Blazingheart followed slightly behind the older warrior. It was comforting to fall behind in old habits of her apprenticeship. Of course, now she couldn't space out anymore while her mentor lead the way. She would have to pay attention and scent the air. Maybe, she mused, her lack of talent in tracking was because she had always found looking at the forest to be better than hunting. The forest was still more lovely than the act of hunting but she knew it had to be done and there would be time for looking later. She realized she had forgotten about keeping track of the scent for a second and quickly, but discreetly as possible, put her nose in the air. "I think its getting stronger." She said, stopping. She took a few steps away from the Oakfur to get a clearer scent and nodded. "Yup, it's close." She looked back at him.

[ very sorry to hear about your friend Inky, I do hope that all is well now ! once again, I apologize for my absentees, but I will have a new laptop on Tuesday so things should be much better from there! i'm very thankful for those of you that have stuck around. c: this clan means a lot to me, so thank you and I appreciate you all! ][ Grizzlystar ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with βπ³βα΄cΚα΄α΄
π¦βπ³ββcβα΄Κ's Verglaswhistle ]
The mighty tom was shaken by little in this life, yet the pain of his family struck him hard. As much as he was dedicated to his clan, Grizzlystar would be lying if he didn't admit to himself that his daughter, and the well-being of her kits, meant the slightest bit more to him than the rest of his clan. Getting to his paws as well, heavily, the tom shook out his thick pelt, as is he could physically shake off this invasive thought. "Yes..." He murmured lowly. "There are many things." With that, the leader's amber eyes drifted around the rest of camp, surveying its contents. "I'm going to call together a patrol. See about catching some more prey." He decided, reaching down to lick the top of Verglaswhistle's bowed head. Grizzlystar figured the more bellies he could fill today, the more likely it would be to coax the queen to eat. However, he was not holding his breath.
-
[ Twistedfoot ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with Fallen Stars Cloudygaze ]
Twistedfoot noted Cloudygaze's small smile, pelt prickling ever so slightly with guilt. The tom typically prided himself, for lack of a better word, on his respectful demeanor, and blundering as he had in front of Cloudygaze upset him. He knew the elder well-he wasn't much older than Twistedfoot himself, and they had severed much time as warrior's together. He imagined that Cloudygaze's position must be frustrating for the tom, sndand Twistedfoot didn't want to draw attention to that. A dull, old ache shot through his mangled paw at this moment and it occurred to him that he and the elder weren't much different. The whire warrior bowed his head at Cloudygaze's response, not surprised by it. "A patrol must go out today. The storm is likely as calm as it will get." He peered out of the den to see Grizzlystar doing just that now, nodding slightly to himself in conformation.
_ [ Flamepaw ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with Fallen Stars Featherpaw]
The orange tabby rolled off of her back and onto her paws as Featherpaw climbed off of her. She gathered herself into a crouch of her own, white toes tucked beneath her. Her claws flexed against the cool stone of the cave floor beneath her paws. Finally, Flamepaw had a chance to stretch her legs for the first time in days, a sensation the tabby had been itching for. The apprentice giggled at Featherpaw's sneeze, and she poked her tongue out at her. "You asked for it!" Flamepaw warned as she released her bunched muscles and sprung forward with a yowl, paws outstretched towards the silver lynx point.
- [ Spottedfire ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with zero 's Ospreystorm ]
The dilute tortoishell had been pacing back and forth in front of the long slit in the otherwise smooth cave wall that made up camp's entrance for what seemed like hours. Desperately restless, the she-cats tail lashed aggressively behind her, tattered ears alternating between flicking and lying flat agaisnt the back of her head. The recent storms had been driving Spottedfire wild. Heaviness weighed down on the clan, so much that it was nearly tangible, and the feeling was only growing worse. She felt she must do something. Glancing around the quiet caven, the tortoiseshell's amber eyes landed on Ospreystorm's form, and she beckoned the warrior towards her with a wave of the tail.

Blazingheart --- with Sparkly 's Oakfur The young warrior checked the air again. The scent of the hare had disappeared and was replaced with squirrel. Her fur prickled with embarrassment. She couldn't believe she hadn't noticed the obvious difference in the scent. At least Oakfur didn't seem to mind. She felt disappointed but prey was prey. She knew she shouldn't be upset. Blazingheart silently nodded in response as to not scare off the squirrel before crouching down and stalking away. The squirrel was rather easy to find with its bushy tail twitching like a flag. She looked to the tree to make sure Oakfur was in position before she darted out behind the squirrel. Directing prey was a lot harder than it looked and the young warrior figured this out quickly. Squirrels were especially hard since they are fast and can climb. Blazingheart had to leap in one direction than the other multiple times before managing to herd the squirrel under the right tree. When she stopped, her breathes were short and hard but her heart soared in victory. Ospreystorm --- with πππ₯ 's Spottedfire The senior warrior didn't like to be beckoned by any cat, much less by one of the younger warriors, but Spottedfire was one of the few cats she respected. This time, she responded to the silent call. As she slowly padded up to the warrior, she immediately recognized the anxious energy welling up within the other warrior. She had a similar problem when confined to the nursery. Sitting in the den all day nearly drove her up the wall. Her whiskers twitched as she settled down. "Do you want to patrol or hunt?" She asked the younger warrior as nonchalantly as possible. It would be a lie to say she didn't feel the same urge to escape camp and run her paws off around the territory but she wouldn't let it show. The twitch of her tail was the one sign of her nerves. (No problems! Just a heads up, my activity will probably drop drastically for the next couple of days as I'm going back to the university. )

Blazingheart -- with Sparkly 's Oakfur Blazingheart hopped in place when Oakfur landed on the squirrel. She was expected the tom but really, she wasn't completely ready. It was a little shocking when a mass of ginger fur falls from a tree. All was forgotten in a second. A large grin grew on her muzzle when the squirrel fell limb under his claws. "You timed your landing perfectly," She meowed, a little flustered at the praise. Though her chest fur puffed slightly in pride. She was very pleased the older warrior had praised her but even more pleased to bring back prey to the clan. This could feed Cloudygaze or a couple of apprentices. "I don't know if I could do that again. Do you want to head back to the clan before the squirrel freezes?" She asked the tom with a bit of hope in her tone. One piece of prey was more than she was counting on for this trip and she was hoping to bring it back without giving any hungry scavengers a chance. Plus, her paws were freezing. She really wouldn't mind returning to her warm nest. The thought made her feel a twinge of guilt but not enough to make her feel terrible or regret asking.

[ Spottedfire ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with zero 's Ospreystorm ]
Spottedfire's claws flexed and scraped against the smooth floor of the cavern, making a rather unsettling scraping sound as Ospreystorm responded to her beckoning, padding over and resting beside her. The tortoiseshell's amber eyes shifted sideways to meet the she-cat's her ears still flat against her skull. "A patrol is definitely needed." She responded, her voice low and reminiscent of a hiss. "Everyone being confined to camp all this time, and this winter as harsh as it has been, there's bound to be predators about in the territory." Spottedfire continued, turning her head to stare out of the cave's entrance as she spoke as if she were imagining threats to Mountainclan pouring through it.

Blazingheart --- Hunting with Sparkly 's Oakfur. Blazingheart nodded silently as she picked up the squirrel. Maybe it wasn't right to lay claim to a prey which fell under another cat's claws but she couldn't help herself. It wasn't a crime to want a little recognition from her clanmates. "Phanks." She said through the squirrel with a purr rumbling. With a burst of confidence, she started to lead the two back to the cave. When they neared, she slowed slightly. They were on a patrol, but it wasn't very official. Blazingheart had been told to come along. She hadn't seen a problem in the moment and realized too late they probably shouldn't have gone out without expressed permission. Seeing no way out, Blazingheart just prayed Glizzlystar was busy somewhere else. Carefully, as if somecat being more quiet would make them invisible, she walked through the entrance and stuck to the edge of camp. Ospreystorm -- In camp with πππ₯ 's Spottedfire Ospreystorm nodded. She couldn't agree with Spottedfire more. Starving predators would take the risk in this weather to extend their territory into the clan's. There were always more foxes and raccoons leaping onto unsuspecting patrols or stealing the clan's prey. Young warriors and apprentices always came back with wounds around now. Her tail twitched at the thought of her son carrying those wounds. There hadn't been any patrols, hunting or border, sent out despite the break in the storm. Honestly, it seemed the clan was waiting for somecat to tell them to be warriors and not slugs. She wasn't going to wait. She won't let her son starve or be mauled by whatever was waiting, snowstorm or not. "Grizzlystar left to hunt. I assume the confinement is over for the moment unless the leader wants to protect and hunt for the whole clan." She said with a sharp tone. Did she disapprove? Yes. Strongly so. The leader should have at least brought a couple of cats along. Loosing him in the storm would be a disaster for the clan right now. Honestly, the foolish tom was lucky to have come back with all of his limbs. The hare could have only been a blessing from Starclan. "If we are quick, we can return before the next flurry starts." She said as she stood up.

[ i finally got my laptop today, so the front page has been updated and everything should be accurate! let me know if i missed anything. also, i didn't realize how bad Grizzlystar's icon looked and i'm appalled lmao. fixed that. ]
[ Spottedfire ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with zero 's Ospreystorm ]
Spottedfire bit her tongue as best she could at Ospreystorm's words, not typically tolerant of even the slightest negative comment about her father. However, she respected the older warrior and wasn't about to argue with her about her opinion. She merely gave a quick lash of her tail in annoyance, gaze shifting to her father for a moment. The tortie thought for a moment about asking permission but decided against it. "Better get going then." She concluding, turning sharply and slipping through the opening in the cave wall.
The brilliant white light of Mountainclan's wintery terrain blinded the she-cat for a moment as she stepped out into the snow. There was a small path trailing off from the entrance from when Grizzlystar had left to hunt earlier, but Spottedfire turned in the opposite direction, towards the lake. A few lengths off the worn path, she sank almost chest deep in powder, a low hiss of annoyance escaping her jaws. "This is dangerous. Any patrol would hardly be able to see anything coming." The she-cat grumbled, eyes narrowed against the brightness and the wind. "There's bound to be something to chase off out here."
-
[ Redpatch ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with Sparkly 's Snowheart ]
Redpatch had been a bit of a late riser on this morning, although that wasn't necessarily the worst thing these days. There was only so much a warrior could be expected to do in such times, confined to camp as they were, so the tom wasn't missing out on much as far as duties. He gave a long stretch, tail whipping above his and jaws parting in a long yawn. Shaking out his fluffy coat, Redpatch stepped out of the wide arch entrance of the cave that made the warriors den, looking around camp. The usual hustle and bustle had slowed to a near halt with the storms rolling through and the cavern was eerily silent. A small sigh escaped the tom. disheartened at the sight. His eye caught Snowheart nearby and he padded toward the warrior.
"Good morning!" He greeted warmly, flashing the white she-cat a smile. He gave a few quick licks to a forepaw and smoothed out some of the fur along his face after he spoke. "A little solemn this morning..." He added sadly, looking around camp again with a small frown shadowing his face.

When they reached the fresh-kill pile, he sat down nearby, curling his tail around his paws with a small smile.

"Good morning, Redpatch," She greeted him. "I do suppose so," She mused, glancing around. "But I guess that the heavy snow is muffling any noises somewhat. Then again, it's good to have a break from the storms, right?" Early-morning conversation with her Clanmates - it was practically what Snowheart was built for.

lol I thought my computer wasn't loading his picture right. But everything looks great now. This clan has some pretty cats. ) Ospreystorm -- Outside with πππ₯ 's Spottedfire The eldest warrior could sense the young cat's displeasure after she had spoken. No doubt angry about Ospreystorm's critical words about her father. There was a part of the she-cat which understood Spottedfire's protectives towards her family all too well, but she figured Spottedfire had to learn how to accept criticism towards their leader. He was lead to a higher standard than most cats and needed to act like it. They couldn't have the tom wandering off because he thought he could win against a storm. Ospreystorm shoved her thoughts away when the other she-cat spoke and stood up. The she-cat gave a long stretch before following her clanmate out of camp. The blinding glare of the reflected light never got easier, no matter how many moons a cat was. The warrior winced but padded through the discomfort. She crouched next to the other warrior and scanned the land. Spottedfire was right. With the gusts of wind changing direction every heartbeat and the snow past their bellies, any warrior could easily fall prey to a fox or lynx. "We would have to see it though." The she-cat grumbled, having tried and failed to get any scent other than theirs in the air. She wasn't the best tracker in the clan but she doubted the best could find a trail in this weather. (Do you want something to jump out at them? ) Blazingheart --- In camp with Sparkly 's Oakfur The she-cat dropped the squirrel on the pile and let out a long sigh. While she had wanted to deliver it personally, she didn't want to admit to going outside and it looked like both the queen and elder of the clan was busy. Maybe it was better this way. Less chance of getting caught. Hopefully, she could tell someone about the hunt and the resulting squirrel later. With one longing, last look at the squirrel, she walked away. She moved over to Oakfur and sat down. With her paws tucked under her and tail tight against her side, she felt a fraction warmer. She would like to be in her nest but she didn't want to abandon Oakfur without saying anything. "Maybe we could hunt again." She suggested, carefully keeping her eyes away from the warrior next to her and trying not to sound hopeful. She knew she had fun and was pretty sure they had worked together really well for their first time as hunting partners, but she didn't really know if Oakfur felt the same or perhaps preferred to hunt alone. She didn't want to pressure him into anything.

[ i'm thinking of maybe having a little mini plot go on in the clan involving a pack of coyotes moving into the territory and causing problems with prey and attacking clan cats due to the winter to spice stuff up a little bit, so they can definitely encounter them right now! and i know, i love everyone's photos-they're all so fluffy and look like they'd be right at home in the mountains. β‘ i'm so glad everyone looked at the traits lmao. ]
[ Spottedfire ] β» [ Mountainclan Territory, heading towards the Lake ] β» [ with zero 's Ospreystorm ]
Spottedfire nodded agitatedly, agreeing with Ospreystrom's words. Her eyes were narrowed into amber slits. against the wind and snow. The warrior's calico coat, although dilute, still stood out harshly against the snow, although white flakes were quickly starting to attach themselves to the she-cats coat. Her nose twitched uncomfortably as snowflakes landed on it and melted. Also unable to pick up a scent in the conditions, the she-cat just trudged on, blazing a trail through the snow, blind in more ways than one. What a nightmare... Spottedfire thought bitterly, shaking off the clumps of snow that began to form and cling to her paws.
"I think we should check the southern border," She suggested, looking behind her shoulder at Ospreystorm. Although not one to ask the elder warrior for permission or which way to go, she did want to hear her opinion, which was saying something for Spottedfire. "Since it's furthest from camp, no one would have gone that far for at least a few days."
-
[ Redpatch ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with Sparkly 's Snowheart ]
Redpatch dipped his head to Snowheart in response to the she-cat's greeting, shrugging a bit at her comment about the storms. "I guess you're right." He mused, settling onto his haunches near the white warrior, tail wrapped tightly around his freezing paws. "Hopefully it stays this way for a while..." Redpatch hoped out loud. Maybe this was wishful thinking, but the tom preferred to be positive-there wasn't much else he could do in such a situation. Someone had to be thinking optimistically, because Starclan knows most of the clan was not, and maybe they were smarter for it.

Blazingheart -- in camp with Sparkly 's Oakfur Blazingheart shivered at the thought of setting paw outside into the freezing, white world. Even if all the mice of the forest offered themselves, she wouldn't be leaving camp. "Later," She said, "I don't think my paws would stand another trip in the snow until next sunrise." She shifted again, tucking her paws further under her, if that was even possible. "I don't know how you could even think about leaving camp. Were you cold?" She asked, actually sounding curious and genuine when asking her question. Ospreystorm -- outside camp with πππ₯ 's Spottedfire (Sounds fun, thought not so fun for the cats. It would make sense for a lot of things to go wrong or for a lot of troubling events to happen, so the clan cats can start to question Grizzlystar's leadership. ) Ospreystorm looked at their surroundings as she mulled over the she-cat's words. The storm didn't seem to be getting worse, but it wasn't getting any better. They could find their way to the border. The question was getting back. She wanted to protect the clan as much as any warrior but she wasn't going to leap into things without thinking. It would be foolish to waste life running after a battle. "The southern border is a good choice." The she-cat said with a nod before looking at her fellow warrior. Spottedfire looked ready. She could see the spark of flame, no doubt what she was named after, in her eyes. There had to be restrictions set in place, if moons weren't going to be taken from Ospreystorm's life in this patrol. "We can head towards the border and keep a look out for any enemies. But, if we see one or if the weather gets any rougher, we are turning back. It would do the clan no good to loose two good warriors." She paused for a second before speaking again. "If there is an enemy, we go back to report it to Grizzlystar." She knew the young warrior might be disappointed at the lack of a glorious battle but Ospreystorm wasn't about to risk her pelt and the leader's daughter's pelt for a couple of mangy foxes or raccoons. She waited for the she-cat to agree, not going to move until she heard some sort of verbal agreement for the plan.

The large, pale-furred she-cat stopped suddenly and her ears perked up as she heard a cry. Lichenfur turned her head to see her apprentice down face-first in the snow. Her whiskers twitched in amusement as she waited patiently for Tawnypaw to get up. She'll grow in time. We all have had those moments. The warrior reflected, reminiscing to her days as an apprentice battling through the snow. Not a moment after the dark brown tabby caught up to her. Lichenfur nodded her head in approval and then turned around, waved her tail to beckon the she-cat to follow. After a decent while, due to the rough terrain, the lake of Mountainclan territory came into view. She could spot the arrangement of boulders not too far ahead and made a mental note to make sue to check around there later for potential prey. For now, there were other things to cover. Licherfur stopped where she was and looked down at her apprentice. "Tawnypaw, what can you scent currently?" She questioned. Of course Lichenfur had made sure prior there were no dangers in the area, in which there were none. She wanted to test the she-cat on what she could detect.

The elder nodded his head somberly. "Of course," he replied. "Patrols must go on despite the weather." Cloudygaze's head turned slightly as he gazed out towards the entrance with a distant look in his eyes as if he were looking out of the camp. He gave a sigh. "While I may not have been outside for a while, I feel it has been particularly rough out as of late. I can tell as much from what I hear among our Clanmates." The tom mused. He grew quiet for a moment as he let that sink in. The gray tabby then shook his head as if ridding of those negative thoughts. "Nevermind that." He said, rising to his paws. "We are strong. We can push through this." He then said with reassurance. Cloudygaze began to pad slowly out of the elder's den. "Come now. Let's see what everyone is up to." The tom said with a hint of amusement in his voice, suggesting there could be interesting things going on within the camp.

- - Featherpaw & Flamepaw // Camp - -
Being too focused in her crouched position, Featherpaw was a bit too late to react to Flamepaw's attack. The gray-white she-cat cat rose to her paws about halfway before the ginger tabby bowled into her and sent her tumbling backwards in a similar fashion. She lay still for a moment. "Woah, you're so fast." Featherpaw said in awe, unaware that she was to one that was too slow. The apprentice then began to squirm as she attempted to throw her opponent off of her. She then managed to smack Flamepaw at the side of her face with her paw. "Bet you can't get past this slippery snake." She snickered, feeling a wave of pride and accomplishment as she then maneuvered her way to her feet again.

She dipped her head once, waiting patiently for her mentor's reaction.

Nothing much has been going on. But Osprey and Spotted are probably about to encounter some coyotes, so maybe Lichen and Tawny can join in if you guys want? ) Blazingheart -- in camp with Sparkly 's Oakfur Blazingheart nodded along while keeping her eyes on the happenings of camp. She didn't think any cat liked Leafbare, maybe the white furred ones did for hunting. But the cold was nearly unbearable some days and she didn't like any cat had immunity from that. "Newleaf is better for hunting but cleaning out the dens was horrible." She scrunched her nose, remembering the many large clumps of fur left in the moss from shedding. She remembered the older apprentices joking about the horrors of newleaf den cleaning and not understanding. Now she understood perfect and was very glad she would never have to clean another nest again. "Poor Featherpaw will be nonstop sneezing if she has to clean out the dens." Blazingheart said with a hint of sympathy.
