(Thank you!) 'I am very glad to see you all in good health'
Oliver's voice rang out through the crowd, clear as day, and any chatter that Lux could hear was quickly silenced by his voice. Of course it would be- Oliver was one of their beloved patron gods, and real or not, that held a certain amount of significance that even Lux could respect. They chose to stay near one of the trees, leaning against it and enjoying the cool shade as they listened to Oliver speak. It was a little hard to actually see the two 'gods'- and eventually Lux decided to haul themselves up onto it so they could get a better look at the fight. Really, they wanted to see what all the excitement was about, so they dug their fingers into old, rough, bark and kept their feet in the crook of the tree. It gave them at least a foot of height, which was just enough to see over the heads of many excited people. They noticed this was a common occurance- if they looked around, they could see heads popping out of trees, deciding to sit on old and sturdy branches so they could watch the performance instead of swimming in the crowd.
It was a good thing they did, too, because Olivers introduction brought plenty of excited followers to the arena. That quiet hush turned once more into excited murmurs at the prospect of a fake fight- a type of entertainment that was quite popular here. They supposed that it made sense- it was a bit of excitement that really didn't hurt anyone. The battle was clearly staged and practiced, no one had to really worry about getting hurt... yet, there was still that excitement at watching an intense fight that they all could indulge in.
Unfortunately for Lux, they found it rather hard to enjoy this. Not only were they more opposed to fighting than most, but this mock battle just felt... wrong, somehow. That they were watching some actors that didn't truly get to the heart of the battle. Oliver- well. Oliver played this roll well... but Lux noticed that Violet favored her right hand. They weren't sure why that detail stuck out to them so much, but it did, and they couldn't get over it. In all the literature and art that Lux had seen of the two gods, Letos had been left handed.
If she were truly a reincarnation, would she not have had that same trait? The thought of it nearly gave Lux a headache, and they realized that they were focusing on the wrong thing. It didn't truly matter if she was the true reincarnation or not- it might fill them with some unexplainable frustration whenever they saw inconsistencies, but it wasn't going to actually hurt the people here. They could continue on beleiving that these two were truly gods and it would give them more hope than if it was all exposed as a fraud. So, they chased away that frustration, and even found themselves getting very into the fight. They couldn't help but hold their breath, watching as the two sparred with such expert ease that it really felt as if they were watching a real fight. Lux didn't realize that they were doing this, either, until the fight ended all too soon and Lux had to let out that breath they were holding.
Wow- even with that momentary stumble, that was a good fight. Even for someone who was rather adverse to fighting, they had to admit that they were disappointed that it was already over. Lux waited for a moment, letting the crowd disperse after the promise that the two of them were still good friends and not to worry about any actual fighting, hanging off of the tree and debating whether or not they should approach Oliver.
Really, they had enjoyed that conversation with him, and they did want to apologize for being too blunt with him. That was something Lux should have thought about before opening their mouth- they were well aware that their views were... fringe, at best. And telling one of the 'gods' that they didn't actually believe that this was all true? That was a faux pas at best, and a jerk move at worst... and they were leaning jerk move. So, they wanted to apologize, but they needed to find a good time to do so.
Lucky for them, a priest had found them loitering around, instructing them to go to the temple some time this week. Not immediately, they assumed, because there were plenty of people that clearly wanted to talk to the two. So they took their time at the festival, trying the different foods and even playing some games while they made their way to the temple. Eventually, late afternoon, they found themselves wandering into the temple.
They let out a soft breath of relief as they felt the coolness inside the temple. It really was a warm day out- and there was just something... nice, about being in here. They found their way to the room where both of the 'gods' were, brightening when they saw Oliver. "You called?" They asked cheerily, eyes crinkling as they smiled wide at Oliver, hoping that he still wasn't livid over what they had said only a couple days prior.
