A short time ahead from now, in the same galaxy we're currently in...
The year is 2090. By now, Earth is pretty much shot. Humans are really good at breaking down the ozone layer and melting the glaciers and all that. But, humans are resilient. Everyone loves a good human. And they begin to spread out, here, there, mostly to Mars, but farther too. They make a little colony on Pluto. They go farther.
They find new life, new species, not like them, but some like them in all ways but a few. They find peaceful peoples and war waging ones, and they explore.
Earth? Earth is boring. Space is the new, new thing.
Whether you yourself are human, are prospering because of the trade and ingenuity they bring, or want to kill them all, you're stuck here in the Milky Way. It's a galactic free for all.
Some important places...
Mars Colony 717:
Th largest human exclusive planet in the galaxy. Mars 717 is home to more than a billion of the buggers, and frankly, it's a bit packed. In between being a big trading posts for other humans and aliens alike, and being closest to 'home,' it's a popular spot.
If you live here, you're most likely a working individual or criminal, so nothing special. Maybe you're even a conman, an intergalactic goods traders. Who knows? You could be anything.
Galactic Base 900X:
The first of its kind!
Galactic Base 900X is a hub for anyone, everyone, and anything that's passing through. People of all species come here to refuel their ships, buy goods, or even live! With sixty decks, each the size of a couple football stadiums, no wonder it's such popular place.
If you live here, you're most likely an explorer, someone who isn't tied down, who is looking for adventure. Good for you. Go see the universe!
Station 5:
Ah, Station 5. Little, insignificant, sad, Station 5.
Pluto isn't exactly the biggest (it's small), or the most temperate (it's cold as hell), or very much of anything at all, but one thing it is is livable! With the help of being surrounded in a giant glass bubble, that it...
If you live here, you might be a researcher, or a deep space explorer. Pluto, despite being so small, is home to an off planet refueling dock for big ships that are going out to explore the unknown. Though it may be tiny, people on it are doing some important work!

Theta Allsop | Agender | 201 | Is'y | Galactic Base 900X
Theta, though appearing to be masculine to the human eye, does not identify in the bounds of human gender. They are tall, maybe around six-foot-eight, with a long, lanky body. Their arms are a bit longer than would be considered natural, same with their legs and fingers, and their skin is sickly pale enough to reveal almost all of their veins. They have a swath of near-black curly hair that touches the tips of their (elvish) ears, but barely any eyebrows, eyelashes, or facial hair. Their features are very pointed, nearly all of them looking triangular. Their eyes are unsettlingly dark, almost entirely black, and their mouth is very small and pinched.
Theta, despite their looks, is a pretty nice person. They're smart, but don't very often let onto it in casual conversation. Knowledge is very valued in their race. But, humor is also, and Theta has a good, though slightly odd sense of humor. Humans find it amusing, at least. Theta's only downfall is that they're very... touchy. Their entire species are touch telepaths, being able to tell how someone's feeling, and even sometimes what they're thinking by laying a hand on their shoulder, and it's a hard habit to break when your entire planet does it as a form of communication.
Theta lives on the Galactic Base in order to do their research. Back at home they'd been observing humans casually, but now that the little species is expanding, Theta is free to go and live among them. That doesn't mean that they don't occasionally poke their nose out into the surrounding space though, and often end up getting in trouble for it.

Noelani Finn | Female | 19 | Human | Mars Colony 717
Nolani is small and curvy, standing at about five-foot-two. She has a mane of curly brown-blonde hair that often gets tangled, and comes down to a bit past her shoulders. She often puts it up in a bun, since the bottom gets straighter when it gets longer, and she never remembers to cut it. She has large hazel eyes, and always has a full face of makeup on if she's out in public and not working. Her face is very round and kind looking, which tends to attract people to her. When she's at home or just going out for shopping though, she's in her sweats and a t-shirt with no makeup. She has pretty acne prone skin, so sometimes it's just a pain to apply everything.
Nolani considers herself to be pretty darn funny. She loves to make people laugh, and to perform. She wanted to be an actress when she was younger, but she did well enough in school that she's pursuing a degree in neurology at the Mars Colony before she goes somewhere more interesting, hopefully the Galactic Base. Her one downfall is that she has massive issues with anxiety, and it tends to interfere with her ability to perform well on her bad days. She always makes sure to put on a smile for her family and friends though. She never wants them to worry.
Nolani was raised on the Mars Colony, so she's been a resident her entire life. The only reason she didn't go to school off-planet was because she didn't think she'd have the money, and she wouldn't like being away from her family all that much.

Skyra Zanezza Wing D'Claire Stelliana (Zazzy) | Female | 143 | Dansakie | Galactic Base 900x
Zazzy is extremely colorful, along with the rest of her dwindling race. Her hair naturally grows like liquid mercury - silver and ten times more shimmery than glitter. It curls into water-soft and silky-smooth ringlets to the middle of her back, which is covered in skin paler than cream. Her skin is traced with intricate gold designs, thinner than thread, and curling over her skin like dye in water. They pulse with her heartbeat, which means they blitz around dizzyingly when she panics or works out. The color of white-washed strawberries fill in her smooth, full lips - smoother than glass, just like the rest of her skin. Zazzy's eyes are eerie at best, terrifying at worst with their shockingly neon violet shade that darkens with her anger, her pupils slit like a snakes. Thin, translucent wings can unfold from her back, shaped like a dragonflies with their intricate designs and glittering color. Her body is tall, hitting almost six foot five, but impossibly slim - slimmer than a human models. This was, however, a healthy weight for her species. The Dansakie are quiet, humble people, with a natural talent for music and sirenic singing voice. They are relatively introversive, preferring to keep quiet and to themselves. But they did have beautiful galas and social event a few times a year, which Zazzy loved. With her shy but sparkling personality and a determination to live life to the fullest, Zazzy left her home from beyond these colonies when she was young. She settled down in a small but luxorious ship she calls "Messa," inherited from her parents after their death, along with a unreasonably large sized bank account. She has a small, reasonable dock and loves her ship as one would love a life-long home. She wears unusual clothing, but they flatter her beautifully as she flutters to and fro with her dragonfly wings.

Sage Allen | Male | 24 | Human | Mars Colony 717
Sage stands at an even 6 feet, with a pretty average build and a little bit of pudge on his stomach. His skin is a bit tan. His hair is dark brown and wavy, shaved at the sides; often he wears the longer parts in a short ponytail. Usually he sports a bit of dark stubble along his jawline. Both of his ears are pierced, and he usually wears simple black studs in them. Along his left forearm he has a tattoo: two circles next to each other, representing the eastern and western hemispheres of Earth as an homage to his heritage. On his right forearm is a stylized tattoo of a map of the known universe.
Sage is equally as proud of his species as he is fascinated by the creatures from planets far away. He loves the resilience of humanity, the universality of art and myth between human cultures-- he also loves just how, well, alien some of the other individuals he meets are. He has a sense of adventure, and is a big extrovert. In addition, he's not organized when it comes to his possessions or his work.
He's employed at the colony headquarters, but does the odd jobs that might normally be assigned to an intern, like grabbing coffee for executives or delivering mail. His mother lived most of her life at Station 5, but met his father from 717, so Sage spent most of his life here. Both of his parents have been dead for a few years, though.
