather yet! Jaypaw carefully picked up the vibrant blue plume between his teeth, and stuck it in the front. Right where everyone could see it.
"Hey Finchpaw!" he grinned. "When we can go out into the forest on our own, we should look for more feathers!"

His brother nodded in agreement. "Most definitely." Said Finchpaw with a thoughtful nod.
The gray cat huffed. "There's nothing to do here anymore."
He carefully plodded out of his nest.
~~~
Stormpaw gave nod. "Maybe we could...." Her voice trailed off.
The ginger she-cat sighed, curling her tail around her paws.
"Maybe we could do something..." She murmured.
Jaypaw swept his tail along the ground, stirring up a few stray leaves. "You're right." he grumbled. The day was fairly overcast, dark heavy grey clouds hanging tight in the sky. It was difficult to tell what time of day it was. A breeze worked its way into the den, causing Jaypaw to shiver. He burrowed deeper into his nest.
"Maybe we should just worry about not freezing our whiskers off." he mumbled, face covered.
---
Blizzardpaw snorted. "Brilliant idea."
He glanced up at the dark sky, and tilted his head slightly. "Hm, you know what I've noticed?" he mewed, thinking out loud. "It's been quite cloudy for a long time now. I would have thought the clouds would just move on but it's like it's cloudy everyday now!"
(Oh god. It's been too long.)
Stormpaw scoffed.
"I like the rain!" She fell to the floor, and rolled around in the dirt, pretending that it was a storm falling on her shoulder blades.
"My name really suits me." She purred happily.
~~~
Dapplepaw rose from her nest, seeing the ginger she-cat lying on the floor. She narrowed her bright yellow eyes, a disgusted look crossing her face. "They should've named you Dirtpaw." She hissed, tossing her nose to the sky.
"You're fur is a mess." Cackling, the small calico dashed off into the woods. If I have nothing to do on the first day of being an apprentice, then I'm going to find something to do.
I'm not going to sit around all day and do nothing!
~~~
Finchpaw sprang to his feet. "Dapplepaw! Where are you going!"
His eyes flashed with alarm. She's going to get herself killed!
[ Right?? How've you been? ]
Blizzardpaw's throat rumbled with an amused purr. "If there was a real storm and you did that, you'd better not think of coming back into the den!" he joked, feeling lighthearted seeing his friend's orange pelt get mussed up with dirt.
His head snapped around to look at Dapplepaw, narrowing his eyes. "Hey, she was just jok-" he started defensively, but didn't get a chance. Dapplepaw was already flying out of the den. Blizzardpaw was left with his mouth hanging open slightly, and pawed at the ground anxiously. "Don't listen to her." he grumbled to Stormpaw, agitation blooming in his chest. 'Why does that she-cat hate us so much?'
---
Jaypaw tumbled out of his nest in alarm. "What is it? Who dares?!" he shrieked, flailing around. The dark brown tom stumbled to his feet, and caught a glimpse of a small dappled pelt vanishing behind the camp entrance, somehow unnoticed by the other cats. "Oh no she didn't." he muttered slowly. Why would Dapplepaw leave the camp? It was dangerous!
"There is no time to alert the warriors. We need to get her back now!" Jaypaw nudged Finchpaw's side, gesturing towards the forest. "The forest is not safe at this time, not even for the warriors! If they have to hunt in pairs, then our stupid sister will end up getting herself killed!"
(I've been good, thanks for asking! Just busy with homework and reading How bout' you?) Finchpaw hurried after her, his paws stumbling beneath his body. "Minnowpaw! Flintpaw! Hurry!!!" The gray tom knew he needed someone who knew the forest well, and they were the closest, still sitting near the apprentices den. ~~~ Flintpaw jumped to his feet, his blue eyes blazing with alarm. Seeing it was only Finchpaw, he calmed down. "What is it, fur-brain? You nearly scared my pelt off!" He purred. He saw that Finchpaw was shivering, worry bright in his yellow eyes. ~~~ Finchpaw screeched. "Dapplepaw ran off into the forest!" ~~~ Stormpaw stared in dismay. What was happening? She sat, not knowing what to do.
[ Eugh, homework. I'm fine too. Same old, same old. ]
Minnowpaw, who was sitting beside her brother, let out a small screech of alarm. "The forest? She's not allowed to go yet! Oh my, someone's a little impatient!"
Her gaze wandered to entrance of the camp. "Flintpaw and I can help you track her down, since we have more experience. But...shouldn't we tell the warriors about this first? They would be better suited for this job."
---
Jaypaw scurried after Finchpaw, ear tips twitching irritably. "There's no time. The few precious moments we spend talking to the warriors could get Dapplepaw hurt or in trouble."
---
Blizzardpaw peered out of the den. He slowly trotted up to the distraught group of apprentices. "W-what's going on?" he stammered nervously. All he knew was that dappled she-cat had dashed out of the camp, and everything had burst into chaos.
Minnowpaw hurried after the group, paws frantically pounding the ground. By then, a light drizzle had begun to fall to the earth. 'Oh mouse-dung. Now we have to deal with rain too.' the she-cat grumbled to herself. The apprentices burst out of camp, into the large forest beyond.
Minnowpaw began using her x-ray vision sniffing around, trying to catch a faint sign of Dapplepaw's scent.
---
Jaypaw's eyes immediately widened with they entered the forest. It was huge, trees bunching together to provide shelter from the rain. Though it was quiet. Eerily quiet. There was none of the shuffling of prey or bird cries Ashrunner had described in his stories. Everything was silent. Jaypaw stuck close to the group, glancing around. "Great, this is just getting better..."
---
Blizzardpaw let out an irritated huff. The four apprentices had left without a word to Stormpaw and him, leaving them in the dust. "Well fine." he sighed. "Didn't want to know what was going on anyways."
She nodded glumly, opening her mouth to catch some of the rain. Plodding back to the apprentices den, she laid down in her nest.
~~~
Finchpaw looked around. The faint wolf scent from the night before was washing away with the rain. Soon Dapplepaw's would too.
He let out a screech. "Dapplepaw! Where are you!?!"
~~~
Flintpaw's tail went up as he caught a faint scent of his sister. "This way!" The gray dappled apprentice called. "Toward the Lock-Fish Stream!"
[ I keep forgetting that Flintpaw and Minnowpaw are the Three's siblings lol ]
Jaypaw glanced around the forest, fur prickling. He followed Flintpaw, crushing the frozen undergrowth beneath his paws. Soon, they were nearing a long curving stream. He searched the area quickly. "Dapplepaw!" he called out, getting worried now.
---
Minnowpaw poked her nose around. Dapplepaw's scent was getting fainter by the minute. The silver she-cat stopped by the stream, peering over the familiar stepping stones. The runaway apprentice's scent led over them. "No way..you don't think..." she muttered, pawing at the muddy ground. The gentle gurgle of the stream started growing louder as the rain increased to a patter.
(Snip clip from the StormClan page, just so you remember!: ThornClan, the most vicious and ruthless of the four, was lead by Thistlestar, a great big white tom, with black ears, a black-tipped tail and silver eyes. Minnowpaw stepped in, conflicted. "If we don't tell Copperstar, we'll be in even more trouble! And another thing-" She was abruptly cut off by a high-pitched screech in the distance. A pause. And another yowl.
Jaypaw's head snapped up. "What was that?" he demanded. "What was that?!" Fear flared in his eyes. The noises were coming from Thornclan's territory.
