Blazingheart --- in camp with Sparkly ' s Oakfur The she-cat was tempted to agree with the tom, if not just to simply things and make sure she didn't answer 'wrong'. There was a part of her that did love the promises of Greenleaf, a warm earth and full belly. It was nice to think about but not her favorite if she was being honest. The guilt of lying won over her need to please. She looked over at the tom. "I like Leaf-fall." She said simply. She considered ending her words there but she felt bad for not explaining herself more. "The leaves are pretty and it's cool but not cold. Sometimes it's a bit hot in Greenleaf, especially after hunting." She voiced before thinking she might have criticized Greenleaf. Quickly, she spoke again, "But Greenleaf is good too. Uhm, everyone is fed and there are always kits in the nursery. The warmth can also be nice too." She nodded at the end. Nice recovery, she silently praised herself.

[ you're good Fallen! i totally get it. and nothing major has gone on quite yet, but as zero said Spotted and Osprey are about to run into some coyotes, so Lichen and Tawny are more than welcome to join them! ]
[ Spottedfire ] β» [ The Lake ] β» [ with zero 's Ospreystorm ]
[ yep, that's the idea! ] Spottedfire's coat bristled visibly. Agitation seemed to itch at each individual fur along her back. The she-cat was not one to be told what to do, even from a senior warrior such as Ospreystorm. Not entirely foolish or lacking in respect for Ospreystom, Spottedfire did a small part in controlling herself, setting her jaw to bite back a hiss or snappy retort., the she-cat didn't reply. She stole a glance over her shoulder at the grey and white warrior, amber eyes flashing ever so slightly when she saw the she-cat standing in place a few tail-lengths behind. Not stowing or stopping her pace, Spottedfire continued forward, shoulders squared and head lowered between them, her body language screaming determination.
"I'm not making any promises." She finally replied, not turning around to do so. If Ospreystorm wants to treat me like a helpless kit, so be it. I can take care of myself. Starclan forbid I run away to cry to my father while predators steal our prey and threaten the clan...
-
[ Redpatch (Grizzlystar mentioned) ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with Sparkly 's Snowheart ]
"Uh, yeah, maybe..." Redpatch replied hesitantly, twitching his whiskers at Snowheart's words, thinking on the idea for only a heartbeat, unsure about how he felt about a perspective hunt. The tom was, admittedly, freezing, and although his belly rumbled, like most of the clans lately, he wondered if going out to hunt would really be worth freezing his paws off. A small voice in his head doubted he'd come back with anything, anyway...
However, Redpatch snapped out of his absorbing thoughts very quickly when he saw Grizzlystar approaching him and Snowheart, sitting a little straighter and clearing his throat a bit nervously. Redpatch found the tom a bit... offputting. The leader dipped his head to the pair in turn. "Redpatch, Snowheart," He murmured to each of them in greeting, looking both of the warriors up and down. "Going hunting, were we?"
-
[ Twistedfoot ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with Fallen Stars Cloudygaze (Feateherpaw mentioned) ]
Twistedfoot wasn't entirely sure if he believed in the elder's optimistic words. He pondered on them for a second, wondering if the tom was trying to convince himself more than anything else by thinking out loud as he was. Cloudygaze was right about one thing-it has been particularly rough as of late. "We will see." Is all the white warrior had to say in response, curt in dialogue again, almost having to force himself to speak out loud to Cloudygaze. His normal contribution to any conversation was merely a head nod or a shrug, which would hardly suffice with Cloudygaze's failing sight. Twistedfoot was putting forth his best effort in communication, although his best wasn't good by any measure.
He followed Cloudygaze's tabby form from the elder's den, rear leg once again tucked tightly against his chest to avoid bumping it against the stone walls. Twistedfoot noted the tones in Cloudygaze's voice, not necessarily understanding what the tom could find so amusing about what may be going on around camp. Twistedfoot found it solemn and harrowing around, especially in this season, but that was likely the tom's own attitude and not a reflection of the clan's. As he exited the den, he caught sight of his apprentice, Featherpaw, and Flamepaw tussling by the cave entrance. A frown wove its way across his face and his whiskers gave an indicative twitch of displeasure. Young as he still was, he didn't like seeing his apprentice act so childishly, especially in the middle of camp where everyone could plainly see her up to her antics.
[ Flamepaw ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with Fallen Stars Featherpaw ]
Flampaw had let out a little triumphant yell as she bowled the other apprentice over, the two she-cat's a blur of silver and red tabby stripes for a moment as they rolled with one another. Flamepaw shrugged at Featherpaw's assessment of her speed as she stood above her, sticking her tongue out at the pinned apprentice. "Guess so. I can probably show ya faster," she teased.
As Featherpaw began to squirm below her, and landing a swat against the ginger's head, Flamepaw rolled sideways off of the other apprentice as Featherpaw escaped from beneath her. She rolled smoothly back onto her paws, tail lashing behind her and a smirk on her face. "Looks like you are a little snake. I'm sooo defeated." She mused, lowering herself to the ground as she stalked Featherpaw in a circle.

[ Grizzlystar ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with Sparkly 's Snowheart ]
"Yes, of course..." The leader mused, the fluffy tabby tail swaying behind him giving a twitch. "However, "weakened" is not the phrase I would use, Snowheart." He pointed out, yellow eyes narrowing ever so slightly. After all, his daughter was one of those "weakened" cats, Verglaswhistle being a queen in the nursery, heavy with kits. The tabby glanced quickly around the clearing turning his narrowed gaze away from Snowheart and surveying the rest of the cats mulling about the cave. "Take your apprentice with you" He instructed, turning his attention back to Snowheart. "And more warriors. I don't want patrols as small as pairs leaving camp in these conditions, especially not without informing anyone beforehand."

[ Grizzlystar ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with Sparkly 's Snowheart ]
The leader's whiskers twitched ever so slightly upon hearing that Lichenfur and Tawnypaw had left camp alone, but if he was irritated by this news he said nothing to indicate it. He merely dipped his tabby head to the white warrior. "Thank you, Snowheart. That's greatly appreciated." Grizzlystar responded, turning to dismiss himself yet pausing after he had walked a few tail-lengths forward. Looking back over his shoulder, he added, "If any of you come back with empty jaws, then do not think to come back at all."

[ Redpatch (Grizzlystar mentioned) ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with Sparkly 's Snowheart ]
"Geez..." Redpatch muttered under his breath as Grizzlystar padded away, glancing over at Snowheart out of the corner of his eyes. He got to his feet and shook out his coat, lifting up each of his paws individually to give them a break from the cold stone floor. "I don't know how much more of this seriousness I can take. I know Leafbare can be tough, but dang." Redpatch thought out loud with a small frown. He wanted to help his clan survive the season, he really did, but he sure thought that was possible with some optimism. Everyone could do with a heavy dose of positivity in Redpath's eyes.

[ Redpatch ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with Sparkly 's Snowheart ]
The warrior looked down at his paws, feeling a bit foolish. Snowheart did have a point and the tom hoped that he hadn't upset her. "You do have a point..." He murmured softly, stealing a sheepish glance up at the she-cat's face. "I'm sorry. You're right. Let's get this patrol together then, shall we?" Redpatch asked, waiting for Snowheart's approval. The tom was now eager to do something else that would break up the awkwardness he was feeling in this moment.

Blazingheart -- in camp with Sparkly 's Oakfur The she-cat's tail puffed slightly as she stared at Oakfur with big eyes. She was completely caught off guard and completely flustered. She didn't know she had been so easy to read. Really, she enjoyed the tom's company and he seemed nice, but she wasn't sure how to explain herself. She didn't want him thinking she didn't like his company or something. He said he wouldn't judge but she didn't know if he was trying to be nice. "Sorry, I'm fine." She quickly explained, "Just a bit tired. It's been a long day." She shifted a bit, feeling a bit guilty. Ospreystorm -- patrolling with πππ₯ 's Spottedfire Ospreystorm's tail snapped back and forth as the younger warrior stalked away. She considered saying something or even leaving but she knew it would do no good. Spottedfire wasn't the type to back down easily. Aggravating her would likely cause the younger warrior to run off or for the older warrior to get a headache. Neither of which was helpful. A plume of white escaped the older warrior's mouth when she sighed and stood up. At least she knew determined cats would replace her when she went to StarClan. The thought did smooth her ruffled pelt a bit. She swiftly caught up to Spottedfire, not sparing the she-cat a glance as she took the lead. With her ears pressed against her head and tall steps, she was making it through the snow and wind. She would glanced at Spottedfire to make sure she was still continuing to blaze onwards. One glance back made her slow to a stop. She stood as upright as possible with her eyes fixed on the horizon. Nothing. Her tail tip twitched as her ears instinctively perked up. There wasn't a sound to be heard but the howling of the wind and the creaking of the trees. Nothing dangerous. But Ospreystorm wouldn't move. She knew she saw something. She flicked her tail towards the direction, hoping more eyes would catch the movement again. (So Lichen and Tawny could be what she sees or it could be the coyotes. Or it could be nothing if we aren't ready. + Is anyone going to get hurt on the patrol? It seems realistic if someone would but idk if you already had a plan. )

[ maybe the two see both? say they're at a crest above the lake and see the coyotes not too far off from Lichenfur and Tawnypaw and go to warn them and help? i don't have much in mind as far as injuries go. i imagine Spotted will end up a little roughed up and other injuries are definitely possible, but i'm not thinking anything too serious quite yet. coyotes also hunt alone or in pairs, so let's say there's two? ]
[ Spottedfire ] β» [ The Lake ] β» [ with zero 's Ospreystorm and Sparkly 's Tawnypaw (mentioned) ]
Spottedfire said nothing as Ospreystorm took the lead, her allowing the warrior to do so a small gesture reminiscent of apology from the younger cat. She trudged through the snow behind her, following the she-cat's grey and white form. When Ospreystorm stopped, Spottedfire slowed her pace and halted herself when she was beside the she-cat, picking up on her suddenly alert body language. Her amber eyes followed the direction in which Ospreystom's tail indicated, narrowing her gaze against the wind and harshness of the light. She glanced back at Ospreystorm inquisitively for a heartbeat without saying anything, then turned her attention back to the area of attention. It was then that Spottedfire picked up traces of movement against the snow and a flash of brown-Tawnypaw's tabby coat. "Just an apprentice...?" She questioned out loud, voice hushed, not taking her eyes from the figure she made out in case she lost sight of it again.
[ Redpatch ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with Sparkly 's Snowheart ]
Redpatch nodded in response to Snowheart, looking in turn around the camp to identify any warriors that could accompany them out on patrol. "Let's see..." Redpatch mused, clicking his tongue as he thought. Where is everybody? He wondered. The tom thought for sure there would be more cats around, considering the recent harshness of the territory was and how tight Grizzlystar was trying to get on patrols. "Maybe we should just get Skypaw and go...?" He suggested. (I didn't realize how few people have been active lately, shoot. Dx They can just go lmao. If anyone gets on soon they can join in.)

- - Lichenfur & Tawnypaw // Lake (heading towards Spottedfire & Ospreystorm) - -
The pale she-cat nodded her head in approval. Just as I thought, she mused. She hadn't caught much of anything either besides the stray hare Tawnypaw mentioned. "There is not much around here with this storm." Lichenfur said in acknowledgement. She gave a wave of her tail. "Let's move forward and see if we can try to find where that hare is." The warrior stated as she padded onward. As they walked, Lichenfur began to notice the scent grow fainter with the wind. Much to her dismay, the hare they thought they had most likely went elsewhere. Before she could ponder more she caught movement from the corner of her eye. Her green eyes flickered as she paused and turned her head towards that direction. She could make out two small figures walking along not too far from the lake. A flicker of relief sparked through her. Lichenfur knew they were fellow Clanmates. Who they were was something she couldn't distinguish just yet. Nonetheless, it gave her an opportunity to find out if they happened to catch scent of any prey around. "Change of plans with finding that hare," she stated. "I see two other cats. We'll join them and find out if they had any luck with prey." She then began to quicken her pace towards them, though only slightly so Tawnypaw wouldn't have trouble catching up.
- - Cloudygaze & Twistedfoot // Camp - -
Once outside of the elder's den, Cloudygaze began to analyze his surroundings. He saw shapes and colors of a few cats within the camp. What caught his eye however was a flash of white and ginger tumbling around. Judging from the voices, he knew it was the two apprentices Featherpaw and Flamepaw. A purr of amusement rumbled from the tom. "I see boredom got to those two apprentices." Cloudygaze could see Twistedfoot's head pointing towards the direction of the two rustling cats. "You might want to go check on those two before they roughen each other up too much and drive Dawnecho crazy." He commented. The tom gave a twitch of his ear and made his leave. "I'll go mingle with the others now. You take care Twistedfoot."
- - Featherpaw & Flamepaw // Camp - -
Featherpaw gave her pelt a quick shake then let out a sneeze. From the corner of her eye she noticed two figure exit the elder's den, her mentor Twistedfoot and the blind-ish elder Cloudygaze. She caught Twistedfoot staring at them and mistook his look of disapproval for merely watching them. Time to make him proud with my moves! The apprentice thought with glee. She stuck her tongue out back at Flamepaw. "That's what enemies say when they're defeated!" She taunted. She waited briefly as the ginger tabby circled her, remaining still until she wasn't in front of her. Featherpaw's blue eyes narrowed in concentration. Then, the white and gray she-cat put on a powerful burst and launched herself at Flamepaw.
[[ My goodness Twistedfoot must certainly have his days spent with this energetic furball as an apprentice lmao ]]

[ Twistedfoot ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with Fallen Stars Featherpaw ]
"Good idea..." Twistedfoot mumbled at Cloudygaze's suggestion, much less amused than the young elder at the antics of the apprentices. His yellow gaze didn't waver from the two apprentices as he spoke. As Cloudygaze took off, the warrior settled onto his haunches to watch how his apprentice's tussle with Flamepaw would play out first. "You as well," The white warrior called after the tom as a goodbye, his tail twitching back and forth behind him.
[ hue, ohh yeah. the poor, grouchy old man needed someone to brighten up his life. also, i'm going to wait for Sparkly to reply before we continue with Lichen, if that's alright? ]
[ Flamepaw ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with Fallen Stars Featherpaw ]
If Flamepaw had seen her battlemate's mentor exit into the clearing, she may have behaved differently, but she was quite preoccupied at the moment, intent on stalking the other apprentice. "Yeah, too bad I was being sarcastic, Featherpaw!" The she-cat retorted, her voice rising to a yowl mid-sentence as the silver point lunged suddenly toward her. She did her best to avoid the attack, attempting to jump above the she-cat and out of her reach. However, she did not have time for such a dodge, and Featherpaw collided with legs and haunches as she was about halfway into, throwing her backward and into a roll with a squeal.

Snowheart nodded. "Okay. Let's just get Skypaw and go," She mewed. "Anybody else who wants to join can follow our scent trail and catch up to us." She glanced around the camp. Not noticing Skypaw out and about yet, she padded towards the apprentice's den, peering inside. "Skypaw? I need you for a patrol." ( zero) ~~~~~~~~~~~ Tawnypaw paused, before nodding, following Lichenfur. She unconsciously began twitching her tail as she walked - one of her many comforting movements. She could probably handle being around three cats - Lichenfur and two other Clanmates - but being around more than that would be difficult. She just needed to get over it, really. She lived with more than twenty other cats! She was just being a kit about it.

Ospreystorm with πππ₯'s Spottedfire, Fallen Stars 's Lichenfur, Sparkly 's Tawnypaw The senior warrior grunted when the two other cats came into view. Looks like the young warrior was right. Great Starclan, she had acted like an apprentice on their first time out. Really, she had spent too much time in camp. Her senses were dulled and she couldn't relax enough. Ospreystorm's tail lashed once at the thought. As the two cat's approached, she mulled over what they would do now. The bottom line was, Ospreystorm didn't want to go any further with an apprentice so young. If there was a hungry predator or some other creature, Tawnypaw would make a nice, easy piece of prey for them. The warrior didn't trust the young apprentice to defend herself against anything. Her green eyes shifted from the apprentice's brown pelt to the mentor's white pelt. Lichenfur was one of the cat Ospreystorm trusted. A little bit soft but a good cat. If they did run into trouble, Lichenfur would defend her apprentice well. It wasn't ideal for the first border patrol of the season but she might be getting ahead of herself. These cats were out doing their own task. There was no need for them to join up. She dipped her head to the white warrior. "Out hunting?" She asked, hoping the mentor hadn't brought her apprentice out to practice battle moves or patrol the border. Hunting was important to feed the clan but even then, it was still dangerous. Houndpaw would not be stepping out of camp for a couple of sunrises. Still, she tried to keep her disapproval at bay. Skypaw with Snowheart and Redpatch In the cold and stuck at camp for days and days, the tom slept a lot more and a lot deeper. He knew if he was seen by his mother, all of the camp would hear about his laziness but he couldn't stop it. The cold lulled him to sleep. It was near perfect for naps. Perfect if not for mentors waking him up the minute he dozed off. "Huh?" He said, lifting his head and looking around for who had spoken. When he saw an empty den and his mentor's white fur, he quickly gathering himself. "Sorry Snowheart, I'll be right out." He said as he got to his paws. He gave his fur a couple of rough licks and shook out his fur. He gave one long stretch before padding out of the den. "Am I cleaning out the den today?" He asked with a tone he hoped remained neutral and respectful and did not let his displeasure show.

Tawnypaw decided to let Lichenfur reply to Ospreystorm. The older she-cat was one of the more difficult cats for Tawnypaw to interact with, and besides, her query seemed to be directed towards Lichenfur, not herself. Anyway, an apprentice talking to a senior warrior unprompted could end up being very disrespectful, and with Tawnypaw's social skills... No way was she making THAT mistake!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"We're going out on a hunting patrol," Snowheart mewed calmly. She always interacted in a calm yet friendly manner towards Skypaw - an attitude that she hoped would rub off on the young tom. The she-cat felt slightly bad for waking up Skypaw, but the Clan needed to be fed. Snowheart backed away slightly, in order to give Skypaw the room to fully stretch and wake up.
A little bit. This week is a bit busy. How are you necro? )
Skypaw -- with Snowheart Skypaw eyed his mentor when she spoke. Really? They were going out in the storm? He didn't want to freeze his tail off when all the mice in the forest were cozy in their burrows. Not to mention, he had a feeling Grizzlystar was going to have their frozen tails after he finds out about this little patrol. His brain hadn't frozen over but obviously, Snowheart's had. Still, the tom didn't voice his concerns. He supposed this would give him good experience that might come in use...someday. The tom had to smoother a snort of amusement at the thought. He shook out his pelt again and dubbed himself ready for his mentor's foolish mission.
"Is anyone else coming along?" He asked with a bit of hope in his voice. He hoped for one more cat to join in. Maybe they could be the voice of reason and tell them to turn back before they had frozen paws.
