I'll put our characters here as well, just so we have it in one spot
Also I just noticed I don't see the name for the sun god (separate from the character name), I choose Zixuna for the moon god. I can pick one if you would prefer though, just wanted to give you the opportunity.
Artean was an idea I had for the earth type god, I think it would work, even if that name will probably not pop up till later in the rp. If you had any other ideas I am willing to hear as well. Lux/20/Non-binary/Warlock (sweetclover1) History No one quite knows where Lux is actually from. They wandered into this town about five years ago and just... never left. They have a small cottage right on the outskirts of town, keeping wards up in order to keep it safe, offering to help really anyone who comes to them for help.
They had been wandering since they were thirteen and rejected from their family when their powers began to get more and more obvious. The smallest pits of power started to come around not long after their tenth birthday, but it was enough for their family to ignore until the events got bigger and bigger, more obvious. It started with tiny things- the only child who didn't burn while spending their time outside ('wow! Lux is so lucky!'), plants never dying when they cared for them ('Looks like your child has a green thumb!'), or being able to predict when it was going to rain or snow- in the sense of an inexplicable exhaustion that would overtake them whenever the sun wasn't out ('That Lux is just like a cat, aren't they?'). But then their powers became more and more obvious- a fixation with spells that would actually work, mastery over weapons that they should know nothing about considering the rural areas, perhaps a minor mastery over fire as the third power? The odder their child got, the more wary they were of Lux. It was like they were the fabled sun god- but that was impossible.
The sun god had already been chosen, after all, so what was wrong with their child? Were they simply posing for attention- or was it something more insidious? By their thirteenth birthday, though, their family could no longer stand their oddities and the village that they had lived in had casted them out. There was no need for a danger within the community and Lux clearly posed one for them if they were trying to be the sun god that had already been chosen.
Current Day Lux
Perhaps this is where their obsession with strengthening familial bonds come from and doing anything they can do to protect children within this countries family. They don't know that they are a reincarnation of a sun god, simply that this feels like an important role that they need to play. They have a large garden that they use to give fresh produce to the poor families, offer discounted services for wards and protection spells to families with young children, and try to involve themselves within the community as much as possible.
Description
They are excitable, still practically bouncing on their feet at twenty, and eager to help just about anyone. Lux enjoys making people happy and ssafe, and while there are people who don't trust magic users in this town, they are a chronic people pleasure and is still trying to earn favor with some of them. They have a familiar, a black goblin-like cat named Nyx, who is always by their side. They are long, with sleek black fur and piercing yellow eyes.
Lux has wild honey-blonde hair that is just barely long enough that they can bull it back if they wish to. Their hair is fine, but there's a lot of it, making it thick with just enough of a curl pattern to make it difficult to manage. They don't usually put too much care into the hair anyways- why would they when they like the ~aesthetic~ of a slightly crazed mage that likes to live in the edge of the village? They have warm, amber, eyes that are almost always crinkled up in some form of an amused smile. They have an affinity towards maroon colored robes, and has a pair that they often wear. This pair had been gifted to them about a year after living in this town after helping rebuild a shop that had been destroyed during a fierce storm. It's a favorite of theirs and still wears it as often as they possibly can.
Oliver / 20 / Male (Ziotsu) Oliver's family are rather famous, being blacksmiths that specialize in weapons. They are still well known, and unknown to Oliver, were the reason he was chosen in the first place. The church thought it would be useful to have a connection with people who would be able to provide realistic props for the festivals. It was better than picking some random kid from some unknown family. For the first ten years of his life, Oliver was a rather normal kid, at most he took more of an interest in things that seemed strange to others. He was a night owl, differing wildly from his parents and enjoyed doing busy work while others were sleeping. He didn't really display any abilities while he lived with his parents. Even with this, he wasn't surprised when he was chosen. Like it was just something he knew would happen eventually. He went without complaints, and was complimented for his calm demeanor for someone of his age. The next ten years was chaotic to say the least. Oliver slowly remembered broad events from his past, and even more slowly awakened to more of his abilities. He found he was really good at hiding from the priests when he really didn't want to spend time reading, which apparently was something Zixuna could do really well. He found that when it came to injuries, he was able to help dull the pain. He still couldn't figure out how to reach that same level he's heard that Zixuna was able to do, but he is still working towards that. Compared to his slow growth, and fast uptake on the ceremonies, he became worried for his partner. They had yet to show any sign that they would be able to do anything that the sun god was supposed to do. He tries his best to help them out, but he can tell they are getting more and more frustrated by the day. He questions why this was even happening, and wishes that he could figure out his own abilities so he could help his partner better.
As a person, Oliver is rather patient with other people. He takes his time with others to help them with their troubles. In contrast, he is frustrated by his lack of memories and abilities, and with how vague it is, he really considers him and Zixuna as two separate people. He just so happens to have used to be her. He enjoys moments that are intimate, where it can just be him and world. Not worrying about others and not worrying about his lack of abilities. He doesn't have to think he is the moon god and can just let life be. He doesn't have to think about the nagging thought in the back of his head that maybe his partner is not actually the sun god. He loves his family, and will often try to make up excuses to go home to spend time with them. He enjoys how strangely quiet the workshop gets, where no one is really talking, and all the sounds are of people working. He loves showing of his abilities to his younger sister, and is trying to teach her how to use some of the weapons he has a natural 'talent' for.
Oliver himself is short, enough to be poked fun of by the current sun god. No matter what they do, though, he doesn't really mind how short he is. He has relatively long black colored hair which he likes to put up in this low bun. His skin is naturally pale, though he has spent enough time outside to give him a slight tan to it. Honestly, it just accomplishes in making him not look very light, and doesn't present as an actual tan. He has dark blue eyes, with flecks of silver dotting the iris. His ceremony robes is made up of many layers of fabric, rope and gems. The main robe is a long dark blue robe with long sleeves to match. It splits off towards the bottom revealing a silver under-robe beneath. He has a secondary cape of a similar blue, some purples mixed in that is held up with two of half of the two god's symbols with strings of silver beads attached. The cape flows to the ground from the back, going from the dark blue to more of a lavender color, the whole thing decorated in small silver gems. There is a slightly lighter color of blue that matches the specific symbol for the moon god, a circle with a four pointed star in the center. His hair is done up, still in a low bun, with a silver circlet decorated with dark blue and purple ornaments such as beads and gems. When not trying to die of a heatstroke with layers and layers of fabric, he likes the robes that apprentice priests wear. A simple blue or tan robe that is just a couple of layers depending on the season. When going out in town he wears a spare blacksmith's uniform from his family's shop.

It had been well over a year since Oliver went to see his family. It wasn't something that he was allowed to do, as it would require him to leave the church. He was only supposed to leave the main church on official duty; his role as Zixuna was too important to let him just run around the city like it was no big deal. This, however, did not stop Oliver. At this moment he was making long strides up one of the side paths in town wearing a lower priest's outfit. He had taken it long ago and used it sometimes to get out of the main church area. Most people didn't think twice of him, as most of them had only ever seen Oliver in his full dress-up. They just considered him a priest. He had to be careful not to let anyone look at him too closely as his eye color was a dead giveaway that would only end up with him in trouble. He had one destination in mind; he was going to his parents workshop. They were in charge of making the replicas for the festival this year, and he was curious on how it was going. He felt like maybe if he was able to put input in on Zixuna's bow, he may remember something. Plus the added benefit of him seeing his family again.

Nyx was certainly on one today.
Lux couldn't tell what in the world was wrong with their familiar- she was grumpy towards others, yes, but she was a fantastic partner and was more helpful than most. So the days when she acted more, well, cat like Lux never knew what to do with them.
Especially today- when they were technically supposed to be going to a blacksmith in town to repair their weapon- but instead they were chasing the dam.ned cat all over town... Which was how they ran into Oliver, literally. They had been chasing Nyx down the path, only more than a shadowy blur, clearly on a mission when they slammed right into a young man... a priest from the church.
Oh, how boring.
"Sorry! Sorry, Nyx- " Surpisingly their familiar had stopped in her tracks, staring at the priest intently with piercing yellow eyes, giving them a chance to scoop her up firmly and slide her into their maroon colored robes, fumbling for a moment before she was essentially burrito-ed in and couldn't escape. "I'm- wow. I'm sorry, are you alright?" They finally asked between heavy breaths, finally able to gasp for air.

Oliver let out a surprised yelp as he tumbled to the ground. He had only barely noticed the oncoming blur for a second when he felt the slam. The sudden collision had knocked the wind out of him for just a second, having to take time to get his breath back. He stared at the cat in turn, eyes only flicking up for just a second as she was picked up. He didn't dare to look the person in the eyes. "Your cat is pretty dangerous" He let out a breathless laugh, trying to buy time so he could stand up on his own. He didn't seem to get an offer from them, so it was likely they were seeing if he could get up on his own. Once he did get to his feet he finally answered their question "I'm fine, just got the wind knocked out of me. Wow." He doubled over for a second, taking a few more deep breaths "You said the cat's name was Nyx?" Oliver didn't dare to look at the other person. It was already dangerous enough that he was slammed into, and he didn't need the stranger to start panicking about how they 'angered a god' or whatever would be spouted this time if he was discovered.

Lux let out a bright, loud, laugh at the comment of Nyx being pretty dangerous. Oh, this stranger didn't know the half of it, but at least he wasn't upset about being slammed into like that. Nyx let out a loud honk-like meow, clutching onto Lux once she realized they had a solid hold on her, knowing well that she wasn't going to be let go any time soon. Lux was mildly relieved when the stranger stood up- so he was walking, at least,- although he wasn't actually looking at Lux.
Hmm.
What a strange fellow they had run into here. Lux tilted their head to one side, eyes crinkling in curiosity, patting Nyx before nodding. "Yup," Popping the 'p' as they kissed her furry little head. "Usually she doesn't really run away, she likes staying by me, but she's on one today. I think she likes you well enough, though. " Since she actually stopped. "I'm Lux- what's your name?"

Oliver smiled at the laugh, he was glad that someone else found it funny other than him. His smile turned into a laugh when Nyx honked, it was a strange sound that he had never heard before. Sure he has seen cats and heard them, but he never heard one sound like that.
He felt rude at the moment, still averting his eyes from Lux. Even when they introduced themselves, he didn't turn his gaze over. Oliver was always taught to be polite to anyone because he would never know who they are. While his position was over just about everyone in the country, he had to be polite because there could be someone from another country visiting the church. He should be fine at the moment, it wasn't like Lux knew his identity. "I'm Oliver. It is nice to meet you" His gaze shifted up the hill, where he was going to travel next "I do have to cut this short, though. I am surprising my family today and I don't have a ton of time before I have to go back to the church." he gestured up the hill towards his family's workshop. At this angle he would be entering in the back door, but it was a faster way to get there than taking the main road.

"I'm still in training so I don't get a whole lot of time off" Oliver lied, shrugging a bit. It was true that priests in training tended to spend most of their time in church, but he has long since passed training. When Lux had mentioned needing to go to the blacksmith, Oliver internally groaned. Great, he was going to be outed anyways unless he wanted to hide in the back room till they left. Depending on what they needed to get done, it could be most of the day. "Wait" He said before Lux got too far, motioning towards a slightly different pathway "My family owns that blacksmith. I know a faster way that may let you get there at least a bit earlier as long as you don't mind going in from the back." He paused for only a breath "Oh and don't worry, my parents are understanding. They won't be upset as long as you are with me. Just...don't freak out on me" Oliver stopped outright hiding his gaze from them, but he didn't make it a point to look directly at them. He hoped his request for them not freaking out would extend to if they realized who they were talking to. He really didn't want a commotion.

(they can be. It isn't fully unique, but his eye color + hair color + the fact he is a 'priest' makes it easy for people to put two and two together. At least that is how I imagined his previous encounters and the reason he doesn't really let people see his eyes so they don't really try to put two and two together. Having black hair a bit more common. hope that makes sense )

(Gotcha, that makes total sense! Thank you. Should Lux know Olivers family?)
Lux hummed at that, not wanting to sound too judgmental. Personally, they still didn't understand the point in hiding these young priests away- sure, training was important but they really didn't understand why they had to be so separated from family during training. It made their heart ache for some reason, so lux didn't want to dwell too much on this. Not until they were told to hang on a second- and Oh? It looks like they were headed to the same place. They weren't so sure about using the back door to go into the blacksmiths shop- that felt a bit too familiar- but Oliver was insisting it was alright and if they were going the same way anyways... it couldn't really hurt, right?
Although- Lux wasn't really sure why Oliver was asking them not to freak out- they weren't sure why until they fully turned around and looked at their newfound friend and- oh ho ho, what did they have here? Blue eyes, black hair, a priest? A slow, amused, smirk crept onto their face. This was one of the churches supposed gods- wasn't it? No wonder he was being kept away like some maiden. "You aren't actually a priest, are you?" They sounded amused, if anything, because Lux truly didn't believe that the church actually had the gods in their care- it was a little too easy, that they were found every rebirth cycle, in Luxes opinion.
Their working theory was they found a couple of kids that had some aptitude for magic and used them as a figure head until they eventually burned out.
If the gods were truly actively working for the people- then how were there so many families that outcasted their children? Wouldn't there be stronger relationships within the kingdom if they had the embodiment of the sun and the moon in their hands?
They wouldn't blame Oliver, though, but they sure as hell weren't going to treat him with reverence.
"How'd you manage to sneak out of the castle, you rascal? You're probably giving the priests a heart attack," Lux laughed, loving the idea of it all as they gestured towards the path, "C'mon, then, before you get caught."

Oliver breathed a sigh of relief when Lux didn't immediately start to apologize to him. He felt less tense about walking side by side with them now "You got me. You think they keep priests in training locked up, just think what it must be like for me and Victoria. She's the current Leto, by the way. The priests get really nervous with us being out. It makes sense. If I die today then it is at least another 10 years before my reincarnation is found again." He said, still super glad that they sounded more like they were about to laugh than actually freak out on him. He started to walk up the hill, trusting that they would follow him instead of looking back to make sure they were. "The outfit helps. Most priests have never seen me outside of my ceremonial garbs. As long as I look down and avoid the busy parts of the church I normally can get out. That being said, it has been well over a year now since the last time I was out as 'Oliver'. They got really protective when they found out about my last outing." Honestly, he felt like the priests were a bit too overprotective. Oliver didn't want to die just as much as they didn't want Zixuna to die. Even with that fact, it wasn't like too much would change if he disappeared. Victoria could take care of the ceremonies till his reincarnation was found and then things would be back to normal. There wouldn't even be that much change to how much power he had, and even if he came back with no power, Victoria was living proof that they could fulfill their responsibilities even when powerless.

(A lot better than when she passed. She has been in my life for over 10 years, and she was a huge support for the last five years as I transitioned to living on my own so I have to relearn how to handle life without her. It's been difficult but I'm slowly doing better)
(luckily my reply length hasn't suffered as much as I thought it would)
"Well it's kind of like how you didn't really recognize me at first. A black haired priest isn't super rare, and who is going to think that I'm trying to leave? The High Priests don't want those rumors circulating just as much as me. Works out in my favor, honestly." Oliver approached the back door as he listened to Lux's other questions. Honestly he had no idea if his room was found empty or if it was just bad luck. He was leaning more towards bad luck based on the look of shock on Priest Mathis' face. "I didn't just tell them, imagine if I did that though. I'm certain Mathis wouldn't know what to do with himself." Oliver let out another louder laugh imagining the look on the High Priest's face if he admitted to the amount of times he left the church. "Nah, I just got unlucky. Mathis had left the church for some emergency and caught me on my return trip." Oliver shrugged with the remnants of the laugh still in his voice. He opened the door in front of the pair for Lux, motioning for them to go in. "I wouldn't want to threaten them, either. Not really my thing. Plu-" Oliver stopped himself, biting his lip a bit to keep his own mouth shut. He really shouldn't start spouting things that were considered a secret like him not really able to use any of those abilities.
The inside of the back door looks like the front room of a normal house with stairs leading to a second floor on the right side. It connected to the blacksmith through a small hallway to the left. From the upstairs, the sound of a door opening could be heard followed by the sound of rushing footsteps.

(That sounds so hard! Good luck with your transition, it can be a rough one </3)
"To be fair I never paid much attention to the churches celebrations anyways. I don't think I've ever saw you- or that other one. You said her name was Violet? Yeah- I'm not sure if I've ever actually seen you. Aren't the priests the ones you see daily?" Lux questioned as they approached the back door. Still, Lux was a little wary about entering through the more private part of the home, finding themselves hesitate for the moment when Oliver let out a loud laugh at their questions "Oh man- that is pretty bad luck," They agreed in amusement, a wry smile curling onto their lips at that. Getting caught on the way back home-- that had to be the worst type of luck. What was interesting, though, was that Oliver seemed to have more to contribute than it was just not his personality.
Which was... interesting, that was for sure.
They weren't sure what they wanted to say next, but clearly Oliver stopping himself meant that this wasn't something he was going to actually share with a stranger. "Keep your secrets then," They teased, following Oliver in, surprised to see a rather normal house instead of the blacksmith shop that Lux was starting to become familiar with. They had the tendency to break their blades, after all, and while they could create new ones rather easily, Lux was a sentimental type and wanted to keep the blades that they were particularly proud of.

Oliver shook his head, choosing to respond only to the first part and not a comment on his 'secrets'. "Her name is Victoria. And there ones I see every day, but its not like I see all of them. Again, don't underestimate the power of assuming. It really helps." He was a bit distracted, looking around and listening for a second. Soon after, he could see his younger sister-Jade-swing around the top of the stairs and leap down. She looked similar to Oliver, less pale but with the same black hair. Her eyes were a deep brown color and she was roughly 13 years old this year. She was about to run up when her eyes landed on Lux "Mom and dad are upset that you're late" She immediately said to Lux. She recognized then from the times they were in the blacksmith. "I don't even get a hello? Tell them to not blame 'em too much. They had to chase after their cat and ran into me." Oliver walked forward confidently, giving Jade a quick pat on her head "I'm going to get changed, do you want to take him to the workshop?" It was lucky that she had come downstairs, he really wanted to get out of this outfit. Jade gave a nod and walked forward to the door on the right, pulling it open "Come on" She waved starting to make her way from the house to the workshop. Oliver smiled over to Lux, giving a wave. It was likely that he would be back down before they left but he wasn't fully sure. With that he leapt up the stairs just as fast as Jade had come down.

(Hi, sorry! My classes ended up taking a lot out of me this week ^^')
Lux hums at that, because he really did have a point. There was a certain power in assumptions- one that could go either way. Clearly, it was working for Oliver now, and Lux wouldn't question that... too much. Personally, Lux still wanted to pester Oliver more, but suddenly there were footsteps and a child yeeted leaped down from the stairwell. Ah- one of Olivers sisters. Lux had seen Jade before, while they were dropping off their weapons, and also working with the black smith in the past. This time, though, Lux was extremely eager to get their blade back. Sure, it was easy to make another, but this particular blade was one of the first that they had created with their magic.
And... well. Lux was sentimental. So when they had destroyed the blade on accident, they were willing to pay anything to get it back in working condition. The warlock grimaced when Jade immediately told Lux that they were late- and her parents were upset- opening their mouth to explain but Oliver swooped in. Lux glanced at him, before back at his sister, smiling bashfully. "I couldn't just let Nyx run off on her own. It's a bit dangerous for her," They explained, following her and giving Oliver a friendly wave, "I am sorry though- I hadn't realized how late I was. I was hoping I'd be able to grab her before she got too far, but I guess not," Nyx let out a mrrp in agreement, stretching out of her spot in Luxes robes to sniff at Jade.

(that's fine. its back to school for a lot of people. my semester starts on Monday also apologizing ahead of time for any stupid grammar mistakes. managed to dislocate my shoulder so I am only typing with my left hand atm.) (I am also not doing any formatting. I should be back to 100% in a little over a week) (planned names for the parents are Benny and Alyssa)
Jade led Lux through a small hallway that ended to the right of the main entrance of the blacksmith. "Mom, Dad, Lux is here" she called out, walking towards the back of the shop to find them. It only took a few more seconds for a man was following her back to the front "Took you quite a bit of time to make it today" he commented, wiping a few beads of sweat from his head "His cat ran off" Jade glanced at the immobilized cat "Oliver also says no to blame them" "Oh? Oliver is here?" that question only got a nod from Jade, who in turn retreated back to the house. The man gave a laugh. "Well, glad you made it safely. Don't mind Jade, by the way, she always bothers Oliver when he visits." He paused, deciding to get to the point of Lux's visit "So what's the damage this time?"
Oliver had managed to get himself changed rather fast, he always disliked the robes and much preferred the tan shirt and dark brown pants that were the 'uniform' his family wore in the workshop. He also liked the apron that was tightened with a belt. He was only part of the way down the stairs when Jade was making her way up "Can we get my bow? I've been practicing" She was straight to the point, which Oliver was more than willing to oblige to "Sure, I will see if Mom and Dad have an extra one for me to use. I'll meet you in the workshop" He watched as Jade went upstairs and made his way towards the workshop. He would have to wait till after the deal was made with Lux, but he was willing to wait a bit.

(Yeah, my district that I work at started back a couple of weeks ago, but literally every teacher is out sick with Covid so I've been covering for a lot of folks.
Also no problem at all! I'm sorry you dislocated your shoulder,r hopefully you have a quick recovery!)
Lux looked at the hallway with interest, loving that it was connected to the blacksmith. It must be nice to live right where you work- late Nights would be easier like that- and everything was so nice and cozy, almost. Lux smiled at Benny and Allyssa, sheepish at the comment, because Lux really did try to be timely for their clients- or when they were a client to someone else. "I really am sorry- I couldn't just let Nyx run off like that. It's not safe," They explained, giving her a pat on the head, because Nyx wasn't just any cat- she was their familiar... and having one on the loose, without their master, was never a fun situation. "I broke my sword- and I really need it to be fixed- oh, have you ever worked with Scythes? I managed to nick my blade pretty bad, but that one can be dealt with later if you don't "
They lifted their left hand, a warm energy flowing through the shop as they summoned the broken sword first. A soft, golden, aura surrounded their hand until the sword appeared in their hand. They then offered it to the blacksmith. The blade was... in pretty bad shape. Knicked in multiple places, bent towards the tip, even the handle was in need of some TLC. "I was practicing and got... a little carried away," They explained sheepishly, "Do you think you could fix it?"

Alyissa took a step forward looking at the sword in Lux's hands. "It is going to take a while, but we can get it taken care of." She reached out to grab the sword so she could examine it a bit closer "You can leave and come back or stick around. I can't promise we will get this done quickly, it is quite damaged. I would like to see the scythe, we can get both of them done for you so you don't have to make extra trips"
Oliver curiously craned his head to try to see the damage to the sword and frowned. It wasn't often to see that sort of magic like that, but that was the least of his concerns. What were they fighting to cause that much damage? Given the reactions of his parents, this was either common or not nearly as bad as it looked. He was pulled from his thoughts when Jade pushed her way through the shop and out the front door, presumably towards the small area behind the shop where she could practice and wait for Oliver. So much for meeting her in the store.

(Super chaotic, I've been pushed to other classes a few times already bc there hasn't been enough adults in the building)
Thank goodness it could be fixed- Lux really wasn't sure whether it could be. Sure, they typically used it for practice, but Lux had gotten lazy with weaponry care and they typically got carried away when they practiced... so, it took a beating. Not to mention if someone hired them to take care of a threat- but that wasn't very often. Still, it was enough that there was a good amount of damage to their precious blade. "Take as much time as you can- as long as you can fix it," they just want it fixed- even if it took a long while.
Lux reached up again, that warm magic returning to the blacksmith as hthey summoned the scythe. It was in significantly better condition- there was only a few nicks along the blade, an easy enough fix. They primarily used it for their gardens and keeping the grass nice and neat... it just hit a stone every now and then. Or something else- stuff that was hard enough to nick the fine steel that Lux had used to craft this. "This one isn't too bad- but I use it a lot more than my sword- you know. Because of the food. Unfortunately that means I need it fixed more often- I think."
