Riley wasn't paying attention to the people outside of their conversation at this point. She did notice his intensity. And she loved it. She wanted to see that he was interested in helping Jordan. She paid close attention to his reactions as she spoke. She personally wasn't a big fan of Jordan's Dad, but she knew that Jordan still loved him, even if he's the one that had set up this marriage between her and Eric. Eric was the one that Riley truly blamed for everything. He could have been an adult and tried to at least be a good husband to Jordan just like she'd done. But no, he had to go and be a child and be difficult. She sighed for a moment, trying to push Eric out of her mind. This was focusing on Jordan and Rhys. How Rhys could help Jordan. How Riley could help Rhys help Jordan. Eric was just an obstacle that they had to overcome and Riley was here to help Rhys figure that part out. At his words, she smiled. "Good. I want Jordan to be happy too," she said, shaking her head. "Jordan and Sam are important to me and I miss who she was before she got married. She was always just living life and she was an idiot and got in trouble and got herself in trouble, but it was fun and I want that Jordan back," she said. Yeah, Jordan probably wouldn't be exactly like that because she was an adult now. She had matured and now had a child to raise, but Riley still wanted to see some of her old friend. The fun loving and goofball that she'd befriended back when they were children. She nodded along with what he said. "I've been trying to figure that out for years. I mean, you're right. We can't just take Jordan away and expect everything to get better. Maybe you could try to be a good friend to her?" It was a weak start, but it was a start. Jordan needed to trust Rhys and let him in before anything could happen. She hesitated a bit. "I need you to be honest with me. Do you like Jordan? Like like like her?" she asked. "Or even if you don't now, do you think you could in the future?" she asked. aether

]The Jordan that Riley described was a Jordan that Rhys yearned to meet. Rhys was immortal, so to him, time with others was paramount. He didn't mind how his time was spent... but others... they had a lack of time and every day was like a piece of sand slipping through their fingers. He took a drink of his lemonade and licked his lips. "I'll... charm her away, in a sense," he started, cringing slightly at how it may have come across to Riley. "I'll make her see a world without Eric. All she can see now is how much Eric and her father have put her into this situation, into this life, but if we can open those doors and let her see outside it than maybe... she'll just make the decision herself." He heard her next question and his reply was instant, "Right now, Jordan is all I can think about." He tilted his head slightly, "I don't know what it is or why it is... but I can see myself with her for a very long time."
The fact that Rhys was able to know that Jordan was his soulmate added to the severity of the situation. What time he did have with her was important to him, because it wasn't often he was able to find his soulmate and was able to love them like he wanted to love Jordan. So, he nodded his head. "Her happiness is all I can ever want," he stated.

Riley had tried everything she could to help Jordan. The only thing she hadn't done was trying to find a new guy for her friend. She'd, of course, encouraged flirting or teased Jordan about liking guys, but she'd never seriously attempted to get Jordan into a relationship. She'd just been afraid that she'd mess it up. She'd pick a guy that ended up being worse than Eric, or someone that turned away when they knew the situation, or someone that would leave her the second they got bored. But something about Rhys told Riley that he was none of those things. He could be the one to save her. Riley nodded. "That's what I was thinking. I mean, I know Jordan's thought about leaving, but she's afraid. She has nothing. It's all Eric's. If she leaves, she won't have money, won't have a home, won't have Sam. I mean, I've offered my place to her, but I'm not sure how long I could support two people," she said with a frown. Riley was doing fine on her own, but supporting someone else? That was harder. She smiled at his answer and reached over to take his hand, giving it a squeeze. "That means a lot, Rhys. Jordan needs someone like that, and I think you already mean a lot to her." Her voice lowered slightly. "But I swear. If you hurt her, I will be coming after you." She didn't think Rhys would hurt Jordan, but she was the best friend. She was kind of required to threaten him. aether

As Riley explained the reason that Jordan could not really just up and go, Rhys understood. It was fear - if she left, Eric would take everything from her - even her father because of his love for the business. Rhys narrowed his eyes, as he wished he could do more to help, but he figured the only part he was able to play was to be to be a guide. Riley was the person who watched over Jordan, but Rhys would guide her to a new place. "I'll help her with all I have," Rhys promised. To be fair, he didn't have a lot - just all he had on him. He leaned forward slightly as her voice lowered, and despite the threatening words, he smiled. Knowing that Jordan had a friend like Riley was something that was reassuring. He felt as though he owed a lot to Riley. "If I do ever hurt her, I give you full permission to come after me. But I promise I won't," he straightened up and took a breath. It was nice knowing he had Riley's thumbs-up. Now all he had to do was help Jordan...

(Yeah. I'm cool with skipping. I'm writing this based on what I remember from our planning so let me know if something is wrong) Eric was mad. He'd recently gotten home from his business trip, though he'd extended it a bit so that he could enjoy his time how he wanted to. He ran his fingers through his hair as he heard Jordan enter the house and head upstairs to take a shower. Smart choice. He sighed and got to his feet, remembering how he'd seen Jordan with that useless idiot the first day he came home. And he had reason to believe that she was still going out to see him. Eric had told her not to, but she claimed Rhys was a friend and went to go see him anyway. Hearing the shower turn on, Eric finally made up his mind. He stood up from his leather chair and exited the house. He'd followed Jordan the day before and remembered the route to this guy's place. And he was going to get revenge. Nobody tried to steal his wife from him. He looked in the rear view mirror at himself, his beautiful face twisted in a scowl. Jordan took long showers, and she might not even realize she should be concerned if she got out of the shower and saw that Eric was missing. Still dressed in his suit (with his tie loosened around his neck), Eric made his way to the door and, checking that nobody was around to see, kicked it open. Once inside, he closed it. He didn't want anyone thinking something was wrong and coming over to check on their neighbor. He went deeper inside, only stopping when he finally found Rhys. What did Jordan see in this guy? He wasn't nearly as good as Eric. His eyes narrowed as he glared at the man and he slammed the door to the room shut behind them. He moved in close, his voice low. "Stay away from Jordan. She's mine. If I see your ugly little face around her one more time, I'll will ruin it," he threatened, his gaze filled with fury at the idea of what this man and Jordan might have done while he was away on business. aether

Rhys parked his bike on the roadside and pulled his helmet off his head to tuck it under his arm. He had spent the night riding through the streets, not really up to much, other than simply existing. He didn't have much to do. When he did finally arrive home, he would have been better off staying out. He was staying at day-by-day rental, so it wasn't his place, but it was a place to stay while he found a place to live properly. So when he entered, it was relatively bare other than the furniture that was provided, like a navy blue couch, a black coffee table, and a TV on a small black stand. The kitchen was bare, the toilet was bare, the bedroom had a bed, a side table, and a lamp. There was no sense of home in the apartment.
He placed his bike helmet on the coffee table and laid his leather jacket over the back of the lounge. The wooden floors creaked beneath his feet as he walked into the kitchen and drank a glass of water. It was as he placed his glass down that he heard the door slam open. He jumped in surprise and whipped around, his blue eyes narrowing. He stepped out of the kitchen and into the bigger living room, stepping cautiously. He clenched his fists in preparation of a fight. That's when he noticed Eric step into the room - he'd not seen him in real life, but he had noticed some photos around Jordan's house of Eric - so Rhys vaguely recognised him. It was confirmed when Eric growled something about staying away from Jordan.
Rhys bristled at Eric's words. He stepped slowly to the side, and furrowed his brows. "All I want to do is what's best for Jordan," he responded - his voice equally low as Eric's. "You are in the way of that. I don't want to have a fight, in fact, I recommend you leave now and never come back." He didn't particularly want to fight, but his guard was up and he was prepared for one.

Eric was still amazed that some guy was snooping around Jordan. He was even more surprised that his wife hadn't told the dude to go bother someone else. She was a married woman. Of course, being a married man hadn't stopped Eric from going off to see other girls. That was different. That was expected of him. He'd been doing it through their entire marriage. Jordan had never once been interested in other guys after she was married to Eric and that's the whole reason that he didn't like the idea of Jordan and Rhys getting too close. After all, she didn't have a chance of getting out of this marriage and he knew it, especially because he would fight to keep Sam if Jordan left him. He'd confronted Jordan about Rhys, only managing to get his name and her claim that they were only 'friends'. Yeah. Like he believed that. He'd found Rhys's place by following Jordan one day when she came out here to visit him. When he realized that his return home hadn't stopped Jordan from visiting her New 'friend', that's when he decided to pay Rhys a visit. If Jordan wouldn't end whatever they had going on, Eric would. It didn't take him long to find the dude, and Eric was somewhat intimidating to most people. He was about 6'2 with a muscular build. A good looking guy, and even Jordan would admit that. "Leave?" Eric asked, his lips curling into a smirk as if he was amused by that suggestion. "You don't know what's best for Jordan. So I suggest you leave my wife alone or you're going to regret it. This is only a taste of what you'll get if you ever try to contact her again," he growled before pulling his arm back and aiming a solid punch towards his face, his other fist clenched at his side. aether
