Watching her father deflate in the face of defeat, the silver tabby nestled close to her father with a quiet sigh.. Leafbare was difficult under normal circumstances, but the young queen could see the weight of responsibility beginning to build across his shoulders and it broke her heart. It wasn't her place to add to his pressures, but it seemed that at every turn there was something only to add to the ever growing pile. However, the leader's attempt at humour had the opposite effect in truth. The shecat closed her eyes and rested her slender head across her paws with a grimace. At first she didn't respond to her father, For that was her exact fear, time and time again the story of her near death had been recounted to her, the fact she had barely survived her first leafbare. And now she found herself terrified that her kits might befall the same fate that she had evaded so many moons ago. Wrapping her tail protectively over the swell of her stomach, she pressed close to her father with a quiet sigh. "That must feel like a lifetime ago by now, papa." The queen managed what almost sounded like a chuckle, but came out more choked than intended.

Grizzlystar picked up the strained notes in his daughter's voice and remain silent for a very long, drawn-out moment. He didn't intend to make the young queen's mind cloud with worry but knew it must be hard for her to not be burdened by concern for her coming kits. "A few, yes..." The tom murmured, thinking back to the season of his daughters birth. "What I'm trying to say is, if your kits are anything like their mother, and I know they will be, then they'll be strong." The tom concluded, shaking his head matter of factly as if he was convincing himself of that point as well as Verglaswhistle. "And they'll be just fine."

[[ Sorry for the late reply, been a bit busy recently. Also, I have Lichenfur and Nightwatcher open if anyone would like to rp as well ^^ ]]
- - Cloudygaze & Twistedfoot // Camp - -
The elder paused from his grooming, having noticed something enter the den. It was a blur of white, and Cloudygaze knew it was without even having to ask. "Ah, Twistedfoot. Good morning to you as well." He greeted the warrior with a purr. He then gave a quick scratch behind his ear before settling in a more comfortable sitting position. "How have you been as of late?" Cloudygaze asked as his head tilted slightly to the side.
= = = = = - - Featherpaw & Flamepaw // Camp - -
The daydream did not last for long. Featherpaw felt a soft object hit her square in the forehead. She gave a squeak of surprise as her head jolted up. She looked around frantically until she hear her culprit give a mischievous purr. Likewise, the apprentice gave a mischievous purr. "Oh it's on Flamepaw!" She called out in challenge. Featherpaw grabbed the moss ball beside her and flung it back at the apprentice. She proceeded rise up and charge. Then with a laugh she pounced at her opponent.
[ Twistedfoot ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with Cloudygaze ]
The white tom shrugged his wide shoulders at the tom in response, forgetting for a moment that this was a gesture the elder very well may not be able to see. Twistedfoot shifted his large paws around ever-so-slighty on the cave floor in a small act of embarembarrassment at forgetting about Cloudygaze's failing sight and cleared his throat with a quiet cough. "As well as can be expected." He responded verbally, hoping that Cloudygaze had missed his blunder. Having watched Grizzlystar bring a kill back to camp earlier, Twistedfoot continued in his curt fashion, "There is prey."
_ [ Flamepaw ] β» [ Mountainclan Camp ] β» [ with Featherpaw ]
Flamepaw, who had been rather preoccupied laughing uncontrollably at the simple, entertaining sight of her moss ball hitting Featherpaw in the head, did not notice the other apprentice's retaliation. She hardly had time to duck the moss ball that Featherpaw had thrown back her way- and call out an "Is that your best shot?"-before the other apprentice had launched at her. With a high-pitched squeal of delight, Flamepaw was bowled over backwards as Featherpaw's weight collided with her.

Spottedfire and Ospreystorm would probably get on well together (or they would tear each other's head off) or Mossypaw and Skypaw might be fun to rp together with Skypaw trying this best to be polite to the stuck-up tom and probably failing.
It's up to you. ^^ )

The grimace on the young queens face made it apparent that she was less than certain about her father's attempts at reassurance. Drawing her tail around her frame with a rumbling chuckle, but the sound was hoarse and humourless. "I wish I could be so sure," The honesty in her wavering tone was apparent, but she refused to remain still and waver under the pressure of everything building up on her shoulders. Lifting herself to her paws, rubbing her head against her father's flank in gratitude for his words. "Thankyou, though," Verglaswhistle meowed with a flick of her tail tip. Silver head still bowed as she spoke, "I'm sure you have more things to worry about than your daughter right now."

Blazingheart -- with Sparkly 's Oakfur Blazingheart's ginger paw hovered over the cold, snow-covered ground. Her eyes were locked on a small movement in the snow. Her nose told her there was a mouse in the area but thanks to the deep snow, she couldn't see the creature. It was only when the snow moved she could make a guess. Really, she wasn't much of a hunter, especially in the snow, but she couldn't deny the hungry souls back at camp. Namely Flamepaw. Keeping her sister in her mind, she took a step closer to the mouse. The step had been a mistake. The snow crunched under her paw and the prey froze. A tiny brown head poked up out of the snow Blazingheart knew there would be no mouse blind enough not to see her bright ginger pelt. Without another thought, she lunged forward with claws unsheathed. She didn't even feel a whisker between her paws. She just heard the scrabble of tiny paws against the ground, then nothing. The precious morsels of food were gone and Blazingheart was covered in snow. The warrior was suddenly very glad the patrol had scattered and no one else was here to see that embarrassing display. She stood up and shook most of the remaining snow out of her fur. At the sound of approaching pawsteps, she stopped quickly. Hopefully, no one else had seen her little loss. Her pelt was already prickling from embarrassment as she turned towards the orgin.

- - Lichenfur & Tawnypaw // Leaving Camp - -
The she-cat gave a soft smile. It was nice to see her apprentice eager and ready to go. For sure it made their sessions together more fun. "Wonderful, let's go then." Lichenfur replied. With a flick of her tail she beckoned Tawnypaw and padded off towards to camp entrance. "We'll be heading by the lake for prey," she explained. "Also, you'll get some some experience what the outside looks like after a storm." As usual she kept things as simple as she could for her apprentice. She knew Tawnypaw's focus was not as sharp at times, so it was easier not to be so descriptive with her. Out of the cave, Lichenfur's green eyes flickered as they adjusted to the sunlight. She gazed out at the vast territory of Mountainclan. For sure the storm left behind a ton of snow. The warrior looked down at the apprentice. "I hope you're ready for a little trek." She said, then began padding onward.

- - Cloudygaze & Twistedfoot // Elder's Den - -
While everything was a blur to the elder, Cloudygaze could still catch movements by deciphering shapes and colors. He noticed the warrior shrug his shoulders then shuffle his paws. Piecing it together he assumed that the tom forgot he couldn't see that clearly and probably felt bad about it. Cloudygaze smiled slightly as Twistedfoot recovered from his little blunder. He wasn't mad at all, he totally understand. He himself, the one with the failing sight, forgot sometimes. Cloudygaze nodded his head. "Good to hear." He replied. His nose gave a twitch as the mention of prey. While that did sound tempting, he held himself back. The gray tabby waved his paw nonchalantly. "Thank you, I'll be sure to find something myself later Twistedfoot."

- - Featherpaw & Flamepaw // Camp - -
Having successfully landed on her distracted opponent, Featherpaw gave a squeal of delight as she sent Flamepaw tumbling backwards and pinned her to the ground. She grinned cheekily then stuck out her tongue. "Gotcha." She snickered. The lynx point ragdoll released her hold on the apprentice and stepped back. She then lowered herself to a crouch. Featherpaw opened her mouth to speak, but was interrupted as she sneezed. With a sniff she composed herself. "Show me watcha got." She said in challenge. Her tail swayed back and forth furiously in anticipation as the apprentice braced herself.

He had looked around, finally finding the she-cat - just as she missed her prey. He approached her at a trot, sitting down next to her as she turned around. "Good try," He mewed. "It's pretty difficult to catch prey in leaf-bare for us gingers, huh?" He joked, tail swishing across the snow behind him. "It's much easier in Greenleaf or Leaf-fall."

She said, then began padding onward. Tawnypaw followed behind Lichenfur, testing each step as she took it. Her coordination wasn't the best, so snow was her ultimate enemy when training. However, she did usually manage to not slip up - not this time, though. Tawnypaw tripped and fell, plummeting face-first into the snow. "Ah!" She cried out, her paws slipping out from under her. After a few moments, she resurfaced, running to catch up with Lichenfur. Not her best moment, for sure.

Blazingheart --- with Sparkly 's Oakfur If the joke came from any other clan cat, Blazingheart might think it was a criticism. Coming from Oakfur, she found herself relieved she wasn't the only one who had trouble with blending in. Even if a small part of her was still embarrassed for getting a face full of snow right in front of the older warrior, she managed to relax a fraaction. "Yeah," She started with a small purr, "Leaf-bare has always been hard." She sat down in the snow, despite her cold pads, when she saw Oakfur had settled. She didn't want to seem rude or in a hurry to get away. She would rather freeze her tail off than let that happen. "Leaf-fall has always been my favorite because of all the colors. The leaves are much easier to blend in and prettier." She paused for a second to look up at the trees. She was hesitant to share her next thought but the curiosity would kill her if she didn't. "Did you ever try to climb the trees and jump down to catch prey?" She asked quickly. The method was one she had tried moons ago in her apprenticeship when she started to notice her clanmates carrying back more prey than she would ever catch. It was foolish hope. The trees in Mountainclan's territory had branches too high to jump down from and they were easy to break. She learned that the hard way with a sore side and a pained leg. Really, she had gotten off lucky. But she hoped she wasn't the only struggling hunter who had thought of and attempted this.

Blazingheart blinked. The cheerful confirmation was not the words she had expected. How did he do it? She supposed she was an apprentice when she climbed the trees. Maybe she was just bad at climbing. Not wanting to embarrass herself further, she kept her mouth shut about her experiences and welcomed the tom's change of subject. "Yes, I think the whole clan wishes for the snow to be gone." She said with a nod, "It really has been too cold and the snow is pilling too high. Have you seen some of the younger apprentices trying to walk through the snow?" The last part was meant to be a joke but she realized worry had seeped into her tone. Though Blazingheart had to admit part of her thought the apprentices trying to march through the snow was funny, she was also worried about their safety and ability. Starclan forbid if they ran into a fox.

Blazingheart nodded along. She couldn't agree more but couldn't see a solution. The only one she could think of was the option Oakfur had voiced. Even then, the task seemed impossible. "No, I don't want to bother Grizzlystar. If he wanted to clear the surrounding area, he would have ordered it." She shook her head. Sure, she believed the tom may have already thought of the idea, but even if he didn't, she wouldn't approach the leader outright. Really, the new warrior didn't want to disturb or upset the intimidating tom in any way possible. "Perhaps...perhaps this will give them training for the future?" She suggested hopefully. She had to believe there was a bright side to all of these horrible storms. Even if it didn't completely make up for the moons of growling bellies and thinned tempers. "Like how we learned to climb the trees." She added, trying to joke to lighten the mood.

"If something happens in the future, like a drought or flood, it'll do the apprentices good to know how to survive in extreme environments and little prey." He glanced around, scanning the landscape. "Speaking of prey, do you want to go hunt with me?" He asked. "It would be easier to hunt as a pair, rather than separately," He added.

inky Sorry, that sounds rough, I hope everything is alright now. ^^ ) Blazingheart -- with Sparkly's Oakfur The she-cat nodded solemnly when Oakfur spoke about more disasters. The idea brought up memories of her parents and the avalanche. She shuffled her paws and looked away from the tom. Maybe it wasn't right to joke about things right now. The older warrior seemed to have switched to hunting again and Blazingheart was happy to go along with the change. Anything to get away from her mistake. "Yeah, I would love someone to hunt with," She said with a nod. She stood up and arched her back. "Maybe we could catch a rabbit or hare if we work together." Her bright eyes seemed to spark at the thought of bringing back the large pieces of prey. A mouse seemed too small for the young warrior. She wanted to impress. "Do you want to climb and I'll stay on the ground to catch the prey closer?" She suggested, while walking around to scent the air.

Blazingheart scented the air in the direction which the tom had pointed. Like he had said, there was the light scent of hare blowing towards them. The scent was so weak, she was afraid she would loose the scent if the wind shifted. Her tail twitched slightly at the thought of loosing the trail. Still, she nodded. The clan had be fed and she wasn't going to let Oakfur down. She took a couple of steps along the trail before looking back. "Sounds good. I'll track the hare and you will climb the tree. I'll chase and you leap." She repeated the plan so the tom could correct her, "I think I can do that." She nodded, hoping this would reassure the older warrior of her confidence despite the actual lack of. At least she wasn't climbing. She didn't think she was ready for a rematch with the trees quite yet.
