(You're too sweet~)
The scout let out another sharp sound as he collided with the bars. He staggered, trying to keep himself upright, but he very quickly fell to the ground and didn't rise.
Aarow remained frozen where he was, watching the now-massive dragon move about in the cell. His mind was still blank, he had no clue what to do or if he should try to say anything. He doubted he'd find his voice if he did.

Aoife let out a light huff and fell to the ground in her human form. She glanced over at Aarow and then back to the unconscious guard. She sniffed a bit, looking down at the raw burns on her hands that had come from her changing. She searched the scout for his keys and made a quiet little trumpet sound as she crossed over to her cell door. She reached around the bars and opened it, wincing at the burn of the iron. Her side was no longer bleeding but her hands were shaking terribly as she reached Aarow's door.
"You helped me." She murmured quietly, staring at him. "Why?"

Aarow hesitated, uncertain exactly how to put into words what had gone through his mind. He took a second before speaking, his voice failing to keep even. "I didn't like it." He mumbled with a small shake of his head. "They told me so many things that didn't seem right, and then what they were doing..." He withdrew slightly, his arms moving to his chest and stomach as though to guard himself. "So much of it was wrong."

Aoife tilted her head at him, considering him for a moment before she stepped closer to his cell. "You're not completely human, are you?" She asked, placing the key inside the lock. Her eyes never left him as she turned it, expecting it to be some sort of trap. She left the keys in as she opened the door. Her eyes narrowed as she stepped away from it.

"I, well, I'm human as far as I know." Aarow replied, watching her open the cell. He waited, watching her move back before he approached the door and stepped out cautiously into the hall. He was still wary of the dragon, but he was able to place this fear as something other than being attacked. If she'd wanted to hurt him, she'd have cornered him in the cell rather than letting him out. "There's a fair number of humans who can use magic or have other unusual abilities, but I don't know much about them." He admitted.
His eyes went to the muzzle. He wasn't sure she'd let him get too near her, but it would only irritate her scales and wounds further if he left it locked on her. He started to lift his hand toward her, but stopped as he realized that making any movement toward her without actually speaking was probably dangerous. "I can unclasp it and let you out. It looks like it hurts." He offered quietly.

Aoife flinched slightly when he raised his hand, but nodded slightly when he offered to unclasp it. She nodded, "please," she said softly as she looked over at the exit and back at the unconscious scout. "You're not like the others." She murmured, eyeing him once again, "what will happen to you for helping me?"

Aarow looked a bit worried at the thought. The other soldiers hadn't exactly been the most welcoming toward him to begin with, now he had two major marks against him; he'd lied about his powers and he'd helped a dragon escape. Instead of answering right away, he just reached for the back of the muzzle, his hands shaking badly enough it took him a few tries to actually unlock it correctly. In truth, he didn't know of anything like this - either of these things - happening. He had no idea what would happen, but he knew it wouldn't be good.

Aoife smacked her lips together a few times when the muzzle was removed and reached up to wipe at the wounds at the sides of her mouth. She reached up and gripped his wrist gently, staring at him intently. "Come with me." She said seriously, able to talk now without it being muffled. "I can protect you from them..." She looked over as another scout came down into the barracks. He was whistling a merry tune and held a long blade that Aoife recognised that was often used to remove horns from recently killed dragons. She growled lowly and the scout jumped about two feet in the air before running back up the stairs, shouting for the Commander and other scouts. "Decide quickly, human." Aoife turned back to him, her eyes flashing dangerously.

Aarow turned quickly at the sound of the whistle, about to call for the scout to stop and come back. He wasn't quick enough and the man was out the door in a heartbeat. He turned his head back to the dragon as she spoke. "I... I'll go." He replied with a small nod. He never wanted to be here in the first place, and really this was the first time someone had actually welcomed him somewhere to go with them aside from being drafted. It would be easier than staying here, he hoped.

Aoife nodded, "I cannot hold my true form for long in this state, but I can perhaps long enough to get us both out of here," And with that, she shifted into her dragon form. Unlike her humaiod form, she had two sets of horns, and her scales were closer together. She bad a long mane of black fur that went down her spine. She turned her head to Aarow and ducked it to allow him to climb on, and just as she did, several scouts poured into the barracks.

Aarow had started to hesitate again when the door to the stockades slammed open and he startled badly. The fright was enough to drive him forward, doing his best to take hold of her scales and pull himself up. As soon as he was seated, he ducked his head down near hers to avoid striking the ceiling or taking a hit from any of the scouts. His shield wouldn't hold for any period of time around her full-sized form, but he didn't think he could focus enough to hold it anyways. It was still something near breath-taking to see her like this.

Aoife breathed fire at their feet. It was painfully obvious how hard she was trying not to kill them. She surged forward, through the group, getting slashed across the legs as she moved, lucky for her, the wounds were not too deep and didn't bleed too badly. She ducked out through the door and jumped, beating her wings fiercely to gain flight. She was unable to get a decent run-up while in the enemy camp. Once in the air, she headed towards the beaches. She flew for about ten minutes before she faltered terribly and started back down towards the ground.

Aarow kept quiet during their escape, his head pressed down by the back of hers. As he realized the strong winds were grown and the ground was falling further and further away from them, he tightened his hold on the dragon's mane. By the time they began to descend, his hands were drained of color and almost numb from holding so tightly to her. As they touched down to the ground, he let go slowly and slid down to the sand. He was a little puzzled by this place, as he'd never actually seen the beach before. "Where are we?" He asked quietly.

Aoife shifted back into her humanoid form, "A beach." She responded, moving over to the water, limping slightly as she waded into the water. "I wanted to wash the blood off. I can't fly for a little while. I think the spear trap hit an artery or something hence why I bled so much." She looked up and over at where they had come from. She stepped back out of the water, her scales dripping on the sand as she returned to him. She faltered just a bit in her step again. She let out a shaky sigh, reaching up to rub at her horns where she had been hit easier. She sat down on the sand and gripped at her stomach, closing her eyes. "You can leave now. It's about a day's walk from your camp here, assuming they know which way to go."

Aarow was quiet for a moment, taking this in and thinking it over. If he went anywhere with other people, there was no doubt the barracks would spread the news that he was technically a traitor and a deserter. He didn't have anyone waiting for him anywhere in the world, or any idea how to get a home of his own. If he kept to the wilds, no doubt he'd only run into more creatures, possibly dragons who might still be hostile. He really didn't have any place to be going to.

Aoife let out a quiet sigh and layed back down in the sand, and from this angle, the thin outlines of her ribs could bery clearly be seen againt her scaled skin. She closed her eyes. "There's no need to be so tense, human." She mumured sleepily, "you're safe with me, i have no intention of killing anyone."
(Thi'll be my only post, i need sleep.)

(Ok, its 10am for me and i get out of work at 2pm)
"That's not entirely what I'm worried about." Aarow mumbled quietly, but he didn't say anything else to avoid bothering her. She seemed tired, and understandably so. A lot had just happened. He quietly sat down on the sand and looked around a few seconds before turning his attention to the water. It was sort of perplexing. Did it just go on forever? He hadn't really seen any world maps...

Aoife was quiet for several moments before she jumped up suddenly and vanished in the trees behind there after a moment, she returned with two rabbits in her hands There was dark red blood dripping glaring her jaws. She moved to sit on the sand again, paused on realising something, left the dead rabbits on the ground and returned to the woods. She came back out with a pile of sticks, which she set up as a crude fireplace and it it up with her breath. "I would offer you some," she said quietly as she cut the rabbit's stomach, "but it's been a very long time since I've eaten anything."

Aarow gave an understanding nod and turned his gaze back to the water. The smell alone was new and it held his attention fairly easily. The sound of the waves rolling over the sand was something that brought a small smile to his face. It was nice. "Are there beaches like this everywhere?" He asked curiously.

"All over the world." She responded through a mouthful of only half cooked rabbit. he had turned away from him because she was eating incredibly messily. She crunched on the bones, and blood dripped down her maw. She swallowed, wiping the blood away from her silver scales. "Before the war these places used to be used all the time for fun and scoalising. I knew some water dragons who would give children rides to depths that could never be reached by men alone." She sighed, tossing the remaining fur onto the fire where it started to smoke. She stared at it for a long moment before taking it back off. "My parents, before they were killed, helped with construction. My father was a worker. He couldn't use a breathe attack, and he spent his younger years as a hoarder. My mother was a dragon born from lava. She helped with heating spas and keeping old people's home warm in winter." She sighed, "they never killed anyone ... and they the first to be slaughtered."

Aarow turned his head, facing her when she spoke. He listened quietly, the smile falling from his face. "I'm sorry." He replied quietly. He wasn't certain what else would be appropriate to say. "What was it like? Did you get to live with them?" He asked, curious about what it had been like to live like a normal family before all of this. It wasn't often he could ask such a question.

"I did. I was five when the war first broke out. I've been on my own since. Instinct is a powerful thing to overcome," She ripped open the rabbit carcass and dumped it into the fire. She watched as the meat turned from red to black and stared as it swallowed up the fur. She was quiet as she spoke, "I watched them take my parents skulls." She looked over at him, her eyes flickering in the firelight. "Why did you join the army if you would just throw back what they gave you by helping me?"

Aarow gave a small shake of his head. "They didn't really give me anything. I didn't have a family, so I was in foster care. When I turned eighteen, they drafted me as soon as I was out of the foster system's custody. I never had any dislike for dragons, so they told me stories and made me afraid. I believed a lot of what they said, but everything that happened today made me realize they just wanted me to become hateful." He told her.

"If you get caught will me, we'll both be executed." She mumbled as she lifted a brought cooked leg from the fire pit and offered it to him. "Here, I don't want you to starve to death if you're going to be staying with me." She fell quiet as she picked up another bit of the meat and started chewing on it, bone and all.
After she had eaten, she settled in the sand and ran a hand over the wounds they had given her. They had started to heal since she had been eating and although they still looked raw and painful, they were no longer oozing the silver blue lifeblood of dragons.

Aarow hesitated, not sure if he should take the food since she'd said she hadn't been eating for a while. "Are you certain it's alright?" He asked, ducking his head a bit. He wasn't used to accepting things from other people. "I'll be alright for now, you said you needed it."

"I can find more. There is a warren just near the edge of the forest. They've all burrowed away now, but if I want them I can dig." She responded through a mouthful. "Food tastes better when it's been worked for, and I think you've earned it. You saved my life after all."

(Sorry, we were lazy yesterday ) "If you're sure." Aaron replied quietly, taking the rabbit meat from her with a small dip of his head. He sat a little straighter as he adjusted his posture and he started to stare at the water again. "Do you think those water dragons are still out there, just really deep down?" He asked curiously as he started eating. Some dragons had to have found a place humans couldn't reach them.
