sorry for the late response, i was getting something to eat!
we'd start with bramblestar era time (end of avos, i was thinking). so bramblestar, harestar, leafstar, tigerheartstar, and mistystar. We were thinking that five generations (or somewhere close to that- it should fluctuate from clan to clan) would be a good number/distance from the canon clans. i do like the idea of it being one post just so that it can constantly be updated.
i think having npcs works, and all you'd really need for them would be the book descriptions. i just don't want the clans to get too swamped with them tho?
i don't want you to get too overwhelmed if you only want to do the coding, but if you're up for the full layout i'm not going to stop you lol. i think the simple coding is really elegant and pretty! those color also work really well, so sure!
and yeah, only the brief descriptions would be posted on the main allegiances, not the full paragraph! OOOh, also rain i know in some of your rps you have a section for one negative, neutral, and positive trait on your joining form that i really dig. i was wondering if it was okay to use that for this rp?

You're good! I was going to get off for a little bit and play a game or two with my boyfriend.
Thanks, just wanted to be sure!
I agree, we can make a mutual limit for them. I think two to five would be okay depending on how many members or characters that Clans has.
Thanks! So you want the simple style coding or that specific coding? We don't have to use that specific coding unless you all want to. Doesn't matter to me at all. I just want to get started on them so I can put the information for you guys.
I'm totally cool with us using that. I think it might be better to use that than write out a personality? It takes me a while to write out a full-fledged personality.

yeah 2 to five works wonderfully!
i really dig both the style and that coding in general? so like, if you're chill reusing layouts i'm down with that, but if everyone else wants something different that's cool too.
hmm i'm not sure? cause like, it's a good idea and i get what you mean about writing out fully-fledged personality but i'm hesitant because joining forms are usually how i get my first impressions of people's rp style and if someone's going to need more help. idk, i'm fine if we want to put that up to a vote?

Just going to let everyone know, but the apprentice rule as of right now was going to be a 3:1 ratio. However, right now that doesn't line up with the clans we have (I know in tc we need at least 6 more warriors/elders/queens to have this ratio work out with the current number of apprentices). My plan was to just not add any more apprentice slots until that number evens out, but idk if you guys wanted to do that? We could alter the ratio, get rid of some apprentices, there are a lot of other solutions too.

What about everyone with a warrior can choose if they want an apprentice for each character, and those make the apprentice openings?
|
|
|
Post by lazy penguin on Jan 31, 2019 10:57:08 GMT -5
Hmm I'd be worried about having too many apprentices with that method. Because like, we don't want to have the same amount of apprentices as warriors cause that's just not really realistic? Unless, all the warriors die in like a battle or something.

i think limiting the number of apprentices is a good idea - especially because they add up very easily when everyone only has one warrior, ya know? honestly, this is just me, but i think everyone should be willing to take an apprentice for their warrior, because otherwise some people might never choose one, or someone else might ‘hog’ the apprentices, or apprentices might not get mentors because no one wants apprentice

|
Post by mimikyutie on Jan 31, 2019 10:59:51 GMT -5
I meant, like let's say a clan has 15 warriors, yet only nine have rpers that want their character to be a mentor, which would mean nine apprentice openings.

See the way I currently have tc set up everyone has one cat who's a mentor, to try and avoid people "hogging apprentices".
I feel like everyone is going to be fine with an apprentice tho? Like when I was organizing tc, I don't think there was any warrior where it was specifically stated that they didn't want an apprentice. But I don't want tc to have like 16 apprentices.

Another thing to consider is maybe limiting kits and litters and how many queens at a time that are actually pregnant. Give me a moment to expand, I'm about to go in my house.

Okay! So while we do need to lower apprentices when we open, we can maybe also lower them by birth as well. This can be another opportunity to use your chance charts. In each season, we can determine how many kits can or will survive to apprenticeship. We'll have different numbers and then roll for when a queen is about to kit. In the colder seasons or if a seasonis negatively impacted by weather, the rate of stillborn and kit deaths will rise. I hope I'm making sense. I'm still mobile until I get everything ready to get on my laptop. I know it sounds like management for kits and queens and it is, but it will also impact the number of apprentices. Instead of a set number of slots for apprentices, they can vary each season, as mates would probably want their kits to be born in warmer months so they survive and so on. I think we can also make reservations for kits born into the role-play and they have a claim to an apprentice spot before a brand new member joins with an apprentice.

That's actually a really good idea!!!

|
Post by lazy penguin on Jan 31, 2019 12:03:23 GMT -5
That works for me! I had kinda set up chance charts for births, but that was more geared toward the mother health than the number and health of the kits. Would you want to set it up as like a physical number getting chosen/randomized or something more vague? Idk I just want to hear your method for it cause I'm down for the idea!
EDIT** cause I forgot. My whole reasoning for having a ratio for apprentices also works with this. So like, kits->apprentices will still count toward the apprentice slots (But they can exceed the number as I expect litters to have more than one kit usually). But the ratio must make way for a slot if someone wants to just join as an apprentice. If that makes sense?

Let me see.. I think the max we should allow for a litter overall should be five or six. If we want even numbers, we can do six, then once they pass 40 moons, the max they can have and survive would be four, then about 80 moons would be two and maybe both surviving depending on the season. I think at 84 moons, queens can no longer have kits, but we can lower this. Depends on how old you want to have the average life of a Clan cat. I think 3-4 litters max per queen would be okay and having the youngest possible queen would be 20-21 moons, as any younger would be very young in my opinion despite some obvious things in the books, I did formerly have it to 18 moons, but a cat is pregnant for like two moons and that seemed really young for them to try that early. I think we could maybe only allow three expecting queens at a time. As soon as one kits and one moon has passed, then we can allow another she-cat to be expecting once more.
To determine the amount of kits for a younger mother, we can have tatsu pick between small, medium, and large. Small would be 1-2 kits, medium would be 3-4 kits, and large would be 5-6 kits. For a mother past 40 moons, we would only loose the large option. For 80 moons, the mother would lose the medium and large options. After that, we will have tatsu pick between the number given. So if I rolled a medium litter, I would have tatsu pick between 3 or 4.
That would be the basics and geared towards age. Let's look at seasons and plots that could endanger kits. Taking inspiration from your way of using the chance charts, we can cut down on the possibility of bigger litters and factor in a stillborn rate and/or a mortality rate for kits. I think for seasons, it could go like this: New Leaf - submit "small | medium | large" four times. Green Leaf - submit "small | medium | large" six times. Leaf-fall - submit "small | medium | large" eight times. Leafbare - submit "small | medium | large" ten times.
For the stillborn and mortality, we can have tatsu pick between the two in similar fashion, with maybe new leaf being excused if there is no major disease or weather occurrence that negatively impacts the Clan(s). If that is the case, stillborn and mortality will not be rolled but other seasons will not be impacted by the lack of new leaf not rolling. They will follow their litter size counterparts to match. However, we can add an additional two chances for each if the weather changes to a large storm that can cause serious damage and negatively impact Clan life or if a disease has set in. All Clan leaders would need to agree to this addition, otherwise it could be overused and possibly impact the population to a degree where in the narrative, they have to accept outsiders. That could be a plot idea in the future.
Now, while it is very unlikely, there is a slim chance that the three queens roll for large litters and get six kits each. This will cause an issue if they are relatively close in kitting at the same time. If this happens, then I think that the addition of two chances for the stillborn and mortality should be placed for all three litters no matter the weather and season. We can explain the deaths and future deaths as stress to the mother due to possible overcrowding and the mother not being able to produce enough milk because of the stress.
I will need to think about apprentices, as this can fix that issue that way, but people joining with apprentices is a major issue because they do fill up quickly. I would rather deny an apprentice character over forcing someone to make a warrior just to mentor that apprentice. I also think we shouldn't force some warriors to mentor cats because we want to please everyone that wants an apprentice. Some characters, like in the books, will never get an apprentice because they aren't suitable or they simply don't want one. It's a catch 22 and while having an apprentice is fun, it's only fun if you have someone willing to role-play a mentor for your cat. I also think that if we enforce some things regarding apprentices, people will think twice about making their apprentice. I'll make a separate post about that.

save for windclan garbage that i probably won't finish until friday lol
final/draft introductions: on page one- found in my first post. finally territory & camp write ups:
to be added. basically, windclan lives on the moor, their camp is a sandy ditch, warriors sleep in the open or in a den, they're currently sleeping in the tunnels underground bc of the weather.
- Camp ;; a sand dip/hollow in the middle of the moor where the clan makes its home. The outer edge is surrounded by gorse and heather to keep outsiders away and clear from the camp. A giant boulder resides in the center of the camp, with a hollowed out center (gorse drapes the entrance). This is called the Tallrock, where the leader makes his speeches and sleeps inside the den. A gorse bush against the rock is the nursery. In another boulder is the medicine cat's den, cracks and crevices line the inside where the medicine cat's store the herbs. The leader (occasionally), apprentices, warriors and the deputy sleep in the center underneath the sky. In bad weather, they retreat in burrows made by rabbits, foxes or badgers, or they retreat to the tunnels where they are currently camping out. There is also an old badger set where the elders sleep.
- Windclan territory is wide and opened for lengths after lengths. It has hills and grassy meadows, and many rabbits and hare holes. They seem more prone to badgers and foxes, as there is so much open space for them to sleep. The border of Windclan that is shared with Thunderclan is a long stream stretching from the lake to the Moonpool. The border of Windclan and Riverclan is not exactly existent, as the Horseplace blocks their borders from ever meeting. However, there is occasionally times where the cats hunt at the horseplace- only on desperate measures, though.
-- Moonpool Stream ; a stream that divides the territory of Windclan with Thunderclan and pools into the Moonpool. It's typically the stream that the Medicine cats follow when going to share with Starclan. It marks the northern border of Windclan. Since there's a stretch of territory untouched by Thunderclan besides the moonpool, Windclan hunts there as well.
-- The Sandy Hollow ; a large hollow outside of the camp where the apprentices typically train and learn battle moves and how to hunt for the first time. This is also occasionally used as a sunning place as a few flat boulders sit around the hollow. Elders usually sit and lay there to sun themselves.
-- Horseplace ; a horse farm that seperates Windclan and Riverclan. Occasionally the deputy will order a patrol to hunt here for some mice when prey is running low. This is also where Smoky and Floss live, and apprentices tend to sneak out to hear some stories from the two horseplace cats. Though, Windclan tends to stay away, as the Hooves of a horse are very dangerous to be under. Horseplace is Windclans Southern Border.
-- Lakeshore ; like all the clans, Windclan territory is against the lake shore. The cats, however, have not actually claimed this as territory, though they occasionally hunt here for water voles, but usually stick to the moor and hills for rabbits. The lakeshore is followed around to the gathering island, where the clans meet every full moon. This also marks the very western side of Windclans Border.
-- The Windy Woods ; while not currently a part of Windclan's territory, the Windy Woods was once in their territory. Thunderclan, however, currently has ownership of it. The cats of Windclan and Thunderclan often dispute over this patch of territory, just to add onto their own. However, Windclans suit isn't hunting in the forest, but hunting in the open sky.
-- Two Leg Bridge + Path ; the Twoleg bridge and path is rarely used during anytime but Green-Leaf, as the pair of two-legs and their occasional others, fish at the bridge and walk along the twoleg path. During this time, Windclan cats tend to stay away from it in order to prevent leading any humans to their home.
-- Burnt Ash Tree ; a burnt ash tree that was burned down before the clans moved to the lake. This is the landmark that marks the very edge of Windclans eastern border. They usually don't surpass this unless truly needed. A thunderpath lies a few ways behind it.
clan attributes and traditions: ahh tba. but i'm thinking of a courtship tradition??? and probably something that discusses their running and stuff - windclan cats are taller than the other clans, with slimmer bodies and typically long tails that help steer when running across the moor. they are also known for having shorter pelts (though thicker pelts aren't exactly unknown), and smaller paws in general. They usually look skinnier than they are based on the running they do. However, some cats have thicker pads to explore the tunnel system underground.
- Two possible mates enter the tunnels from opposite sides of the territory and try to find each other through the darkness and muddy scents. The two are to either meet in the middle or find each other through another tunnel. If a cat is terrified, and run out, it proves to the other that it wasn't meant to be. But if they find each other through the darkness, they must find a different way out together from where they came in. - an alternate way of courtship would be for the cats to find a pebble somewhere in the tunnels and give it as a gift to the other. - another alternate courtship way is to make flower crowns for the other, or even add stuff to the others nest, such as tufts of rabbit fur, fresh moss, and feathers, and possibly even soft heather and wheat stalks.
- All apprentices are taught for a moon how to navigate, fight and hunt in the tunnels. While they aren't required to do this as warriors, they are required to learn in case it is needed in the future.
- Apprentices typically participate in races a few days before they receive their warrior name. The route consists of starting from the far end of the thunderclan border (by the stream) and running all the way to the riverclan border (where their mentors and the leader and deputy will be waiting for them.)
- the whole clan typically participates in running and largest rabbit hunting competitions for fun. Sometimes the medicine cats partake. The leader either sits out or partakes.
clan lineage:
- Harestar - Sedgestar - Gorsestar - Aspenstar
- Shadestar
Current: Featherstar
Harestar was the leader that came after a reign of keeping to themselves. This tom brought Windclan back out and allied with Thunderclan for the many moons he served. Most of his lives were lost to sickness, as battles in his time didn't seem to be all that big. He had three known deputies. Crowfeather, who later retired due to old age and later died of heat exhaustion, Breezepelt, who later on passed away from drowning in the lake while battling a patrol of Riverclan warriors, and lastly, and his successor, Sedgewhisker. Harestar was down to his last two lives once he appointed Sedgewhisker deputy. The molly reigned as his deputy until Harestar lost his last life in a long fight against cancer that developed in his late leadership. Kestrelflight continued as the single medicine cat, but right before Harestar passed, he took in a young loner that took an interest in medicine and herbs, her name being Amberpaw.
After Harestar's reign, Sedgestar had much to live up to. She led Windclan to victory in a long two day battle with a group of rogues that tried to take over their camp. She lost her first five lives in scrimmages against Thunderclan at the border. Their alliance broke off in her reign. Sedgestar had four notable deputies in her time. Her first deputy was her old mentor Dewspots, who seemingly disappeared shortly after being appointed. Heathertail was her second deputy who served longest of all four. She later retired due to old age. At this time, Sedgestar had lost two more lives to greencough and exhaustion. Her third deputy was Smokehaze. Smokehaze died in a battle against Thunderclan. Her last deputy, who reigned until Sedgestar died, was Gorsespeckle. Kestrelflight passed away during Sedgestars last four lives, leaving the Windclan Medicne Cat to be Ambersplash.
Sedgestar left a legacy to follow that Gorsespeckle barely achieved. Now Gorsestar, she was mainly known for being shy and letting the other clans walk all over her. She wasn't really noted to do anything huge except for take in kittypets and loners. She also took in many half-clan cats, leaving the Windclan genes kind of sporadic within the clan, since a little less than half seemed to be mixed blood. Gorsestar had two notable deputies. Her first deputy was Applesplash, who died after falling off the gorge in a Riverclan border scrimmage, and Aspenfall, who later became leader after Gorsestar lost her final life to a dog pack that had run on the territory. Ambersplash took an apprentice in Batpaw, later named (still in Gorsestar's reign) Batfrost. Ambersplash died shortly after Gorsestar did.
Aspenstar is notable for the fact that she brought the clan back out from the dirt. She only had one deputy and that was Shadeclaw. Aspenstar brought back tunneling, though in a different way. Windclan now teaches fighting and hunting underground in the tunnels when it's winter time. Aspenstar lost most of her lives to sickness. Her second to last was lost to smoke, and a fire. She was weakened to the point of not leaving her den, leaving the clan under the guidance of Shadeclaw, who seemed to rule as if he were leader already. News got around about Aspenstar's mixed blood of half shadowclan, half windclan and this angered Shadeclaw. No cat knew until he died that Shadeclaw poisoned a piece of rabbit with death berries and fed it to Aspenstar, in hopes she'd die quickly so he can claim his time as leader. She lost her last life to that poisoned rabbit. Batfrost had taken in an apprentice shortly before he succumbed to his asthma. His apprentice was ?paw. (current medicine cat, old)
After Aspenstar's death, Shadestar was quick to claim his leadership over Windclan. Many followed him, but others knew his despise over half-clan cats. With some in the clan already, they were exiled under his leadership, though taken in by Fernstar of Thunderclan until Shadestar's terrible reign was over. Shadestar had many deputies, five to be exact. His first was Webwhisker, a sickly tom that ended up being halfclan. He was exiled quickly after being appointed. The next three were Frecklesplash, Ashengorse, and Foxstride. They were all either killed or exiled out of the clan. (They later died, hence why you cannot find them in the allegiance. His fifth and last deputy was the young Featherpool. She was, originally, however, the apprentice of ?, the current medicine cat. She had to become a warrior due to Starclan'ss wishes so Slatepaw took her place after his accident. Shadestar tried starting a war with the other clans, even if Windclan was against it, but since the warrior code said the leaders word is law, they had to follow. Coming face to face with the other clan leaders, he wanted them to exile half-clans as well, but no one agreed, as it wasn't worth losing warriors over. Falconstar was the one to step foreword, leading to Shadestar attacking him. Shadestar took Falconstar's second to last life before the other tom killed him in return. However, despite having all nine lives, Shadestar was forbidden to return to his leadership by starclan and sent to the dark forest for his treacherous ways. That was the end of the dark time in Windclan.
Featherstar is the current leader of Windclan. After the previous time with Shadestar's reign, many were brought back to the clan after being exiled and welcomed back with open paws. She's still an extremely young leader and still working to help Windclan recover from it's past. She led the clan into the tunnels to get away from the scorching heat. Her current deputy is ?. The medicine cats are ? and Slatepetal.
individual clan plots:
• featherstar has slate's kits and no one knows he's the father- their kits don't even know that slate is their father. • the clan splits in two, half of the clan continues to live on the scorching hot moor saying it's "unnatural to live underground" while featherstar keeps the other half of the clan underground in the tunnels, safe from the blazing sun.
IN DEPTH PLOTS:
- a clan split in two | whole clan plot | active After the decision to go underground to wait out the drought, featherstar realizes that half of her warriors are okay being under in the tunnels, cool and alive, while the other half is antsy and scared to be underground. After discussing the tensions within windclan with her deputy, Featherstar decides to let the half of the clan go and live up on the moor still, offering that if they ever get way to hot then they're more than welcome to return to the main cave they have made their home in. The deputy is sent with them as well, and the medicine cats shift between looking over those underground, and those above. Will this split cause a rebellion and conflict? Or will everything turn out okay when the drought is over?
- surprise litter | leader & meddie apprentice plot | semi-active featherstar ends up pregnant with a surprise litter. While no one knows who the father is, Featherstar sure does know. Suspiciously when they are born, the kits look half like featherstar, while the other half looks like the one and only medicine cat apprentice, Slatepetal. While no one has put their paw on it, what will happen when the kits get older and want to find out who their father is?

Post by ʙᴜᴍʙʟᴇʙᴇᴇ » on Feb 5, 2019 15:38:33 GMT -5
shadowclan stuff to work on
intro draft / final intro - working on this
territory & camp write up - - camp is a large tangle of brambles, surrounded by trees. entrance is a tunnel of thorns and brambles, blocked partially by a boulder. dens are bramble thickets - nursery, then then apprentices, then warriors, then leader, then elders. medicine den is in the far corner - a sandy floor covered in pine needles; breaks in the thickets let them see the sky. hazel branch above leader's den serves as clan-addressing area. - landmarks - twoleg nest, twoleg path, greenleaf twolegplace, marsh pool, herring grove, lovers' climb
clan attributes/traditions - - cunning / clever / fierce / proud / independent - typically dark shades/colors, solid or tabby patterns usually, light on their feet, lithe, quiet, strong, good climbers, any fur length - courtship tradition: cat a climbs the tallest tree in the territory and picks a pine needle, then leaves it in the nest of who they wish to court - apprentice tradition: apprentices have competitions to see who can sneak out without being caught, and who can stay out of camp at night the longest without getting scared - apprentices spend at least half a moon learning how to fight at night/in pitch black to be ready for anything - before a warrior ceremony, an apprentice must spend an entire day in the forest on their own, hunting for themselves and avoiding being 'found' be the shadowclan warriors - naming: leader typically consults with parents and mentor before choosing a name for an apprentice, unless something extreme happens that calls for an obvious name
clan lineage - - tigerstar - flamestar - russetstar - pinestar - falconstar
Tigerstar - • four known deputies: tawnypelt( stepped down ), then juniperclaw( demoted for poisoning skyclan ), cloverfoot( died somehow ), then flamerush • reunited shadowclan • first cat to be resurrected by starclan • lost last life to greencough
Flamestar - • two known deputies: sedgewind( died after falling out of a tree ), and then russetheart • brokered peace with Skyclan • developed new tree hunting techniques • lost last life to a territory battle with riverclan
Russetstar - • two known deputies: tawnystep( died from wound infection ), and then pinerustle • known for being respectable and kind • had three litters as a leader, and still maintained a strong hold • lost last life to old age
Pinestar - • one known deputy: falconsight • despised kittypets, known for refusing to shelter or take care of them • taught apprentices stubbornness and determination that made them better warriors • lost last life to a wound infection after refusing treatment
Falconstar - • two known deputies: darkwind( died of old age ), and currently briarspots • a pacifist, prefers to settle disagreements with words • lost second to last life killing shadestar, former leader of windclan and all around bad guy • currently on his last life
individual clan plots - • sickness kills falconstar, briarspots can't receive her lives because moonpool is dried up • cats fighting over deputy position • half-clan kits finding out they have a father in skyclan • sickness after flooding kills off herbs • more??

thunderclan collection//
territroy/landmarks/camp current wip
To the northeast, large deciduous woodlands decorate the landscape creating a sanctuary for the cats of the undergrowth. While trees like oaks, maples, and beeches dominate, the forests of ThunderClan are more well known for their thick paths of brush than their towering counterparts. Brambles coil around thick tree trunks, patches of ferns cast shadows on tall rock formations, and cats hide behind walls of bracken waiting for someone to dare cross their borders. The SkyClan border is formed by the old Thunderpath and traces north to the Abandoned Twoleg Nest . The WindClan border is marked by the edge of the forest, although the patch of forest across the small stream is often a target of WindClan attacks. There are many notable landmarks scattered across the territory including:
× The Ancient Oak (sometimes referred to as the Sky Oak) is the largest tree in the ThunderClan forests. The old tree has long, tightly woven branches, and is relatively close to the lakefront. In Greenleaf, fresh acorns scatter the exposed roots below, making this a prime location for prey. Because of its height and long branches, ThunderClan cats often practice their tree-climbing skills here. However, apprentices under the age of 8 moons are forbidden from ascending since dead branches can snap off at dangerous heights and a cat can get seriously injured from such drops. × The Mossy Hollow is a small, sheltered clearing not far from ThunderClan camp that is used to train apprentices. Around the edges of the hollow small tree saplings sprout from the ground, providing good targets for practice. The forest floor here is strangely flat with no roots or fallen leaves on the ground for a young cat to trip over.
× Once a location of a deadly battle, the Scarlet Hollow sits close to the SkyClan border. While most of the forest is made up of oaks and maples, in the center of the hollow, two large aspen trees stand, their branches interlocking. Many twigs and branches scatter across the forest floor making the hollow a prime location for mice and voles.
× The Windy Woods- while currently a part of ThunderClan's territory, they were once in located across the border in WindClan. The cats of Windclan and Thunderclan often dispute over this patch of territory, just to add onto their own.
× To the north and next to the SkyClan border, The Abandoned Twolegged Nest crumbles more and more each day. Hidden among rotting boards and untamed grasses, small prey like voles and mice hide. However, the abandoned nest is also a common perch for birds- even dangerous ones like hawks and owls. During the night, bats roost in its upper levels, and fireflies breathe light into the darkness. Once a common hideaway for forbidden lovers, the Twolegged Nest is now a valuable location for the clan, both because of its prey-rich landscape and its success for growing rare herbs such as catmint and parsley.
× The ThunderClan Camp is located in an abandoned quarry, in the center of the territory. The stone hollow is enclosed by steep cliffs on either side, and a fall from the top of the cliffs into camp can be deadly. The main entrance is a large bramble tunnel, however there is also a secret exit that can be reached by climbing up the rocks behind the medicine cat den. In the back of the camp a large cut stone- the Highledge, is used by the leader to call clan meetings. Hidden near the top, a small hole in the stone forms the leader’s den. Many moons ago a large beech tree fell into camp, causing the dens to be moved to accommodate it. However, since the tree has long rotten away, the dens have been reshaped around the tunnels and cuts in the stone walls. The exceptions to this are the elder’s den, shaped out of an ancient hazel bush, and the nursery which has been created from a large bramble patch. Outside of the elder’s den a smooth boulder nicknamed the highrock is used by the clan for sunbathing and sharing tongues.
introduction
"The scent leads this way."
You lower yourself deeper into the underbrush as unfamiliar voices pierce through the forest. You inhale softly, trying to slow your heartbeat- trying to stay calm. You don't know why you're so nervous. Two sunrises ago you'd been approached by five strangers, each speaking of cats in the stars and so-called "clans". It had taken you a few minutes to realize they were asking you to join them. Which was ridiculous. You were never one for large groups, and they were asking you to settle down, to leave your nomadic freedom in the dust.
And yet, when they had offered, you agreed to indulge them. They would make their best pitch, and you'd make a choice. You'd known from the moment you agreed that your life was about to change.
But there you stood, half-hidden under a fern, doubting all your life choices.
The bushes nearby rattle with movement, and you hear the voices again.
"We're not here for a fight. Especially not with someone who might not be aware of our borders."
"But how could you miss them. I me-""Hush now. The trail here is fresh." You hold your breath as two cats step out from the undergrowth, heading straight towards you. The first one, [brief cat description here], takes a few hesitant steps, his/her/their nose tracing the forest floor. The second cat follows close behind, her dark grey pelt a mess of tabby stripes and scars. Nervous energy crackles along your spine. If you don't make your presence known, there will be a lot more explaining if they discover you. But if they don't find you... Your tail twitches. Your ear flicks. The two keep getting closer. Making up your mind, you stumble out of the fern, hissing as your paw catches on a root. Before you can explain yourself, however, a heavy weight slams into you, knocking you to the ground. "Who are you?! What are you doing on ThunderClan territory? Did Skyclan send you?!" You blink, your mind trying to process everything that is happening. The tabby she-cat was starring daggers at you, her paws pinning you to the ground. "Uh- I, well you see...""Peace Tangleclaw." You flinch as another voice cuts through the forest, and a huge golden tabby tom emerges from a bramble patch directly behind the ferns where you were hiding. Has he been watching me this whole time? you wonder. How did I not notice?
"Goldenstar."
You immediately feel the weight release from your chest as the cat- Tangleclaw, steps backwards. "You two can head back to camp, this cat is a guest." The tom rests his tail on your shoulder, a friendly smile on his face. "Of course. I- we weren't aware." [Warrior description] states dipping his/her/their head in respect. As the two cats retreat into the forest, Goldenstar turns his attention to you. "I apologize for the rude introduction, not all of our warriors were informed of your audience today" You his, still in a state of shock. "Welcome to ThunderClan, the clan of honor and courage." |
clan traditions /attributes
The true heart of the forest, ThunderClan values courage and honor above all else. Nicknamed the clan of heroes, ThunderClan has been known to poke its head into every other clans’ issues, while ignoring the flaws in their own. However, in more recent years the clan has taken on a more isolationist approach, their morals switching from bravery and chivalry to loyalty to one’s clan above all else The major talent of the clan is their ability to silently stalk through the undergrowth, avoiding branches and brambles with ease. Because of this, most Thunderclanners feel too exposed when not surrounded by underbrush, and have trouble seeing how the cats of WindClan and RiverClan can enjoy always being in the open. ThunderClan cats are also trained in climbing skills, and for a while used aerial tree fighting in its battle tactics. However, when SkyClan moved next to them, these methods soon became ineffective and obsolete.
ThunderClan cats are typically large and muscular, their thick fur there to protect them from snagging brambles and branches. Their coats are typically lighter browns and greys, and tabby markings are very common. Slightly more uncommon are ginger pelted cats, who like to believe they are descendants from the brave warriors of the past.
ThunderClan has gained many unique traditions over the years including the following:
x It’s all in the name. When kits are born in the clan, they are not named instantly. In ThunderClan, a cat’s name is a sacred thing. The parents might take upwards to a week trying to discover the perfect title for their children. If a kit is named after a warrior whether alive or in StarClan, it is believed and expected that the older cat take care of the kit and watch over them. When a cat become a warrior, the leader chooses a suffix that exemplifies a cat’s talents and personality. It is believed then, that the worst thing that can happen to a cat is to be given a hateful or wicked name/suffix, and before their to warrior ceremonies many apprentices fret over what name they will be gifted.
x What it means to be a warrior. Before an apprentice becomes a warrior they must prepare for it the entire day. After passing all of their assessments, an apprentice will be told what day their ceremony will be held. On that day, the apprentice is not allowed to eat or drink anything from dawn until sunset. The night before, they are expected to go the the medicine cat and are given traveling herbs to help hold off the hunger of the day. Then, after receiving their warrior name they must hold a silent vigil and look after the clan during all hours of the night. If they pass both of these obstacles, their previous mentors will help them move their nests into the warrior den. If they fail one of them, their name is revoked and they must try again at a later date.
x Honor bound. When a cat chooses to retire, they first notify the clan leader and the medicine cat at least two days before a ceremony is held. During the ceremony, the clan usually prepares a feast and stories are told from sunset to sunrise about the life of the retiring warrior and the impact they’ve had on others’ lives.
x A little competition does no harm. At the start of Greenleaf, the cats of ThunderClan have a day of celebration and competition. During the day certain challenges are set up, whether it be races through the undergrowth, tree climbing competitions, or mock battles. The winners of these competitions get first pick at the fresh-kill pile, and the winner of the most competitions earns the next day off. They aren’t assigned to any patrols, and are allowed to do whatever they please.
x Moonpool certified. During a cats apprenticeship, not only must they complete harrowing assessments and rigorous training, but they are required to visit the Moonpool at least once. While some apprentices have dreams of lost loved ones, others simply have normal dreams of hunting mice and basking in sunlight. However, it is taboo for an apprentice to talk about what they dream of with others.
clan lineage
Bramblestar was the successor of a grand and legendary leader and often fell in the shadow's of other's achievements. His struggles in leadership often made ThunderClan falter during the trying times that he lead through. While his self-doubt and lack of spine are a shameful reminder of ThunderClan's weak and pacifist history, Bramblestar is most known for his addition to the warrior code which stated that the clans must work together during times of trouble. While Bramblestar was not well known for his battles, he had three deputies under his leadership: Squirrelflight who retired afters a bad injury, Ivypool who died of greencough in a trying leaf-bare, and Eagletuft his successor. He had three medicine cats who served when he presided over ThunderClan, Leafpool, Jayfeather, and Alderheart.
After Bramblestar lost his last life in a border skirmish with SkyClan, his deputy Eagletuft became the next leader. Eaglestar is perhaps best known for pacifism and nobility. Similar her previous leader she refused to instigate battles and always believed that the clans should discuss their problems instead of fight over them. However, unlike Bramblestar, Eaglestar's methods resulted in a stronger ThunderClan. She was able to isolate her clan and their problems from the others, instead focusing on the internal struggles that had infected and destroyed previous generations. Because of her pacifist nature Eaglestar only had two deputies, Bristlestep who died tragically in a mudslide, and Willowfang. It was during her leadership that Jayfeather passed away and Alderheart began to mentor his first apprentice, Frostpaw.
Eaglestar lost her last life in a rather ugly and rare battle with WindClan, making her sucessor Willowfang bitter and hostile to his mother's murderer. Willowstar did not share his ancestors' noble pacifism. Instead he believed that ThunderClan was the only clan who had the morals to decide what was wrong or right. He constantly meddled in other clan's affairs, and boasted whenever his clan had new warriors or took new territory. It is then ironic, that the end of Willowstar's brief leadership was met by a brutal wave of greencough which took the lives of many cats including his medicine cat Alderheart. In the end, Willowstar died in battle after a very short and bloody leadership. His only deputy, Jaggedpelt took over the clan after his death.
Jaggedstar knew very well that Willowstar's bloodlust and quests for ThunderClan glory only torn her clan apart. While she tried to keep her clan composed and together, infighting and turmoil seemed to run rampant in the forest. She was often seen traveling to the moonpool with Frostflower and his apprentice Sorrelskip, hoping that StarClan would do something to fix her clan. After her third deputy died in a border skirmish- she was pushed to her breaking point. Jaggedstar exiled any cat who refused to help needy clanmates because of petty feuds and assigned a permanent queen named Fallenfrost the task of advising clanmates when fights and tensions began to rise. While her banishments remained controversial, ThunderClan began to recover from their inner turmoil. Jaggedstar had five deputies during her leadership, Honeycloud, Gingerstorm, Lilacstep, Lichentail, and Fernheart.
When Jaggedstar died of an infected wound, her young an inexperienced deputy, Fernheart took over. Fernstar knew from the start that his leadership would be a difficult one- and when his medicine cat, Frostflower died just two days after he recieved his nine lives, the young leader became paranoid that he was doomed. Because of this, Fernstar's early days were his most shameful, as his lack of spine made ThunderClan loose territory along the (Sky or Wind)Clan border. However, as he matured Fernstar became more and more confident, eventually adopting the motto "I will do whatever is best for my clan". He would take territory if his clan was going hungry, go into battle if another clan threatened ThunderClan, or remain peaceful if his clan was thriving. When his first deputy, Yewberry, retired to the elder's den, he chose his nephew, Goldenfern as his second. [insert sentence about a medicine cat apprentice if current meddie cat is older!]
Fernstar died after a long life, leaving the leadership to Goldenfern. Goldenfern began his leadership with confidence, and continued his predecessor's tradition of focusing solely on his clan. However, when his mate and deputy Quietdawn died in a badger fight, he became much more of an isolationist. Now with his son Breezewhisker as his deputy, Goldenstar seems more determined to protect his clan than ever before.
single clan plots
- ThunderClan is burning. The drought has lasted for weeks, turning what was once a rich and fruitful landscape into a dry and cracked desert. With the arid temperatures, the forest are prime for fires. A little over a week ago a blaze almost scorched the Abandoned Twolegged Nest, and cats have been banned from traveling north toward the burn zone. However as fires spread, prey becomes scarcer and scarcer, forcing the clan to stoop to new lows for food. Goldenstar has begun sending out night patrol to cross over into SkyClan and WindClan territory, desperate to keep his clan fed.

hey graygoyle we're actually really close to opening, so there's not a lot of mechanical things you can help with, but we'd be open to plot ideas and anything you could contribute! if you want to work out character relations, we can do that too, you might also want to check out the discord linked above since we've been organizing stuff over there!

[ crowpaw ] - [ 7 moons ] - [ ʀᴀɪɴʟᴇᴀғ 🍁 ] a small, fluffy black she-cat with vivid amber eyes and small paws c r o w p a w | 7 m o o n s [ immature & playful & optimistic ] Small and with a pelt as dark as night, Crowpaw blends into the shadows of the dark. Her vivid amber eyes gleam in the glow of moonlight. Her triangular shaped head is detailed with fluffy cheeks and medium sized ears. Her long pelt, often covered in dust and pine needles from her little adventures in the forest, is soft and makes her look only slightly bigger. She has small and nimble paws, allowing her to stalk without worrying about the scattered twigs and leaves giving away her position. At a young age, her mother and father broke off their relationship which caused a ripple effect on the young she-cat. Her mother began to ignore her based on the black she-cat's desire for attention and her resemblance to her father. Her relationship with her father was better, but he never had proper time due to being a senior warrior and having to lead patrols, speak with the leader, and training apprentices. He was a candidate for deputy in the future and Crowpaw wanted to follow his footsteps. Her ambition only grew when he was found on the border with RiverClan, slain in what was seen as cold-blood. She can still remember how his face was twisted into a snarl and that only drove her to become deputy in his place. Of course, her mother didn't appreciate such thinking, and tried to discourage her, driving the she-cat to act irrationally in attempts to be seen as heroic. Her mother got her way for now, as Crowpaw's impulse to do it better without much patience has painted her to be an immature and arrogant apprentice. ʀᴀɪɴʟᴇᴀғ 🍁
If we want to use premade icons, I have some ready to go for very generic appearances. I prefer those over stock art because then we'd have to resize and help find ones that actually fit.
